Jimmianne, thanks for your comforting support yesterday! I edited my post above to add some more pics. I cannot wait to redo the kitchen at the beach house and the only thing limiting me will be money hahaha. Not sure about how Bobby is doing yet because I didn't check the whole house for vomit or check the litter box. I didn't sleep well and woke up at 2 AM and then was pretty much up for the rest of the night/morning not that its 's a good excuse but I am so tired. Will check right after I post this here for you though. But he did eat after we pilled him so that is a good sign.

And HA I need charts now too to keep it all straight. Half the time I go into a room and forget why I went there LOL. But I figure this is good brain exercise to keep our minds thinking and young. You know what the experts say...use it or lose it and the NIRDI thread makes you use it no? 8) :appl:

Your kitchen is beautiful. I love it just the way it is, but you and Greg always have such good ideas that I look forward to seeing changes when you do them. Meanwhile, that model you hired who is holding the fish? An enhancement for any kitchen!

Hahaha he would kill me I think if he knew how much I posted his photo here LOL. I often ask permission but if I have already posted the same pic I don't ask again. That seems fair no? :cheeky:

Thanks Jimmianne for the compliment re the kitchen but it is way too beige and bland for me yechhh. And well there is just not enough space. The island is stupid small (don't know what the previous owners were thinking) and I am hoping we can improve upon it all. Not anytime soon however as that basement depleted our disposable funds for now. But I am thrilled Greg is happy and pleased with his new workspace! That is more valuable to me than having the kitchen redone right now. I know hopefully in time we will get there.

OK I just checked for vomit and I didn't see any yay. Cleaned the litter boxes and there was loose stool but I didn't see any blood so whew on that. Will see how Bobby does as the day progresses. Thanks for checking in with me about him Jimmianne and Rainwood!

Any plans for today girls?

Just showed Greg your choices Jimmianne and he prefers the right side photo. I like them both but think the one on the right has a slight edge for me too.

thanks!
and GREAT news about Bobby.

ps. my tractor arrives at 9am and I get a brief lesson before heading to the mall for lunch at the Cheescake Factory. It has a front-end loader, a mower and a tiller. Another learning curve ahead! [to add to the French lessons and keeping up with the NIRDIs as they turn

Wow, a front end loader, a mower and a tiller! What more could a NIRDI girl ask for? :cheeky: :appl:
Yay!!! Please keep us posted and well you know, share pics if you can...remember you are talking to a tractor/snow plow girl here. Not just another city girl who doesn't know what end is up yanno. :cheeky:

All these learning curves are keeping you sharp. :halo: Have fun at lunch and enjoy some cheesecake for all of us. :lickout:

Hello beautiful NIRDIs :-)
Good but very busy day today. We are actually going out for dinner tonight with one of my best/oldest friends and her DH. Can't be anything but fantastic :-) She has been one of my closest friends since I was 2 years old, and now our DHs and children are friends also. Perfect world, lol :-) Oh, and I have had my eye lashes "renewed" this morning, and bought a new dress (not for tonight but for our holiday at Grand Canaria) so happy me, lol. Doesn't take much to make me happy! Just let me sleep in (we overslept today), a few indulgences, some new clothes, and a late dinner at a fancy restaurant! Good thing I'm easy to please.. LOL.

Tomorrow we are invited to visit some other friends to celebrate the birthday of one of my other best friends (with the children) so looks like a social and fun weekend ahead. And then we'll end it with a birthday party for my grandmother on Sunday :-) So we'll basically eat our way through the weekend, lol.

Rainwood, you are very right that the typical Scandinavian colour scheme is very light with grey, beige and white making up most of the colours, think IKEA for an overview. But I hate IKEA (sorry IKEA...) - it is too minimalistic for me. I love white, but the kind of white that is luxurious and set of with gold (or silver) details and marble and stone and the richness of the nature, if that makes any sense at all... Would love to see the colours of your home :-)

Missy, I have been thinking of Bobby all day. I hate it when an animal is sick! Hurts deep in my stomach. And I thought my baby (read: dog) was difficult to give pills, lol. I have to force her mouth open and stuff it into her, but she never does anything except look at me with a very hurt expression in her eyes. Thank you so so much for all the pictures of your apartment and beach house. I find so much inspiration and guidance from seeing such pictures! I hear you on the beige colours. A bit difficult to love beige I think.. it is just a bit boring without being clean and fresh the same way that white can be. That fish is BIG!

I'm a bit scared of fishes.. last summer we were out fishing in a boat, and my daughter caught a fish and my father was helping her, and he tells her to lift it into the boat, and it was not in a mood to die (go figure...?) and it was thrashing about and it hit my leg, and I screamed, any my DH came running because he thought we were drowning, lol. Sorry honey... But come on - if I had landed in the water, I would be swimming, not screaming...

