Now I really did it :((

Girls my dad passed out two hours ago and the ambulance rushed him to the hospital. We’re heading there now. His blood pressure went from 60/40 to 240/180 so I don’t know what’s happening and my mom fears he won’t make it. Please keep him in your thoughts. Thank you

OMG @missy, I’m so sorry, keeping everything crossed your dear Dad will be stabilised by the time you get there.

Oh no @missy ! So sorry to read this. Sending warm ((hugs)) your way and lots of healing vibes to dad and mom. ❤️

But who’s counting? I need a break so badly. Running on fumes here.
Hi to all NIRDIs!! :wavey:

Thanks so much @Slickk and @canuk-gal and @Austina

He was in the ER all day and admitted but no rooms so they were putting him in the step down unit last night. His WBCs are 28,000; his bp initially 60/40; and he was not stable. They put him on meds to raise his bp and he had all sorts of tests. Cat scans, X-rays, sonograms, blood tests, etc...Everything was negative (they also tested for Covid and RSV and a few others I forget) but now they think he has 1.sepsis and 2. infectious colitis but they are not sure. My mom stayed overnight at the hospital with my dad and I am waiting to hear from her as it is early here and I do not want to wake her if by some miracle she is sleeping.

Hope everyone is well..have a wonderful Wednesday all. XOXO

Leaving you with a photo I took last night..Oliver was laying in between us purring up a storm. He can be a love bug though he more often is a terror lol

Aww the blissful ignorance of a well loved, well fed, well taken care of kitty.

Goodness @missy so sorry to hear this. Praying for your dad to heal and recover and hospital staff to take excellent care.

Sending warm, loving thoughts your way and hoping your father recovers soon, @missy

Keeping you all in our thoughts @missy, and hoping your Dad is comfortable and recovering.

@missy So sorry to hear that your Dad is not doing well at all. :cry2: Sending you and your family strength and your Dad good vibes to make it through this hurdle. Gentle hugs.

HI:

@missy tough times. Hang in there and healing vibes to your family!

kind regards--Sharon

@missy I am so sorry about your dad. Big hugs to all of you, I’m keeping you in my thoughts.

Marcy

Good morning lovely ladies. Happy terrific Thursday.

Thank you @bling_dream19 @springerspaniel @canuk-gal @Slickk @Austina @finerthings @marcy @OboeGal and if I missed anyone my apologies. But I want you to know how much it means to me you care and I so appreciate the well wishes for my dad. He is such a good person. Kind, generous, always there to help others. He and Greg are the two best people I know. And before that my grandma (mom's mom) may she RIP.

My dad's blood pressure was not stable Tuesday night into Wednesday but over the day they were able to stabilize it again. Now the doctors think he has a viral gastroenteritis but with a WBC count of 28,000 there has to be a bacterial component right? The doctors were not sure of the diagnosis though and he is still on IV antibiotics. So perhaps a combo of viral and bacterial but again no one knows.

I am waiting for a decent hour to call my mom to see how he did overnight.

We did go cycling yesterday. It was good to get out of my head for a while but I am very worried about my dad. And It's frustrating because there is so little we can do. Fortunately we think he is getting competent care and pleased with the way NYU is taking care of him but at his age I feel there is only so much one can do especially given the fact he is 90. His mind is sharp but his body is failing. :(

I am going to leave you all on an upbeat note with a photo from yesterday.
And thank you all for caring and for keeping my dad in your thoughts. Greatly appreciated. XOXO

Enjoy a terrific Thursday girls. Be well. (((Hugs)))

I forgot to share what happened Tuesday. We drove three hours to get there and the security refused to let us see my dad because my mom and sister were there and they have a two person limit even in the ER which we didn’t know. My mom came out and started yelling at the security guard because he was refusing despite us thinking this might be my dad’s last day on earth. Long story short the security guard threw his arms up in the air and told Greg and me to just go in to the ER. LOL my mom who’s a tiny petite elderly woman who can barely walk up against this huge security guard and it would have been funny if the situation wasn’t so dire. I apologized to the security guard and he was very nice about it. Sometimes rules need to be flexible in life and death situations. Common sense goes a long way. Sharing this experience in case it can help others. Similar experience with my mil which I think I shared. But this time I was the one negotiating with the hospital staff to allow all three brothers to see their mom at the same time to say goodbye together. She was dying and Covid regulations were strict. Fortunately common sense won that time too. I remained calm. Unlike my mom. Lol

I’m glad to hear your Dad is hanging on @missy, and is getting the care he needs. I’m so sorry your Mum had to go through that with the ‘Jobsworth’, and glad you got to see your Dad. Honestly, in these situations, a little common sense goes a long way.

I'm so sorry your dad is going throught all this, Missy! It has to be so hard on all of you.

