Good thing to know about the lilies. My kitties are not really "real" plant eaters though, they prefer plastic!!
20.gif
Go figure!

Jasmine went to the vet today for her treatment. I couldn''t let her have her favorite toy because everything in the cage with her has to be destroyed, so I wore an old shirt for a couple of days and sent that in with her. That way it has my scent on it.
face23.gif

I cannot visit her, but the vet said they would call me today, Friday and Sunday morning to give me updates, etc. They are really nice and professional. The room she stays in is away from the rest of the hospital, so no dogs, human activity, etc. will disturb her and they have a radio playing quietly in the room too. Hopefully everything works out fine and she can be back home on Sunday.

They give you a sheet on what the treatment entails and what to do when she comes home. Well, one of the things you are supposed to do is no physical contact for 10 day!!!
23.gif
Yeah, right. My Jasmine is a total lover and there is no way I am not going to love her up when she comes home!
38.gif
The doctor assured me this was just a precaution they have to put down in accordance with state law. The amount of radiation she might put out is equivalent to riding in your car on a sunny day. So nothing to worry about. The only thing he really recommends is cleaning the litter box every day for appx 10 days, putting the waste in a plastic bag and throwing it in the garbage outside. That, I can do.
9.gif

Well, I will let you all know how it goes.

Thanks for the update on your kitty, I"m sure she''ll be ok. Your vets sound great to be working with. I''m so glad she wont be in an area with the dogs...at my first old vet all the rooms were in teh same area and it really frazzled my cats to be around the barking. We''ve since moved to a different vet, but I"m sure there are a lot that don''t have the room for seperate areas. Good idea with the old tshirt too, I''m sure she''ll love cuddling with that! She''s going to be so happy to see you later this week that I don''t know how you''d not give her some love! Guess you''ll see how she feels and take it as it comes. Good luck these next few days!

ADC, I''ll be crossing fingers that all goes well for Jasmine. You''re fortunate that you are able to afford the treatment for her. I''m sure my DH would tell me to prepare to say buh-bye to my cat. Not that he''s mean or anything, but I''m just almost sure he wouldn''t agree to spending the money to save my cat, even if we''ve had her for nearly 10 years.

We''ve finally decided on a name for my furbaby. We named her "Rusty" because although she''s basically black, she has rust colored tips on her fuzzy fur. I hesitated even naming her because I thought DH would seriously make me give her up. But it''s been almost two weeks now, and I think he''s finally accepted it.
face23.gif

Lorelei, we want pics of your new furbaby! And thanks for the info about the lily plants. I had some at my old house and I guess my cat didn''t like them so it wasn''t a problem for her. She does eat the pasture grass though.

Firegoddess, lol at the roach story! I''d be running too!!
14.gif

Your Jasmine is in my thoughts Amant!

We now go to an all-feline vet, so my girls don''t get freaked out by dogs either. Katie''s OK with them, but Sammy is a rescued frat-house kitten; they would feed her whenever they remembered, they gave her beer and God know what else, and they sic''d their dogs on her....... needless to say, she is terrified of dogs!
38.gif
Some people just have no respect.....

Good vibes requested fellow cat-moms!! I''m taking the girls to the vet on Sat. *Someone* has been urinating on the litter pad in front of the litter box, and I''m worried about kidney problems, especially Katie who is 11. I''ll be sure to post updates. Thanks for the warm thoughts in advance!

JCJD -- thats horrible! I can''t believe they''d give him beer and let dogs loose on him. So horrible
7.gif

I hope your kitty''s ok with the peeing, do you know which one it is? Its probably simple bloodwork. I have a 17 year old cat and we have this whole range of bloodwork done every vet visit, so expensive, but its to keep track of her kidneys & thyroid. We started once she was 15. They always say she''s super healthy for a 17 yr old cat, just a little arthritic and overweight
3.gif

Today I took 2 of my 3 to the vet and they both went to the bathroom in their respective carriers I was sooooooooooooo grossed out. And they were so sweet and brought me new towels and had the kennel kids clean out the cages, but ewwwwwwww they''ve never done that before, I was so disgusted! Totally healthy though, so I was glad. I did ask my vet about the soft claws and she said she hasn''t had much luck, she said she''s had better luck on the dogs.

