Haha @canuk-gal I can understand why you might not want your dh to see this. I love the new size because I can see it better. My eyesight is a bit compromised so this is the perfect (for now) solution. Plus it's so pretty lol. Speaking of pretty SWOON! your gorgeous "yellow sparkler" haha understatement of the year.

Wow to cold warnings. That is too cold for me. We went cycling yesterday and while the temps said 45 (and sunny with low wind) I was pretty cold. I wore my electric vest and socks and they helped. But now my body is rebelling as happens this time of year. And my eczema is out of control. OMG. You should have seen my legs yesterday after cycling. I showed Greg and even he was shocked. I think it's eczema and it went away after a few hours but when it happens it's so uncomfortable and itchy and painful. I really hate these weird reactions my body has and I think ultimately we will relocate to a milder climate. I cannot handle temps that are cold or hot. Pathetic and I am not sure where we will go but Greg is onboard with helping me and he can see it's not OK. But then I leave all my doctors and not sure I want to start over. For all the help (not) they have given me lol. Just thinking out loud. At this point I am taking it one day at a time and not ready to move. Where would we go is the question. California is out so maybe Washington State somewhere it is mild. Have a great weekend sweet Sharon and thanks for listening. Big hugs

Hi to everyone else. Hope all my friends are doing well and enjoying a beautiful holiday season. We cycled yesterday and it was cold but doable and glad we went while we can. Today is raining so not sure what we are doing. At least it is very mild today I think. In the high 50s. Not bad. I could never live in a harsher climate like Illinois or (sorry @marcy) Wyoming. Oh no. My people were not built for that kind of weather

She sauntered over (all on her own terms) let me pet her for a minute and then walked away. LOL she has so much Catittude. She gives Gracie a run for her money

Good morning! I’m trying to be chipper but I’m sick with a bad cold. I’m going to send S out to find Binax Covid tests. I don’t trust the other ones..I’ve been sneezing even during sleep so assumed it was just a cold..I read that one of the main symptoms of the newer Omicron variants is sneezing..ugh I have no idea how I could get it other than the doctor’s office and the Orthodontist..I guess that’s my answer.. I hope it’s just a cold..

@missy I loved your photos of the deer. We have a lot here but they don’t let you get too close. We put our pumpkins in the back yard near the tree line..but they didn’t touch them yet.
That’s amazing you are still cycling in this cold weather! I also have eczema brought on by the cold. My hands crack and bleed...My lips are all peeling..My legs are dry like sandpaper. I put tons of lotion on but it’s really cosmetic. It does nothing to protect them from being so parched.
Your new tv looks nice! We have a 75”? downstairs for David. It’s his space to watch his movies. He likes to watch the same ones over and over. I think he just likes the peace and quiet downstairs. We have our Children’s tree down there..along with Christmas decorations. He’s a happy camper because he LOVES Christmas everything..
Chris and Smokey love each other. It’s the sweetest. Smokey is only five months old. He saw a squirrel for the first time..Chris said he was crying at the window. He realized that since the rescue was in an industrial area..he never saw one before.. He’s only been exposed to humans and other cats.

@Austina That’s such good news that you’re negative! I‘m sure you’re relieved that Colin had a mild case of Covid. It’s so weird the way you can be exposed to it but not get it. You must have a super immune system!

@canuk-gal My husband decorates downstairs in the rec room for David. I do upstairs..the main floor. He sets up all my decorations by taking them out of the boxes. I put them out…and arrange them...Even though I was sick yesterday..I still continued decorating because he gets crazy about getting it all done. He loves when it’s finished. He will put the battery operated candles on and turn off the lights. He’s allergic to real candles…so it’s battery operated for us. I have real candles in the holders but I just don’t light them….
@marcy Thats horrible that the new camper’s stove got dented..and the countertop got chipped! That would make me so mad! Since they put the table on the bed..are they going to replace everything?
@mrs-b I hope you and Tim are feeling better today. Your Christmas trees are so pretty. I also love the rooms they’re in.. We finished our decorating yesterday. We added much more than we usually do..but we wanted them to appeal to a five and two year old…I added nine photos so I hope they take..lol
I LOVE your scarf! I love whimsy..It’s a gorgeous scarf..without being stuffy! The pastel colors are my favorite!

