Now I really did it :((

Hi girls. Forgot to update here. Surgeon was not pleased with Greg’s progress because he can’t bend the knee at least 90 degrees. Only about 75 degrees. Surgeon wants at least 90 preferably 105. So if in three more weeks he can’t back in he goes for another surgery. So I’m involved now with his exercises and I’m using my body weight to help him bend the knee to a right angle. Praying doing this exercise four times daily will work.

Safe drive Joanne. We went out to pick up meds and our roads are super icy. Please be super careful or postpone your drive til tomorrow XO

Oh no..Poor Greg! I hope the exercises help him get more motion..

Thanks Missy..It’s sunny here in Va now..but still snowing in Pa. We will leave a little later but hope to get out before the temps drop again.

Hello lovelies

@missy, I’m so relieved that the appt was cancelled. I know it’s disappointing for you, but I was worried about the weather and bad roads. Sorry the news from the surgeon wasn’t what you wanted to hear, hopefully now you’re on the case, Greg’s progress will be better and things will improve so no more surgery.

Safe travels @MamaBee, I’m hoping the roads where you are aren’t too bad and you get to your house without incident. I use either chicken or beef when I make curry. I find the Patak’s curry paste to be the best on the market, and they do make them in varying strengths, so if you don’t like it too hot and spicy, you can find a mild one. I do make rice to have with it, but you could also have naan or parathas. Do ask away if you need any guidance for your trip, if I can help, I’d be more than happy to. The ’lube’ looked like Vaseline in a tube, but is specific for use on the filter. That was the second time we heard about someone dying from the newspaper, Colin’s former boss choked to death on a piece of steak in his hotel room (a hotel he owned). Life certainly is fleeting, and confirms what I’ve always thought - when it’s your time, nothing is going to change that.

Lovely sunny day here, we’re generating lots of electricity from the solar, so I’m getting all the washing done today!

Have a safe day lovely NIRDIs :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!

@Austina what awful news! My goodness;( I also use Patak sauces--they are very good quality. Made butter chicken last week with it. Sorry your pool filter keeps leaking.

@missy not the best news about Greg's knee--sending bending vibes his way! Stay warm and dry! I hope they find the problematic tooth and fix it STAT--dental pain is awful, hope your sister has some pain meds.

@MamaBee which part of Canada will you be on vacation? I like your picture--its a nice place. Safe travels I do not wish poor weather on anyone travelling; I don't winter drive long distances anymore.

We got a few flurries this AM. I went for a short walk--it is brisk at -5C but nice when the sun is out. It will be cold overnight. Good thing I have a long parka!!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I sure hate to hear your parents are not doing well. Getting old sure has a lot of heartache. Keeping all of you in my thoughts. I hate to hear your sister is having mystery teeth pain. I am glad you and Greg didn’t venture out in the storm. I hate to hear Greg’s knee isn’t bending as far as they’d like. Forcing it will help but it’s not fun. After one of my knee surgeries I pushed it too hard set myself back a few weeks. That knee is the one that barely bends now. Yes, I should see a doctor about it.

@Austina how awful about your previous neighbors. Like Missy said, life can change in an instant.

@MamaBee and @missy I’m with you on not liking to travel in bad weather. You’d think I’d be used to it where I live. I hope your mom stays well in the midst of a breakout. Me and S will have bedroom offices. I’ll miss my den, but enjoy darker skies and a covered front porch, covered patio and a pantry. Win-win there. I’d pay the fee for cancelling an appointment too. Safe travels.

@canuk-gal I agree - dental pain is awful. My mouth is hurting in sympathy pain for Missy’s sister. We had a sunny day here too, I did wander over to the mail box.

I did about a 20 minute interview on Zoom today for a video. The boss was sick so I filled in for her. It’ll be a long video on YouTube. It’s nuts all the new things I am learning to do. I’m doing 9 hour days again. At least I am taking weekends off - mostly.

I got the back of my vest done already and started on the left front tonight. I need a 1” button for the front and you can’t just buy a single button anymore. I’m not paying $8 or more for one from Amazon, so my sister that sews doll clothes is going to send me one in the mail. I gave her all my buttons when I gave away my sewing machine so I didn’t have a stash anymore.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls! Happy wonderful Valentine's Day Wednesday!