Thanks Blue. I have my suspicions about who is peeing, but I don''t really know. It''s definitely not a dirty litter box issue, so my next course of action is medical. Cats will go outside the box only when they want to tell you something is wrong - usually a medical problem. Mine used to poo on the bathroom rug to tell us the box was dirty, but they''ve never peed outside the box... Possibilities I''m thinking of are kidney stones, UTI, kidney disease.

Update:
Well, Katie is at the vet right now, staying as long as it takes for her to provide a sample for urinalysis... I really think it''s her who is doing the peeing now. I''ve found a large amount, what looks like a full bladder''s worth, on the bathroom floor 4 times now over the past week and a half, and I don''t think it''s Sammy because I''ve watched her go at least once a day while I haven''t seen Katie in there at all.
7.gif
Monday night I was up until 3am cleaning the bathroom because the floor in there is sloped - it ran from the wall in front of the litterbox around the toilet and along the cabinet/sink to the opposite wall
29.gif
... and although I was able to collect almost 1/3 cup for the vet, I forgot to put it in the fridge overnight. They did find a LOT of crystals, which could be bad, but it could be because it was left out and more crystals had a chance to form. There were no red blood cells though, which can''t be affected by non-refridgeration. I''ll update as info comes in.

Hello All!! JCJD: Hope the vet is able to figure out what is going on with your kitty. Hopefully it will be something that is curable (and cheap...yeah right!
emwink.gif
). Keep us in the loop!

Well, Jasmine is home and back to her talkative self (not that she ever stopped talking!
emsmilep.gif
). I take her back to the vet in about 3 weeks to check her thyroid levels to make sure the treatment took. Hard to tell at this point, but she doesn''t seem to be as hungry as she was before and her coat is looking better. Fingers crossed that everything worked! I will let you know how the test results come out.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

JCJD,

The same thing happened to my kitty. She kept getting frequent UTIs, one right after the other. Antibiotics galore...Finally turned out she actually had kidney stones the whole time. Had to have an operation. Ever since, she''s been on a vet-prescribed diet of dry food and wet food that prevents formation of oxalate (sp?) crystals/stones. Been fine ever since. I hope things are okay with your kitty.

Thanks Amant and FG. I''m keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Amant - Glad to hear Jasmine is safe at home doing well! Best wishes!! Keep us posted.

JCJD, I hope your kitty is starting to feel better!!

For everyone who uses the Soft Claws/Paws, I have a bunch of medium sized clear and blue colored tips that are just sitting around in their boxes. Instead of me throwing them out, I was wondering if anyone could use them?? There is no glue, since I opened both bottles a while ago and never refrigerated them. But if anyone wants them, I am more than willing to mail them off to you! Just PM me and let me know

And I thought I would add some more pics of Rascal
9.gif
. He is a bit under the weather right now due to an anal sac abscess
8.gif
. But as you can see from the pics, he is resting comfortably now!

And finally, where he likes to hide when he thinks I''m about to abduct him to the vet or try to force him medicine. However, I''m not quite sure he realizes that I still can see him

LOL

Oh Stretch4, what an awsome boy! I love his markings.
30.gif
My boy kitty sleeps just like that on my bed, too.

Update on Katie. Just got her back from the vet this afternoon. She was holding it all night so that when they picked her up to examine her, she went all over the table! Nice fresh sample, no crystals, no glucose, no RBC, normal WBC, perfectly normal.... So.... nothing is wrong medically, so I bought another little litter box to put in front of the old litter box (in case she just likes that spot better) and we''re keeping an eye out for other problems. To be honest, I''m not surprised if she''s just freaking out - moved 2 months ago, got married 1 month ago, just got a dining room table last weekend... But the good news is she used the litter box for #1 as soon as we got home! Perhaps after the night at the vet''s, she realized she likes the changes after all.

Cute kitty cat Stretch!!! Awww!

HI:

Happy days for all kitties! Keep those wonderful pics coming!!!
emcat.gif

cheers--Sharon

JCJD: Sounds promising about Katie. She just might be trying to tell you to stop changing everything, it''s driving her crazy!!
emwink.gif

Stretch4: Love your furball! He is adorable, and has such a sweet face.
face23.gif

JCJD, I''m so glad that Katie is ok. Cats are funny creatures that hate when their routines are changed. Hopefully she''ll get back to normal once she gets comfortable in the new house and with your husband.

