Oh my goodness @bling_dream19, boy was it worth the wait. All absolute gorgeousness. I love the 3 prong on the earrings, and they are the perfect size to wear everyday, and woohoo that your jackets go so well for the extra blingyness. The mint green garnet is perfection, such a beautiful subtle colour and I love the bow split shank. What a great find the setting for your spinel is, it really looks totally custom, soft and romantic colour with it’s halo of icy diamonds, you must be thrilled with how they all turned out. You can really see the lovely faceting of your OMC.

Hopefully as the tear is small, this will be a fix for quite a while, as long as I don’t ever need a new knee, I’ll be happy. He said the OA is teeny tiny, and that my knees look really good Ugh that your stitches are not cooperating, what a pain in the backside. I’m sorry that things are all so difficult with the house, one of the reasons we’ll just buy a ‘pre loved’ house, with everything else that’ll be going on, we won’t needed the added stress.

I remember when I saw the news coming from the US on this day 19 years ago, I watched with utter horror and disbelief. We had experienced quite a few attacks from the IRA here, some very close to home, but it was utterly shocking seeing the scene unfold, especially as there was so much confusion early on. All those people who went about their normal business that day, and never returned home.

That man is worth his weight in gold and diamonds @missy but I don’t need to tell you that! What a sweetheart going to clean up on his own. Are you thinking about returning to the city anytime soon, or was it just to get on top of things? I hope you managed to get in some cycling today, it’s another lovely day here, all good for the garden . You really wonder what goes through their little heads, Gracie looks like she’s studying something intently, but who knows what.

I’ve just got back after having the injection. I’ve never seen such a huge needle, I actually thought it was going to come out the other side of my knee Apparently despite them finding that steroids help if you have Covid, it can lower you immunity if you don’t have it, so I had to sign a waiver saying I understood the risk. We’re not planning on doing or seeing anyone for a few days, so I’m not too concerned. I have to take it easy for a couple of days, so I’ve told Colin he has to wait on me hand and foot, but he doesn’t believe me

No plans for the weekend, other than probably getting a takeaway tomorrow so I don’t have to cook.

I am SOOOOOOOO far behind. No time like the present to catch up.

@MamaBee of course I’d zoom in on a Tiffany band; it’s gorgeous. I have 4 wedding bands I wear but the Tiffany Etoile is my favorite.

@Jimmianne it took all week but we finally reached 70 degrees again today. Darn that early blast of winter. It is fun to look at houses and when you find the perfect one you’ll know it. That jack hammer looks like a lot of work.

@missy we ended up with about 3” of snow on the ground here; most of it melted right away. North of us had almost a foot of snow. Too early for that much white stuff. Glad to see you and Greg are getting in lots of miles this summer and how nice Jimmy will let you and Greg get your own ice cream. He knows you guys are the best. I wonder what Gracie was watching out the window - or maybe she was enjoying the view. Those pictures of Greg are priceless; I am totally chuckling at his expressions and excitement. Yes, Jimmy took good care of you too. Gorgeous sunrise!

@Austina thank you for mentioning putting the heater on; I need to switch it back to AC. That is too bad your friend has Addisons and is cold all the time. Marty would get nervous if I watched that many episodes of How To Get Away with Murder. Ha Ha. I see the Spanish Princess is coming back to Starz next month; I watched the first season of that and enjoyed it. Glad to hear your knee won’t need surgery and I hope the steroid injection makes the tear feel better. And yes Colin should wait on you hand and food.

@canuk-gal glad you are having nice weather. I am all thumbs with a curling iron and usually burn myself. Now I’m a wash, comb and go girl.

@bling_dream I love all of your new treasures. Mint garnets are such a great color. Everything looks wonderful. That’s tough to wear all of your new jewelry at once. I had to post my old picture of the Killer Rabbit opening one of my jewelry deliveries. Marty likes to tease me when he gets a package and I want pictures. If he’s bored he’ll send me sequential pictures with captions.