Hi @missy --what you describe could also be cold-induced urticaria, especially if it itches. You might try a prophylactic anti-histamine next time to see if it helps at all.

We are winding down our trip--been hiking most days and we got to see the Aurora Australis the other night in Bluff NZ. The days are going by way too fast! I hope @mrs-b and Tim are feeling better, and that @MamaBee is also recovering. I miss you all!!!

I was all over town today with--lots of errands. Fully masked of course. I stopped at Goodwill to leave some donations and I really need to make more. I'd love to do a major clean out but my husband thinks all those things in storage are things we REALLY need. I should strike a bargain with him, he can have his big screen TV (we already have 3) and I get to donate all that stuff in storage!!!

I’m so sorry you’re ill @MamaBee, if it’s any consolation Colin’s initial symptoms were a sore throat followed by coughing. As soon as he told the medical centre sore throat, they arrived in full hazmat gear and escorted him to be tested. Hopefully it is a cold and nothing more. Your decorations are amazing! Smokey is just gorgeous.

Poor you @missy, your reaction to the cold sounds horrendous, I hope it’s what Springer suggested and nothing worse. We get back home on the 18th.

We had a great trip in Busselton yesterday, saw underwater wildlife and lots of Kangas and their babies. Couple of sea days now until we reach Kangaroo Island.

Heard today that the baggage handlers are on strike when we get back, so who knows what’ll happen.

@springerspaniel awww thank you for sharing your thoughts. I ordered an antihistamine from Amazon and it will be arriving tonight. Thank you so much. Fingers crossed that is what it is...I was so worried it was an eczema flare and for me those are just truly horrible so I am holding out hope it is cold induced urticaria. That would make sense since I do suffer from chronic and acute urticaria and compared to my eczema it's very manageable. Thank you! (Of course you might be wondering why we do not have an anti histamine in the house lol but I just deal with the urticaria when it happens and it goes away pretty quickly usually though occasionally they have lasted a few weeks). Hope your vacation is continuing to be so much fun and you are looking forward to the holidays. Big hugs

@canuk-gal oh your yellow diamond is spectacular and wow to the price increase. Yes you did very well and I know you will continue to enjoy and cherish your beautiful yellow masterpiece. I am swooning just thinking about it!

As for cleaning up/straightening up/organizing we started yesterday and have made headway though Greg got tired before I did which is surprising. But I feel so much better already for just having started and the place already looks better. I will not let it get to this point again. It's much easier to keep things organized than get them organized if you kwim and I just fell down on that job since we were dealing/ are dealing with so many other things. But having things neat and tidy makes a big difference in my mood and I suspect your mood too. But I really let things get in disarray and I am pretty sure you never got to that level LOL. I would be embarrassed to have company over but hopefully in a few weeks I can say cmon over. LOL

Hi everyone else. Hope all is well. We are going hiking today and it's not too bad out. Too cold to cycle but hopefully hiking will be nice. Yesterday it rained the entire day so we started organizing the house and getting rid of things we do not use. We are tackling downstairs first and when we are done with that I will start upstairs with all the clothes I do not wear. I have way too many things taking up space not being used and it is time to be ruthless and get rid of what I do not wear. The rule is if I haven't worn it in 5 years give it away. I know the rule is generally one year but honestly I have gone back and worn things from 10 years ago (truth lol) so I think 5 years is a good compromise. Greg came up with that number

I am actually playing retired today - I am not doing much of anything in spite of a long list of “I need to get that done” in my head. Ha!