@Austina thank you. Yes we will work hard to hopefully avoid a second surgery on that knee. And it is better we had the appointment in person canceled because the roads were very slippery indeed. Though part of me feels the surgeon could have bent the knee himself to see what was going on and maybe more info about this issue. Good for doing all your washing with solar and yay for sunny days

@marcy thank you for all your well wishes...and oh no I am so sorry about your knee that doesn't bend...I forget, did you have TKR? If not that can be fixed I would think. My mom has a dropped foot from a botched surgery many many years ago so walks with a limp and she needs both knees replaced but she isn't going to do it ever. She said she is not strong enough to recover and I will say while I vehemently disagreed with her decision years ago I think now she is right. She waited too long. Please don't take this as lecturing as I am definitely not. I only want the best for you. Make the best decision for you. And only you know what that is but I would ask you to consider all options. The younger you are the easier it is to recover. Food for thought. Speaking of food. I am basically out of everything I like and we need to run errands today but it's soooooo windy and icy out. Not sure if we will venture out or not. We have a lot to do with Greg's added exercise four times a day and let me tell you it is hard on me too. I have to use my weight and force to help bend his knee. Greg had to get me foam to put on my leg as it was very painful. Who knew his knee exercises would bring me pain lol.

That was great you filled in for your boss on the zoom yesterday. I am sure she is grateful. Wow on the vest progress. Sweet. And speaking of sweet it is sweet your sister is sending you what you need and you both help each other which is the way it should be. I love hearing that

@canuk-gal thank you sweet friend. Greg is confident he can get his knee where he needs it to be without another surgery. I pray he is right as I do not always share his optimistic views. But I am doing all I can to make that a reality so let's hope and fingers and toes are crossed. Thanks for all the healing vibes for my family. Yay for getting to walk yesterday amidst the snow flurries. It can be so pretty but slippery and glad you have a long parka and Olang glamour boots to keep you warm and safe

@Slickk hope your week is going well and happy Valentine's Day

@bling_dream19 happy VD and hope you are celebrating and having a warm and lovely day

@MamaBee I hope you had an easy and safe drive and are home and settled and all is cozy and comfy and thank you again for all your good wishes for Greg and my family

Hello everyone else. Hope all is well. Wishing you a Valentine's Day filled with love and warmth and only good things

And in honor of Valentine's Day (or Galentine's Day as the case may be) I dedicate this poem I wrote a few years ago to all my sweet and dear friends here. Thank you for your friendship, love and support. I am grateful for all of you XOXO

Happy Valentine's Day
to all my sweet NIRDI girls
You are each more valuable to me
than diamonds or pearls

It is winter here still
And the weather is cold
But in our hearts
There is love we hold

Love keeps us warm
And safe from the storm

NIRDIs are the best
Stand above all the rest

Supportive and kind
The sharpest of minds

The rarest of jewels
The coolest of cool

Here's hoping this year
will bring good health and cheer
the sweetest of times
the finest of fine

May this year bring all the best
to each and everyone of you
May health, happiness, joy and prosperity
come to each of you

May all the NIRDIs have happiness
and no more sorrow
And may sweetness and love be with you
for each tomorrow

I am sending so many hugs and kisses

to my sweet NIRDI misses

And lastly a VALENTINE'S DAY SUNRISE JUST FOR YOU SWEET AND LOVELY LADIES

Screen Shot 2024-02-14 at 7.23.23 AM.png

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you all have a fun, romantic day! We don’t do anything for Valentine’s Day..It went like this when we woke up..I said “Happy Valentine’s Day”. My husband responded with “Yeah”. It was so romantic!
David asked me to make homemade pizza for Valentine’s Day. We have two dental appointments. To get this done I’m making the sauce now…I’ll have to fly home from my appointment to make the dough. It will be a late dinner tonight..S will break out a bottle of wine and that’s it! :lol-2:
How do you guys celebrate?
@missy I love your poem!
Love and hugs to you all!

HI:

I washed my shag rug. That's my VD treat! Came out beautifully!

cheers--Sharon

Happy Valentine’s Day lovely NIRDIs!

Your day sounds as exciting as mine @canuk-gal  I swept then mopped the porch.

