Now I really did it :((

GM girls!

@junebug17 Safe travels and have a wonderful and fun trip and hope your weather cooperates. And enjoy that pool because that is exactly what we need now. A nice cool pool to relax and stay chill in and enjoy the July 4th week. Have fun Junie and (((hugs))).

@Tekate I am thrilled to pieces for you and super relieved! Finally you are out of that awful pain and on the road to recovery. (((Hugs))) and more healing vibes and good thoughts being sent your way. Hope you have a lovely weekend planned that is pain free and fun filled. Rx from this girl is for fun plus more fun super strength refills infinite.

@Austina yay so pleased you enjoyed a lovely birthday and hope you have a wonderful weekend as the birthday celebration continues into the weekend of course. Glad your weather has cooled down and it is apparently our time to be "scorchio" now :sun: because above 90 F degree temps are what are here for at least the next 6-10 days. Yup you heard that right. I'm sweating just thinking about it :o. I will be thinking cool thoughts all the way through as we know the mind is a powerful tool. That and central AC will help. (please keep on working central ac nectar of my life in the warm weather!).

@marcy sweet you got to meet a friend for lunch to break up your workday and sounds like a decent and lovely Thursday for you. And super yay for Mr Marty arriving home sometime last night and hope you enjoy a wonderful long weekend together. You are such a good wife. If I had gotten a text on my way back from groceries I cannot say with certainty I'd be going back out to pick up another item. Unless it was a lovely day and I was feeling good. So maybe. But maybe not.:P2 Hope you all are not disturbed by work these next few days and can just enjoy being together and away from work. Our weather has no rain in sight for the next week plus but the temps are in the 90s heat indices in the 100s. Yup not cycling friendly weather though this morning we are trying to get out before 630 AM and take at least a short bike ride. But no more 40-60 mile rides for us for the foreseeable future. That's OK. More time for indoor shopping  @LLJsmom HELP!

@PierreBear our biggest challenge is that sun canopy Greg so kindly made for me on the bike. It produces drag that slows us down soooooo much. We are averaging a full 2-3 mph slower with the sun canopy than without. Even when the wind is not fully against us because unless it is head on it produces drag so if there is a component to the east or west and we are going North or South we get slowed down. The past few days have been super windy and it has been an effort to get the speed up to 7.5 mph. You can do the math and calculate how long an average 50 mile ride takes us. Yup. All freaking day.

But no complaints as we are enjoying the ride despite working very hard to make it. It is a great workout for the core as well as the legs. I highly recommend recumbent cycling. It's a workout that is comfortable too (so important to this older body now let me tell you and Greg is turning 60 this year!) compared to the upright cycling we do on our racing tandem. So we are not sacrificing fitness for comfort. On the contrary because we are in a more comfortable position we get to work out harder if that makes sense. Albeit much slower because of the sun canopy. But I need that on sunny days so it is the sacrifice we have to make. We can get our Terratrike up to 35 miles per hour going down some of the hills on our cycling route. That is thrilling. 8-)

And LOL I hear you when you cannot even get the bike going downhill due to strong head winds. Yes only a cyclist can get what that means. I feel your pain but oh what a great workout right PB? What do you have on your agenda this weekend? Hoping it is fun with dh no matter what you guys do.

Hi @sunseeker101 and thank you for chiming in and you are a sweetheart to do so just to help me. Thank you and you are always welcome to join us in our NIRDI chats. Please know you are warmly invited to hang out with us.

Sorry to gatecrash this thread, ladies. I caught sight of a reference to Missy's heavy metal issue.

Missy, on the off-chance that you don't already know, nutritional supplements like chlorella and spirulina can help to sequester and effectively remove heavy metals from the body:

https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/01/28/chlorella-for-mercury-poisoning.aspx

As well, I see a lot of the symptoms you're having, and it looks to be a general 'wiring' issue, doesn't it? A general 'dis-ease' within the whole system. Have you looked into anti-inflammatory diets, the condition of your HPA axis/adrenal response, your insulin levels as opposed to your blood-sugar levels and things like that? (Blood sugar can look great but be held in position by many times the normal level of insulin, adrenal problems can cause wiring failures galore, which can mimic thyroid symptoms).

As well, freshwater fish is lower in heavy metals and higher in the right omegas compared to farmed fish. Until recently I thought it was the other way around!

Anyway, just thought it worth a shot to mention. I hope you can solve your health issues definitively and have peace, and I believe it can be done. The best of luck.

Thanks for all this info sunseeker. I do eat only wild fish and now only wild salmon and wild sardines. My internist is not pleased with the speed with which my mercury is going down but I am taking it one month at a time as the heavy metal specialist I saw said give it time. If it doesnt go down I guess chelating might be on the list to try next. For some reason (maybe because it is hard on the body?) Dr Globina at Mt Sinai (heavy metal specialist) does not want me to start chelating. So not sure what to do but follow her advice unless I can find another specialist who will help me safely chelate. It is not as easy as you might think finding such highly specialized doctors. I had to get my friend involved to get me an appointment with her. I am taking ALA (not directed by her) because I read that is OK to take with fish to help with the mercury and I do supplement with Selenium (200 mcg) every day. Hoping that is somewhat helpful re the mercury. I am sort of lost but doing the best I can and definitely appreciate any helpful guidance you can share. Thank you!

I am on the Anti Inflammatory Paleo diet (AIP). No gluten, no soy, no nuts, no dairy, no corn, no nightshades, no added sugar, etc. And have been for the past few months and it is super challenging. I lost weight but think I have finally gained it back. I am still under 110 lbs at 5'6" and that might be too light for my frame but doing the best I can. It isn't easy getting enough good calories on this AIP diet and I think my body needs nuts etc as I am light on protein and a few other things. It's a huge puzzle I am trying to work out with the help of doctors but so far I am not impressed with any of my physicians sadly.

