Now I really did it :((

What is your secret to great meatballs! My sister's neighbor (Italian) showed her his tricks--then she to me and man did it ever make a difference!! He added a lot of fresh parmesan and fresh sauce to the meat then mixed and mixed it. They are so tender and tasty!!

So no Baccala for you?

No Baccala! I also add good parmesan cheese, a touch of cream, a little bit of smashed roasted garlic, and sausage to the ground beef. :lickout:

Missy and others, If you are ever in New Jersey or nearby in NYC or Bucks County PA you should see the Seward exhibits at Grounds for Sculpture. https://www.groundsforsculpture.org/

What kind of sausage?

We’re finally home!

Good morning girls and happy Sunday!!!

@Austina welcome home! So happy you had a wonderful trip despite a small blip

Missy and others, If you are ever in New Jersey or nearby in NYC or Bucks County PA you should see the Seward exhibits at Grounds for Sculpture. https://www.groundsforsculpture.org/

Hi @danusia! Yes we saw this and it is wonderful! Thank you for sharing with us! I even posted photos a week or so ago.

@MamaBee and @canuk-gal speaking of meatballs Greg had her homemade meatballs yesterday and he said they were delish. She has a secret ingredient...I am not sure if she still puts it into the meatballs but it was/is coca cola. Ha. Ingenious. I don't eat meatballs but Greg loves my mom's homemade meatballs and she sent some home with him too...poor Greg. I am just not a cook in any way shape or form

@mrs-b I LOVE your holiday letter. Full of warmth, love and compassion. Just like you sweet lady

@bling_dream19 @Slickk @marcy and everyone else, I hope all is well and you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. We saw my parents yesterday. Originally we were planning on seeing them Christmas day (parents anniversary) but my mom and dad are attending a party the day before on Christmas Eve so I had to squash those plans. I mean no to any parties during the uptick in covid cases and RSV and the flu etc. I am worried about my parents but they are stubborn and I cannot control their behavior. So we changed our plans and saw them yesterday. It was a lovely visit. I didn't take many photos but here are a few.

And lastly for @canuk-gal and @mrs-b
here is a photo of my bracelet as promised
I took it when we got back home

We were pretty tired when we got home last night. I am a bit worried as Greg seems more tired than usual but I am keeping an eye on him. I worry because around this time in 2018 our dear friend died suddenly and it is on my mind this time of year. I don't mean to be morbid but it was a terrible shock to all his loved ones and just like that. He was here and fine one minute and then gone the next :( Oh my, I am sorry. I didn't mean to bring this into the thread but it is on my mind and I am a worrier. Working on that

But speaking of tired...lol Gracie was very very tired and was sleeping on me last night as we watched a movie on the couch. A good movie I recommend...with Ethan Hawke. "First Reformed"

I love when Gracie sleeps on me...she purrs and drools and then falls asleep (just like me) haha

Have a super satisfying Sunday lovely ladies. Be well and enjoy. XOXO

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!

It is absolutely freezing here (-24C), so I am not a happy camper. Busy weekend. Have been watching Christmas shows; some hits and some misses. LOL Enjoying my new Nest candle--ginger and vanilla.

@missy you guys look great!!! Glad you had a nice visit with your folks. Gorgeous jewels!!!
@mrs-b how are you guys feeling?
@Austina are you guys jet lagged? Did you buy anything on your trip??
@marcy how's your weather?? Enjoy your new ring!

Stay safe and well folks.

cheers--Sharon

GM girls and happy Monday!
We went hiking yesterday but Greg isn't feeling great so fingers crossed whatever he has is nothing serious. We are concerned with his kidney stones coming back and well long story but just praying it isn't his HPT rearing its ugly head because that would mean more surgery.

@canuk-gal I love those candles. Smells great. Thanks for the bling love. Stay warm...it's cold here too. Brrrr

Hi everyone else. Hope all is well. Enjoy a wonderful week. XOXO

We saw deer during our hike yesterday and then we ended up at the beach and it was so lovely

Hello lovelies

Everything crossed that Greg feels better soon @missy. I’m so happy you got to spend time with your parents, and happy anniversary to them for Sunday! Your bangle is gorgeous, I don’t think I’ve seen it before.