Thank you for the lovely poem @missy, I hope you’ve had a good day and Greg’s PT is going well.

We didn‘t even bother with the Happy Valentine’s day @MamaBee  I’m not sure Colin even realises it is.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re the hardest working retiree I know @marcy!

Thinking of going to Costco tomorrow, that’ll be excitement for the week :D

:wavey:

David’s Valentine’s Day pizza..It was a challenge today but he enjoyed it..

Happy Valentine’s Day, NIRDI’s!

@missy I hope working Greg’s knee four times a day pays off quickly. Sorry, it hurts you too. Hopefully, my old PT trick helps. I love your poem. It’s very special, like all the wonderful NIRDI’s . Did you go get food? I picked up some stuff this morning.

@MamaBee your pizza looks delicious. Will you share your sauce and dough recipe?

@canuk-gal having a clean rug is always a treat.

@Austina nice to have a clean porch. I do work a lot. The boss brought it up today that she’s stressed and we’re so busy. I THINK I talked her in to giving up some of her oversight on everything. It is making the video process a lot longer than it needs to be. We’ll see if it helps.

Marty skipped going to the gym and we went out for supper. I had to make reservations for 4 p.m. That was the only option other than 8:30. After supper we went to the Teddy Bear Estate to see sunset from there. They started to put the footers down. Ooh.

Take care.
Marcy

Good morning lovely ladies and happy terrific Thursday!

@MamaBee YUmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and TY! XOXO

@marcy thank you. 4PM for supper is purrrrrfect IMO. 830PM is way too close to bedtime lol. Ooh nice that TBE is coming long and I bet is was a very pretty sunset

@Austina have fun at Costco if you go today. We went yesterday and wow it was crowded. Thinking about it I think it's because of the storm the day before and probably everyone who would have gone Tuesday went Wednesday instead to avoid the tuesday storm. I had never seen it that crowded in recent memory at least.

@canuk-gal yay clean rug. Good for you and hope the rest of your VD was lovely. I have to vacuum almost daily but don't always then regret it. Rugs are a nope in our house except for my exercise room that is carpeted to absorb the noise. And our kitties are not allowed in that room. I do not love vacuuming carpet. It's much more challenging than vacuuming bare wood floors.

@Slickk hope you had a romantic lovely VD and yay just two more days and vacation woohoo

@bling_dream19 hope you had a wonderful romantic day

Hello everyone else. Another cold day here. Yesterday we ran errands and got a lot accomplished. Greg has X-Rays this morning which is a distance away and then not sure what our plans are for the rest of the day. Probably not walking for me as it is very cold and windy and the wind here can be very rough. So I will see what the actual prediction is and then decide. I hope you all enjoy a terrific Thursday. XOXO

HI:

My DH surprised me last night with a homemade card and a DVD that was difficult to find! It was a lovely VD surprise! I got him nothing LOL

cheers--Sharon

@marcy
I make two sheet size pizzas..It makes a lot so I freeze portions to heat up at another time in the oven. They actually taste better heating it up after being refrigerated or frozen. You can fiddle with it to make less..This is for two sheet pans..

Dough:
7 cups all purpose flour..I use Gold Medal
2 pkgs rapid rise yeast
1.5 teaspoons of white sugar
1.5 teaspoons kosher salt (Don’t use regular salt)
3 Tablespoons olive oil
I use warm water to mix the dough..Use a thermometer to make sure it’s warm but not too hot. 110-115 degrees is good..I don’t measure it. I keep adding until I get the right consistency for kneading. When it gets to the point where it becomes pliable and all the dry flour is incorporated while kneading...I roll it into a ball. I put a bit of olive oil in a large bowl and roll the dough to cover it in the oil. Put Saran Wrap over the top and cover the bowl with a bunch of towels to keep the dough warm. I still make it rise an hour even though it’s rapid rise yeast..In the meantime preheat the oven to 475-500 degrees depending on how thick the dough in the pan is..If it’s on the thicker size then bake at 475...When the hour is over I put the dough onto the counter and slice it in half. One half will be used for each pan. Since it’s a sheet pan..I usually just spread the dough with my hands instead of rolling it out. It’s hard to transfer when the dough is a long rectangle but I still do that sometimes. Add your sauce to within an inch of the edges. Spread mozzarella to the edge of the sauce..brush a little olive oil on the crust area being careful not to touch the sauce. Bake until the bottom is brown and cheese is lightly browned..I sometimes will put aluminum foil on the crust to keep them from being burned..
This is something I made up so its not a regular recipe..If you want the recipe for my base tomato sauce I use for everything let me know. I use the base as a pizza sauce.