@Austina glad to hear all is well and Colin is back with you.

@missy your arms are perfect length for you. I get called T-Rex a lot. It’s true we have a very narrow comfort range of temperatures. Telemedicine by zoom, what is the world coming to, in one way it’s convenient but seems like the money we pay doctors we should get in person visits. As for collecting that 24 hour sample, I totally get why that’s no fun. I hope you don’t have to repeat it. Like I told a friend of mine on if they want me to come back for that bone density test - make me. My defiance is showing. You have fun on your hike. Of course, I enjoyed the Snoopy December image. Nice new TV! You’ll get used to the huge size. Ours is 75” and at first I felt like I was in the front row of the theater. Those sucker are heavy at that size too. I am so sorry your eczema flared up so bad, that is miserable. Hope it eases up for you soon.As for Marty and the killer bunnies and bears - see picture below of some of the latest shenanigans around here. LOL to swapping for Oliver, I don’t think either of us would notice the difference. Sadly, I don’t think our winters are over for some time yet. Nice to be organizing things and you are correct it’s easier to keep it organized than get it there. A friend of mine actually enrolled in some course to do that.

@MamaBee have fun decorating. Smokey is a cutie. Your decorations look great. Marty didn’t ask them about fixing the damage from the table. Some lady cut across two lanes of traffic and but Marty off on the interstate coming back. Pickups with something towing behind them don’t exactly stop on a dime, she’s luck he was able to stop and not hit her, but we figure that’s when the table went flying. I hope you feel better soon.

@canuk-gal LOL for “your husband knows how to decorate for Christmas”. It sounds cold there too. I just am not ready for it again. I asked Marty totally about them delivering Marty’s trailer - their website clearly says it will deliver. I am so glad you are enjoying your ring. I wore my Tiffany band with my diamond ring once I got it back and it kind of bugged me at first with them clanging but after a while I didn’t notice it. I am not willing to give up wearing that band sometimes. Our weather is similar to yours, just a day or two later. I think the street out front will be a permanent ice skating rink for a few months. Good idea to swap another giant TV for donating things. Sounds like a fair trade to me. Oh no - don’t be crummy. Ha Ha.

@springerspaneil sounds like you are having a nice time and sweet to see the aurora.

I worked far too many hours this week. Yesterday, Marty took me to Denver to turn in my assortment of rings to be sized. That jewelry store runs things rather differently and we were there three hows but I got my rings turned in and upgraded one sapphire. Trade a round blue sapphire for an oval peach-pink sapphire. Since I used the same ring as the blue sapphire it was an easy trade. I’ll get all my rings hopefully later this week.

Then we went to the mall and got Marty a new Apple Watch. We then wandered the mall and headed north again stopping at our favorite steak house for a late lunch on the way home.

For a few weeks from Christmas both the jewelry store and mall were not really busy. I would say the mall was just normal and the jewelry store was not very busy for a Saturday. Traffic on the other hand, was awful. I was so glad Marty drove me down there. I can handle it okay, I just don’t like it.

I did do some laundry and lifting this morning. Took some pictures of our decorations and made a collage of them. Now, I’m hungry and waiting for Marty to get home so we can go eat. He’s over putting a backup camera on the trailer and his pickup. We had walkie talkies before so I could help him backup, but he threw them away. First, he made the mistake of telling me the little buzzing noise they make when your press them drive him crazy, so the 100 mile drive home in my car with him following me means I kept pressing the button. Then second, when I tried to help him back up I was not very competent at it so he does it himself. Now that he has a camera he won’t need help at all. Ha!

