Another vote for Il Mulino! Amazing.

If you want italian, have you considered Lupa? Smaller and easier than Babbo!

I am shocked you have not considered Le Bernadin! French seafod is a nice way to go if you are nixing the French fete! I know they have private dining, I had a friend who was a chef there (ages ago) and his tiny reception was supposed to be held there, but fairly last minute they decided on a tiny church wedding and recpetion at a friend''s home the Hamptons. This one is my vote, but per head it will be over.

I did once go to a fundraiser at Grammercy Tavern, so they do rent that out, but not sure how you feel about that one....

If you want a bit cheesy but romantic One If by Land...

If you are into Greek, (which may be too ethnic perhaps) I ADORE Milos.

Balthazar is a favorite from brunch, you could try them?

Also, I recently went to Top of the Tower. Just for drinks (sorry) but it was pretty and i liked that it was not overblown. It''s in Murray Hill and has beautiful views.

Thanks, Nicrez!
I really have to go check out Il Mulino.
I have to admit that we were very underwhelmed by Le Bernardin.

Can I use your Hampton''s pad?

Gramercy Tavern is a possibility. What do you think about Chanterelle?
Speaking of cheesy, how about the Boathouse?
I''ve never been to Milos, but I really like Molyvos (yummy desserts).
If only Per Se weren''t so darned expensive!

The Boathouse has a room specifically for weddings, but it''s a fortune and has minimum of 150 people I think.

I think you can get married at Eleven Madison Park. Fantastic restaurant and the space is very cool -- iniside an old bank.

You can also rent out The Modern. I had dinner there the other night -- so yummy and there''s a cool view of the sculpture garden from the MoMA.

My friend got married at an event space called Astra -- it''s run by Charlie Palmer who owns (and the space is catered by) Aureole. It was the best food I''ve ever had at a wedding... and I"ve been to about 20 weddings in the last five years.

Also, try going to http://www.locationsmagazine.com. There should be some places you can find in there.

Good luck!

Thanks! I''ll look into 11 Madison Park -- I hear the food is sensational. I forgot about Astra. It''s near home too.

Milos is great, best Greek, but maybe not what you want for the cuisine. Il Mulino is so hard to book for dinner, I am not sure if they allow you to book out the whole restaurant. Worth a call though, of course. You have certainly been given some of the top choices in the city. I am sure Daniel and Le Bernadin might even be worth checking out, any restaurant can have an off night now and then...you can do a tasting or something. I would also want to consider the space as well, so try to find the place that combines setting and cuisine...and definitely have a tasting evening for you and your other half!

Any excuse to dine would be welcome! We''ll give Le Bernardin another shot, but we''ve been disappointed by Daniel on several occasions (though the gougeres are scrumptious). I''m still hoping to work something out with Jean-Georges, our second-favourite restaurant in the city. Have you been to Aureole?

Wow... if Jean-Georges is your second favorite restaurant, what is your first?

Per Se. Which restaurants do you like in NY?

I''ve never been to Per Se. I''m hoping for a birthday dinner there this year, but we''ll see...

Jean-George has been my favorite meal ever. I like Eleven Madison Park a lot. My dinner at The Modern was great. L''Impero is fantastic. For sushi I love Sushi of Gari with Sushi Seki being a great runner up. I also had a fantastic meal at Megu. I also like Jo Jo which is another Jean George restaurant.

One of the best deals in the city is Park Avenue Cafe. They have a ''pay your age'' price fix. If you have a reservation for 8:30 PM or later you just pay your age. Yum!

If you love Per Se just do it there. It is likely to make you the happiest, if you try to save some money in the long run you might be disappointed, and I am not sure how much less any other restaurant will end up being...you are having a smallish sized group, so I say, do it where you really love the food...

Good luck and book early. Sushi Seki is great. We live a few blocks away and takeout frequently.

I'll give them a call. They have a lovely private room.
ETA: It has a minimum of $400 per person.

Well, if you are now not doing the Paris reception, you are saving money on that and on the clothes...I could easily justify it!

Not sure if you''d consider brooklyn, but the River Cafe has an *amazing* view of manhattan and i''ve seen some gorgeous weddings go on there. (you can see it from fulton landing, and guests can even take a water taxi there!

DF,
The NY reception replaces the Paris one, so we won''t really be saving anything.

Enjoy Aspen!

Shinythings,
Thanks, I''ll check it out.

Oh, I thought you were doing S''pore, NY and Paris...well, again, I would keep the list smaller and do it where I wanted so I was not regretful in the long run...and thanks, we ARE enjoying it here...

Hi,
Glad you''re having a good time.
Our receptions will actually be in NY, Singapore and Malaysia. Help!

Sorry, but I can only be of limited help in NYC...and I have given some of the best help I can...considering I live in suburban Philadelphia and only get to the city monthly...Afraid I am not in the know about the Far East...

You've certainly been of great help.

As for the Far East, I have things under control. Wanna come?