Jet lag has hit us hard, we were 17 hours out of whack! When we got to London on Friday we managed to stay awake until 8pm, but then I woke up at 10.30pm thinking it was morning, and that was it, I couldn‘t get back to sleep. We were up at 5am for our flight, which ended up being delayed for 2 hours, so all in all a very long day. We went out and did the food shopping yesterday, but were pretty zonked. We’ve just had a violent storm, lots of lightening, and the thunder shook the house :???:

I’ll try and catch up with you all when I’m less tired, big love and hugs to you all :wavey:

HI:

-28C extreme cold warning here. For a few days at least. That is all I can muster.

@missy hope Greg perks up soon and there is nothing to worry about.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@Austina glad you had a wonderful vacation. Nice flying first class on Emirates is so nice and cool to take a shower on the flight. I bet you’re glad to be home. For as long as you were gone, I am not surprised you have serious jet lag. When Marty was going to Europe and Africa a lot, his sleep was really messed up for months.

@missy the deer are sure plentiful on your hikes. Nice. I didn’t send that wind your way, I am glad you guys have a generator. Love the snowman with the Florida sign. We should build one of those here. Ooh interesting about Coke in meatballs. I should try all this great tips. Nice to visit your parents and I love that bracelet. I hope Greg feels better soon.

@canuk-gal sorry it’s so cold there, and sadly it’s coming here by Thursday. And our wind just won’t quit. Ooh thanks for the meatball tip. We enjoyed lots of Christmas programs this weekend too.

@MamaBee your Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner sounds great. One of my good friends in college was Italian and they always had prime rib and lasagna for Christmas. I just saw her BIL the other day and that’s what they are having this year too. In fact, I’m making a pan of lasagna to take to Christmas dinner at our friends house. And thank you for the meatball tip as well.

We had a busy weekend. Worked on stuff for the Christmas including baking and gift wrapping. Marty had his Christmas party for his gym clients.

Sadly about half of the rings I had sized need tweaked a bit. They won’t - or barely - go over my knuckle. Even worse, one of them is my new peach sapphire ring. Plus one of the prongs on it is sticking up a bit. Another trip to Denver. Grr. I’m not happy we have to go back. The day we went down there, I almost had Marty go to the other store because I’ve had issues with the “north” store and ring sizing.

Take care.
Marcy

@missy I hope Greg feels better soon. I’ve also been worried about my husband… His oxygen level on an oximeter is a little lower than it should be. I have to test my pulse..but it also records your oxygen level. Mine is always 99-100%..When I put it on my husband...it registers 95 at the highest..which is just at normal..but it has dipped to 93. He does wear a CPAP machine when he sleeps so I don’t know if it’s related. It just makes me so nervous..He doesn’t want me to talk about it..
@Austina I’m glad you’re both home safe and sound.
@canuk-gal I can’t take the kind of cold you’re getting. We went out with my son and family to see Christmas lights..You walk through winding paths lit up with beautiful displays of lights. It was 33 degrees ..I added a thermal top under my shirt..It was so cold. That kept me somewhat comfortable..but my toes and and hands were so frozen. It was painful. I was never so happy to get into a warm car.
How did your turkey come out?
My DIL offered to do Christmas Eve dinner. It will be at my house. They live in Virginia..so I will get whatever she needs to make dinner...but she will do it..I’m so excited..I have never had anyone make Christmas dinner other than me. When she offered..I immediately said yes..She’s the best..
@marcy Thank you..I have the meatballs and sauce already done. I froze it before I left. I just have to make the raviolis and put them on a cookie sheet to heat up on Christmas Day. I’ll do that on Friday. I have to make eighty-four raviolis so I need to do it ahead of time.
We are in Virginia now keeping an eye on our grandson who is off from school for Christmas break. We will return to Pennsylvania on Wednesday..They will arrive along with my mom and Chris on Saturday morning…
Hi to everyone else..XO

Good morning all! Running late so just sharing this for now. Can we say “life of Riley” lol

Hello lovelies

It's cold here!