@Bayek I’ve gotten so I read this and the other thread where I post and often don’t venture further. I need to get batter at at least checking the new items in SMTB. Woo hoo for being sling free!!! Progress. Darn that your internal stitches aren’t dissolving; hoping they work out quickly and pain free. That’s great your bathrooms are pretty much done in the house. Thanks for the kind thoughts about 9/11; it seemed to hit me pretty hard this year. Such a horrible time and so many lost. It doesn’t seem like it was 19 years ago.

I am glad the weekend is here but I spent 90 minutes this morning in my PJ’s taking care of multiple baseball games and changing blackouts on a college football game. I commented at work yesterday - you know most of these people are working from home you’d think they could get up the information in a more timely manner. Tomorrow morning might be another fire drill. Joy!

We had a quiet day. I did laundry and we went out for lunch. Marty washed both of our vehicles and used the power washer to on the garage floor. I ordered Christmas lights for our new Christmas tree. Our pre lit tree has been a major pain for a few years trying to find the “bulbs” that are burnt out. Last year Marty spent almost 5 hours going through each and every bulb so he threw out the tree when we took it town. I ordered an artificial tree without lights last month so ordered some lights today. We need a few strands of mini lights because we have quite a few ornaments with sound or lights that he puts in place of a bulb. I also ordered some LED C6 size - they are pretty small but larger than mini lights. I am not rushing Christmas it’s just that with things hard to find now because of supply chains I decided to buy early!!!

I am going to order some pre cooked beef brisket today from both Omaha Steak and Kansas City Steak to test for the family Christmas. Trying to cook that much meat for about 20 people is a challenge especially to get it all uniform.

@missy, Greg is such a joker! Glad you got to enjoy a ride and a huge portion of ice cream. The sunrise is spectacular, when you see that, you’d almost believe all was right with the world. I’ve posted an article in the CV thread that was in The Telegraph, very interesting about the wearing of masks, if you’re interested. I can always email it to you directly, I had to screen shot it as it’s a subscription service. Have a lovely Sunday.

Good idea to try out the brisket from both companies @marcy, Adam cooks amazing brisket, he has a smoker with a Wi-fi probe so can control it from his phone while he works He generally gets a big enough one for 20-30 people and there’s rarely a scrap left when Kim’s family are around. Oy to having to work yesterday, but at least you didn’t have to get dressed to do it! It seems strange to be talking about Christmas, but it’ll be here soon enough.

I hope your shoulder is feeling better every day @Bayek, and that you’ve managed to sort out your applIances for the house.

My knee was really aching yesterday, I don’t think anything’s wrong, I think it was from the needle. The Dr said I may get steroid flare after a couple of days when all the anesthetic wears off, but it was very uncomfortable. It’s not hot or red which he said to look out for, so I think it’s internal bruising.

Just having a lazy day today.

Just needle bruising.That needle definitely would cause pain and by today I hope it has dissipated to the point of being non existent. I have not seen your article yet and I will search it out. I am definitely interested. I hope it was pro mask. IMO, from what I know, countries that wear masks regularly had a lower Covid 19 outbreak and that has to be the explanation. Greg and I had a lovely ride yesterday and enjoyed ice cream too. I got all Strawberry because Jimmy's vegan strawberry is the bees knees. Greg got PB swirl also vegan and I had some and it was GOOD. Yesterday was cool and autumn like and a wonderful ride despite the wind. I loved every moment of it. Today is warmer and more humid but still looks like a good cycling day hopefully. Jimmy is going away next week but he promised us we can get ice cream every day so today we will place our order for the next 5 days LOL. Is anyone as serious about ice cream as we are? Are we crazy? Yasss crazy for ice cream. And cycling. LOL just crazy I guess.


The staff knows how much we enjoyed the larger serving and insisted on giving it to us like that yesterday too despite the fact that they open earlier on weekends and are open when we get there by noon on weekends. Jimmy is only charging us for 2 scoops. He is really too nice but we appreciate it and we appreciate his friendship too. It's lovely here and there are lovely people here too despite all the chaos and trouble all over there are still amazing people all over.





I tried capturing the beauty that was all around us yesterday during the autumn like temps and fall like feel with a wind to match. It was breathtaking and I will try sharing video later either here or on IG.

