@Bayek it's so good to be married to a smart man. Glad your house had minimal damage and not more. Keeping the pumps warm was so smart. Hopefully, everything has nearly recovered for everyone. Have they figured out how/where it went so sideways? Glad to read you're feeling better now after your vaccination. Three days of fever would be really unsettling and upsetting.

My daughter's partner loves saltwater aquariums (obsession would be a good word here) and has tanks of saltwater creatures. During the Texas power outage, Texas "reefers" had their tanks wiped out, losing thousands of dollars of exotic fish and coral, etc. So daughter and partner are working to collect donations here in Virginia and overnight sea creatures to collectors in Texas to start over. I thought that was sweet.

Today, I am so so happy.

I don't speak very much about him because he is an adult and very sensitive about the subject, but my son has been struggling for years to find a decent job. People with autism, even very smart, employable people, have trouble finding jobs because they may present a little differently. My son has a college degree but has spent years cooking fast food or pushing carts at a big box store and waiting for a chance. He has had an open case with the Dept of Rehab for eight years or so. He finished his network + and security + for networking. But he was been waiting for that big chance. To say he had lost hope doesn't even begin to cover it. I have been afraid for him. This is a man I have not seen smile much for a year and speak in permanent monotone.

Yesterday he bounded up the stairs and sat on the couch and exploded in laughter and glee and was giddy. He had just had a job interview and aced it. He said they were still interviewing, but he felt so positive that they told him he did an excellent job answering the questions three of five questions. As he was talking to me, they called him back and offered him the job on the spot. A long-term contract for potential hire. He has to drive an hour each way but does not care. My heart is so happy, ladies. I have been so worried for him.

My friend who was waiting on SSI finally had money come in.

Ritani upgrade and lab eternity in process (check). This is not new.
However, I saw these pearls yesterday on Cees Instagram. I inquired and they were so reasonably priced I couldn't say no. Oh my word, that gold. I don't mind the blemishes at all, I sort of like the organic feel.
I ran it by Steven who said I should have a "toy" for my new job acquisition (we call our pet splurges toys, he has some too). What a sweetheart. These are on the way from Amsterdam I'll knot them myself and looking for a clasp now. I spoke with Pattye from PatriciaSaabDesigns about silk color and we think the regular gold may be too light.

@missy I didn’t even try to turn on the Apple TV today - I’ll stick with the satellite receiver - I better know how to work it, right? My sister’s cat decided my BIL was okay again today. My BIL saw his regular doctor and he approved of everything the other doctors have been doing. They will schedule his nose surgery soon. I hope your appointments went well today.

@mrs-b you changed your avatar - very pretty diamond and ring. I totally laughed at “I just want to watch TV”; I’ve said that many times. I hate coming home and finding the TV tuned to iTunes, Prime or one of our streaming services. I either forget it or go watch another TV. The one in the den isn’t hooked up to anything else. Ha! Did it warm up there? We were in the 50’s today - woo hoo flip flop weather in Wyoming! That’s nice spring arrives there in April - I don’t believe we are done with snow until about June 5th and then I wouldn’t bet on it. Looking forward to all of your new jewelry projects. I hope you start feeling better soon. How exciting your friend and goddaughter have arrived. Sounds fun!

@Austina I am kind of surprised to hear one of your dogs would sulk when you guys went somewhere. Is that usual for dogs to act that way? We only had dogs when I was very young so I don’t remember their behavior very well. Glad you have only 1 remote. I can see 4 on the coffee table right now. Sometimes I pull up the remotes on my phone; I seem to have less trouble with the remote apps. That’s great to get your travel and hotel arranged for July. Are you finding big discounts right now? Greg and I went for a nice walk yesterday and the temps were in the 50s so that was wonderful. It is much colder for the rest of this week and very windy so we shall see if we get to go for a walk. Good news your Mum got her first vaccination @canuk-gal , I hope she’s feeling fine and had no serious reaction to it.

Hopefully the vaccination situation will be a lot better in SC @junebug17 and you and DH will be able to get yours without too much bother. There’s always such a lot to do before you go away, I often wonder why we go, but then the minute we reach our destination I realise it’s all been worth it. Have you done anymore painting lately?

What a great thing to do @MMtwo, I’m sure all those who lost their fish during the outages will be extremely grateful to receive new stock. We used to have tropical fish, and lost them all when the thermostat when kaput WOW, that’s fantastic news for your son, you must be so proud and happy that he made such a great impression that he was offered the job so quickly. I wish him every success in his new position.

Most of our dogs were always happy to see us when we got home @marcy, just Monty, he was very sensitive, and didn’t like us leaving him, even though he was spoilt rotten when we were away. Dottie was always very restrained, we knew she was happy to see us, but she was never one to make a big fuss. That’s good news that your BIL’s Dr is happy with the treatment he’s received, and hopefully he can have the surgery soon and start to get better.

I hope you’re having fun with your guests @mrs-b and that the Humira is working it’s magic on you.

I’m sorry that life is so difficult at the moment @missy, and that the Dr’s appt didn’t go as you would’ve hoped. You have had more than your fair share of challenges, and it’s about time you got a break. Continuing to keep you in our thoughts and sending lots of love and good wishes your way.