You're going to be very busy @MamaBee, lucky for you your DIL is going to cook the Christmas Eve meal. Thanks for the welcome home, 5 weeks is way too long to be away, but you know, traveling those distances, you can't do it in any less time.

Awww, how sweet that Oliver and Gracie are grooming each other @missy. Do the other boys just keep to themselves so the pesky young 'uns don't bother them?

I don't think we've ever experienced such a big time difference before @marcy, it's really messing with our body clocks. We did sleep a little better last night, so hopefully we're gradually getting back on an even keel.

I don't know how you stand it @canuk-gal, I'd be wrapped up in a duvet by the fire, It was bone chillingly cold when we were in Churchill (seeing the polar bears) but I don't think it was down to -21! Our local bus driver was wearing shorts in sub zero temperatures, but we had on thermals and ski suits, hats, gloves, scarves, the whole 9 yards.

We've just been out to wrap up the palm as we're getting sub zero temperatures this week, and the pool people came to make sure there was no water in any of the pipes that could freeze. They couldn't plaster the pool while we were away as it was too wet, now it's too cold. It should warm up next week, so hopefully they'll be able to do it soon.

Hope you're all keeping well and warm

:wavey:

Hi NIRDI’s!

@MamaBee how fun to be spending time with your grandson. Is he excited for Christmas? Your raviolis sound delicious as well. I believe anything in the 90’s is considered fine on the oxygen levels. I have one of those too. That is awesome your DIL will cook dinner on Christmas Eve. That will be nice. I don’t plan on going out Wednesday night or Thursday. We could get wind chill down to -65. I am always cold.

@missy your kitties have a rough life.

@Austina that’s good you got some sleep. Hopefully the adjustment to local time doesn’t take very long. I hope your trees and pipes do okay with the expected freeze. That Polar Vortex is cutting deep in to the North American continent.

I only worked about 5 1/2 hours today - see I’m not working full time all the time. I did run to the grocery store at about 11 a.m. The store was nuts - you’d think Christmas was this weekend. And there wasn’t an egg to be found today either. Grr.

Marty had to do some maintenance on our outdoor Christmas decorations before heading to the gym. My animated Snoopy on a mailbox snapped off at the bottom of the pedestal. I don’t know what he used to stand it upright but so far it’s working. Then naturally the half of our lights that are plugged in on the roof quit working, I guess the nasty wind beat on it enough the plug was a loose. So far, they are working tonight.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy wonderful Wednesday!

@MamaBee oh no poor S...how is he doing now? And yes, Greg doesn't like to talk about his health either...men. LOL exhausting on an entirely different level. I mean he is stoic beyond words. I hope S is feeling better and his oxygen levels are good. Your decorations are gorgeous and what a wonderful DIL. So happy you will all be together for the holidays

@Austina Bobby often stays upstairs out of Oliver's way but Tommy tangles with him so we put Oliver in his playpen when Oliver is misbehaving. It's like having toddlers in the house honestly lol. Glad you are sleeping better. I experience bad jet lag whenever I cross times zones especially to Europe though I know Australia has got to be brutal re the big time difference. Hopefully within this week you will be 100% back to normal circadian rhythm wise

LOL @marcy yes they do...especially today because we are taking dear Tommy to see his Auntie in Long Island today for a check up. He does not enjoy these trips. And besides getting to see my sister neither do I. But I decided to go and keep my sweet DH company during the marathon trip
Go Marty yay for fixing the outdoor decorations woohoo...and I hear you on always being cold in this brutally cold weather. I have to remind myself winter hasn't even officially started sigh.

@bling_dream19 happy pre Christmas week woohoo...hope you are having a lovely week and have a peaceful joyous holiday

@Slickk we are getting a pretty strong storm here starting tomorrow...rain due to the mild temps but I am not sure how cold it is by you. Big temp drop this weekend though and I am not looking forward to that. My Chilblains is flaring which just has me SMH...I mean in 40s/50s F how can it be flaring and I dread the truly cold weather. How are you feeling?