@missy, I'm glad he's hanging in there and getting good care. I'm continuing to send healing thoughts his way, and holding all of you in my heart.

I was so sorry to read about your father today, @missy. I've been praying for him and your mom for months now and will continue to do so. I wish him comfort and a sense of safety, being cared for and being loved. And wishing you strength to deal with this difficult time.

@Slickk - counting down the days with you!

As for me - David left yesterday evening after 5 days in MA, during which time he hired a car and toured around looking at real estate. I had hoped to go with him, but my crohn's has been very unreliable lately, so long trips in the car were not happening. Eleanor went instead and it gave them some well deserved daddy-daughter time. It was a very useful trip and I think he's found the town for him - which is a big deal when you're coming into an area that you had hitherto known nothing about.

Ballin had his teeth cleaned today and we're just back after picking him up from the vet. His skin is terrible again, it being spring and all allergens at an all-time high - both in the air and on the ground. 3 of his 4 paws are hideously inflamed, as is his belly, and we are virtually living at the vet's. Poor little puppy. He's currently on 2 meds and one cream, plus he gets a medicated rinse every day. He's battled this stuff all his life and I think life for him would have been miserable, were he not showered with love more or less 24 hours a day. Cirrus, on the other paw, is the picture of health and canine dominance, which is nice for him and pretty much another misery for Ballin. So we keep them largely separate except for night time - when they sleep together on the bed as tho they're the best of friends. Go figure.

It's my birthday 2 weeks from today and we're gearing up for an influx of visitors. Looking forward to the celebrations - not to the permanent outward marking of advancing age. Sigh. One more year and I think I'll fit EVERY group's definition of retiree/elderly/irrelevancy. So f*cking depressing.

Wow. That sure took a turn. Hoping all the NIRDI's are having a thriving Thursday!

<3

@missy - re your mom and the security guard - AWESOME!

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I am glad your dad’s BP is better and hope they can figure out what’s going on. They have the 2 person rule here too. I think that’s something that should be enforced only in certain situations. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

@mrs-b that’s great David might have found the perfect spot. That’s important. That’s wonderful you’ll have company to celebrate your birthday.

Not much new here today. They showed up at 7 a.m. to put new shingles on the house. They’ve been here almost 11 hours now. They said they’d get done today. I should have thought ahead and made some cookies for them.

I worked some, only about 7 hours. We had the paint guy come by too. Time is rushing forward.

Take care.
Marcy

HI:

NIDRI shout out!!!!!!

Lovely warm day. Cycled and walked. Did some errands. Low on the trill-o-meter but appreciated no threat of rain (it's been a while!!)

@missy I'm happy you got to see your Pops. Hope he improves!! Your Mom is a hero!
@marcy things are moving right along! That just never happens here......
@mrs-b I'm happy the area/house hunting was fruitful! Keep yourself well.
@Austina how are the roses?

cheers--Sharon

Good morning lovely ladies and happy FriYAY!

Thank you so much for your kind support and well wishes for my dad!
@Austina @OboeGal @pearlsngems @marcy @canuk-gal @mrs-b @Slickk @bling_dream19 and everyone who has reached out to me off and online. Thank you!!! I am hoping the collective well wishes will help my dad recover. I believe in good energy. His blood pressure has stabilized but yesterday they thought they saw swelling in the brain but then the doctor called my mom and said he doesn't think it's swelling or anything to worry about. But of course I am wondering what it was they saw. He's had many different tests. His WBC count went down to 14K yesterday so that is moving in the right direction. I have not had the morning update yet.

@Slickk woohoo you are almost on your very well deserved summer vacation and I know (I would be) you are counting down the days!

@bling_dream19 sweet friend hope all is going smoothly...I want to see you at the jersey shore and we can meet at jimmy's :) and then at Tom and Dave's...Tom told us this is definitely their last summer...sad because they are a jersey shore staple and since Nagles closed OG will be without any good ice cream.

@canuk-gal haha yes. She sets a good example of a strong woman and she gave us the building blocks to be successful at life. Because let's face it life is challenging and getting old even more so though it beats the alternative as we all know. For the most part that is. Yay for cycling and walking and girl, I want low low low on the trill o meter lol

@marcy yay for only working 7 hours lol and double yay for shingles going on the new house. You are so thoughtful and kind and I bet they would love cookies if you go ahead and bake them. Greg baked cookies for my surgeon and his PA (months after the surgery) and they really appreciated it...nothing like a homemade delicious gift to show how thankful we are to them.