Jimmianne, i really really LOVE LOVE LOVE (haha it will become more true if I say it several times, lol) your ring design ideas :-) I already look forward to an update :-) Congrats on the tractor! It sounds like a work horse :-) Do you have horses by the way? I love horses, but my DH is under the misinterpretation that a horse can not live in our living room! Men.... I think I have read that you clean out the stables, which has lead me to think that maybe you have stables? And thus maybe horses? Do tell! And please share pictures if relevant, LOL

Your beach house is so spectacular by the way Missy! That view! Beyond words!! And I also love your dream kitchen! I almost regret ordering blue kitchen cabinets, might change them to white ones... or not. I do love blue also. And all the walls will be white. Hmmmmmmmm... life is hard! :halo:  :halo:

Scandinavian, I appreciate your concern and caring for Bobby and he says puurrrrr to you thanking you too! Tommy is walking around hissing at Bobby still even though he has been home 24 hours now. I guess the hospital smell is still on him but it aggravates me the way Tommy is behaving. :(sad

LOL I hear you on the fish. I feel badly when I eat fish but everytime I go strictly vegan for more than 6 months months I see my health suffering a bit so I incorporate fresh fish when they are in season i.e. mainly the late spring and summer months. That's a bluefish Greg has in the pic. They are very tasty when grilled fresh. Even a day old makes them less palatable and you need these fish fresh or fuggedaboutit (that's a Brooklyn saying haha). But I do feel badly when I think about eating a living thing that we killed. ;(
I cannot bear to go fishing so we never do. We buy our fish from the seafood coop right near our beach house. We get it the day (usually just an hour or 2) after they catch it.

Thank you for your lovely comments about our beach house. OK just found out that home whose dream all white kitchen I posted page before this one finally sold after like 5 years on the market. The original ask was 3.2 million and I think it sold in the low 2 millions. Sandy really brought the price down as this home is on the river and definitely got flooded during Sandy.

Here's another dream kitchen I love. I love shaker style cabinets and a glass tile backsplash (maybe a blue or blue and white or all white backsplash have not yet decided) with marble or Silestone counters.

One more.

Keep the blue! I love your blue cabinets! Fun and funky!

Your weekend plans sound like a lot of fun. Friends, family and celebrations! :appl:

Adding a photo of Bobby that I just took now. He says puurrrrr and sends his kitty hugs and kisses. Watch out though his looks are deceiving and remember he has earned his nickname of psycho kitty for a good reason.

Frankie and Tommy are on the other end of the bed as far from Bobby as you can get. Why do cats act like this?

Missy, quick comment:
1. You can redecorate my kitchen any time! I love the pictures you linked to! Especially the first one is right up my alley :-)
2. Cats. I have no idea. Dogs would normally behave differently, and curl up and lick the "sick" family member. Perhaps they are scared? Aren't cats supposed to be really sensitive? Maybe they can smell that he is sick and don't want to catch it..
3. They are all so beautiful animals

Thank you Scandinavian. It would be an honor. The first one I linked to in the above post is my fave too. Love that huge farm sink. Perfection.

Bad news...received Bobby's blood results and he has elevated liver enzymes and that could be very bad. We are bringing him in tomorrow to get a sonogram. We will be there all afternoon as my sister said the vet specialist who does sonograms (only 2 days a week) is always a few hours behind. That's ok. Just glad we got an appointment so soon as they were all booked and they are just squeezing us in.

Please think good thoughts for dear Bobby. He's only 7 or so. Same age as my sweetest Butch who died from an aggressive cancer in 2001 just a few months after diagnosis. I am sorry my mind goes to the darkest place but I feel weary and sad having traveled this road too many times. Hoping for a good outcome and that Bobby is healthy.

Hugs to all of you.

Oh Missy, I'm so sorry! But I know Bobby will be in the best hands and that you are taking really good care of him! So the chances are that he will be just fine even if there is a problem! Thinking good and positive and loving thoughts his way!

Hi girls!

Missy, I'm really sorry about Bobby, it is so scary when a furbaby is ill…and am so sorry about the test results - I'm really glad you were able to get an appointment and I'm sending tons of positive vibes that it's nothing serious - I know you are worried and I will be keeping you and Bobby in my thoughts tomorrow. Am hoping and praying for good news, please hang in there, your nirdis are here for you for support and comfort.

Love your kitchen in Brooklyn, I agree that it still looks very up to date, you made great choices. I think your beach house kitchen is attractive but of course I totally get it isn't your taste at all…so much time is spent in the kitchen that I think it's really important for that room to be pleasing to you. Your dream kitchens are gorgeous!