@mrs-b hope you and Tim are feeling well and holiday prep is going smoothly

@canuk-gal how is your pre Christmas week going? I hope all is well and your weather is behaving...I cannot tolerate the cold. My chilblains is back and it isn't even cold here yet. Ridiculous. I am seeing my derm tomorrow because I need confirmation this is Chilblains. I mean who gets that in the USA in 40/50F weather??? When I first got it many years ago my derm was astounded and he said he never even personally saw a case in the USA before me. Leave it to me lol

@springerspaniel hope you are having a lovely pre holiday week and all is going according to plan. Stay warm and comfy cozy

Yesterday we went to my dentist and I had my 3 month cleaning and then we went hiking and then I had a call with my group of girls and we have a group name finally lol. N wanted a name and I came up with a number of choices and we were all in agreement on the choice. Haha very important business matters what can I say. Today we are heading to see my sister for a checkup for Tommy. It's going to be a long day. I hope you all stay warm and cozy and enjoy a wonderful Wednesday. Big hugs and much love

HI:

The brutal cold temps continue. And believe me NO likes or chooses this weather--what are we to do?? Even the usually mild Vancouver is cold and snowy!!! But if the prediction is to be believed--there is some relief in sight, starting this weekend. Frozen fingers crossed.

I made cabbage rolls today--and the savoy cabbage was poor. Not too happy about that so I salvaged what I could. 10 bucks for garbage. Oh well. At least the champagne I want is on sale!!!

Hope my last day of work tomorrow is good. Nice break until the New Year.

@MamaBee excellent to have help on the cooking front. I wish I could say the same.
@missy it will be nice to see your sister. Hope the Tomster is AOK.
@marcy I hope not to have too many empty shelves when I shop on Friday. I bought my butterball already (super small) and people were buying to the limit as they were on sale.
@Slickk enjoy your holiday break from work!!
@Austina hope your jet lag is waning. Are you cooking for Christmas Eve or Day?

We continue on our holiday movie watching. Enjoyed About Fate last night. I think the new Emily in Paris starts today. Silly stuff but I like the clothing and scenery.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I hope you had a wonderful Wednesday. I did chuckle at Tommy and Oliver are like having toddlers in the house. Bobby just stays out of it, but Tommy won’t back down. Too cute, but only sometimes. I hope Tommy got a good report card from your sister today. I am sure Greg appreciated you going with him on the long trip. Nice to see your sister as well. My Snoopy on the mailbox decoration was getting knocked over again but Marty must have really staked it down because it’s barely moving tonight in this brutal wind. Speaking of brutal wind and cold - winter is certainly living up to it’s harsh reputation today. Stay safe and warm there. Good luck at the dermatologist. Nice tree on the beach, is that yours? Cute deer and nice shot of the city and ocean.

@canuk-gal I hate to hear the cabbage was not very good for your cabbage rolls. I keep wasting money on strawberries and throw out more than I can eat. Glad you have some time off work for the holidays. Looks like Marty’s time off started today. He’s been on the couch since noon and didn’t even venture out (not that I blame him) to the gym tonight. He at least cooked supper for us. I am with you on choosing to live in these brutal climates. I was born in to and just wasn’t smart enough to leave. Our high today was 41 and now it’s -14 with a feels like -45. Ugh. I hope the shelves aren’t empty for you Friday. We watched another Christmas movie tonight as well. Now Marty has on the Matrix.

I did busy work today but once Marty started watching TV in the living room, I quit. I can’t concentrate when I am kind of listening to TV. I walked over to get the mail at about 2 and it wasn’t here yet. When it did show up, I sent Marty to get it. He put on a coat but still had shorts on.

A snow squall moved in about 3:30 this afternoon and it’s been blowing snow since. I’d say the state is closed. Glad I don’t have anywhere to go tomorrow.