My endocrinologist doesnt seem to get the connection b/w my low ferritin and my inability to get my T3 up despite all the meds. In fact I think I am pooling T3 again. Heart going a bit too fast this AM. I am taking lots of supplements (including all the methylated Bs since my body won't methylate by itself due to the mutations) in the hope to help because I also have the homozygous MTHFR C667T mutation as well as heterozygous for the VDR Taq (Tt) and MTRR A66G mutation. All gobbley gook to me a few months ago but now I am a believer given my challenge with getting rid of heavy metals and my B12 and ferritin deficiencies and now my Hcy increase. My internist seems to think my Hcy of 15.3 isn't bad. OMG. And All this due to the MTHFR and MTRR combined with environmental issues. That my internist and other doctors really don't understand as they didn't learn about this in medical school decades ago. So yeah these are true issues that mainstream medicine has not (yet) fully embraced. I have no doubt in my mind in another decade or 2 wait and see. Mainstream medicine will be getting it (hopefully) by then. It's very slow how the cogs of medicine work at times.

So in short (hahaha too late right:cheeky:) I am looking for an integrative MD/functional MD/naturopath MD who can help me sort through this mess (and probably you're correct that my adrenals plus many other systems are involved) and figure it out because I just don't think I can do this on my own. My brain fog is real and my powers of deduction and comprehension :read: compromised for various reasons all involved with my multitude of health challenges.

Thanks again and if there is any more insight you can provide please do. Hope you are having a good summer and staying cool.:appl:

OK girls we are off cycling. Wish us luck as I don't want us to melt too badly. Enjoy this last Friday in June and (((hugs))).:wavey:

Happy Anniversary @marcy and Marty!!! 27 years woohoo!!!:appl::kiss2::appl:

Austina, the patio looks teriffic! Pressure washing is so satisfying, but that is a huge area to clean. I know you will enjoy it this summer when you are at home. Have a great trip!

Marcy, happy 27th. That Marty is a lucky guy. From now on I will think of the 27th as the killer rabbit anniversary.
I wonder what your guy is getting you?? How are you celebrating?

Missy, Puff would love your tirara!! You know how he likes to carry diamonds around in his beak and there are plenty there to play with. A Lovely poem from you...You are our poet laureate.

My kitty patient is doing well. Eating and drinking tons with the help of an antidepressant. They had him on 2mg every third day, so he would have one good day then two bad days. As an experiment I gave him 0.25mg on the second day and he ate just as eagerly as he did with the larger dose.
I think the vets are as bad as doctors...they just throw drugs at patients without thinking.
Which is why we and our pets all need an advocate during illness.
So, I have a happy cat who went from an almost comatose skeleton to an eating, playing and purring feline. He is eating only that disgusting raw organic meat and sweet potatos with a little apple-kale baby food.
Since this is considered one of the cancer diets, I am visualizing that the diet will starve the tumor. Worse case, his xray next month shows that the tumor is growing again, and my dd puts him back on chemo. He is ANCIENT and deserves to be happy in this last stage of life, not constanty sick from chemo, dammit.
Thanks for letting me ramble. I know you are all kitty lovers, so I hope you don’t mind.

Ps. Marcy, maybe we should have a NIRDI preloved sale some time!

Pps. Missy you are such a good advocate for yourself. I’m impressed with the depth of thought that is going in to figuring out the issue. Being a professional helps, doesn’t it...getting the chemistry connections, etc. Keep up the good work <3

Hurray it is Friday. We need to finish watching a movie we started called Lady Bird. Gosh, I just love the library and I’ve been trying to read as many books as the movies I rent there. Going to celebrate a friend’s birthday tonight. I need to stock up the kitchen with some things that have been missing. I will probably make some fresh bread this weekend. Maybe ice cream but I think I need to be good and recover from vacation. Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

@Austina – Sounds like you picked a great contractor to sift through the pallets. Glad they allowed him to do it. When we went through our kitchen tiling project I almost wanted to open each box and see what type of patterns would be on it. Of course, you really have to buy the whole box etc. Well, it was really beautiful and don’t worry about grass as it’s the summer time. It will grow back and be lush but trust me when I say our backyard is really just a bunch of weeds that look semi green. Hahaha… how does Adam do it in this heat?

Hope you had a wonderful lunch and picked up some goodies when you went shopping!

@marcy – I do hope to be in your wonderful state again one day. It would be fun to do a meet up over there. However, it would mean that I don’t have any of my goods on me when we go explore the outdoors. All I wear when I travel is my eternity wedding band. It actually felt nice to not “baby” my hands not that I intentionally do when I wear my rings but always am a bit more cautious as I feel the weight. So maybe that means you should come to Texas and we can try on each other’s pieces. : )

HA… good weather joke. Make it rain more over here! Nice wife of you to pick up oatmeal for him. I think he still owed you from filming those weight training videos so it sounds like you should get a big massage tonight. : ) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

@sunseeker101 – hello! I hope you don’t have all that knowledge for Missy due to your own personal health?

@missy – Ooohhh the sun canopy aka parachute. Well having sun protection is worth it so you take all the time you need my friend. 35 miles down hill…. I’m such a pansy and I break a lot to keep it at a speed I’m comfortable with. Is it hilly where you ride? We have some rolling “hills” I would call them over here but nothing that takes longer than a few minutes to get to the top at the worst. I think we are going to ride this Sunday and then afterwards take out my friend to eat dim sum for the first time. Have you had it before? I think of it as an “Asian brunch.” Hahaha…

Happy early birthday to Greg. How will ya’ll celebrate?

@Jimmianne – Glad your kitty patient is healing up. Glad you are testing out the waters and not giving him more medication than needed.

Hello lovelies

It’s too hot :eek2: and it’s going to get hotter next week!

So glad you’ve found the right dosage for DD’s puss @Jimmianne, what a good sign he’s eating well. Good job you know what you’re doing!

I’ve only done about half of the paving so far, I’ll finish it next week before we get a hose pipe ban! I needed hosing off myself when I was finished, I was filthy right up to my knees

I hope you’re having a lovely day today @marcy away from the maddening crowd, and spending time with Marty and wondering where all the years have gone! I hope he liked his killer rabbit :D

Have fun with your friends @PierreBear and yum to freshly baked bread, you can’t beat it.

Yes, we really struck gold with our contractor when we moved here, he did a lot of work for us, both inside and out, and did a really good job. He was recommended to us by our plumber, and was such a find. He helped source other contractors for work he didn’t do. Made all the difference having someone reliable, as he was here for several months.