I've spoken to several home health care agencies and was very impressed with one in particular so am leaning towards that one…it's daunting to choose one, but I can always switch if it doesnt work out…also considering a geriatric social worker as Kristie suggested, not completely sure it's needed in my particular situation but I'm going to give it some more thought.

Scandinavian, your necklace is stunning! Diamonds are pearls are a winning combination.

I think your idea for the windows will work well. I like the idea of blue cabinets, a touch of color can look lovely. And I really love that last chandelier you posted - very elegant but also has a modern touch that I really like. So hard to make decisions but you have great taste and any choices you make will look beautiful.

Have a wonderful time at dinner tonight, sounds like you will have a great evening. So nice that you and your friend's dh have become friends as well.

I am doing ok, thanks for thinking of me…just feel like there's a lot on my plate right now but I'm just trying to plug along as best I can. Things are challenging right now…caring for an elderly parent, trying to be supportive of my 20-something kids, and dealing with my own issues and fears of aging, changing, etc.

Jimmianne, sorry to hear you're feeling conflicted about your trip but it sounds like you're feeling a bit better about it - I think once you're there you'll have a good time, there is always some stress involved with taking a big trip like this. I agree with rainwood and missy that you don't really have to make a decision about living in France permanently right now - you have other options so I would just focus on this trip and see how it goes.

I love both your design ideas for you asscher, this is so exciting…I think I'm leaning towards the right picture, that orientation is very flattering on your hand. I like the idea of doing engraving on the metal sections.

Marcy, continuing to think of you and hoping work is going ok - I'm sure you're glad the weekend is here and I hope you can relax and unwind for a couple of days.

Callie, you and your brother are in my thoughts.

Kristie, I hope the renovations are going ok…this to shall pass and the results will be beautiful.

Take care everyone, will check in soon!

Missy, I'm sorry to hear about Bobby's elevate liver enzymes. Nina had those for several years, and we were able to manage them with a supplement called Denamarin that the vet recommended, but they started to skyrocket shortly before the end so we knew something was really off. Fingers crossed for Bobby. And, man, is he giving you THE LOOK in that photo! He must have still been miffed from the pills. They can hang on to those suckers for so long rather than swallow them.

I love your ideas for the beach kitchen, and I agree that small island is a puzzler. As soon as I saw it, I wondered why they didn't turn it the other direction and make it longer. And I like solid or mostly solid color countertops in the kitchen because you can see if they're dirty. I'm not a neat freak, but I hate the sound of setting something down on the counter and hearing a crunch because there are crumbs on the counter. Drives me nuts! When we were picking out countertops for the beach kitchen, I fell deeply in love with this light gray marble called Pietra Grigio that had veins of white running through it. It was exactly the look I wanted. But it was crazy expensive and, even worse, it was even softer than most marble, and would have been a nightmare to try to keep looking good. I don't mind a little patina, but this one would have scratched and etched and chipped like crazy. I like the black/gray granite, but I still lust after that gray marble

Jimmianne, I think you should use your destination in France as a jumping off point for lots of short trips. Make it a true adventure. There are so many places you could go. And if you have the gumption to drive a tractor and run a farm on your own, you have the gumption to make France your oyster! Or escargot, if you prefer. And I love where you're headed with your asscher. I think I like the one on the right better too even though I'm not usually a diamond-shaped lover (the shape, not diamonds themselves because I do love sparklies). And I envy your beautiful long fingers. I'm tall, but have small hands and short, stubby fingers. I keep saying I have somebody else's hands and I'd like to give them back.

Junebug, you are definitely the filling in the caregiving sandwich as you have two generations to look out for. And there's something about taking care of aging parents that forces us to stare mortality straight in the face. I now have a lot more definite ideas on what I do and don't want to happen to me based on what my husband and mother went through. And finding the right caregivers is a bit of a crapshoot, including luck. When my mother's husband was in the hospital and rehab after back surgery, I had to find caregivers to look after her at her house 24/7. Because we were doing it on a last-minute emergency basis (lack of adequate planning by everybody but me who wasn't informed of the plan at all!), the agency had to rotate people every couple of days so I had a chance to meet a number of them. They were all kind-hearted and good people, each with strengths and weaknesses. And they were company for my mom because one of the problems of aging in place is that it's so isolating. I'm sure you'll find some good caregivers for your mom as you have a little time to sort it all out.

Am I correct that Callie's brother is going through a transplant? That's my memory of it, but it's a really fuzzy one.

Marcy, I hope work isn't driving you crazy or, if it is, the weekend will restore your sanity. Can you send the killer bunnies after the folks who make your job more difficult than it needs to be? Those bunnies look like they could handle just about any situation.

