Hello all,

Since I posted 2 miserable threads this past week, I figured I should end on a happy note. I just received this sapphire from Inken of Enhoerning Jewelry today. It's my first purchase from her, and I'm super pleased. She's lovely... and I could listen to that Germanic accent all day long. Anyway, it's a little over 3ct. I'm glad I didn't go with a royal blue, as beautiful as they can be. I don't think I would have been happy with a darker tone, though I probably could have gone larger. This one will never black out and there's no extinction. With my old stone, though it has good color, half of it was always in shadow. Drove me nuts. I like this chubby oval. It's almost a cushion. I'm going to call it a coval. :D:shock::roll: Anyway... thanks for commiserating with me this week, guys (and girls)! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Best,
Autumn

It’s beautiful!!!

Now that’s just gorgeous! When will you have it in person because I’m dying to see more pics! :kiss2:

Simply stunning. Bluelicious to the max. :kiss2:

Drooling and stuck at the top of the page staring at that beauty.

Oh it's absolutely gorgeous!!!

Can't wait to see pictures! That glow...

One photo is never enough!!!

Oh wow... we have a lot of blue sapphire fans here! Thank you all for the cheers!! I will definitely post my own pix. They'll be atrocious, but I wouldn't dare not share! :geek2:

Beautiful! How are you going to set it?

Thank you! I would like to do a halo in platinum with 3mm diamonds and a pave shank. I like the designs that have the pronounced prongs along the perimeter of the halo, as opposed to the shared prongs. Anyone know what that particular aesthetic is called, if anything? None of my stones is set. lol I was telling Inken - I'm more a rock hound than jewelry person. So I'm still learning. Here are examples...

Halo with shared prongs (not my pic)... very pretty, but I prefer the style below it.

Ooooo I found this guy when browsing for the other photos. Incredible! The diamonds would probably cost a small fortune though, if you can even source them. They appear to be rose cut pears? :kiss2:

@Autumn in New England we need to your pics!!!

Will do! :mrgreen2:

Hey @T L... I have a question for you. I recall you recently posting about Beyonce's cushion sapphire ring. This has always been the standard to me with regard to celebrity blue sapphires. So I was surprised to read on several sites, including The Tanzanite Foundation, that the stone is actually thought to be a tanzanite. Can that possibly be true? I can't imagine any celebrity jeweler would bother selling Jay-Z a tanzanite, however fine it may be, when they could grab him for a world class sapphire. TTF's website says, Jay-Z "chose Tanzanite because of the Maasai tradition of gifting blue to new mothers... tanzanite is found only in Tanzania, and is a uniquely African Gemstone. " Obviously, it had to do with their daughter's name as well. Now I'm confused.

When I first saw it publicized, it was supposedly a sapphire. It could be a tanzanite, and the article wrong???

I think Kate Middleton also has a tanzanite suite of gems, that everyone first thought were sapphire, so wealthy famous people do wear them. I guess no one mentioned how brittle these stones are!!! Lol!

I must say I do truly love the unique color/pleochroism of tanzanite, but the brittleness you noted, combined with perfect cleavage (:oops2:), has always put me off. So, to me, it's a hard no for a ring, especially an everyday one. I'm a color origin purist too, so there's also that. But now I'm really curious about Bey's infamous push present!

Ooh yes - fancy shape halo stones 100%swoon!!

I’d think rose cuts would be more cost effective than brilliant cuts - and easier to match up the set, to boot!
