Want to hear something funny??? Rick and I went into Tiffany''s today. I thought my stone was loose, but it isn''t.

Anyway, I asked the saleslady if they made the Legacy ring in a Padparadscha sapphire. She never heard of a Pad sapphire. She asked two other sales people and they never heard of it either. Finally, they went in the back and got the manager and asked him what a Padparadscha sapphire was. I really got a kick out of it. Especially, being in Tiffany''s of all places. Sheesh!!!

The store owner showed me the cert and made a big deal about how it said "natural," which he interpreted as "only lightly heated." Right. Oh, and he proceeded to inform me that one should buy only "natural" stones.

I don''t like going into jewelry stores anymore. They don''t know what they are talking about. I have learned so much, thanks to PS and its members.

One sales person told me once, my pad was a tourmaline. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!

Well, I've had my tsavorites mistaken for emerald, which is fine. I've also had my rare neon yellow danburite mistaken for a yellow beryl, which is not fine. Oh, and I've had my diamond mistaken for a cushion.

By a jeweler?? That is bad. A well trained one, would certainly know the difference I would imagine.

On the other hand, sales people at the mall stores I can''t blame. They really aren''t trained, just trained to sell.