Scandinavia, I will try to get pictures of other spaces, but have to warn you that the sofa in my living room at the weekend house is . . . . . . Ikea. And it's gray! I also have some of their small dressers in two of the bedrooms. I like modern and traditional mixed together for that eclectic look, but I find as I get older I drift closer to minimalistic. Not so much modern as just less furniture and accents in a room. It feels more serene.

Kristie, I'm offering dust that your remodel is rapidly reaching completion. Going without a kitchen has to be so tough. Mine desperately needs to get done in the city house, and I just don't want to think about how much work that will be. Just cleaning out and storing everything makes me want to put it off forever.

Sharon, DS, and everyone else, hi!. It's a lovely spring day here, and I'm headed out to enjoy it for a little while.

Hi NIRDIs!

Rainwood, small world that you recently picked up those books about living in France. Marty loves Hong Kong - he’d move there in an instant. It is interesting to see how different people live around the world. I chuckled at your comment about hearing things crunch on the counter. I always wipe down our countertops after I do dishes and then you’ll see something from the side later and I’m like how on earth did I miss that? It just blends in and you can’t see it. Good idea to take some of the Killer Bunnies to work and straighten some people out.

Missy, oh no I hate to hear about Bobby. I hope they figure out what’s wrong and can get him all better. Hugs to you and him. Yes we do have a lot in common. The colors in your beach house are great. That’s some fish Greg is holding too! At our old house we had all white walls and Marty painted the wall behind the TV a dark green. I HATED it. I threatened to kill him if he did that in our new house. I like both of your kitchens but I like the one in Brooklyn better. Our old house had very little countertop space. This house has a big island and 2 decent sized countertop spots. I was absolutely giddy baking cookies when we moved in here. I always love the beach shots from your security camera. That dream kitchen is awesome!!!

Callie, sending mega PS Dust and good thoughts to you and your brother.

Jimmianne, I hate when I lose a post on PS. The expat women you met at Christmas would be fun to catch up with again. Good plan you and Charlie Brown have - I could run away there and no one would know where to look for me. Marty is gone most of the rest of this month even he wouldn’t have a clue. Marcy just disappeared. Ha Ha good idea to keep a chart. I can’t decide which way I like the CAD - they are both pretty. Yay for getting your tractor.

Scandinavian, how fun to be working with contractors and picking out things for your house. How was dinner with your friends? That restaurant sounds fabulous. As for Curby - my car has wheels that sticks out a little past the tire (I’m on the 3rd one of that model) and I keep hitting curbs which then scraps up my rims. A new rim is ridiculously expensive and since they are aluminum you can’t fix them very well. My current car is a 2014 and we hadn’t even had it 24 hours and I hit a curb with it put a knick in my tire and left a big old black mark on a curb down the street from us. My husband started calling me Curby that day. So now I am Curby 1 and my car is Curby 2. I wish we could get 5 letters on customized plates here because I’d get “CURBY” on my license plate. I’ll get you that list of people to kick for me.

Junebug, I am glad you’ve found a home healthcare agency you like. You do have a lot on your plate. I hope things settle down for you once you get your mom living with you and have some assistance coming in to help out. Take care of you too.

We had a really nice time at dinner last night with our friends. I actually like both of them. Most of Marty’s friends have wives or girl friends that are just nasty old you know what.

Not much planned for the weekend. I have to dial in and do some work in the morning. Sally Hanson has buy 2 get 1 free polish sale so I am going to hit that this weekend. I have a $5 off if you spend $25 - I'm going to be rolling in the dough after saving all the money.

I ended up working late again at the last minute today. Stupid “expected” rainouts of some MLB games had updates rolling in 15 minutes before we were leaving. Then coming home everyone one in front of me were having go slow races.

2 of my employees came out and each took one of my work teddies. They wanted to use them to erase things on the white board. So I gave them each 10 demerits on the white board. I went back in the room later and they had added by their demerits first person to reach 100 demerits gets a bear. I changed it to say “buys” a bear.

Marty has tee times both days this weekend. He found out who got that job he applied for today. It's someone that already lives in Atlanta. He doesn't know if he'll be good at the job or not. Time will tell.

Laters,
Curby / Marcy

Good morning girls! It might be a snowy weekend for some of us as now our prediction has a bit more snow in it. April snow showers on their way.

Scandinavian, thank you sweetheart. I appreciate your heartfelt good wishes for sweet Bobby. I hope you had fun last night with your friends and that you enjoy the rest of the weekend with your loved ones. Happy celebrations are a perfect weekend activity. Especially if it is as cold there this weekend as it is here and I am guessing it might be colder. Brrrrr. Have fun this weekend.