Hi all! Well it looks like it was just a cold. I did two Covid tests..both negative. The strange thing is..my nose was running like a faucet..sorry..haha..since the middle of the night on Thursday. Last night, at dinner time it just dried up! I was afraid to move but it just went away! This morning was the same. So strange..but I’ll take it.
@mrs-b Are you okay? How are you feeling?
@missy Oliver is so precious. I crack up every time you mention he has to go into his play pen. I’m surprised he can’t get out. Thank goodness he can’t. We‘re going over to Chris’ house tomorrow to visit with Smokey. I’m going to pick up my mom so she can visit with him too. I’m worried about taking her because of her B issues. It’s so funny..Smokey really likes me..He runs over to me and rolls on his back. He lets me scratch and pet him all over, but he doesn’t want my mom to touch him.…I told Chris that tomorrow I will stay back so maybe Smokey will let her pet him.
@bling_dream19 I can’t get over that ring..It’s so beautiful! I’ve been making myself chicken soup. I make a batch so it lasts four days or more. Its too light for the guys but I’m reducing calories..Soup really fills me up..I love it..so it’s a win..
@Austina I hope you are making up for lost time when Colin was sick..I’m happy his case was mild.
@canuk-gal Haha..I hate putting on duvets..I bought a Grinch one from Pottery Barn for David. David doesn’t like normal gifts for Christmas. He enjoys his bedding, movies, and pjs. His pjs are mostly grinch themed.. I hate duvets so much that I buy white comforters for myself..I just wash the whole comforter every time I change sheets..I don’t even put them in a duvet. I have a zillion of them. I sandwich them between the blanket and a top quilt. I like a heavy feeling of the blankets, comforter, and quilt. I wash everything with every sheet change. I’m weird..I know…
I want your snow! I can’t wait for our first snowfall!

@missy well since I’ve got a bit of that devil in me, I am glad to hear Oliver still has that ornery streak as well. As my mom always said about me “live is never dull when Marcy is around”. It’s those sweet moments with Oliver that matter. Poor Tommy though. Great pictures from your hike, it is so pretty there.

@canuk-gal glad you were able to stay in from the cold and snow today. We are getting the wind right now with snow moving in tonight. So far this winter keeps just giving us enough snow to keep things nasty. Good question about work and Christmas. Apparently we don’t put out anything new between Christmas and New Years, but I have to make sure to get all my night sky for January done before Christmas. I just finished December’s today. Other than Christmas Eve and day, I’d be okay if I have to do some work. Marty usually takes that week off though and while I know he teases me, I don’t think he appreciates me working on the days he has off. Yay for no crumbs. I’m with you on crumbs. And I am not pleased with glitter.

@MamaBee good deal you are feeling better. Cats are funny, they either like you or not. My sister has a cat that hated my dad for some reason. He’d disappear the minute my parents showed up. The same cat disappeared if young kids came in the house too. I am setting the new sapphire in that fat solitaire band. I did try it with a halo but it seemed to be a bit too much. The head I bought has little diamonds around the basket. If I decide I want a halo, I’ll probably move it to another ring. This will be the 3rd gem in that setting. I like it but seem to get sick of it quickly. I am excited about that color though.

I worked most of the day but did zip out to get groceries and later to pick up my bracelet they shortened for me at Kays. Snow is coming again tonight so I decided to get those things done now.

I bet he and Smokey would sniff the heck out of each other. It's so funny watching cats meet. I am not surprised Smokey loves you and probably just needs to get used to your mom. Cats are discerning and can take their time before they warm up to others they do not live with...as for Oliver escaping the playpen if Greg doesn't zip the top entirely he can get out. And believe me he keeps trying no matter what. He is not a quiet little kitty no no no. I hate when he cries and can understand why new mothers might want to strangle their babies...Just Kidding!!! Just omg the incessant crying when he wants out of the playpen. And believe me he only goes in there when he has behaved very very badly towards Tommy. I hate putting him in there. Just so you know he has all the creature comforts in the playpen...bed, water litter box and toys. He is not a tortured kitty I promise. We are the tortured ones