@Austina Adam’s brisket sounds delicious. We’d do that too but there is no way we can plan on grilling in December around here. I noticed they had large briskets at Sams Club. Yes, Christmas will be here before we know it and I worry the stores won’t get in their usual supply of Christmas trees and lights so why not order them now. Sorry to hear your knee is hurting; but as large as that needle was I am not surprised. I hope it feels better soon.

@missy your ice cream photos make me smile too - and makes me want ice cream. We just had some cherry chocolate ice cream. Mmm. I am out of cookies though; I’d best work on that. As for you being a poet - there’s nothing to it if you know how to do it! Ha Ha. I couldn’t resist. Yes, Greg would be a gifted actor - like Lucy whose face can tell it all without her uttering a word. You guys are too classy to be part of that Hollywood crowd though. Great pictures again today and love seeing Gracie. Too funny about the cat food meme. It reminds me of another meme I saw with a cat and dog looking out the window at a car pulling up. The dog says good our master is home and the cat says it’s about time they showed up to do my bidding.

Not much exciting going on here. I had to work for about 2 hours - what I had to do took me only minutes but I had to wait for the “go ahead.” After I logged out of my work computer I went downstairs and lifted. Marty grilled steak and corn on the cob for lunch. I plan on goofing off the rest of the day.

@Austina hello!!!! hello! now I've had needles in my hips and shoulder - and I think a knee would hurt more... I found over the years that there was not immediate relief but within a week or two I would notice HEY the pain isn't as bad, but after about 3 years of that my osteoarthritis kept on and eventually nothing helped, except replacement.. John makes jokes that he's saving for my left shoulder, I say Shut Up!

yes 9/11 is forever in our lives, Mike was a freshman in high school and I would drop him off at his high school on my way to work and he's yelling Mom, MOM! a plane crashed into the World Trade center, so I came out and he and I were watching and all of a sudden a second plane comes round and I said to Mike and I will never forget, "look Mike that must be a plane that puts out fires!" and then it hit.. neither he or I will forget it.. And I remember the IRA bombings very well, I'm sure that is in your psyche forever.. we move along but we are changed. sending you hugs a can't waits! xooxoxo to see you.

Hey we are smoking little chicken drumettes right now, Mike gave John a starter smoker for fathers day this year.. but I AM! impressed with this smoker Adam has, I gotta see that one.. Mike loves to smoke meat and also barbecue.. There is a saying I'm sure you have seen, "I wasn't born here but I got here as fast as I could Texas" !!!! We can't wait to have you here.

this is the master bath, the blue glass it supposed to be rain and the grey tile is supposed to be clouds, I couldn't put more glass in because it would have been off kilter, I like it, John likes it and Cara loves it!



Here's HUGE pix of the glass tile accent, the grout it full of glitter, I am a glitter girl.. it's understated but I love it..

The house is really pretty plain in many ways, I didn't want subway tile but we had a tile allowance and we went over even that.. so I'm happy with the bathrooms..


and finally! the no pool - pool, we cannot get the builder and the pool guy to work together, the pool builder needs the well because he needs high pressure water and we thought the well was going in today, nope, so the pool builder is way behind.. so anyway it's a loverly shade of Green! I call it the pit of no return!..

Hi to everyone else. We had a good cycling day and hoping to cycle today as well. Our homemade vegan ice cream selection was quite yummy too. I had PB swirl and vanilla and Greg had all PB swirl. We placed an order for the next 5 days since Jimmy will be away. LOL it is hard choosing the flavors in advance but to make it simple I chose strawberry and vanilla and Greg wanted all PB swirl each and every day.

@marcy I love your tone of writing and my favorite part is you goofing off the rest of the day! I LOVE days like that. Nothing better than to chill and do what you want. And your buttery corn sounds amazingly delicious! We have been enjoying lots of grilled corn this summer and it's been delicious. And I love your icecream cookies and steaks! We too have been enjoying steaks and corn. We met my parents for a yummy Mexican meal last night.
@Bayek ! I hope you're feeling better. My hubby loves Franks's too - we get the large bottles from Costco but we've never gotten the particular wing sauce, we'll have to try it. He LOVES wings. Your home is just spectacular! I love the fireplace and baths. This is going to be a relaxing and very functional home and very enjoyable. And you made me about green with envy. My hubby really loves the mint garnet too.