We actually went to the supermarket yesterday, first time in months, it wasn’t particularly busy so we took a list each and got round as quickly as we could. We didn’t manage to get out for a walk because it was foggy in the morning, and wet in the afternoon.

We finally got the paperwork from the electrical contractor Good grief, we spent hours looking at every light switch, electrical socket, light placement, tv point, USB point, telephone point, and anything remotely electricity related, went through endless pages of lists of extras - half of which we don’t know what they are, and the other half, don’t know if we need them We’ve got a meeting in a hour to discuss it with them, so hopefully they can clarify a few things with us.

Edited to add, Adam took Bertie to the vet yesterday, and much as I thought, she definitely thinks he’s a lot younger than the shelter said. I’ve always thought he’s still a pup, and the vet thinks he’s probably only 12-18 months old.

We seem to have an excess of them but messed up in a few spots - the closet (basically a room) has NO outlets and our bathroom doesn’t have a light switch by each entrance. It’s hard to plan them out - Marty drew out each room - especially figuring out his wiring for speakers. How exciting to be working on design though. Nice that Bertie is younger than thought.

No much going on with me today. Frustrated with work; we are crazy busy which means more of the cracks shows. We ordered in Mexican food for lunch. My excite-O-meter didn’t register much today.

Hi to everyone else. We had a good day yesterday. Went to Costco and it was quick. Not crowded again so that was sweet. And I got my favorite new snack I am addicted lol. It's a mushroom chip and it is soooooo good. And then we went for a walk and managed to enjoy a nice long walk despite the chilly wind. It was good to be out in the fresh air and out of my head if you kwim.



Being in nature helps one feel better about things and puts life in perspective. Even puts death into perspective. It's peaceful and calming.

Today is very windy so not sure if we are going for a walk but we are going to do something outside for a while at least even if it is just to go to the outdoor outlets and walk there as it is somewhat protected from the wind. A little bit anyway.

Ugh, sorry work is manic at the moment @marcy, doesn’t sound like much fun. Who’d have thought a year ago, a trip to the supermarket would be the highlight of our month? Talk about hitting the highs on the thrill-o-meter I hope today was less hectic and stressful.

@bling_dream19 you go girl, you’re on a roll, I saw the thread, and all I can say is WOW, that’s one spectacular bracelet.

That’s good news your son is feeling better @Polabowla, and I hope the school starts listening. You shouldn’t have to get a man involved before they listen to your concerns, what is this the 18th century ?

Not long to go now @MMtwo until you start your new job. When will your DS be starting his, I expect you’re all still on cloud 9 over the good news.

I hope you managed to get out today @missy, it was pretty cold here, just 4 deg C when we went to the country park for a walk, it rained yesterday so it was really muddy and slippery. I does help to clear your mind and commune with nature, although it’s great to get back home in to the warm!

The meeting went well yesterday, we added a few extra sockets, moved the TV and data points (they’d put them in what we thought were odd places), changed the lighting in the laundry and master walk-ins, and organised the electric hook-up for the pool. I had a nice surprise today when I looked at the house floor plan and saw the price has gone up by $80,000. Thank goodness we didn’t hesitate and got on with signing the contract when we did.

Who knew black colored runners are all the rage???? I bought some b/c all my runners are pastel colors and they new constant cleaning and I wanted a dark color to hide the dirt! But all and sundry have black runners/sneakers/slip ons. LOL

12C and a great day for a ride. Winds picked up but I dressed well today. Really enjoying my new ride. Too bad the reasons for needing a new bike, but that's life.

@Austina that is sweet you got in before the price went up. Yassss. We did get to walk yesterday and the day before. Though yesterday since it was super windy and cold we walked at the outdoor outlets haha and I bought 2 pairs of shoes I did not need. Greg is such an enabler. The outdoor outlet was empty. As in nobody but the employees and us. I think because it was so cold outside yesterday so no one was as crazy as we are to be walking outside there haha. I am not complaining as I like empty but it is worrisome for the businesses and they might have to close if it doesn't pick up. I did speak with some of the employees there and they said it varies and some days are very busy so fingers crossed everyone keeps their jobs there and businesses remain viable. We are so close to being through this pandemic. More and more people getting vaccinated here and hopefully everywhere. The J&J vaccine is making a big difference. Hugs and have a good weekend.

@canuk-gal Yay for cycling yesterday. So much fun and yes, new bike not for a great reason why but still sweet having a nice new bike. Making lemons out of lemonade. I am glad you got new sneakers. Speaking of shoes I made 2 impulse shoe purchases yesterday, one waterproof and one water resistant. I will share them below. Do not need them at all but Greg ever the enabler insisted. LOL who am I to turn down more shoes? Big warm hugs.

Hi to everyone else. Greg and I went to the outdoor outlets yesterday and did our walking there. Since it was so cold and windy it is a little bit more protected there than walking in the woods or parks. As I wrote above there was no one out yesterday and we had the place to ourselves. Probably because it was so windy and cold out. Greg got PJs (so exciting lol) and I ended up with 2 pairs of shoes that while I don't need are fun. And one is waterproof and one is water resistant. Both from Cole Haan. And some good news. I picked up extra thyroid meds just in case and used Good Rx and it wasn't too expensive. So now I will have an extra 3 month supply just in case. It makes me feel calmer having an emergency stash.