Take care and stay safe.
Marcy

Good morning girls and happy terrific Thursday!
Greg finally put up our tree and now it probably won't come down til summer lol

@marcy oh stay warm looks quite cold by you...brrrrr. It's going to be freezing by us this weekend so I am planning on staying indoors as much as I can..it might be a good time to go through my clothes but we shall see. I have to be in the mood haha. Thanks for the good wishes for Tommy. I am a bit concerned as she took a urine sample (not easy to extract from him) and it was pink which is not good. She gave him an antibiotic shot even though the culture won't be back til next week after Tuesday most likely just in case since we are almost 3 hours away from her office. And she did blood work and also gave him IV fluids. She also cut his nails for us. They grow so fast. We think he's at least 15 years old and he is slowing down so yeah I worry. He is such a good boy. Seriously the sweetest kitty. It was great seeing my sister and she LOVES the earrings I gave her so happy about that

Aww those bears look comfy cozy and LOL that bear and killer rabbit...reminds me of Oliver and Tommy haha
Stay warm Marcy. ((((Hugs))))

@canuk-gal thank you for the well wishes for Tommy. His urine is being cultured because it looked very funky so a bit worried about that and we wont get those results til after Christmas but we will get blood results today probably. Watching movies is the perfect thing to do in this weather for sure. Thanks for those recs. We finished Miracle on 34th street with Natalie Wood and it was really lovely. I especially love how people spoke back then...articulate and well spoken with such a different accent. Much better than people speak now IMO. Stay warm and cozy...we are getting freezing weather in here by tomorrow afternoon into the weekend. Too cold for sure. (((Hugs)))

@Slickk almost the holidays! I am guessing you will be off between Christmas and New Year's and I hope you have a wonderful time with loved ones and get to relax as well as enjoy. Big hugs

@bling_dream19 have a wonderful holiday with your family and sending lots of love your way

@MamaBee I hope you get to rest a bit and enjoy the holidays with family and that everyone has a wonderful time...XOXO

@Austina I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday and get to spend it with your son and DIL and grandchild. Big hugs

Hi everyone else. We saw my sister yesterday and we are waiting for results. Tommy might have something going on and we are hoping it is nothing serious. My sister loved the earrings so yay about that. Today I am seeing my derm to see if I do have chilblains (unreal) and then we probably are just running errands because the weather is becoming stormy this morning. It's going to be a rough ride weather wise for the next few days at least. Temps dropping to teens and thunderstorms the next two days. My favorite...NOT. Just hoping we all stay safe and warm with the power on...that is what I wish for all of you too. Enjoy and be warm and cozy this winter season. Much love and big hugs

Leaving you with a few photos of my family during Hanukkah this past weekend.

Hello lovelies

Oh my goodness, your nieces are such lovely young ladies @missy , I bet your sister can't quite believe how grown up they are. Everything crossed that it's nothing serious with Tommy, but it's always such a worry as they age. Lovely photos of your family, so glad to see your Mum and Dad doing well. I hope the derm appt goes well, oy, chilblains will be the last thing you need.

Pretty arctic here ATM @marcy, we've just been out to drain the water that's accumulated in the pool, it's freezing here, literarlly. It's colder than the UK :o We've got severe weather warnings in place, so we've filled the bath in case we need water, drained the sprinkler system, and Colin's wrapped all the outside taps. We didn't have to do any of these things in England  Stay safe and warm indoors.

Batten down the hatches @canuk-gal and stay warm and safe inside. Have you ever thought of moving somewhere warmer, like Texas ?

We're a bit more awake today, we went out for an early anniversary lunch yesterday as we thought tomorrow would be pretty busy, and we knew the weather was set to get worse. Glad we did, because I don't think we're going to be leaving the house anytime soon.

Our powerwall is fully charged, so if the power goes off we should be OK for a while the clever thing charged itself in anticipation of the freeze. :D

We're all stocked up with food, so should be fine.

Keep safe and warm lovely NIRDIS. :wavey:

@missy Your nieces look so much older! I remember photos of them when they were a few years younger. It’s such a big difference..Your sister is so pretty. What can I say about your parents. I want to adopt them. They are always smiling. :kiss2:
I hope you don’t have chilblains..:(2
I‘m so worried about losing power tomorrow. I have two fridges full of food..My family is coming Saturday..Christmas Eve..The temp is supposed to be 7 degrees with a windchill below zero! If my power goes out..and I have a strong feeling it will..we will have to head over to my other house in Maryland with all the food. I spent almost $700 today..not counting the food I already purchased which is now in my freezer. Since we will eventually sell this house we don’t want to get a generator. We should have done it when we moved in. I wanted to get a hotel nearby that has a fridge with a freezer.. S said he didn’t want to do that. He would rather drive to Maryland on icy roads..:evil2: I’m not happy..
I hope Tommy’s results come back okay..Actually maybe you want it to be an infection which the antibiotic will clear up. I just want your fella to be okay..