Adam said his grass isn’t great, despite having the sprinklers on a couple of times a week. He’s been digging his weeds out as the weed killer wasn’t do much.

Wow Sunseeker, lots of information for Missy to digest.

We will be ‘glowing’ frizzball twins next week @missy, it’s going to be in the 90’s here too, but no a/c :eek2:  that I don’t melt

Definitely sounds too hot to be doing vigorous exercise, I prescribe staying in and keeping cool and hydrated. Of course, if you ‘happen’ to spot a few items you have to have, c’est la vie  Blame it on LLJsmom leading you astray :cheeky:

Have a safe trip to SC @junebug17 and enjoy your lovely home and pool.

Quiet weekend for us, we’ll need to be up and out early with Dottie before it gets too hot, then I predict we’ll be desperately trying to stay cool.

:wavey:

Hi NIRDI’s!

Thank you everyone for the anniversary wishes.

Missy, thank you so much for the lovely anniversary poem and that cake looks good enough to eat. I appreciate it.

I sure didn’t want to go back to the store but I did. Staying inside with the AC sounds like a great plan with your heatwave. I guess that fire is kicking up again near here. Darn that the sun canopy slows you and Greg down but that does make sense. Wow that you can get your trike up to 35 mph going down hill. That must seem really fast but fun. I hope you didn’t melt today on your ride.

Hi Sunseeker!

Jimmianne, Marty loved his killer rabbit. I was in trouble for getting him something but he was fine with it. We don’t usually get presents or a card just go out to dinner. Since Marty has a client tonight we went out for lunch. It was nice. That’s good Puff likes diamonds. I am relieved to hear your kitty patient is doing so much better. I hope that tumor has shrunk or even better disappeared. I agree he should be comfortable not miserable. Hug the kitty for me. We could open a NIRDI Esty shop to sell our preloved sale items. Purses and bling.

Austina, I love the Marty and Marcy rabbits; that is awesome. I’ll print that out for Marty and definitely tell him I received a gold medal for being a first class wife. Thank you. Oh no that your heatwave continues. Good plan to get out early in the day with Dottie then stay cool inside. I am enjoying not being at work.

I slept in until 7. The cleaning lady came about 9. Marty and I went out for lunch and he’s back on conference calls now. He said he was less interested in that other job where he would be a technical salesman.

Marty got his first payment for training some clients from Fitness One. I can’t retire (darn) but how exciting for that? He is going to see another new client Sunday. His business may be picking up.

I am working on laundry. If I get my Saturday stuff done today maybe I can goof off tomorrow. We should go see a movie.

Take care.
Marcy

While we were out to lunch the jewelry store called to say that bracelet I ordered was in. It's pretty nice so I bought it. They have to remove 3 links and solder the charm on it but i should get it back soon. It's 14K YG and solid not hollow. It feels so smooth.

Once again you can see how yellow the lighting is in mall jewelry stores.

Missy! Thanks for the details and explanations, I can't believe how far you've had to travel and still with no end in sight. If you weren't already feeling worse for wear, you certainly would be by now. And this is what I can identify with, the feeling that modern medicine is all over the details in some cases, but lacks a holistic overview when the details can only indicate that something is wrong across the system.

That said, I've found chiropractors, functional medical heads and so on to be not many steps from total quackery in general. Though there is one thing the more awake of them look at, and that is the power of food as medicine. For this they seem to refer to the ancient food-wisdom of China and India.

Chelating involves sending ETDA into the bloodstream -- I can't imagine a body in a state of inflammation could tolerate that very well, so you're wise to stay well away.

Generally, I think that when a body makes a general complaint like this, the problem is fundamental to the system (once gene mutations and their effects are ruled out). As in, either at the level of basic cell function, or residing within a major subsystem.

Now, to throw out a theory: If you're always been thin, and tending towards either low carb/low calorie/high exercise, it could be the case that this has caused long-term over-stimulation of the adrenal glands (they release glucocorticoids to compensate for low blood sugar). As well, if you're tending to have frequent strong emotional reactions, this can put further stress on this system. Have you had a look into your insulin levels and say, a cortisol tracking experiment for an entire day? Something might be gleaned from examining this, I think. Dodgy adrenals, or HPA axis, as standard medicine espies it, can wreck mysterious havoc across the board.

Do you think your diet might be too restrictive? As in, depending on what's bothering your body, you might need many of the banned substances. Would you consider adding in one new item of excellent nutritional potential at an interval decided by a doctor, after a certain amount of time seeing no change on total restriction?

I think it might be a very telling experiment to eat more widely and put weight on, while reducing exercise to something gentle, like walking for base fitness. The stress you're under with all this would probably affect your appetite anyway -- relaxing the very high standards you have for these things could give you some mental and emotional space to make a start on a rebound, and the same might go for the rest of you :) Just a thought.

Are you eating for low ferritin? I'd like to see if there would be a change if good food delivered the requirements instead of drugs.

Anyway, I hope this helps, even though I know it doesn't :)

@PierreBear, hello there! I've rarely had a truly satisfying response when presenting anything more than a straightforward case to the average doctor, and think a bit of intuitive weighing and relating can help when nothing else can. Or, that's the idea, anyway :)

Aww thanks @sunseeker101. You are very helpful and just getting my thoughts about all this validated is comforting in a way. I'm not crazy. Most physicians don't know a whole lot about these conditions. You're right. Garden variety medical issues easy peasy. Anything off the beaten track uber challenging. I have been through many doctors and there are times one questions one's sanity but I have held strong knowing they don't know what they dont know just as I don't know what I don't know. And it can be overwhelming but I am reading and researching and doing the best I can with my limited comprehension skills at the moment. And I am looking for an MD to partner with me. That is the very tricky part. There are lots of functional MDs who charge 1K per appointment who after reading more closely what they are about seem questionable. I don't mind spending money on excellent or even competent health care but I want to make sure I am getting a physician who is capable and motivated to truly go that extra mile and help me given all the mutations and issues I have. Not so easy as you have found out and I am sorry you went through a similarly frustrating experience. I won't pry but please share if you are up for sharing about your medical journey.

