Wowee, you''ve put together quite a collection so far, haven''t you? Enjoy it!

Now THAT''s purple! Love it! You can hardly go wrong with this one (in terms of metal color), but I think RG would calm down that rich purple to a point and, personally, that''s not something I''d recommend. White could darken it slightly, but I believe that stone has enough color saturation to not end up inky. So take your pick and have fun

Thanks! I''m now leaning towards white gold. I think it would look nice with the blue and red flashes. I just can''t get over how many different looks this stone has!!

Hmm, blown up on the screen, I see that I also should have cleaned it before taking pics! I wish that would show up on my camera screen....

If there''s anything I learnt about gemstone photography, clean them really well first, then only handle them with tweezers so you don''t put fingerprint marks on them which you can''t see but the camera picks up.

Not only that, it''ll reduce the lint and other dust too, which our human eyes cannot pick up.

WOW....it looks like purple velvet!!!

I like amethysts in yellow gold. It warms the purple, reds and blues in it. I''m concerned a white metal will show too much contrast and make it appear darker. I like the red and blue flashes it shows.

Karee,

Here''s my Mum''s Amethyst ring which my sister now has. It''s 22K gold. I think My sister''s been cleaning out a fish tank with it on, but you get the idea.

i don''t own a single piece of jewelry that doesn''t have white metal. maybe it''s time to start?

I also have a small amethyst in high 22 karat gold and it makes everything look very "rich".

Hi Karee,
I didn''t see this thread until now. What a lovely stone. I vote for rose gold.

That was the plan.

He was out of the country for awhile, and then backed up with other stones he needed to cut first....then he cut one and sent me a picture, but it was lighter than I had hoped for. He was going out of town again, and still really busy, so I didn''t want to bother him! On a whim, I emailed Barry to see if he had any rough similar to the amethyst he had on his site...and it just so happened that he had this one lying around!

So...when I get back from the Netherlands, I will bug Gary for something else.