Junie, I am so glad you have found a home healthcare agency that you might be hiring to help you take care of your mom. And as you said if you decide they aren't a good fit you can always change agencies so it doesn't have to be permanent. I have a feeling people who work with the elderly are more empathetic than the average person so hoping that is the case and whoever comes to help will be kind and caring.

You do have so much on your plate and are taking care of everyone amazingly well. My mantra One day at a time is sometimes the only way to get through each day. And re the aging Junie if I may share some personal wisdom I have gained on that front. Cherish your good health each day and feeling well. Don't let the changes in your appearance, aging changes, slowing down a bit get you down honey. I know it is easier said than done but honestly there is beauty in getting older and a confidence and accepting yourself and knowing how much you have and are accomplishing and all the love you give to so many. I know it sounds a bit hokey but I mean it from my heart. You are beautiful in all the ways that count. Not to mention you *are* beautiful on the outside too but that pales in comparison to the real beauty you are from within.

Your kids and mom and dh are lucky people to have you. Sending lots of (((Hugs))) your way.

Thank you for your good thoughts and wishes for Bobby. Poor sweetie. The other cats (not Fred though for whatever reason) are still hissing at him a full 2 days after his hospital visit. I can only imagine how the other cats will behave after today's visit.

Rainwood, that is exactly how I feel re the counters. I hate patterns especially ones that hide dirt and that is why I have loathed the beach counters from the beginning. I too am not a neat freak (haha far from it just ask Greg who is much more the neat freak than I can ever be) but cannot stand being unable to see if they are completely clean or not and wipe them down more often than necessary just to make sure there is no yukky stuff on them. It's a pain and I am looking forward to my new clean white counters to be. We are only considering a quartz material probably because you can place hot items on top without any issues and they do not stain the way marble does. Though I love the look of marble I also love white Silestone. I am itching to get this project going lol but it will just have to wait. Honestly if we were not going to move there full time eventually I could live with the kitchen as is because I don't love the thought of how much we are going to end up spending to make it beautiful. Money well spent however if we will be there full time.

Well you were quite right that Bobby was pissed at me yesterday for administering that awful tasting Flagy to him and he got back at me last night as I got a puncture wound giving him the Flagyl last night. He did not do it on purpose but my fingers got in the way of his very sharp and very large front teeth (I think those are the incisors?). Yup just another potential issue now. Cannot make this stuff up. I don't heal well and of course I am still convened about getting any type of infection anywhere in my body as the surgeon warned me I have much more potential to get those plates and screws in my leg infected with any infection. Hopefully it will heal without incident. Pilling cats is challenging under the best of circumstances but Bobby is not one to endure the pilling quietly or gently even with both of us doing our best.

I am glad you are enjoying lovely spring weather and I hope the weekend is more of the same of that lovely weather for you.

Marcy, Greg's brother and sister lived in Hong Kong for many years and I know they were glad to get back to the states. I guess it can be fun to live far away from everyone for a while but I cannot imagine being away from all my loved ones for good. This is the same brother who lived on a houseboat in California (while he was single) for a few years. I love this brother actually as he is the only one who was warm and welcoming to me when I started dating Greg. He and his wife adopted two girls from China (at separate times) and one of them is now a teenager already and almost ready for college. The girls are already young adults. Beautiful and lovely in every way. I cannot believe how time flies.

I'm with you. I need a lot of counter space in the kitchen. And you are right in that when you have enough counter space baking is much easier. Which we don't have at the beach house and that is why we bake in Brooklyn if we have a choice. I'm glad you like the kitchen in Brooklyn and it did hold up well for more than a decade already. And I have no urge to redo anything in that kitchen. It still works well for us.

I'm glad you enjoyed dinner last night with your friends. Oh no to most of Marty's friends wives being bitchy little bears or should I say bitchy little bunnies. I do not like women who behave that way and hope you don't have to spend any time with them. Hope your work call/dial in goes well this morning and yay for sales. What colors do you think you will be buying? Hope Marty has fun with golf and it makes sense about the person who got the job living there. Have a good weekend.

Sharing 2 pics of Bobby as a baby.

Have fun today girls. :wavey:

Missy, My DD's cat has elevated levels and is on a special food. He is 15 or 16 and doing very well. Hope this helps. I worry more about you and Greg surviving this week of pills! [just kidding, and not to make light of Bobby's condition. I wonder if it is possible that his recent health incident created temporary high levels?] Health Dust to you, Bobby.