As for eating restrictively and exercising yes to both. I had to be this way from when I was young because I had reactions to so many foods and exercise made me feel better. Now I realize hey this was all due to my genetics and that's why I couldn't eat so many foods as they made me feel sick. And that's why I had idiopathic hives all over my body at times that made no sense. The lightbulb is going on and I see it in hindsight. None of the doctors could make heads or tails of anything and I remember more than a few times the doctors shaking their heads saying to my mom they never saw a reaction like that. Anyway at that time it was all relatively minor stuff and no one including me gave any of it a second thought and fast forward all these decades and bam it's like the MTHFR (and to a lesser degree the MTRR) mutation caused many of these issues.

Right now I am continuing my version of the AIP diet as I want to give it a fair shake. AIP by it's virtue is only meant to be temporary and I will be adding foods back one at a time in the future and see how it goes. Elimination diet to see what foods are aggravating. We know certain foods should be avoided by people who have my mutation. Those can never or should never be added back. Gluten, dairy (this one hurts:cry2: though I ate very little dairy to begin with due to the reactions my body had I did enjoy ice cream weekends in the summer but not a big deal in the grand scheme of things if it helps me get well). soy, added sugar, etc. So I won't be adding those back. But I hope to be able to eat a more relatively relaxed diet in the future.

I eat as much food with iron as possible but who knows what I am absorbing. I think on a cellular level I am not absorbing a lot. Leaky gut? MTHFR mutation offshoot? IDK. But doing the best I can eating and supplementing and will retest next month. The ferritin measures iron stores. My iron levels are high normal but my ferritin is low and from my understanding that is a problem not easily correctable but once one addresses absorption issues and low thyroid issues (which seem closely linked to low ferritin) the ferritin issue can be helped. The big problem right now is we cannot get my thyroid under control and that is closely correlated with my other health concerns. It's all a complex puzzle with many moving parts.

To address your exercise concerns. I don't do high impact anymore as my body doesn't like it. But it loves low impact and it helps me destress. So I hope I never have to give up my low impact cardio. I hear you about adrenal stress and have been trying to get my endocrinologist on board with doing the proper testing but I realize he is not capable of interpreting these tests so I am still searching for a doctor who can help test and diagnose the adrenal issue. Definitely been on my agenda these past 2 months. It's slow moving process when so much is wrong.

That being said I took my first dose of 1.5 mg LDN last night. I will report how it goes. Fingers crossed! And thanks again sunseeker. I appreciate your guidance and support and your sharing of info that you think is helpful.:appl:

@marcy love your mom's heart on your bracelet and it is a lovely sentimental piece you will cherish always. So glad you got that resolved finally. Sweet you got to sleep in till 7AM. Nice going. Hope you are sleeping in this AM as well.

@Austina hahaha we are frizz sisters and bling sisters. Love it. And we are also get out early sisters. Hitting near a hundred today and we are off cycling soon. Enjoy and stay cool girl.8-)

@PierreBear I took a photo for you yesterday (4.9 miles into the trip so at the beginning) but the one with the 35 mph didn't come out as the sun was glaring as we were going down the hill. The climb was hard and slow (2-3 mph lol) but the reward was 35 mph speeds. Here's the best I could do for you.You can see the 31 mph on the speedometer as we were picking up speed going downhill. Thrilling.

cyclingdownhill.jpg

We do have some hills ever the challenge with our recumbent tandem. It's a heavy bike and hard to climb hills but worth it. We have a few different routes we get to enjoy. We feel very fortunate we live in such a beautiful place with forests, beaches, trees, sea, sand, etc. Many different lovely places we can cycle with different challenges to conquer. All fun and energizing and spirit lifting.:halo:

My dh's birthday is not for a few months and not even on our radar yet. I mentioned it because someone here mentioned getting old and I'm like no way girllll. You're not old and neither is Greg. We are all young where it counts anyway. At heart. :kiss2:

Hope you get to enjoy cycling this weekend with your dh and have a wonderful weekend no matter what you do.

@Jimmianne aww thanks but not sure I am doing a good job as I feel almost more confused than when I started:oops: but doing what I can with my current limited mental capacity. I am in a thyroid group and it seems thyroid issues are definitely linked with mental fog. Guilty. And having trouble clearing that fog. I appreciate your support and love always. And Puffy girl's too. (((Hugs))).

OK off cycling. Enjoy this lovely Caturday Saturday and hugs to all.:wavey:

Awwww you guys :kiss2:

Meet Chewy. A precious 4 month old Boston. I’m in LOVE. :kiss2:

Hi NiRDI’s!

Sunseeker, it sounds like you’ve had your share of searching for medical help. Our selection here locally is pretty dismal. Good thing I’ll only go to the doctor if forced to; sad but true.

Missy, I hope you find an excellent, caring and helpful doctor. One of my favorite responses from a doctor was “hm, I’ve never seen anything like that”. That was helpful, huh? Good luck with LDN. I did not sleep as well last night but I think I got enough sleep. Poor Marty got up at 4 am. You and Greg are cooking going downhill; I bet the ride uphill is quite a workout. I think I’ll be very happy with that bracelet; I always love the feeling of jewelry that is solid; it feels so nice. Happy Caturday and cute Chewy.

Who’s with me for hating being on the call with a provider for over an hour and not getting your problem solved? I was on the phone with our voice and internet provider yesterday for close to 90 minutes. My monthly bill says “high speed internet” but I am getting at best a 1/3 of what they advertise as their highest speed. So I called and asked how is it that I am paying for high speed internet but I am lucky to get 30 mbps? She says I have an old package and she’ll update me. Mind you this is the 4th cable/internet provider we’ve had here; one company takes over another. The most irritating thing I find out is once she moves me to their current package with the highest speed my month bill drops $40. Huh? However she can’t get the change to save; nor can the assorted people she talks to when she keeps putting me on hold. Finally it’s time for her to go home so she says my supervisor will finish this and call you back. No call. This morning I went to our local store and a guy meets me at the door and has me fixed in less than 5 minutes. Marty has to install a new modem, we activate it, then I take back the old modem and we are done. I did ask the guy this morning why my service was never updated or why didn’t I ever receive a notice to upgrade? His excuse was they never moved or contacted legacy customers because most of them are TV and they get mad when they lose channels they had with the previous provider. My thinking is that extra $40 a month I’ve been paying for over 2 years since that company took over could buy me a pretty little trinket. Okay, I’ll quit ranting now. But woo hoo my speed test came back awesome and that’s with our old modem.