Hi NIRDI's!

@MamaBee thank you so much for the recipe. I will have to give that a try. If Marty is eating pizza, both pizzas will be barely enough. If it's for me, I'll get lots of leftovers from 1/2 the recipe. I appreciate it.

@canuk-gal how sweet of your DH to make you a card. I am glad it was a lovely surprise. Is your DVD a movie?

@missy I hope Greg's X-rays were okay and that his knee hurts less and bends a bit more each day. I ran to the store yesterday morning. Lots of people there too. Gracie looks like she has it pretty good.

Last night we sprung for $3.99 to rent Down Periscope. One of our favorite movies. It has some great lines in it that amuse us.

I only worked 8 hours today. I made suggestions yesterday on cutting some preview / review steps on videos to save us all time. It worked great today, but we'll see if it lasts. As a former boss, I get being OCD about checking everything, but you have to let go sometime and trust the work will get done right. A video that usually takes me off and on over a day, got done and posted in under 3 hours. I feel liberated. Ha Ha.

Off to lift and then knit.

Take care.
Marcy

HI:

@marcy I recall that movie you rented!!! It was funny. My DH bought me/us "Bowfinger". Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin. Genius. Or at least we think it is.

Your house is on the move!!! WOW!! Places here are under reno/construction for years..........

cheers--Sharon

@canuk-gal I’ll have to find that movie you got. Their movies are generally funny. I think this builder will be anxious to get this house done. He’s building on the lot next to us as well, so that probably works out to get both done a bit quicker than normal. Or so, I’d like to believe. Ha Ha.

Hello lovelies

Wow @marcy, it’s beginning to take shape. Did they say how long the build would take? Glad you ‘only’ worked 8 hours today, that’s still 8 hours too much in my world  Great that you were able to shorten the time between production and posting, let’s hope they follow your guidelines to do that. Is that the one with Kelsey Grammar? If so, we like that film too. I often tell Colin we’re really old people now because we eat dinner quite early these days, but I can’t eat too late anymore.

How sweet @canuk-gal, he’s not a bad old stick is he? I’m glad he appreciates you and made the effort.

Wow @MamaBee, what a good Mama you are. I usually buy the base pre-made when we have pizza and add the sauce and topping. Yours look delicious, I’d be lying if I said I’d try the recipe, but I’m too lazy for that.

I hope you got to and from the x-ray place safely today @missy, and you didn’t have long to wait when you got there. How’s Greg getting on with his new PT regime? Fortunately, our Costco wasn’t super busy today, so we got in and out with a fairly light bill today, then headed to do our usual Thursday food shopping.

I went out for a walk with L this morning, we ended up being out for an hour, it was lovely out, not sure what the temp was, but it was really mild. I do feel sorry for her because she doesn’t have a lot in common with most of the younger women here, who seem to be good time girls who like going out drinking, which just isn’t her. She was telling me that one of the ladies she was quite friendly with, sent her some information yesterday, and she’s a flat earther!! Oy!

We’re just about to eat, stay safe and well.

:wavey:

GM girls and happy FriYAY!

@canuk-gal aww that is so romantic and sweet. You know what is also sweet? Spring is coming woohoo. But not fast enough as we have another snowstorm on the way. A snowy winter was predicted here and they were (unfortunately) correct this time. Stay warm and cozy

@MamaBee I love pizza and miss it. Enjoy enough for all of us please. How is your mom doing? I hate hearing she is surrounded by Covid patients. May she stay safe and healthy and well

@marcy haha yes Princess Gracie does have it pretty good though last night I wanted to murder her (JK). She scratched Bobby (she does not like him for some reason and it is very upsetting) and he was bleeding and it was chaotic. We had to catch Bobby and clean the cut and apply antibiotic and with cats that is not easy. Bobby ended up drawing blood from Greg in three separate places on his arm and finger so I had to take care of two victims yesterday. LOL but not LOL. These cats are incorrigible. Sweet you got 8 hours in and the video accomplished. And then onto lifting and knitting. Today is my "lifting" day