@OboeGal thank you so much for your kindness and well wishes. It means so much to me. Sending you hugs and well wishes and hoping all is going well for you and your family

@mrs-b poor Ballin...please hug him and kiss him from me. And happy almost birthday...I know what you mean and we really do not celebrate birthdays anymore. We just gradually stopped. I mean we acknowledge the day and if it's a riding day we do the years in miles but that's really it. Anyway wishing you a very happy birthday month

@springerspaniel how is your almost summer going? Thank you so much for your well wishes for my dad. Truly appreciate it. Hope you are having a wonderful week and all is going well

@finerthings thank you so much. Sending you lots of good wishes and hoping you are having a good spring. Summer is almost here and I am trying to slow things down a bit as it is all going so fast

Hope everyone is doing well. Yesterday we got a lot accomplished and it's feeling like summer here now. Today we are probably going cycling unless my dad takes a turn for the worse. I am still waiting to hear a morning update. One day at a time. Sending everyone big hugs and lots of love. Enjoy a friYAY filled with YAY and only good things XOXO

Leaving you with sweet sweet Fresca last night before the sun set...It gives me such a sense of well being seeing the ferals content and well fed and safe. They are the first ones (besides Greg and our kitties of course) I see every morning. All waiting for me to feed them. Pepsi is right on our stoop against the glass door looking at me every single morning and she is precious. She gets so close to me that yesterday I tried petting her but no go. LOL. They are ferals after all but oh I just want to hug them and pet them and show them how much I love them. Fresca is always right behind Pepsi in the AM and Dr Pepper behind her. Dr Pepper is the most skittish and looks like our Tommy cat.

May your FriYAY be purrrrrfect in every way ((((Hugs))))

And if you aren't familiar with Blur and this song check it out. The line "gives me a sense of enormous well being" as he feeds the sparrows and pigeons...that is how I feel 100% with the feral kitties. As soon as I heard that line years ago I was like, yes! Exactly! :)

PSA

So I just bought some Daisy by Marc Jacobs. Sprayed some on. Now, whenever Cirrus comes even vaguely close to me, he starts sneezing like all get out!

I don't see this in my starting line up in the future, tho dog sneezes *are* about the cutest thing on earth!

Buyer beware!

Good morning girls! Happy Caturday Saturday!

@mrs-b I feel for Cirrus. I, too, cannot tolerate fragrances anymore. In fact, in my allergist's office he has a sign asking people to please not wear any fragrance when coming to the office. Some of us are so sensitive. I hope Cirrus is fully recovered from yesterday. Hope you are off to a good start this weekend...today is nice here but we are expecting rain tomorrow sadly...cycling is on the agenda today no surprise there

Hello everyone else. Hope all is well.

Yesterday was a good cycling day and hoping for more of the same today. It's very warm here and definitely feels like summer now
My dad's tests showed two viruses and a bacterial infection in the blood. He is very very weak but stable. And in true hospital fashion they are already discussing discharge. My experience since September (my dad's first hospitalization starting this entire ordeal) is they rush you out because they need the beds. Even if the patient is not medically ready to be discharged. It's crazy. But we shall see because nothing official yet and his WBC count while it has come down is still elevated and he is in no shape to be discharged.

This AM the gang of three met me at the front door and it was too adorable. And for the first time ever Pepsi was the last to meander over to the wet food (she is usually the first to run to the wet food as soon as I put it out) as first she went back on the stoop to the glass door and meowed at me. That was the first time I ever heard her meow. She is trying to tell me something but I do not know what...maybe she wants to come inside? But I doubt she wants to leave Fresca and Dr Pepper and small Pepsi...I need to figure out what she is trying to say...she is a big furry ball of love. I absolutely melt when she and Fresca rub against each other. They have such affection for each other. It's really a sight to behold

One of our ferals Sasha (all black big kitty who always looks beat up) has been coming early to eat as well and the others do not like her because when she arrives they back away and just watch her eat. After Sasha was done I went back out and refilled all the plates because they have been eating a lot lately. I have already gone through 12 cans this AM!!! And remember I feed them four times a day. At least. And now we are stuck ordering all this cat food constantly because as Greg says we cannot stop. They expect the wet food. But man, they are hungry little babies lol.

OK enough of my blathering lol

Some photos from yesterday

Hello Lovelies

Well at least they know what’s wrong now, so that’s a start @missy. Your poor Dad and all that he’s been/going through. Hopefully, they won’t just discharge him without him being completely over the infections. It seems very short sighted to discharge a patient who isn’t well enough to go home. Your kitties must be the best care for in the whole world! They’re so fortunate that you care for them so much.

Poor Cirrus @mrs-b, thankfully none of ours have had allergies, although Spinoni are prone to ear problems, but Dottie was fine. Glad David has found an area he likes, that’s half the battle won, now just to find the perfect home. At least you’re not going to be officially an OAP like me this birthday, how on earth did that happen ?