Marty is playing golf in a chilly 61 degree weather. I am washing sheets so hopefully have those dried and in place before Marty gets home. Since he got up at 4 he’ll be wanting a nap.

Last night we went out and had some ice cream. I had chocolate and cake batter.

Laters,
Marcy

Hello lovelies

The expression on Chewy’s face  the first photo looks like lipstick has been applied.

By the time you get to the root of your issues, you’ll be the leading authority @missy It’s awful that Drs have such a narrow view of certain conditions, and to a lot of them, you’re just a set of symptoms. I find their unwillingness to think outside the box shocking, because you don’t conform to their text books or what they were taught. I think a lot of people would just accept what they’re told, but you’re tenacious and know there’s a way forward from this.

Hope you had a lovely ride today before it got too hot.

So glad you got to sleep in a little and that Marty liked his killer rabbit. Good job on Marty getting his first payment and setting up another client tomorrow - mighty oaks!

Good news that your new bracelet is more substantial and will be a more secure home for your heart charm.

I feel your pain with the hanging on the line, our TV satellite company are always offering new clients better deals than loyal customers. You have to threaten to leave before they’ll give you a better deal. When Colin rang recently, he got us a much better deal and an upgraded system by telling them we were thinking of switching. Mind you, the call was a premium number and cost us £10 :x2

Hope you arrived safely @junebug17 and are enjoying the weekend.

Hi @sunseeker101 you sound like you’ve been through the mill with the medical profession :(2

Hope you’re having a fun weekend @PierreBear and aren’t getting saddle sore :cool2:

It’s been hot but with a nice breeze today, so far more pleasant, not so exhausting.

Enjoy the weekend :wavey:

Hi Nirdis -

Missy, I hope you can find a reliable doctor to help you. I agree that it's challenging to find a naturopathic doctor who is competent and that you can trust. Love the poems you wrote for Austina and Marcy. I'm glad you and Greg can still enjoy some cycling by getting out early. Stay cool and safe in this heat, and hopefully you can beat the heat by doing a little shopping! Aw, Chewy is so adorable! Love him

Austina, I'm so sorry I missed your birthday, Happy belated Birthday to you and I hope you had a lovely day and so glad you enjoyed a delcious lunch. Your outdoor area is beautiful! What a pretty place to be in nice weather. Good for you for tackling that job, I know it's not a fun one but I'll bet the stones look great now. Glad the heat has let up a little for you.

Tekate, I'm so glad you are finally feeling better and mostly free of pain...my heart goes out to you for all you've been through. What a terrible time for you, I can't even imagine. SO happy your suffering is finally over!

PB, glad you had a good time with your friend, and it's nice of you to keep her company while her housemate is away. I'm glad you had the mini-van to sleep in, those Wyoming nights are apparently very cold! I hear you on jewelry, I feel the same way as you...right now I'm just wearing and enjoying what I have, and I don't have a hankering for anything right now. But it's just a matter of time, I'll come up with something eventually lol. And you still have your gorgeous diamond ring to look forward to, I can't wait for you to officially receive it!

Jimmianne, I can't tell you how happy I am that DD's kitty is doing so much better...you are a genius for figuring it out! What a relief it must be to you to see him eating and drinking. Sending tons of healing vibes that the tumor shrinks.

Marcy, Happy Anniversary! I'm so glad Marty liked his killer rabbit. It was nice of you to go back for the oatmeal, you have definitely earned that #1 wife medal lol! I'm glad you and Marty had a nice time going out to lunch. Woo-hoo to Marty getting paid for his training work - It's awesome to be paid for something he loves doing. I love the new bracelet, I'm glad things are working out because it's such a great idea to wear your mom's pendant that way. Ugh, sorry about all the agg with your provider but very glad the guy at the store was able to help and you are enjoying high speed again.

We made it to SC yesterday, took an hour longer due to holiday/summer traffic. We took the Macan because dh loves to drive it lol! I do too actually, it made the long drive more pleasant. Not doing too much today, just settling in and enjoying some time outside. We'll probably go out to dinner tonight and that will be our big excitement. DD and DS are showing up later on in the week so that will be nice ( they're only overlapping by one day, but I'll take it). My sister will also be here at some point.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! <3

Good afternoon girls!

Happy July 1st! Hope everyone is staying cool.:cool2:

@junebug17 hope you're enjoying the pool
36_1_69.gif
swimming4.gif

and the beach and being away from everyday life. So glad your DD and DS will be able to join you this week even for a short visit it will be so lovely. Have fun!

@marcy haha yes that is quite the line to hear from your doctor. As you know we have a lot in common. All of it quite uncommon.
Glad you escaped the hail yesterday but sorry you got caught in torrential downpours. Ahhh summer. It's predictable in that the weather is unpredictable. One moment boiling and the next freezing. As you know atm I would switch in a heartbeat with you for some nice cool weather. Be it wet or dry.
I'm with you. I love nice solid jewelry. A piece that has heft and quality and is here to stay. Enjoy your beautiful and sentimental new pieces. I love them. Are you getting that Tanzanite? It's so purty and I think you need it. Bluetifully bluelicious indeed.
Hope you and Marty slept well last night. Sorry he got up at 4 AM the other night. We are on Marty time as we woke at 330 AM this morning but it was OK because we were cycling by 6AM and beat the heat and still got decent miles in woohoo.

And yes I am totally with you re being on the phone with customer so called support forever and not resolving the issue. Frustrating to say the least. I am glad you got to the bottom of it and did get it taken care of finally. Is there anyway you can get a refund for those years you weren't getting what you were paying for? You never know if you don't ask. They might be able to do something for you to make up for it. Worth a call back when you have the energy. And of course make sure you ask (and insist if necessary) to speak with a supervisor. I would just say the truth. You're a long term loyal customer and would hate to switch providers and would just like them to make it right. Do the right thing and you are happy to stay where you have been all these years. Something like that. GL if you go ahead and make that call. I have a good feeling about it.