@Austina yes thank you. Greg actually went by himself for the X-rays because it was over an hour away and an early appointment and he didn't need me to go with him. And the PA called yesterday afternoon to let him know his X-rays are perfect so yay for that. I am glad you enjoyed a walk yesterday and I decided to go for one also and ended up walking for two hours despite the cold. My parka really keeps me so warm and comfy. And the heat packs in my gloves keep my hands and fingers toasty warm. Hope you have a lovely friYAY

@Slickk yay the weekend is almost here...weekend plans? We are hoping to visit my dad despite the snowstorm due to be here tonight into tomorrow. Hope your plans are fun and filed with lots of love and joy with family

@bling_dream19 happy FriYAY sweet girl...hope you are having a good week

@springerspaniel hope all is well and love to the furry babies

@mrs-b thinking of you and hoping everyone is doing as well as possible
Hello everyone else.

I actually did go for a walk yesterday. It was a mental struggle to go out but I forced myself and it was a good walk. Unfortunately the path I usually take is covered with snow and ice and we are expecting another snow storm tonight into all day tomorrow so that path won't be usable for weeks and weeks. Because the snow and ice does not melt there due to it being very shaded. So I will walk a different area but that is my favorite local walk. I hope Greg is back to walking and then hiking soon. I just don't remember his recovery process from four years ago but I do know it took months. He is bending the knee more now with me using my body weight and my leg to help push his back but I cannot be sure it is 90 degrees as I am unsure as to where we measure from...but in any case we are doing the exercises four times a day and hoping he is making sufficient improvements

May your friYAY be filled with lots of good things and lots of YAY...XOXO

Good morning!
@marcy Wow..Your house will be in a gorgeous area! I will love seeing the photos as they goes up.
@missy That’s great news that Greg’s X-rays were good!
Pushing all your weight to bend his knee should be a workout for you too!
Ouch to Greg getting scratched by Bobbie..Poor guy..both of them..lol
That’s good you’re still getting outside walking while Greg is recuperating. Your photos are beautiful! Do you wear a Canada Goose parka? I think I remember that...but who knows. My memory isn’t what it used to be.
@canuk-gal I think your husband making you a homemade card is just soooooo sweet..
@Austina That’s nice you’re able to be a friend to that young girl. I had to think about it and ask S if a flat earther was a person who believed the earth was flat. Oh no..lol
I may try to pass off a ready made pizza shell to David next time..They even have dough in the stores that are ready made..I think you bring it to room temperature and then roll it out.
Hi to everyone else..We‘re leaving for Va today. I wasn’t able to see my mom which is upsetting. She’s 98 years old so I feel time is precious right now. She can’t leave the floor because of lockdown..but visitors are able to visit. They keep the Covid patients in their normal rooms..no more isolation on a different floor. It’s crazy..I don’t want to risk going there and getting it myself. She safer in her room because she doesn't mingle with people. We would have to bypass potential Covid residents in the hall. The social worker said it won’t be clear or safe for me to visit her until the floor gets three negative Covid tests in a row...”considering your age..”
I truly become a wreck during this ride. It’s over three hours long with my husband driving..:eek-2:
XOXO

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!

@missy I hope Spring is in the air!!!!! It was -16C overnight and was BRISK when I went out but now it is -1 and sunny!!!!!! No wind and not a cloud in the sky. Such is life in the Rockies. Nice you are visiting your family! Drive safe!

@Austina LOL old stick is apropos!! He did a good job! I LOL with the picture of me washing dishes and a bottle of Dawn....

@marcy I am glad you are enjoying your job. That's really important. It isn't easy to transition into something new but you've done it beautifully.

@MamaBee hope your Mom is in good spirits. Drive safe and be well!