Marcy, I swear, those bears are such a wonderful part of your life. I love that you changed it to "buy". Maybe after a while you will be in the bear business. Using your DBs for the white board? Good lordy, that's a criminal offense. I think at least one of your bears deserves a new outfit.
officer_curly.jpg

I want to remodel MY kitchen and put in countertops with patterns of little ants all over them. I must have the mother of all ant hills under my house

I like both orientations of the asscher halo, and see the kite orientation as more graceful and flattering, but the chunky squared-off look may be more what I was looking at in terms of a sort of "blunt" look. Not sure how to verbalize what I mean. Maybe more masculine, while the kite is feminine.
Also the "asscher" has a culet and if I do the kite orientation the culet will be pointing NW-SE, not N-S. I don't know if that will make me feel itchy to straighten it out : P
Ah...the big decisions in life!

The tractor came. Intimidating. I sort of repaired 2 holes in the driveway ...sort of. LOL
In a half hour I went from anxiety over driving it at one mph with that big bucket on the front to moving gravel around.
I think I will grow to love it but right now it feels as though I am trying to thread a needle with my hands in oven mitts while standing on the edge of a cliff.

It's Saturday  :appl:

Hello from the woods :-)

Leash season - no one said who should hold the leash...

20160409_131431.jpeg

Hahaha Scandinavian, love that. You are quite right. No one says who has to hold the leash.
Your sweet dog is capable of holding her own leash thank you very much! :halo:

Jimmianne, thanks for the advice. Bobby is only 7 and I will see what my sister says today after the sonogram. And yes if he has a GI issue I think that could raise the liver enzyme level but my sister was concerned at how high they were and she was not expecting those results at all hence her concern and ordering the sonogram immediately. As for diet our cats are so picky re food if we try changing them I have a feeling they will refuse to eat. We have tried before but we will do what we have to do. Cats are incredibly stubborn as you well know.

Love the teddy bear pic. Very smart. Glad you are enjoying your tractor. I am looking forward to seeing a photo of you driving that baby.
Enjoy driving your new baby and you go girl. :appl:

FYI In case anyone has not heard of this, my derm highly recommended "Elta MD UV CLear BRoad spectrum SPF 46 Sunscreen".
It is for people with acne or rosacea and is a zinc oxide cream. Unlike zinc oxide creams that are heavy and "whitening" it is like a fine face cream and nearly invisible. I started using the sample pack yesterday and really like it, and ordered some from Amazon.

Thanks Jimmianne. I'm glad it is working for you. Before anyone tries this or any new product please do a patch test.

Personally, my derm doesn't want me to wear any sunblock if just out casually due to my POD as it can exacerbate it. However when I am out for longer periods of time i.e. cycling I like my COTZ face sensitive sunscreen product which is zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. I cannot tolerate any chemical sunscreen whatsoever. Unfortunately the Elta has chemicals in it that cause big hivey and rashy reactions on my skin. Specifically the Octinoxate. Please do a patch test girls before you apply to your face OK?

HI:

Missy, sending healing kitty vibes your way! :wavey:

kind regards, Sharon

Hi girls!

Missy, I will be back later but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of Bobby today and I'm sending good thoughts to all of you!

Good wishes for Bobby!

Hi NIRDI’s!

Missy, I hope you April Showers don’t require snow plowers. We are in the 60’s here today but had a little bit of rain. Oh no Bobby bit you trying to give him his medicine. Pick up some of this http://www.amazon.com/Band-Aid-Hurt...5048&sr=8-1&keywords=band+aid+antiseptic+wash - the biology teacher at the community college I taught it swore by this. She said in labs this was the only thing they wouldn’t grow bacteria so she always recommends it to keep infections at bay. It doesn’t bother me allergy wise either. That is great you get along really well with your BIL. I remember you mentioning before they lived in HK and adopted two girls from China. Yes time does fly. At my old house I used to put a big cutting board on top of the double sinks to get more room to work on something but then I was blocked from the sink. I will probably pick up assorted shades of pink or mauves for new polish. Young Bobby is quite handsome.

Jimmianne, I love the bear and his outfit. Very cute. I made Marty go in to a Build a Bear shop with me and he had more fun than I did. I swear one of these days I am going to coming home and find my bears dressed up as the Village People. OMG on the ants. Do they get in your house? We had big ant hills in our yard at our last house. My dad got some ant pesticide from a farm store that we sprinkled everywhere to try and keep them a bay. It helped. You’ll soon be a wizard with your tractor. I’ll be anxious to hear your stories.

Scandinavian, hello to you in the woods.

Hi Sharon and Junebug.

I woke up about 7 but didn’t really get up until 8. Stupid neighborhood constructions noises started before 7. Grr. Must check our HOA agreement to see if I have a legitimate right to gripe about it. I’m not looking forward to not sleeping in on my days off.