@Austina haha I like that. I am tenacious when I need to be and thank you. Sometimes I feel like giving up but then I know I'm not going to do that. Not just yet at least. There's still some life left in me. Wish we had a boxing emoji here. This is the best I can do for the moment.

OK I just read your response to Marcy. I swear I didnt see it before I wrote my response to her as I do one person one post at a time to keep it all straight. What can I say. Great minds think alike.

:whistle::lol:

Hope you're enjoying the weekend and that you are experiencing milder temps than we are. After your heat wave you deserve a nice cool break in the hot temps.

We have been cycling every day despite the heat because we leave early
bikebikebike.gif
and get back before it is super hot. It was hot this AM already but definitely a nice breeze cycling in the shade. And we dont go our normal long distance but we do get some decent cycling in so very pleased about that. If we waited for the weather to be perfect we would be perfectly out of luck much of the time.:halo:

@Tekate so happy and relieved you are doing well and feeling good and these pics are for you. Thank you for enjoying the photos I share and thank you for being such a warm loving person
1237380ar500lxyn4.gif
with such wonderful energy. Hope you are having a fun weekend.

We are way too cheerful for 6AM on a hot summer morning. What's in that coffee?
missyandgregjulycycling.jpg

There were literally hundreds of geese along the Bayshore trail on the way back home cycling today. All enjoying the coolness of the sea.

That's all I have for now girls. Enjoy summer in full swing and leaving you with a dancing penguin for cool thoughts.

Hi NIRDI’s!

Austina, our cable and satellite companies are the same; they give great deals to new customers but don’t offer those savings to existing customers. I have a classic funny email saved at work that is supposedly an actual customer complaint to a cable company over there. It is hysterical. I hope your heatwave cools off.

Junebug, is it really hot at your beach house too? I am glad you and your DH enjoy driving the Macan. I smile every time I drive mine. That will be nice to had both your DD and DS visit there this week and your sister. Relax and enjoy yourself.

Missy, yes we do have a lot in common - unusual things as well. I agree solid or hefty pieces of jewelry feel like better quality. My favorite pieces of jewelry are solid pieces; I definitely plan on adding more platinum. I will not get that tanzanite - the side stones were pretty dull and when I looked online I found they are white topaz. However you know me, I was looking around online at tanzanite rings. But first I have to pay for those windows we ordered. Both of us slept until at least 6 am this morning. It was nice. You and Greg got up early but at least you had a good reason; you could go for a nice ride before it got too hot. I probably won’t call and complain about over paying for years on our phone / internet bill but I am excited to see my monthly bill drop $40. Like Austina was saying you will probably become more of an expert on your conditions than the doctors you are seeing. It is always worth studying up things. I love your selfie with Greg Photobombing you. It’s very cute. How cool so many geese were along the shore this morning.

I started my day by taking care of my chore first thing- grocery shopping. I didn’t even eat breakfast first. Marty hadn’t left for golf yet so he was here to pack in everything for me. Yippee! I have been reading most of the day and watching a little TV. i made us grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch with fresh fruit. For supper we had aa roast beef, potatoes and raw veggies.

I got our monthly astronomy newsletter done and posted. i am working on a program about Mars for our next meeting.

I picked up some lavender nail polish today so I think I’ll get my nails done tonight. And of course wear my lavender sapphire tomorrow.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls! Happy Monday and happy July fourth holiday week. Our heat wave continues. I think it is lasting 10 days or so. This is a long one. Off cycling soon (another super early day) but wanted to say GM.

@marcy good news getting your astronomy letter finished and posted. Your Mars meeting sounds interesting and would love to hear any fun facts you have about Mars. Speaking of astronomy Greg's good friend the Astronomy buff is in town from South Carolina (where he's a professor of Marine Biology) with his wife and we are seeing them this week and will share anything interesting he has to share about astronomy in general. If we get to the topic. We are thinking of visiting the Aquarium with them because of the brutally hot weather. None of us would last too long walking around outside so I chose miniature golf indoors or the Aquarium. Looks like the Aquarium will win. Not very many indoor golf places to choose from as they are mainly all outdoors. Also Greg's friend and his wife are staying about 90 minutes from us so it's a long trip in this heat but we are meeting somewhere in the middle where the aquarium is located so that works well for all involved.

Would love to see that lavender color on your nails when you do them. That is a good summer color Marcy. And will look smashingly perfect with your lavender sapphire.

Grilled cheese is one of (was one of) my favorite dishes. My grandma used to make it grilled to perfection. Oh I can taste it now. Yummm. Sounds like you had a yummy food selection all day yesterday despite skipping breakfast. Glad you enjoyed and hope today is a good day for you at work. When are you taking off for the 4th? Are you taking just that day or hopefully another long weekend? Anyway hope it's a good workweek and no matter what it is an abbreviated one so that's always good right?:halo:

@junebug17 yes to swimming in the pool and enjoying being at the beach house. Sweet it is. Hope dear Zoe is enjoying her getaway too. Hugs from my furry crew to yours.

@CJ2008 hugs to you and Mousey and your other furry babies and looking forward to chatting with you later.

@PierreBear hope you had a good weekend.

Everyone have a great Monday!:wavey:

Hello lovelies

Good grief, there’s no respite! It was stiflingly hot yesterday, so much so, we didn’t even dare take Dottie out. Just spent the day trying to keep her cool.

It didn’t even cool off in the evening :eek2:

Thanks @junebug17 I think I’m not going to count my birthdays from now on, I’ll stick with being a 50 something  Hope you’re having a lovely time in SC and woohoo to your DD & DS visiting later this week. Is it any cooler there than the city?

Good job on getting the newsletter ready @marcy, as we say here, another job jobbed!
I’m with you for getting the chores done early, get them out of the way, and get on with the good stuff! Have you ever been tempted to take up golf? Colin and I used to play, but haven’t done so for quite a few years. We were going to start again this year, but it’s just too hot, and we don’t play in the rain - I think we’re the epitome of fair weather golfers

Glad you’re getting out early and enjoying cycling @missy , I imagine the sea will be a lovely temperature for a refreshing dip after all the exercise. Love the pix and Greg’s photobomb :D

Great idea for a lovely cool indoor meet with your friends, and aquariums are so calming too.

Hope all the other NIRDIs are keeping cool and well.