@springerspaniel I am convinced your diagnosis is correct despite yesterday having a flare again...because anti itch cream helped calm down what I now think are hives. Anyway I will continue the anti histamines and hopefully in time the reaction will lessen. It's the craziest reaction. How are the pups doing? I am sure they are missing you but I also know whoever you got to care for them is doing a great job. THat was, IMO, the hardest part of having a pet. When we used to travel that is. My parents got the honor of caring for our cats. But now, they are too old and our cats are too challenging re eating and meds since they have to be separated during meal time and med time. So we don't travel for now. It's OK but I do hope to resume one day. Hope you are continuing to enjoy a lovely trip

Hi everyone else. We had a good hike yesterday and I had a super long zoom call afterwards. Today Greg has a telemedicine and then we are running errands due to it will be raining all day. I woke up with a stiff neck/back...oh the joys of aging. I moved wrong in my sleep and BAM. So here I am with a heating pad as I post and hoping it resolves soon as I have too much to do today to be incapacitated. I wish you all a terrific Tuesday. Be well and enjoy. XOXO

It was a very serene beautiful hike yesterday and we ran into our friend and his pups. He was in his crazy contraption lol. We have a lot of characters here and we enjoy them very much. Good hearted souls.

@missy yes, we play the hand we're dealt. I honestly can't complain, but sometimes I still do. Sounds like lyrics from a song. I always keep in mind things could be worse - could be raining. Oh wait, that's another line but at least from a movie. At least you, Oliver and me keep things interesting. And that's a good thing. I wore my bracelet all day yesterday and today. I like solid gold pieces. Oh no to waking up with a stiff neck, I hope it is better tonight. That ocean looks COLD.

@canuk-gal I am with you on being done with winter. Who can we write and complain to about this? I'd be happy if this stupid wind would knock it off too. At least we have pretty rings to make us smile.

I slept in until 7:30 this morning and didn't have an insomnia attack after the two times I woke up last night. Yay! I stayed up until 11 p.m. last night because I'm wondering if I am tired because I am sleeping too much. So sleeping in later than normal ruined that experiment. I'll see if I am yawning before 9 p.m. tonight.

I worked eight hours today and then worked on Christmas cards. I ran over to Culver's and ate supper there, their flavor of the day was strawberry / chocolate so how could I pass that up?

@canuk-gal I am sorry your weather is freezing. We hit 61F yesterday but it was drizzly so no cycling. But yes I prefer warmer to colder and I feel your pain. I'm sending warmer temps your way and hope you get them soon! It's going to hit 60F here again today but more rain is predicted. I am sure our cold weather will be here before we know it but I will take these milder temps for as long as they last..big hugs

@marcy lol yes a country western song...and it is our right to complain or as I like to say vent. It is cathartic and helps IMO. Once I "vent" I feel much better. Usually. Nice you are getting Christmas cards done and OMG strawberry chocolate is a purrrfect combo. I love that mix. Solid gold bracelets are beautiful and I am glad you are wearing yours. Sweet you slept well. I woke at 2AM and put the heating pad on my shoulders and back and was able to fall asleep again. So there's that. Sleep is sweet. I am always dozing now at 7PM...I think I'm still on daylight savings time. My body does not like the change back and forth regarding time. An hour back, an hour forward, Let's just pick one time please lol. I asked Greg and the ocean temps here are in the 50s. Brrrrr...stay warm and big hugs

Hi everyone else. We ran errands yesterday and got a lot accomplished and the air was super mild and it only drizzled minimally. Today we are supposed to get heavier rain. We shall see. I love our new TV. It's so clear and bright and crisp. Greg got a new TIVO too lol. He hasn't had time to hook it up but I do indulge him with electronics. Though I admit I love TIVO so much. I remember Greg got me when it first came out and it was the best surprise. They were new at the time and I wasn't even sure what it was. Here we are over 20 years later and I love it just as much.

Leaving you with our kitties snuggling last night as we watched a movie. They love my blue blanket lol. Gracie and Tommy were both on me but I could only focus the phone on one at a time.