Are you having another open house this weekend @marcy, or did those people up their offer? It’s getting really close to TBE being ready, have you been out to check on the progress?

How’s the weather @canuk-gal, our air index was 114 yesterday :eek-2: Needless to say we spent a lot of time in the pool.

Not a lot going on here, it’s HOT, HOT, HOT, so we’ll be in the pool trying to keep cool.

Did I mention that a little bird has made a nest in our butchers block on the back porch? I noticed it flying back and forth, so when I looked, it’d set up home in one of the baskets. There was 6 eggs originally, then there were 7, and when I looked yesterday, the 7th, which was considerably bigger than the others, has hatched. There’s a little ball of fluff and feathers in the nest now.

Have a great weekend :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!

Cold and windy today. Frost warning tonight? Can't make this stuff up. Cleaned the place and went to the Italian market. That's it!!!!! Had a nice ride and walk in lovely weather yesterday,

@missy sorry you can no longer wear your perfume. I know you have a lovely collection.
@mrs-b any of your new goodies arrive?
@Austina nice to have a little family on your property!
@MamaBee Hope you are OK--I think of you often.
@marcy how is the house selling coming along?

cheers--Sharon

Oh gees, @missy - 2 viruses and a bacterial infection? I'm so sorry! He must feel ghastly. Thinking of you all and hoping they can help him before discharging him (!!). I hope your cycling today was wonderful and that you enjoyed this gorgeous weather. And the kitties look wonderful. <3

@canuk-gal - the two small projects I was doing with DKJ arrived, and my new diamond - but nothing else. Still feel a bit like I'm spinning my wheels.

@marcy - I'd love to see some more photos of TBE if you get out there this weekend and you feel inclined to snap a few... Any progress on your sale?

@Austina - I might not be an OPA yet (what age is that - 65?) - but I sure feel like one.

Gut has been terrible for the last few days (months, really, but borderline unbearable for the last few days) and I'm about to head to the ED with Tim. Lots of pain and heart racing. Feeling very low.

Hoping you all feel better than me and that your weekend is going well.

Yikes, good luck @mrs-b, hope they can give you/do something to give you some relief.

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I sure hope they don’t release your dad yet, but that seems to be the way they do it these days. Glad they figured out what’s going on and hope he is doing better soon. I love hearing how the kitties are waiting and eager for their fine dining. They know you aren’t a threat anymore. I’m with you on scents. I just threw out some cleaning products I picked up because they were making me sneeze in the cupboard in our utilitiy room.

@mrs-b I sure hate to hear you and Tim are both having flareups. I hope you are both feeling better. Yes dogs sneezing is pretty cute. Poor Cirrus, I often say stupid allergies. I know mine will be bad at TBE, some of my worst allergies are weeds, and there are a lot of them on the prairie. Do you like new DKJ projects? I’d love to see pictures of them. And I’m going to TBE estate tomorrow so will get new pictures.

@Austina I saw it was very hot there. Try to stay cool. My in laws in Arizona are having the same problem. We were near 80 hear today. But we had rain roll through and cool us off. How cute to have some babies in the nest. I like them until they start chirping when the sun comes up.

@canuk-gal this builder is moving along on TBE. Did it end up being cold enough for a freeze? We’ve been dipping in the 40’s or 50’s at nights, but not below freezing.

We did have another open house today. Our realtor said she had two she thought were serious buyers and one was a repeat from the last open house who returned with their parents. Maybe … Marty and I wanted to get in to TBE this weekend and look around. I got a chilly response from the builder’s realtor who deflected to our realtor to let us in. Our realtor then said she let the builder’s realtor know it was not appreciated we weren’t notified of the closing date in a more timely manner. I hope the builder doesn’t take it out on us. Oh well … And now that we’ve replaced our roof, I sure hope we don’t get another hail storm. They are painting the two sides of our house with the egg damage this week. Hoping we get an offer soon and they agree to give us a day to move out. I don’t know how that works.

Take care.
Marcy

2.43am and I'm in a fairly comfortable room in the ED, waiting for someone to move out of their room in the hospital so I can be admitted. Apparently I'll be here till Monday/Tuesday, as I have some sort of a blockage which showed up slightly on the CT scan. What was most obvious was that every mouthful I'd eaten at lunch at 2pm was still in my stomach at 11.30pm. Not draining at all. QED - a blockage. Could be a stricture of the small intestine, an ulcer, some sort of growth - benign or otherwise. All will be checked out, probably on Monday, since most procedures don't happen on Sunday. In the meantime, I'm nil by mouth. <sigh> Did I mention it's my birthday in 11 days?? Ugh. Multiple guests arriving next week also, so this should be interesting.

Seriously - I NEED MY NEW JEWELRY! <major sulk going on here>