The only positive thing I can say for the weather is that it’s acclimating us for the trip, which is coming up FAST!!

We went out early today and made sure Dottie was in the shade all the time, as well as a few good splashes in the lake, she’s such a good girl, and didn’t mind at all about not going out yesterday.

As soon as we got back, I did some cleaning, now I’m done for the day, I may not move again until I absolutely have to

Have a great day :wavey:

Austina, awful here too. Too hot to go outside excpet when absolutely needed. Sorry to hear you are getting the heat. Is that unusual for your area?

It’s pretty unusual for it to be this hot for a prolonged period of time @Jimmianne

It’s pretty unusual for it to be this hot for a prolonged period of time @Jimmianne
Glad to hear that for your sake!
We get a few of these heat waves every summer. In a way it’s welcome because the grass stops growing. We are getting to the « brown crunchy » stage here.
When and where are you going on a trip??
Sorry...I am so out of the loop.

Is anyone here into the World Cup? I watched my first ever soccer game last week...France vs. Argentina and went totally gaga. My french sil is an avid fan, so I did research on the players and watched the game to be supportive. What a revelation! I LOVE the game. Today cheering for Mexico.

Hugs all...off to watch the game.

Hello and looks like everyone had a great weekend! We stayed up way too late at the friend’s birthday party and played some games. Do ya’ll remember Taboo? It was interesting since is an old game so current events no longer really applied. You try to get your teammates to guess something but there are certain words you can’t say. We did our normal run practice on Saturday and a bike ride on Sunday. Took a friend out to have dim sum for the first time on Sunday. She loved it! Oh forgot to mention did some house work outside and stuck my fingers in a wasp nest… I know that sounds terrible but we were moving outdoor furniture and didn’t realize that when I was picking up the bench that I felt something soft. I knew it was the wasp nest because 1 guy was buzzing around already. I rannnnn ran ran screaming wildly. Neighbors probably thought I was nuts. Luckily, I was wearing my gardening glove and no harm was done. Gave me the jeepers though… DH killed the wasps and we left the furniture where it was for the day. Haha well 4th of July is mid-week and is a strange time for a holiday. I guess that means we have “two Monday” and “two Fridays.” Be safe everyone!

@Austina – Contractors always have good referrals for other contractors. The one guy we use for all projects on our home is taking a break from small home projects and is committing to a 1-2 year project. I’m already thinking “oh no what if this happens and we need help… who can step in his place if needed?” I know that I shouldn’t even be thinking of the future but yes, it is hard to have someone to trust to the point where we say here is a spare key and come in at your leisure.

Stay cool over there! What have you been cooking for dinner recently since it might be a bit too hot for soup?

@marcy – Glad to hear that Marty got payment from his first client. Very, very exciting!

Ohhh bummer to hear about your internet provider. A bit frustrating but glad to hear of the progress. Yum to your voices on ice cream flavors.

@sunseeker101 – It’s a talent to be able to talk to DRs and have them work in your interest.

@junebug17 – You are too sweet that you still remember about my anniversary ring. I sneak peaks and wear them at home once in awhile. Still excited for the 10 year anniversary to come!

Glad you got to SC safely but bummer on the extra traffic. I bet the Macan made it a more comfortable and fun ride though at least?

@missy – Wow ya’ll get up early for riding. We wake up at 6 and it’s generally not 7 AM until wheels down after we eat breakfast and get the bikes ready to go. Greg is wearing a whistle? Is that to say “come on Missy… let’s pass up these guys up ahead!!” haha : )

@Jimmianne – Not into the world cup but some of the restaurants we’ve been going to had it playing in the background. Did catch the shot where Russia beat out Spain… crazy!

Hi Everyone!! not much new here except the HEAT. It's so hot here in Maine I don't feel like doing a thing. :( @missy do you guys swim at your beach house or do you have a pool? The water is tooo cold here in Maine to ever swim in the ocean :( My husband isn't as happy here in Maine as I am, he's more of a warm weather guy, we have been here for 4 years, so next week we are taking a mini vacation to Virginia to just 'look around' We would be closer to family there, but the HUMIDITY in Raleigh was a killer for me, I'd rather live in the high heat of Austin, at least it wasn't as humid as Raleigh. So this is just a let's look around trip :).

Jaw pain is there there but much less than before, I can live with this. I believe that endodontist who two years ago botched the root canal job caused all this nerve pain/problem, it's slow going up the hill to get nerves in your gums to calm down.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather. We just joined a meat delivery service from Massachusetts, so we are going to have hot dogs, potato salad, deviled eggs, corn on the cob and beans for July 4th!

May the sun be shining all all of you ladies!!

HUGS TO ALL!!!

@missy how's the kitties? My Salley is going to camp next week! I'm sure she will hate it, but for a quick jaunt I'm not brining here.

I hope everyone is well.. let me know!

Kate

Hi NIRDI's!

Missy, soak up all that sun while you can; maybe it will keep you warmer in the cold. Wouldn't that be nice? Funny you should mention fun facts about Mars i was working on looking some of those up tonight for a handout. I'll post them when I get them all worked out. I've got over 2 weeks to get the program put together. I am sure your astronomy friend will be watching Mars brighten already. Enjoy their visit. The aquarium does sound like a good place to visit. The lavendar polish looks more purple in the bottle than on my finger but I like it. I do have the 4th of July off as a holiday and I am looking forward to it already.

Austina, sorry you are having a heatwave too. Like I suggested to Missy try to stock up on that heat while you can. My allergies would not be happy out in our dry and windy weather so I am a 19th hole golfer; I can have drinks with the best of them. i can see why you and Colin prefer to be fair weather golfers. That would be me. Yes, your trip is coming up fast. I am so excited for you. You get out early too; it's nice then to have the rest of the day to relax.

Jimmianne, oh no to having the high temperatures there too. Stay cool inside. Oh no to being at the brown, crunchy stage there - we are like that from the first week of June until it snows. I am not watching World Cup but trust me I know more about it than I ever wanted. I've been dealing with the schedule in 4KHDR and i was so happy today to get the last events out there.