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy love the pictures of your lovely family. Your nieces sure are growing up. I hope Tommy's tests come back okay and if he has something going on that it's an easy fix. Big hugs to Tommy. I hope your dermatologist appointment went well. I need to make an appointment with one and a thyroid specialist but will wait until next year. I'm a procrastinator. Stay warm this weekend. Glad your sister loves her earrings.

@Austina I hear it's cold your way too. Sounds like you are prepared as well as you can be for the freeze and if you lose power. What is a powerwall? I am intrigued.

@MamaBee I hope your power stays on. If you leave the frig and freezer closed they will stay pretty cold in side for quite a while. We used to lose power here a lot when I was a kid - like AGES ago though. Good luck. I have my two honey baked hams thawing in my refrigerator. We don't have a generator here either.

It was quite frigid when I got up this morning. The house was groaning, creaking and cracking more than I was. Ha Ha. Marty's gym hours on Thursday start in the mid-afternoon. No one showed up so he came home and picked me up and we went out to eat. I picked Olive Garden and my stomach grumbled after eating too much and that rich of food, but alka seltzer fixed me up. I was going to suggest running to Bed, Bath and Beyond after we ate but quickly decided it was too cold to do that. Maybe tomorrow when our temps are at least on the plus size of 0.

I planned on getting my Christmas dishes out tonight but Marty wanted to watch some episodes of the new Jack Ryan series. Someone gave us a faux fireplace that is a heater so Marty cranked it on in the mancave and I took my favorite serious blanket down with me and enjoyed the fake fire while watching TV. It kind of made the mancave a bit warmer.

Take care.

Good morning girls and happy FriYAY and merry Christmas eve eve!!

The tree is up as I wrote the other day and I keep forgetting to get a good pic but here is one I took when it first went up. We still have to put up the star and keep in mind we are still organizing and cleaning but the house is looking so much better already. Greg is doing a fantastic job.

@MamaBee I am keeping my fingers crossed none of us lose power. I will NEVER ever not have a generator due to the fact we lose power at least half a dozen times a year even if only for a short time. Because you never know how long it will be to get it back. But, and this is important, you are moving soon so I agree with not installing one now. They are very expensive and while the best investment we have made in the house I would not put one in if we were planning to move soon. Anyway hoping your power stays on and at least you do have another house you can flee to. LOL I keep Brooklyn as the back up

Yes I have chilblains. I correctly diagnosed myself but I did have it many years ago and just needed confirmation. I am waiting it out and not applying what he prescribed (topical steroid) and he understands why. He did also prescribe Protopic to put on it (I have lots of that in the house) but that won't change how fast it heals. It's sort of a placebo IMO because truly the only treatment is a vasodilator which I wouldn't consider unless it starts affecting more fingers and/or toes.

My nieces are getting older so fast. Reminds me of the song "Sunrise, Sunset"...
Especially the first paragraph. I don't remember growing older but when I look at them I know I have. Too fast. All too fast.

"

Is this the little girl I carried
Is this the little boy at play?

I don't remember growing older
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laiden with happiness and tears
What words of wisdom can I give them
How can I help to ease their way?
Now they must learn from one another
Day by day
They look so natural together
Just like two newlyweds should be
Is there a canopy in store for me?
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laiden with happiness and tears

Wishing you a very happy Christmas Eve and Christmas Joanne with your lovely family. May the holiday be filled joy and peace and lots of love

@Austina Happy Anniversary!!! I am glad you are feeling rested and well. It was a long distance you traveled and it definitely takes a temporary toll. Thank you so much for your kind wishes for sweet Tommy and my family. My nieces are growing so fast. Time truly flies. I shared (above) one of my favorite pieces to play on the piano. This song comes to mind when I see how fast time goes and my nieces are the yardstick.