We’ve started watching a series about how killers give themselves away during interrogation, and I said to Colin the other day that I’m sure I could commit the perfect murder with all the tips I’ve picked up @marcy so he better watch out Aww phoney to have to work at the weekend, I hope they appreciate your diligence.

Those clouds do look like ice cream @missy and I’m living vicariously through all your photos, it’s saving me a lot of calories I don’t need. Glad you managed to get out for a ride and enjoy the great outdoors. Just look at those huge whiskers on Gracie and her cute little mittens, she’s such a little beauty.

We popped out today to fill up the car and get more compost, and the good news is, that my knee has finally stopped hurting and feels normalish.

We’re going to meet Sue & Rob for lunch tomorrow and discuss the final details of our trip to the Isle of Wight next week.

GM lovely ladies. It's winter here. LOL. It's freezing. Not literally but man it is chilly. We went from summer to winter overnight. Yesterday was warmish and today is coldish. It's 63 degrees in the bedroom as we slept with the terrace doors open. Chilly. It is going to be a cool ride and even more interesting will be eating ice cream outside. Last year we ate ice cream inside the shoppe once it got colder out but now with Covid we are eating outside no matter the weather and I don't know how cold I can go. We shall see. I wish there was a space heater that operated on batteries that we could take with us on our cycling adventures so when we had ice cream I could put it on and blast it on me lol.

@Slick1 how is school going? We renewed our license on line woohoo. I will message you more about that. The governor decided due to the huge lines at the DMV because of them being closed for months he would grant a reprieve to all those whose licenses were about to expire. Whew. Hi to everyone else. We had a good ride yesterday and we also got to see Jimmy right before we left and met his wife. It's a complicated story I won't share but they are still great friends and still married in name. She is great. It was so wonderful to meet her finally and we had a delightful chat. Of course the ice cream beforehand was amazing and the cycling so much fun. We are hitting 5K today so woohoo. We are behind last year's mileage but of course we have much more to do this year for reasons some of you know but it does not matter. As long as we are enjoying that is what counts. I am not focused on the numbers as much as I used to be for many reasons. Life is short. I want to enjoy each day and live in the moment. Being a numbers person it can be challenging as I have goals but the years have added wisdom and perspective. Finally. LOL. Have a lovely day ladies and big hugs to my friends.

What a difference in the weather @missy. It’s been lovely here today, so warm and sunny. Glad you can still get out and cycle, I imagine you can get pretty warm building up a head of steam on the tandem. Thank you for your lovely words, I feel the same about all of you guys. Honestly, I feel sorry that people will miss out discussing a subject that interests them, but it’s pretty obvious from the comments that get bandied about, that people use their ‘passion’ for a topIc in order to insult and belittle anyone who doesn’t agree with them. It just spoils it for those who do and can play nicely. As you say, behaving like a child in order to get what they want isn’t going to work.

How lovely to see the Mama and baby deer on your ride, they’re such beautiful graceful creatures. I feel pretty much the same about bling, I really have what I want, and anything else would just be bling for bling’s sake, I have so much I don’t even wear, I couldn’t justify buying anymore.

How are all the lovely NIRDIs doing today?

We went out to lunch, and sat outside, it was glorious, the perfect weather. Discussed the final arrangements for next week with Rob & Sue, we’re all really looking forward to getting away for a couple of days.

The weather has been cool these last few days but is supposed to improve as we head to the mountains for some fun. The smoke from the fires is also dissipating so that is also good.

Went to the dentist today as one of my crowns fell off--he was able to recement it but he felt should it come off again, I'd probably lose the tooth.

Work was not very busy yesterday--that was a nice change!