PierreBear, I do remember the game Taboo but only by name. I am glad you had a fun time at your friend's birthday party. Oh my gosh about sticking your finger in a wasp nest. I would run, run, run and scream, scream, scream. I am so glad you didn't get stung. Yes, we do have 2 Mondays and 2 Friday's this week. Woo hoo!

Tekate, I am with you on humidity. We spent 2 weeks near Myrtle Beach a few summers ago and that 90 plus degree temperature with high humidity was awful. I hated it. I am glad the jaw pain is better and tolerable. I hope it just goes away. Your 4th of July menu sounds great. I picked up both chicken brests and boneless beef rids to grill with BBQ sauce plus corn on the cob for our meal that day.

I hated going back to work after a 3 day weekend. My inner self was easily irritated today but I calmly answered each and every question politely. I did manage to quality check some programs as well. One of the movies I watched was about Jeffrey Dahmer in high school. I wouldn't recommend watching it. Tomorrow I get to check It - luckily I am do not get freaked out by clowns.

Marty was talking to a new client tonight so I picked up a thin crust pizza to bring home and back. It was quite tasty plus I have 3 lunches left now. I got canadian bacon and pineapple, my favorite.

Take care.
Marcy

Hurray for half day work days. No real plans for the 4th holiday but we have a work out planned in the morning and will eat at one of our favorite noodles houses. Such a hole in the wall place but it makes me think of Asia. No fireworks for us but neighbors don’t follow the rules so we will still see some from our house. Stay safe everyone!

@Tekate – Glad to hear there is less jaw pain but really hope it’s not something you have to live with forever. I had a bike injury and when I touch that scarred area, the nerves do feel different. Not painful but just unusual sensations. Perhaps the jaw pain will eventually just feel strange but not painful? Fingers crossed! Enjoy your minivacation to Virginia. Never been there before but I’m sure it will be beautiful!

@marcy – hahaha I did both running and screaming and since it was my hand in the wasp nest, I was waving only my right hand up and down. Hurray to Marty picking up another client. Does he like working with a certain gender or age group?

@missy – Did you try using the instapot yet? Made brown rice yesterday and was thinking of you.

@Austina – Hope your week is going well. Is it pilates day yet?

Hello lovelies

:o to sticking your hand in a wasp nest @PierreBear , thank goodness you had gloves on. Those things get pretty angry when disturbed, and their stings can be very nasty.

Yes, today is Pilates day, just one more before the trip, then our teacher will be having several weeks off over the summer. I’ll have to find some other exercise to do.

We eat quite a lot of chicken in various guises, I made a big batch of the creamy garlic Tuscan chicken today, as I’m out to lunch tomorrow, so we’ll have it again on Wednesday. We had fajitas yesterday, so there’s enough leftovers for Colin tomorrow.

I’d forgotten you used to live in Austin @Tekate , whereabouts? Adam lives in the Bee Cave area. Glad the hear the pain is bearable now, but wish you were completely pain free. Do you think you will move again if things pan out in Virginia?

Hi @Jimmianne we’re a no football, no Wimbledon household. The only sport Colin watches is rugby, he’s already looking into whether any channel’s in the US show the international matches

We’re flying to NY at the end of next week, picking up a cruise along the east coast, then spending a few days in NY after. Adam & Kim are meeting us there, and of course, our fearless NIRDI leader is dragging me kicking and screaming to OWD  Of course I’m only going to be polite, I have no interest in ogling diamonds :rolleyes2:

I’ll say it again @marcy - you have the patience of a saint! :D It’s always horrible going back to work when you’ve had a couple of really good days off.

Is this another new client Marty has lined up? Do you call the bacon and pineapple pizza Hawaiian? It sounds an odd combination, but it’s really tasty. I remember my neighbor barbecuing pineapple and covering it with black pepper, it tasted lovely.

I hope the week passes quickly for you.

Hope you’ve had a good day @missy, have you been cycling? Our hot weather is due to last into next week, but at least there’s been a bit of a breeze today, so it’s been more bearable.

I got out and pressure washed down the side of the house this afternoon, so only a little more to do the other side of the house, then it’s all done. I’ve also started packing, I have to do it stealthily so Dottie doesn’t see  I don’t actually think it would bother her, I just don’t want her ‘helping’ by sticking her nose on the clothes or walking on them when I’m folding them to bag up

It’s lovely and cool now thank goodness, so hopefully it shouldn’t be too sticky tonight.

:wavey:

Austina, oh so sorry you have to go to OWD! Lol

I am totally into the World Cup, it is dominating my life. Right now halftime for England vs. Columbia.
Between the 10am and 2pm matches I got this guy out of my front hall. How on earth he got in I will never know.
B7AECD90-D43C-4C12-BD07-C66A74CDAA09.jpeg
Well, back to the game. I am enjoying seeing the various styles of the matches. Mexico vs Brazil was brutal, nasty. Other matches are dramatic, but less injuries. Back to the game, I’m rooting for England.

Back soon

Hi NIRDI’s!

PierreBear, good idea to go enjoy a good dinner tomorrow. Isn’t it great that some people think shooting off fireworks is okay; the rules don’t apply to me? I’ve seen them start fires around here too many times. They shoot off a pretty nice display at our local park but the traffic is such a hassle to get home. Marty doesn’t seem to have a preference yet on who he is training; I think he is enjoying it so far. I’m still screaming for you.

Austina, your trip sounds really fun including being drug to OWD to ogle diamonds. Yes, this is another new client for Marty. Seems like he is at 6 right now. I hope he gets more; some found him on Facebook and others are being referred by the gym he is working for / with. Yes, they call that a Hawaiian pizza. It is my favorite. I’ve had grilled pineapple with cinnamon before; it is very good. You are coming along on your power washing outside. Marty should do that. I’ll tell him. I am sure Dottie will notice you are packing.

Jimmianne, I’d scream like a little girl. Our last house got garter snakes in the basement and some of them found their way upstairs. And I did scream.

I left work an hour early today. I was hungry when I got home so made myself a bowl of mixed fruit. Marty was lifting so I made some noodles and sauce for leftover roast beef. I kept 1/2 of it for lunch later this week.

Our windows get installed next Friday. Sweet.

Have a fun, safe and fabulous 4th of July.
Marcy

Marcy the trick to not screaming is to think the dog brought in a stick. LOL