@marcy thank you for your kind words about Tommy and my family. I hear you on procrastinating. I know it seems like I am not a procrastinator when it comes to scheduling appointments but yes I am. I need to see my gastro and have put it off. I also know I need a colonoscopy and keep putting that off. Much to Greg's chagrin. And so on and so forth. I hope you can successfully schedule all your appointments and they all go very well. It is scary seeing healthcare providers and I never look forward to it. But who does.

Your gift of a faux fireplace that is a heater sounds like the perfect gift. LOVE it. I love heat in the winter and I know you need it desperately. Wyoming doesn't fool around with winter that is for sure. I adore your decorations Marcy. And haha those bears are hysterical and who could blame them if a gift or two get opened before the holidays hahaha.

@bling_dream19 happy holidays sweet friend! I hope you have the best time

@Slickk merry Christmas!!! I hope it lives up to all you want it to be

@canuk-gal hope work is going smoothly and that you enjoy a wonderful holiday with loved ones and are keeping warm and cozy

@springerspaniel aww thank you. I love my family so much. I worry because my parents are getting quite old and frail and I feel like we are on borrowed time. I am morbid like that but I cherish every moment they are here and pray they are with us for a long time to come. My dad is 88 and my mom 80 and she never expected to make 80 as all the women in our family die youngish. So it was a milestone of sorts. And my parents are still as much in love as ever. It really warms my heart to see. My dad buys my mom flowers for no reason still. The only issue is they are attached at the hip and I do not know how one will survive without the other. Sorry, back to happy holidays. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and can celebrate with loved ones and you are doing well in all aspects.

Flowers he just got for my mom the other day. No reason.

Hi everyone else. We had a fruitful day yesterday. Got my chilblains diagnosis and I also asked my derm about my hair and he thinks I have female pattern hair loss which is overall thinning that is genetic in cause. He wanted to prescribe spirolactone and oral minoxidil but I declined the spiro and said OK to the minoxidil. I will be cutting the pill in half and taking it very slowly. I am concerned it can affect my liver and interact with my other meds so not sure if this is the best choice for me but I can try it and see how it goes. I mean I have been dealing with this since at least 2017 and I feel it might be irreversible now. But he thinks it can fill in nicely. Just not sure how far I am willing to go for my hair vs overall health if you kwim. This experience has taught me how not vain I truly am. Greg says I am the least vain person he knows and I think he is close to the truth there. When I was younger I was more vain for sure. But with age has come perspective and some wisdom I guess :)

@Austina I hope you don't mind me sharing this photo...your beautiful OEC is in this pic but I used it to show my derm the density of my hair in 2017

Such a dramatic change. But I feel oddly at peace with it. I still have not worn any of my wigs. I hope one day I will feel comfortable wearing them if I want to...

I like bangs so maybe I can cut bangs on my other wigs. I have one with bangs already.

And when we got back yesterday we continued organizing and cleaning and so far it is going well. I haven't gotten to my clothing yet. That might be a project for January. And the cats are (so far) not interested in the tree at all. LOL I was hoping to get a cat in tree photo but it is looking like the kitties are already bored with the tree. Maybe because we kept it up through the spring and summer this year haha

Have a fantastic FriYAY girls. And the most wonderful holidays. Sending my love and warm hugs to each and every one of my dear friends here.

Hello lovelies

I knew it was cold yesterday, but it wasn't until I checked the weather app that I found out it was -7 :-o Fortunately, our spray foam insulation seems to have done its job, as all the toilets and taps were working this morning. Some of our neighbours who have homes built by the other builder have had frozen pipes and other issues.

Of course I don't mind @missy, it's lovely to see Bea/Bella from a perspective I don't usually see. I'm sorry you have chilblains, this awful cold weather has a lot to answer for. Your tree looks lovely, I just didn't bother this year, it was too early before we left, and too late now. Thank you for the anniversary wishes, 44 years, how did that happen?

I think I've mentioned that I've had quite a loss of hair loss this year, and I've been using this stuff https://kerotin.com for several months, and it's definitely reduced my hair loss. When my friend did my hair, she said she could see quite a lot of new growth, so maybe worth a try?

When we had the solar installed @marcy, we also opted to have a Tesla back up battery. The power wall stores excess electricity before sending any unused back to the grid, but as it's connected to the internet, it got the notification of the severe weather warning, so topped itself up incase of a power outage. Stay safe and warm, I know your weather is a lot more brutal than ours.

