Need quick thoughts on 3.1 carat Old Mine

Oh, thank you for the comment! He wouldn't wear anything rock climbing, it's too risky even when it's a softer metal. But that's a good point for biking and other activities. Silicone and gold, then!

I'm kind of stuck now on what @newdiamondworld mentioned about platinum with a gold band in the stack a la Erstwhile. So pretty! And I think my partner would enjoy one of the 'make your own ring' classes, he's always soldering to fix broken electronics, 3d printing things, etc. so maybe that's an option. And regardless the plain band would allow for resizing the sentimental one if necessary.

But we aren't there yet! Luckily JM just added the stone onto my insurance so she'll head off for setting soon-ish.

^^ that is a great look and it will allow you to have a nice solid gold band for casual wear and sentimentality that can be resized!

Re: black reflections you can wrap your phone in white paper with a hole cut for the lens :lol-2:

Thanks for mentioning this I didn’t know. One of my “unique” fears is getting rings caught on my fingers. Silicone rings have worked well for me (I wear them as ring guards for my looser metal rings).

This is incredibly beautiful, stacking warm gold with white metals and diamonds. I’ve been perusing the high carat gold threads on Pricescope and stacking is a great idea. Those threads show different colors in high carat gold for example English vintage is rosier, traditional Asian is yellower, etc.

Can I also just say n2j I love the updates of your stone whenever. We're so invested in your journey and love that you continue to show her off. It really makes my day!
 
Oh my goodness. Just came across this post and what a read!! Gorgeous stone NTJ!! I LOVE old cuts, I had a 2.5 OMB, then upgraded to a 4.57 OEC- it was an OP, and while I LOVED the cut discovered round just didn’t look great on my finger and she was just a dash to warm for me… she is now with Grace. Ironically, I’m actually planning on purchasing a 3 carat Pear- so moving in a completely different direct…
Feel like I scratched my Old Cut itch (had that ring for 13 years), but I’ve always LOVED pears and realize I love the BIG spread…

Anyway, I say that to say PS has been such a gift, I’ve learned so much… and I love ro see the community so excited about your stone!! She is stunning!! Can’t wait to see her in her final dress.!

Somehow 3 carats seems to look huge on everyone else but not on me! Darn these big hands! But really, I feel like I could stare at her all day everyday forever and the size is just classic and elegant. It feels a bit obnoxious to say that about my own diamond, but of course you and all of the other PSers would understand!

Are you looking for an antique or a modern pear? Because you could get the pear and the old cut itch both satisfied in one go!

I have loved lurking on PS and it was so fun to finally have this whole adventure myself. I feel so so lucky to have the community and this diamond. I can't wait for the final dress either! We'll be sending it out soon for the setting so I'll need to say goodbye to Georgiana for a while :(( Gotta enjoy her now while I still can!

We're still debating metal color, actually, I made an Imgur album if anyone wants to weigh in (again). I said he could make the final decision, he says he doesn't want to mess up, I told him anything will be fine because the diamond is soooooo perfect but I'm leaning 60/40 towards platinum over two-tone rose + platinum, he slightly prefers the two-tone because it would match more and he likes rose gold on me. Bla bla bla. I figure I can do the two-tone stack with a plain rose band if we go platinum or a plain platinum band if we go two-tone so it'll all be fine. I know we already went through this earlier in the thread and there were mixed opinions so I imagine it will still be the same, but maybe you want to readmire her and vote again in the last week or two before it's decided! :lol:

Haha omg I was so excited when this thread was bumped. I was like was it a Thanksgiving engagement. Lol you got my hopes up! I was still happy to see your stone again hehe.

Fwiw I think you can't go wrong either way. There's no right or wrong and two tone vs platinum will still go really well in your collection. I love the platinum/white metal pieces in your collection but I also love the rose gold against your skin.

Maybe a two tone ER and then a platinum wedder lol maybe French cuts or something like that then you get the best of both worlds haha.

Set a calendar notification for June, probably! I just don't want to get engaged with braces :boohoo::lol: I'll have to stay off of Erika Winter's Instagram just in case it makes it there, because I know I would immediately recognize Georgiana.

I vote for the platinum head and rose gold shank too. Sure to be a beauty no matter what you choose!

Rose gold looks amazing on your hand! But you can’t go wrong with any color. The two-tone (P&RG) sounds lovely ::)
 
I know everyone is leaning 2 tone and it does look beautiful and classic but personally I would go for just platinum. It’s the most classic and neutral and goes with literally everything! I feel like an ering should match with every piece of jewellery you have. Just my 2c!

I know, I'm still leaning platinum too! But I'm glad so many like two tone, I find that harder to visualize personally, so it gives me confidence that either way will be great.
 
I love this thread and your stone! I vote all platinum! I saw you like the erstwhile look with a yellow gold band stacked w platinum (I love this look) and so mainly for that reason I think platinum. I love two tone rings (just had one made a few months ago) but I think platinum allows you to mix and match with both rose and yellow gold. Thankfully, with your stone, you can’t go wrong! I’m just sad we have to wait until June to see the finished piece!
 
You are cracking me up about delaying the engagement for braces. In my (slightly more) advanced years I have come to believe we should never delay pleasure, especially the really big things. Older you will either love seeing young you will braces in pictures, or you can take pictures when the braces are off!

And obviously please don’t feel the need the justify your choices to me. I’m just along for the ride.