I almost have laundry done. I made peach muffins and caught up on some Soap episodes on the DVR.

Marty left about 8 for golf. I met him for lunch at the club about 1.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Marcy / Curby

Peach muffins?! Now I wish more than ever that we were neighbors : )

I'm getting better at the tractor - mowed the lower field then worked on the driveway some more. New Toy energy!!! Yes!
It's really cold here and I am headed for my second hot bath of the day.

How odd that it's warmer Out West. Things are so upside down. Despite the recent frosts here the roses in bloom and figs are on the fig tree. Way too early for that sort of thing.

Missy, thanks for the heads up on the sunscreen. So far it's OK, but good to know it's not totally benign.
Watching your weather.

Have a good evening, everyone in this hemisphere, and good sleeping across the sea : )

Just showed Greg your choices Jimmianne and he prefers the right side photo. I like them both but think the one on the right has a slight edge for me too.

this one DOES have better finger coverage. Wouldn't it be fun if Tony could make a removable head that snaps into both positions?

Jimmianne, I am glad you are enjoying your new toy. That is odd it's cold there and warm here. Trust me we will have more cold weather and more snow. Good idea to warm up taking baths. When it's really cold I'll throw my pajamas in the dryer while I get ready for bed. They cool off fast but it's very nice for a while. Yes it would be nice to be neighbors. Come on over and have a peach muffin. I froze them all individually wrapped so they will be good and fresh when I pull one out for you.

We had cottage cheese, strawberries and halos for supper followed by popcorn. I think this popcorn is old I am picking up a new jar.

One of my teddies is being held hostage by a Killer rabbit. If I talk the bear gets it. It's rough being silent. Those bunnies are going to have it rough around here come Tuesday. The big tall guy won't be around to protect them.

Ms.Curby, you can talk to us and we won't tell the big rabbit.
PJs out of the dryer sounds wonderful. I think each of us should have someone to do this for us!
I'm sorry to hear you will have more cold weather but Spring is just around the corner.

Missy, how is Bobby this morning? Is he feeling more active? Such sweet kitten photos.
My Sam got in a fight and came home with punctures and a shut eye. A week after the fight, he is looking normal again.
Just remember - there is a reason they say cats have 9 lives! Nose kisses to Bobby.
ugh - we are having the same weather. I hope Greg is warming up your clothes for you in the dryer : )

June, fingers crossed that you have found a good home care person. I'm so glad you are getting help and hope your Mom likes and accepts the person you decide on. I know how hard all of this is.

Good morning girls!

Thank you all for your good wishes for Bobby!
Sharon, Scandinavian, Junie, Marcy, Jimmianne, Rainwood, Orsi, Callie and Kristie thank you!

Marcy, temperature in the 60s by you sounds wonderful. And fortunately we had only April showers yesterday so no need for those snow plows. It is still chilly by us and the high yesterday was 40 I think. Today just a drop warmer. Not ideal for the adoptalooza happening outdoors here today (see explanation below) but at least it is not going to rain.

Bobby says thank you for the compliment on how handsome he is. He is a good looking boy! Tell those killer bunnies to behave or when Bobby is all better he will whip them into shape.

I love the huge farmhouse sinks and am not a fan of the double sinks as they just don't work for me. The bigger and deeper the sink the better with no division. I like your creativity in making your surfaces bigger by putting the cutting board over the sink lol. Genius idea.

Grrr on construction work starting outside on a weekend before 7 AM. That's just crazy.
Thank you for the antiseptic wash recommendation.
Did you get some pretty pink and mauve nail polish during the sale?
Ha you are lucky you can use pesticides as they don't bother your bunnies and bears.
Ooh peach muffins. Marcy those sound delicious and I never ever had a peach muffin. I want! :lickout:

Jimmianne, I hate ants and we had an ant problem a few years ago at the beach house. They are scary in large numbers. :errrr:
Glad you are having fun on your tractor!
Glad the Elta is working well for you so far. I also hear that Anthelios spf 50 mineral ultra light sunscreen fluid is good but have never tried it. I just ordered my COTZ face (for my face obviously lol) and Cotz sensitive sunscreen for my body since I don't know when the Cotz I have at the beach house expires. I hate doing that but I cannot risk it and sunscreen expires within a year or so. I always waste so much because I never want to run out but it is wasteful because I think I have many tubes of it at the beach house but I haven't been there since December and I ordered most of it last summer so my guess is its usefulness is expiring soon. What a waste. Sigh.

