Need quick thoughts on 3.1 carat Old Mine

Lol it's already Friday in Aus so I have to wait an extra day boo... But this will be the highlight of my weekend hehehe. Don't ever feel guilty about spamming us with photos and videos because we love it!!

It'll be about 24 hours still for you to wait! You guys are too funny! But in the meantime I'm using the ASET scope on everything. Unsurprisingly the marquise diamonds on my little Tiffany ring are mostly green, the little melee on my Ferko's bracelets are less red than the melee on my Victor Canera earrings, etc. I made my partner use it too! Such a fun tool.

It's so reassuring that the cuts are good on some of your purchases lol. We all know Tiffany aren't the greatest cuts.

You know it's really funny because we all have pieces we could take photos and videos of but here we are waiting for yours lol. It's kinda like how whenever you go out to eat and someone else's food tastes better than your own :lol-2:

I wouldn't be mad if you posted photos of your ring here!

Okay now I know why I don't take more videos and photos. It's so much effort. Have to trim and file my nails. Moisturise my hands. Ultrasonic the rings. Have 5 minutes of sunshine and be ready when it hits. Then go through the hundreds of failed photos for one decent enough to post lol.

It's here! Unfortunately home too late at night to take good photos because of the light, but my partner helped by holding the headlamp! I'll post more tomorrow!

Oh no, these videos don't seem to be uploading! But they're there if you click the link.

Also, any thoughts on metal color? This is in natural light earlier today:

It's so so so beautiful and I feel really lucky to have it. Hopefully I can capture it better with sunlight tomorrow! The first thing my partner and I both thought was how huge it is, so that's maybe a good sign for DSS

The post I've been waiting all day for lol. Literally been refreshing PS since I woke up :lol-2:.

I love the stone and how it dances under the headlamp! Your partner is a champ and thank you for entertaining us (especially those of us that were waiting for it lol).

I really think that in any case you should have a platinum head for the stone. Maybe a little project for tomorrow would be putting the stone against the different coloured metals so we can compare haha.

I told him that I had people waiting for photos! But yes, tomorrow I'll do a photoshoot next to my metals and in the sun/natural daylight and with the ASET and the macro lens and I'll try to clean it and and and......

If you had to pick a killer sparkly dress for New Year's Eve, would you pick silver, gold or rose gold?

Photo time! Gosh this was so hard to photograph, where are my really excellent photographers when I need them! Plus it's foggy today! What is missing in all of these photos is the brightness I see in real life.

ASET to prove that any darkness we're seeing is my photography and not the stone:

For color, I'm really an equal opportunity wearer as you can maybe see in my jewelry box. I'm newer to yellow and less confident on that so it'll be either platinum, rose gold, or two-tone (and I think probably two-tone if we go rose gold just to limit any tint from the head/prongs). I was so so wrong about the color when I was worried, I really saw it in worst-case scenario lighting the first time. These photos are making the stone look much darker and more tinted than my eyes see. I could see some tint in my bedroom at night with the warm artificial lights and off-white walls, but even then it's a 'warm white' and not tinted -- like we would expect from a J. Right now in the natural foggy daylight she's just bright bright bright. Hopefully the sun comes out later!

So beautiful! I think rose gold looks beautiful on your skin tone. Platinum as well. So I am officially no help. I am here for the pictures and videos. Such a beautiful stone!

Oh my goodness!!! Little G’s (I’m not sure if you’ve officially chosen her name, but that’s what I’ve been calling her, lol) first photo official shoot!!! Look at that ASET… no wonder my heart burst when she was listed in preloved. I’m so happy you chose her, her faint touch of warmth truly adds to her beauty… it is the icing on the cake❤️

I absolutely love love love your style, and I’m going to say, 99.9% of the time I prefer a classic piece one would wear for decades to be a solid platinum or yellow gold… but honestly, I really love the rose gold on you and the platinum on Little G, and given the pieces you have…

I’m team two-tone: Rose Gold + Platinum basket & prongs… with a rose gold EW band and a platinum EW band!

I love the photos and the descriptions as well. I can really feel the love and adoration you have for this stone. She's a beauty and I am so happy for you.

I agree she will look fabulous in either platinum or two tone with a rose gold band. Maybe think about what colour gold wedding band you'd want and would you be happy mixing metals.

HI:

For someone who is New to Jewels, you have a really lovely array of pieces. Welcome beautiful diamond!

cheers--Sharon

Can I just fawn over your entire collection for a minute? It's just :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: for days. Like @canuk-gal said, for someone "new to jewels", you've just made standout choice after standout choice, and it's so impressive.

As far as color choice goes, I love the look of the all platinum set, but that's just my personal preference. Your collection is an interesting mix, and you clearly don't seem to lean one way more than others, so I don't think you will really go wrong no matter what you end up choosing.

I love her so much. I especially love her slightly wonky outline which is just so characteristic of the really really old cuts! The size and shape are so pleasing and that lovely high crown.

I think she needs a plantinum head no matter what. And I like rose gold for the shank!

Try sitting in a window facing the sun (or jus ta bright window. Set the stone on the ledge or a box and shade her with your hand. Then take pictures. Also put her in a holder and put your hand against the window palm facing the window with the stone facing you. This always give great pictures. Go outside under a leafy tree on a bright day too.

Thank you! If only you were here to take my photos for me. She deserves a better photographer!

Well if you're happy with us sharing names then I think that'll be it! I didn't want to steal the thunder from your HG!

I love that your version has multiple bands! Somehow we end up buying more jewelry this way  My partner is so on board for trying the pointed Twyla even if it might spin, maybe the trick would be to have the two-tone engagement ring, a platinum straight band, and a rose gold Twyla :twisted2::evil2:

And on days when the solitaire is too much, this with just the two mixed-metal bands would be a pretty look:

I wear mixed metals in my real life, just not currently on the same finger. But why not? I mix my bracelets on the same wrist and my earrings on the same ear so it would be in character!

And thank you for all of your enthusiasm throughout this process! It has really made me smile over the last couple of days :)

Thank you! :kiss2: I think @Dreamer_D said a few months ago that I was going to need to change my username -- and with a 3 carat diamond, an ASET scope, multiple CS rings, and pieces from basically all of my favorite designers, I'm not feeling so new anymore!

Thank you so much, @lala646! It helps that I was a lurker here for so long before I could start to purchase anything myself. I didn't really have a phase where I was going to crummy mall stores, etc., I felt like I always had some guidance!

There is something so classic about all platinum and it's what I had kind of always expected to get, but maybe it being expected is what's making the rose feel more interesting. But I think you're right, the fact that I'm debating at all means there isn't really a 'best' choice. The stone is beautiful and the setting will be beautiful regardless!

I loooove the wonky outline and the bit of asymmetry in the facets but the fact that it isn't too wacky. I always liked but didn't love August Vintage Cushions and similar, I think I was missing the little bit of soul of the true antiques. But of course I also wanted excellent light return -- how lucky to get both in one stone! Same with my little transitional earrings.

There is sadly no sign of sun yet today, but the weather forecast is saying maybe later this afternoon. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed! I'll try the leafy tree situation and the hand-shading situation if there is anything besides fog. I've had some medium success with some of my other pieces in a shaded area on a sunny day. I'm hoping for this kind of lighting again today which worked out pretty well I think!