I'd like to introduce you to one of two of our babies. I have not been able to get a good digital of Missy (she's not very photogenic)

This is Forest, she's a manx

ResizedForest.JPG

OMG!!!!!

That is one funny picture! How cute is that
9.gif

You wonder how Forest got that pudgy? Check these ones out.. She's been boozing it up.

Bottom''s Up! Gulp! Gulp!

How adorable!!!

Head bonks to all the kitties that aren't feeling well
7.gif

hehehehe, She is a little chubby gal! But I'm big boned as well
1.gif
You have to take more pix of her standing up so I can see that cute rabbit rump that I love on the manx! I took in a stray manx that was abandoned in the neighborhood...what a great cat...got him adopted bc he and my cat at the time were both alpha males...Loved that rabbit rump! :)

And rascal's juicy belly is just BEGGING to be grabbed and rubbed!

JCJD -- its good to hear that your kitty is healthy! Hopefully she''s just adjusting to the changes in your lives and will be back to her old self soon enough!

also
Amant -- I''m so glad your Jasmine is doing well after her round of treatments!

Stretch -- your Rascal is adorable!!

oh, and
CdnBlingGal -- the one of Forest drinking out of the martini glasses is so funny! What character that kitty has
1.gif
Forest doesn''t look *too* heavy...my youngest two are 6 and then 10 pounds, but my older cat weighs in at a whopping 19!

OMG, that first martini glass picture of Forest looks just like my Katie-Cat! The wide-pupils, the taken-aback posture, ADORABLE!

Blue824: I guess I should rephrase ''pudgy'' to a little more like ''flabby''. Shes''s got excess flab hanging from her belly. She''s a very lazy cat. I think as she''s getting older, she''s not eating as much although I don''t think she needs to eat that much since all she does is sleep all day. She''s about 10 pounds now.

So happy to hear all the kitties are doing well!!!! My new furbaby is settling in now. She is very timid but I have managed to form a bond with her. She isn''t too keen on DH yet and hisses when she sees him! That cat has taste ha ha ha
11.gif
I have found tapeworm segments around her butt so now have the charming and delightful job of getting a worm pill down her
14.gif
I have a feeling I am going to need a suit of armour to do this
6.gif
Anyway just wanted to let the Catmoms know she is fine. She is also a dribbler and you end up soaked when she gets on your lap - bless! I have named her Georgina as it seems to suit her.

Hey Lorelei, I just did a round of worm pills too with Rusty. I taught my kids to do it since I had to go out of town for a couple of days, and my older son thought it was so cool to hold her mouth closed until she licked her lips, indicating she''d swallowed.
20.gif
Speaking of Rusty, she''s turning into a frisky little terror! OMG, climbing everywhere!!! And on the screen doors which is a HUGE no-no with DH...
29.gif
Remember, he is fighting real hard to like her, and this isn''t really helping her cause.
12.gif
32.gif
But, like all babies, she''s such an angel when she''s asleep...
12.gif

JCJD, glad to hear that everything came out OK. Pun intended.
9.gif
Sounds like she''ll be on the mend. I believe they do get stressed out and maybe she''s picked up on the changes in your life/household and is absorbing them so you don''t have to. What an angel.
12.gif

CBG, my big furbaby''s name is Missy too!
emcat.gif
Those pics you posted are too funny, especially that first one. I had a cat way back who had an expression like that. And what''s up with those huge martini glasses?
emcocktl.gif
That''s just too hilarious!
9.gif

Stretch, cute kitty! Love that tail sticking out, like you can''t see her. LOL. BTW, I *love* your bedspread! I''ve been looking for a nice one to match my room, it''s green, and yours is the perfect color! I found one which had beautiful salmon colored flowers to go as a contrast, but the set was $200 at Macy''s and I said no way.
11.gif

Thanks for all the kitty updates everyone. Hope all the kitties stay healthy! I''ll be having Rusty spayed soon so I can let her outside with Missy. Please don''t flame me for letting them outdoors. (Kmom is running and ducking...) Missy never stays away, she''s always around when the door opens. She just goes outside to do her business and catches a bird on occasion.