FYI Bobby's visit to the animal hospital yesterday for the sonogram:
Yesterday's sonogram went as well as it could because they didn't see any tumor or any obstruction so that was good. However my sister is concerned because apparently his liver enzymes were way higher than she led me to believe. Like super high. Which means either an acute trauma, toxin, etc. It was the liver transaminases that were so high which means they are for some reason leaking out of his liver. She gave him a steroid injection and a heavy duty lasts for 2 weeks antibiotic injection. However she only did that in case we continue having trouble giving him the Flagyl because the antibiotic injection does not provide great liver coverage so she wants us to continue as best we can with giving him Flagyl. To that end she gave us a liquid Flagyl to try instead of the Flagyl pills.

Poor Bobby. He is being put through the proverbial wringer. He is not too happy with us and peed all over himself in the carrier on the way home but after speaking with Debbie when we got home she said they did note when viewing the sonogram that his bladder was very full so it makes sense. My poor sweetheart Bobby. We are to continue with the Flagyl for 2 weeks and he is seeing my sister again for a follow up blood work and health check the 21st of this month. She said since it was the acute liver enzymes that are elevated if the insult is gone they will go down as fast as they went up within the 2 weeks. However since we don't know what caused the transaminases to leak out of the liver there remains an unknown we are concerned about and nothing is for sure.

So I am worried about him because we don't know what caused this injury to his liver and also worried about our other kitties because g-d forbid there is something in our environment causing this to happen. We have no plants they are eating and all our meds/supplements are securely away from the kitties and we have no known toxins around the home. It's a mystery and I just want Bobby to heal and I also don't want the others to become ill from whatever made/is making Bobby ill.

Thanks for listening and caring girls.

Today is the adoptalooza event in Union Square Park and as long as Bobby seems stable we are going. Just what we need lol. To visit over 300 animals (dogs, cats and rabbits!) needing loving homes LOL. Wonder who we might come home with today... 8) JK! We are going there to lend our support that's all. :halo:

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday and sending hugs your way.

Hi NIRDIs!

Jimmianne, thanks for not ratting me out to the Killer Rabbits. They seem to behave so much better when Marty is gone. Weird. Yes PJ’s out of the dryer are awesome on cold, snowy nights. I tend to believe spring shows up in Wyoming on June 5th and I wouldn’t bet money on it. Oh no to pour Sam getting in a fight - hopefully the other guy looks a lot worse! I am glad he is doing better. Stay warm with your chilly weather.

Missy, I am glad it is warming up there today. I hope the adoptalooza goes well and I know you’ll want to bring them all home. I am sure Bobby and any of your cute kitties could take care of those ill mannered rabbits. I think I’d prefer one large sink too but never gave it much thought. Some pans are such a pain to clean in the smaller sinks. Yes we can spray pesticides here without worry it bothers our furbabies. Good thing because some of the spiders I’ve seen around here are large enough to shoot. I didn’t hit the nail polish sale yet and since it’s raining I probably won’t go today. It’s good through April 30 so I’ll go after work sometime this week. I love peach muffins. I used my blueberry muffin recipe and put in peaches. I am going to have one shortly. Come on by - I’ve got more. I hate to hear your sister found problems with Bobby’s liver but it sounds like she is monitoring him and giving him things to help. Poor Bobby. I am sending him lots of get better wishes and hugs.

We just had an intense yet brief rain shower and hail storm. It wasn’t warm enough to have large hail though. Marty wisely stayed home from golf today or he’d be very cold and wet right now.

I am cutting in to my sapphire upgrade money today. I am so excited though I just ordered a Coach Snoopy wallet. Yep, setting here on my little love seat with the teddy bears I just spent about $500. I ordered 12 soup bowls for our china - the ones that are in my pattern only hold 10 oz - I haven’t liked them from day one. So I bought another pattern that holds 24 oz. Mikasa sent me a 20% off my order coupon, how could I not buy them? I’ll put the other 12 bowls up to use at Christmas. Then I was shopping for some cord clips on Amazon and I’ve been looking at Snoopy Coach bags but I just don’t like any of the styles they have. The wristlets are too small to hold a dollar bill straight so I went for the wallet. It’s off white and has Snoopy and Woodstock on it. They Peanuts Coach collection came out maybe last year sometime and they were sold out before I even checked online. Now they are showing up on Ebay and Amazon but I trust Amazon more.

I made fried potatoes, toast, eggs and sausage for breakfast. Marty is watching the Masters online right now then can turn it on TV once coverage starts on the networks. One of his golf buddies is coming over to watch it with him so maybe we’ll order in pizza.

Last night we rented The Hateful Eight. It was a typical Tarantino movie - lots of violence and dead people. I got paged with a problem from work about 9 pm so had to take care of that during the movie. I didn’t mind the distraction.

Have a great day.

Marcy