While I was waiting for our Japanese takeout I popped into a consignment store and WOW did they have some high end stuff there! I think I see a pair of (like new) LV boots in my future!!! I didn't have time today to try things on (errands day) but HEY there is always tomorrow!

cheers--Sharon

Happy FriYay lovelies

Yes @MamaBee, this woman actually believes the earth is flat!!!! Some ‘Pastor’ is trying to tell his congregation that it says so in the bible! L is quite religious and knows it says nothing of the sort, but is mindful of not alienating this woman as their sons go to the same school and she doesn’t want any backlash on him. We both think that she and her ilk are crackpots! I’m L’s in loco parentis when her Mum isn’t here, and C views Colin as his surrogate father. We are very lucky that they are such good neighbours, always so considerate and kind to us. I’m so sorry there’s another outbreak of Covid at your Mum’s facility, and I know how disappointed you must be at not being able to visit, but it’s no joke at any age. Hopefully, she’ll be safe in her room until everyone is better. Safe travels today.

Dare I tell you it’s 75 degs F here today @canuk-gal ? We’ll probably put the pool heater on over the weekend now the air temps warm enough to be outside. Sounds like the consignment shop could have some good stuff, hopefully the boots will still be there when you go back.

Be careful out in the snow and ice @missy, it’s so easy to slip and fall. Poor Bobby and Greg, that little minx flexing her claws! Can you take a photo of Greg’s knee flexed from the side, so you can compare photos week on week to see if there’s a difference. I hope you can get to visit your Dad at the w/e, I’m sure it’d perk him up no end to see you.

We had to take the O rings back that Colin ordered for the pool filter, they were too big, and Colin wanted to get some petrol for the mower. The gardening services seem to have started mowing again even though the grass is brown and crispy.

Have a lovely weekend lovely NIRDis, no plans for us, maybe if it stays this warm, we’ll spend some time outside.

:wavey:

Happy Sunday, ladies!

@missy - I'm so pleased that Greg's knee is doing better! Does that mean he's reached the 90% angle? You're obviously doing all the right things with exercises! All that walking and fitness is obviously standing him in good stead - I've never heard of someone recovering that quickly! My sister was in rehab for weeks after her surgery, and her pain was...a lot. And she's always been super tough when it comes to physical issues. But she didn't have Greg's level of fitness, so it just goes to show - everything they say about keeping your weight down and exercising is true and comes back in one's favor at a time like this. I'm glad you got to go walking on Thursday - but please be careful re the ice! A broken limb is the LAST thing you need! How is your Dad doing?

@canuk-gal - your consignment store sounds like a lot of fun! (And so does your Japanese take out!) I hope the LV boots are in your future, too! What is the snow like where you are? Do you have a big build up, or is the ground snow-clear? I dont mind cold weather, and I like snow-ING - but snow on paths and footpaths scares me! And I'm glad your DH came through on VD - well deserved!

@marcy - WOW! Your house is progressing so fast! What is the time frame for this sort of project? Are you hoping to be in during the summer? I hope this continues to progress quickly and you can make the hop from one house to the next easily. The vest came out beautifully! I hope your friend loves it! And, as for the 8 hours of work you did the other day, I am officially rescinding your "I am retired" card!

@Austina - I'm sorry your filter isn't working right as yet. Our gas heaters continue to drive us nuts. We had the new one downstairs hooked up on Thursday, but hadn't placed the sand/ash/stones as yet - and about a minute after turning on the one upstairs, Eleanor came racing upstairs screaming - "There's a fire! There's a fire!" Tim went racing downstairs, and on a hunch I turned off the living room fire. Turns out they were connected to the same remote, and, without all the sand/ash/rock inserts to dampen down the fire, it was just this huge ball of flame in the fireplace! Went out when I turned off the one upstairs, but *that* won't be happening again any time soon! We've never had a house fire, and it's one experience I hope I never have. On a different note - flat earthers puzzle me. It's exhausting going through life thinking everyone is lying to you all the time. And just by the way - no, the Bible doesn't say so! I have a degree in theology and I can say that for a fact. Honestly - the things that get attributed to Christianity - sheesh!

@MamaBee - seriously - I always worry a little when you say you're switching houses, until you post again. I hope the drive was ok and that S didn't scare you to death! And I'm so sorry to hear about your mom - may she get well very soon! Did you hear that the CDC is considering lifting the 5 days of isolation recommendations for Covid? They haven't done it as yet - tho certain states like CA already have. Seems premature to me, and, being on immuno suppressants, Tim and I still err on the side of caution. Given how sick we all got the ONE time we were in a crowd in December, we've gone back to wearing masks. And I'm ok with that!