@missy HOLA sweet girl, how's the furbabies, Greg and your family? How are your nieces doing in school, do they go into school or is it all online ? Here they go for two weeks, then two weeks home school, then back, kids are always rotating.. in Texas elementary school kids are getting Covid at 3X the rate of adults so far and college student 2x the rate, it's all a bit scary.. live and let live I suppose but we will not be anywhere close to 50% coverage till the end of next year. sucks.. have P/T tomorrow morning and John is going up to the house to continue to cut the wood into reasonable pieces, we had a bunch of trees taken down when the house started. Miss you! and Tara seems so sad.. so so sad, of course it's normal but it breaks my heart.. xoxoxo

Nothing new on the house, builder stopped by today to pick up our fans etc and I asked him about the pool build and getting in touch with him and he didn't blow me off but all he said was 'I'm on it' okay.. my family is good and nothing else is new. @Bayek you and Mike were in NYC on 9/11? Seeing it in person must have been horrifying - more so than those of us watching on TV. Such an awful day. I remember you said you lost 2 of your wedding bands; darn they were lost before Cara could maybe enjoy one of them. I am totally with you on grilled corn on the cob; it’s the best. It’s not bad baked but not quite the same. My knee still gets my attention; it is less painful right now though - kind of instant sharp, jabbing pain then goes back to a dull ache. I think my leg muscles are helping. Not going to save it but prolong the time I need surgery. Marty and I are already dreading that cold and snow but it’s not like we can avoid it unless we move. Your house is looking great and hopefully those 40 days fly by. Yay that Auti said pizza. Apparently my first word was “no” and my first sentence was “that’s mine”. Can you guess I was the youngest kid? I hope your arm is feeling better - did those stitches work their way out yet?

@canuk-gal I hope your weather warms up for the weekend. It was beautiful here today but typically breezy. That’s good the smoke isn’t coming your way; we are under light to medium smoke here; depends. Oh no about your tooth; I hope the crown stays on this time.

I often tell Marty to sleep with one eye open and he always answers “I always do”. I did get a thank you from a senior manager for the last minute update I made on Sunday. That’s great you knee is feeling better today. How fun to make plans for your trip. Nice to go out for lunch and set outside.

My day off started with a request to log in and do a test of one of our applications since they loaded a software update last night. I sent a text to one of my employees already at work to do the test but she couldn’t get logged in. I logged in and took care of it. What would they do without me?

Our cleaning lady came today. After she left I ventured to the grocery store. Took my about 90 minutes in the store and I bought more than normal so I won’t have to go back as soon. Every time I saw an “X” or “stand here” I thought of the road runner meme and stood off to the side of it. Ha. They aren’t going to sucker me. Speaking of sucker me I sure got on someone’s spam list - I’ve been getting about 50 calls a day about some computer security I paid for that wants to give me a refund. The calls are from all over including Russia.

I ran a few errands this afternoon and have brewed up chocolate chip cookies.

Hi all! A quick drop in before I drop into bed...
I hope all is well with everyone! I have been checking in and enjoy reading about your daily lives. The NIRDIs are such a special group!!
School is crazy busy! I've had to come home and take a nap every day! You'd think remote teaching would be somewhat easier but nope!! New technology is never easy, especially with the population I work with. Next week the kiddos come back hybrid. Or at least they are supposed to. I am nervous about Covid, but I also know that it would be better education wise to have them in class.
I share my classroom with three other staff members and the first morning we were so careful with distancing and masks. By lunchtime we were maskless and leaning over each other and the computers trying to figure out the tech...
Still missing my pooch, Chase. Especially when I come home from work and he isn't there wagging his tail to go out...My DS and DIL have placed a deposit on a Golden Retriever pup for next spring or summer so I guess I will get my dog love fix from their pup..
I have been working in the garden again after a two year bad-health hiatus. Finally feel well enough to get back into it in earnest!

@missy I am so happy you were able to renew your license. I will have to check but I think NYS has given a reprieve since they are closed for in person transactions. Love your riding and ice cream pics. Hope you, Greg and the fur babies are well!

Oh, I am waiting for a new ring to be delivered. It is a moissy baguette eternity band. I figured I would try it out first as I am hyper sensitive with rings and I am not sure it will be comfy for me. It was supposed to arrive today at my school but it is taking a circuitous route to me.