Everything crossed you didn't get a blackout @MamaBee, as Marcy says, if it's that cold, your fridge and freezer should be fine for a few days. I'm sure you're crazy busy with all your Christmas prep, have fun.

I hope you're not working over Christmas @canuk-gal so that you can enjoy some well deserved time off.

To all the lovely NIRDIs, I hope life isn't too hectic at the moment with all the Christmas preparations going on. Stay safe and warm.

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Warmed up to a balmy -19C today!! LOL. It snowed this AM. Went to Safeway and there was NO celery! Lots of unhappy campers! I had to go to another store--and the roads were horrific/icy. Very treacherous . And I have 4 wheel drive and winter tires. I was happy to get home in one piece and the traffic was bumper to bumper.

Sorry to hear that folks are without power. That doesn't happen very often here, thank goodness. But there were reports of lots of frozen pipes--not uncommon in our deep freeze temps, unfortunately.

@missy your nieces are such sweet young ladies! And growing up!!! Sorry about your diagnosis. Stay warm and well. Which earrings to you have in your rotation these days?? I try to have something different each day, even if I am at home. Today was my big rose gold hoops. I love hoops!!!

@Austina I don't return to work until the New Year. And the weather has been haywire everywhere. Everyone I know who has travelled this Christmas has had nothing but weather trouble/nightmares. Glad your pipes didn't freeze.

@marcy I hope you take a work break over the holiday season. I'm getting to the point where I believe working is over rated!!!

We continue to watch Christmas movies...can't wait to watch Die Hard!! :lol-2:

cheers--Sharon

I got up early and decided the sunrise looked promising for a great photo so I read actually watched and waited for 45 minutes to see that. I got some decent photos but not great photos. Then I showered, got dressed and went to get fruit out of the refrigerator for breakfast and found a sticky mess. The two whole honey baked hams - both wrapped in foil and in a plastic bag - had thawed alright and leaked all over the refrigerator. GRR!!! What a mess. Naturally, they were on the top shelf of the refrigerator so it dripped down on everything else. Once I opened the door it ran out the door and on the floor. My shoes got sticky, the floor got sticky. I got the shelves out and washed them. Wiped down things that got dripped on in the frig and then had to use wooden floor cleaner on the floor and wipe off the bottom of my shoes. What a process.

Since I had to clean up the hams - they are bonelss whole hams and sliced - so I put them in four 9x13 tin pans and ready to heat up for tomorrow. I guess if only four of us are eating, I'll be freezing a lot of ham tomorrow.

At least it won't take me long to get out four settings of Christmas china and glassware. And far less dishes.

Marty just headed to the gym and I bet no one shows up tonight. He'll be back soon.

Have a Merry Christmas!
Marcy

Wishing all of my sweet friends a very merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year. May there be lots of love, joy and peace today, tomorrow and always. Much love to each one of you

Happy Christmas Eve lovelies

Another cold day today, currently -2 so not as cold as yesterday, and we’re actually going to get up to 3 degs later! The brutal temperatures are set to change on Wednesday, when it should be near normal again.

Spent yesterday getting things prepped for tomorrow, and keeping warm. More of the same today.

Love the kitty pics @missy, and of course, beautiful Bubbalah :kiss2:

Glad you’ve got time off @canuk-gal, you deserve it.

Oh no @marcy, what a mess. Yum to ham, we have it cold on boxing day with bubble and squeak!

Going to be a quiet day for us tomorrow, we weren’t seeing Adam, but now he has covid, so they won’t be seeing anyone.

Stay safe and warm.

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!! Happy Christmas Eve.

Feeling happy and sad, first Christmas without Mom. We'll carry on with our tradition as if she were here; have ordered takeout from our favorite steak house (we used to go all together in person...) My Dh bought a Santa had, and is wearing it! Yikes! :lol-2:

@Austina sorry to hear about Covid in your family. Hope his case is mild and short lived.
@missy I have my fancy sapphire earrings on. With my joggers!

Keep well and safe folks. It is warming up here--thank goodness!

cheers--Sharon