Things here are going well. I feel like the last 6 months have been a blur and I can't remember if I told you all that Tim swapped jobs a few months back. All the health stuff he went through was just too much in the end, and combined with a high stress job, he decided it was time to make a serious change. He's now doing about half the work and has around 10% of the stress and is the heppiest I've seen him in, literally, decades. He has WAY more time to himself, and is sleeping much better. His chest infection has been gone for some weeks now, so all is well there. He's doing between 30 and 35 hours a week now (he used to do 60), and considers himself to be semi retired. And I get to go out to coffee/lunch/the movies with him whenever I want. He's doing contract work now and does as much as he wants at the times that suit him.

Re Wendy - she is much improved. She's back to work now - tho next week will be her first full time week. She's also driving and can mostly do all the things around the house that are essential. For the garden, she's hired a gardener, and for things like changing the sheets she gets help from one of her sons who only lives a few streets away. So she's doing well and working hard at PT to get mobility and strength back as soon as possible. So we can sign off on that disaster!

As for me, I'm feeling better, tho cannot seem to get rid of this cough and often have what feels like the beginning of tonsilitis. I haven't had my CT scan as yet and will go to the hospital next week for some tests. On the whole, tho, I'm feeling way better and largely back to normal. I'm also doing two projects with DKJ and have started what will be a very long term project with Jordy from M's Opals. So I have sparklies on the horizon!

The storm on Tuesday was a non event for us. Very little snow on the ground and no real inconvenience at all. Waaaaay less than we were expecting! Valentine's Day was a joy. We were going to go out for dinner, then both changed our minds about it on the Tuesday. We exchanged cards and small gifts and I received some lovely flowers. I gave Eleanor some gifts and a card, and she was happy as a clam! So - a good day was had by all. This weekend I think we're going to see Beekeeper - a movie with Jason Statham - all action, as his films generally are.

Love to you all and wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Good morning girls! Happy Caturday Saturday!

@mrs-b yay! So happy to hear you and Tim and Wendy are all doing well. I am also thrilled Tim loves his new job and I was hoping that would be the case when he decided to make the change. Very smart. As for your cough I hope that resolves very soon. Oh my gosh so exciting two projects with David Klass and a long term opal project...cannot wait to hear or see more! Sparklies on the horizon is always something I get excited about!

@canuk-gal good morning! We have 6" of snow so it looks like a no go to see my dad today...we will try for tomorrow. I am disappointed and told him we would be there today but was not expecting this much snow. Original prediction was 1-3" and somehow we have 6"...boo. Glad you enjoyed a brisk walk yesterday and yay for a good high end consignment store. I got one of my favorite evening dresses from a high end consignment store in our NYC neighborhood years ago. It was a beautiful dress and I got so many compliments the one time I wore it..black tie dress so no need to wear it again with the way life is going lol. Plus I doubt I would fit into it as I was super skinny at that time IIRC

@MamaBee yes your memory is good! Hope you had a good trip to Va and your mom is hanging in there and you can visit her soon. That is how I feel with my dad's situation. Covid is all around but we have to visit so we wear masks and hope for the best. If Greg or I get Covid it will be likely serious as we both have asthma and underlying conditions. So trying hard to avoid it but unfortunately I think it is impossible to avoid forever. Especially because my parents keep needing hospital care. Have fun in VA!

@Austina you are so right and I will be super careful. Not going out to walk today due to 6" of snow and no Greg to help me. If he was fully recovered we probably would have gone hiking as we have done it before in the snow. I wear my boots with the spikes and we are good to go. But I would not dare attempt it without him. Photos are a good idea and last time we did take some photos. But I didn't take any this time. I am more squeamish than I used to be if that is possible. LOL. Have a great weekend and enjoy your mild weather!

@marcy enjoy a relaxing non working (I hope) weekend!

@Slickk happy February break!

@bling_dream19 happy weekend!

Just btw, I'm aware it's Saturday, not Sunday! Not quite losing my mind yet, but obviously distracted! Too late to go back and edit. :roll2:

@mrs-b I am usually in a rush so my spelling and odd words are frustrating! It makes me crazy I can’t change them. If it’s any consolation I never know what day it is! lol
