Just a quick hello on this brisk chilly morning.
We enjoyed cycling yesterday despite the cold but not sure how much longer lol. Today we are heading out cycling and its even colder than yesterday. Not sure if I can cycle much longer so am enjoying it while I can

Hallo ladies! Gorgeous clear day here today, tho very crisp. We're getting in to the full swing of Christmas and already have all our lights up. I don't put up trees till after Thanksgiving, but we're getting close! We bought a new outdoors tree yesterday since it was on sale - $1500 - before tax! It's 12' high, tho, and should last for some years, so worth it in the end, I suppose. All the rest of our Christmas shopping is complete, so we're on track and well placed for all the festivities from now till end of year.

@missy - your photos, as always, brighten my life. And that cake...!!! I'm glad your new bike arrived, and I hope your health is holding together and that the medical profession, in general, is making progress in their (so far fairly pitiful) attempts to help you! Hugs to you, AG!

@MamaBee - I've been talking to Amy about turning Beloved into a 5 stone and she's been an incredibly good sport about it. I'm thinking of doing it in the first half of next year, but we'll see. I'm glad you've abandoned your plan to reset your EC three stone; I love that ring! For my money, it catches the eye more than any other of your rings, and I think removing its sides would change that. What can I tell you - I love a good ring! Will you be in PA for Christmas? Is family coming to you, or visa versa?

@canuk-gal - how is the weather where you are? Have you had snow as yet? We had a very light fall yesterday, but it didn't settle, thankfully. I'm assuming you're no longer cycling - what do you do for exercise when the cold sets in? I used to do lots and lots of online aerobics, but, sadly, no longer. I am increasingly becoming spherical.

@Austina - I hope you have a lovely vacation! I've never been to Singapore and have tended to avoid Asia in general - mostly to avoid the crowds. Are you finding it...squishy? Or, as I recall hearing more than once, is Singapore more open, cleaner and more pretty than a lot of Asia? And are you doing the markets there and having lots of things tailor-made? I know that all my friends, when they visited, had suits and dresses and LOTS of stuff made custom. And then it's on to Australia, or New Zealand before that? Either way, I hope you're having a nice time. And - as always - how goes the pool?

@springerspaniel - you're in New Zealand?? How did that pop up so quickly?! I was thinking of you today as I need to do my Christmas card list and need to go over my address list. Expect an email presently! And when do you get home? You REALLY deserve a break, and I hope this recharges the batteries for you. ox

@marcy - I read back a couple of pages before I posted and saw numerous mentions re you not having your results yet. Is this still your thyroid biopsy results we're talking about?? Surely not?!! Good grief - how are you holding up? Are you ok? I think of you often and I hope you're still enjoying your work and your photography. Are you cooking for Thanksgiving this year? I threw in the towel and we're going out to eat. Honestly, the older I get, the less I care, and the idea of hours and hours on my feet is...discouraging.

@bling_dream19 - I haven't heard from you in a while and hope all is well with you. Pretty sure a catch-up is in order, but I hesitate to call you out of the blue. Let me know if you have any updates to pass on - I think of you often and pray for you regularly.

@Slickk - I saw the photo you posted of Bear on the thread for bright&shiny and he just warmed my heart! That face is just so precious! Are you looking forward to your Thanksgiving break? And how long do you get over Christmas? In Australia, given that that's our summer, all schools have their long break over Christmas, and I have to say, it certainly makes Christmas even more festive! My sister is retiring this year, after a long and highly illustrious career in the school environment, and, while I suspect the rest will be nice, I just KNOW she's going to miss it and am wondering what she'll pick up to fill the void. Julie is not one to let her hands sit idle for long! And, if you don't mind and just to clarify - I know you work in the school system, but what do you do? Do you teach or is it admin? @junebug17 _ I couldn't find any recent posts from you, but I'm thinking of you and hoping all is well as you ramp up for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. I hope your family is well and that all is right in your world. Will you be at home for Christmas, or out at the beach?

As for me - Eleanor and Nathaniel arrive next Wednesday for 5 days and I am SO looking forward to it! We're eating out at The Atlantic Fish Company in Boston central for Thanksgiving dinner, then the next day we'll start putting up all our Christmas decorations. It takes about 2-3 days but we don't go at it too hard and by the time they leave, it will all be done. And I'm ready for it, too! I'm planning to start wrapping this weekend so, when the trees go up, I have things ready to go under! Just my absolute favorite time of year.

And I have those Grinch Christmas mugs on hold for me at WS! I'll get them tomorrow!! I've been on a bit of a spending spree...something may be coming...

@mrs-b nice to have company coming!!! We have a lot of snow. More than usual so I am not happy. Winter started way too early here and it is predicted to be long and cold. So far it is true!

Hi NIRDI’s!

First, great news! My doctor called a little while ago and that mass is benign, no signs of anything. He said we should just watch it and if I get concerning symptoms we do something about it. I can put up with getting a little hoarse and having a slight sore throat over the surgeries and adjusting to thyroid meds, etc. I am quite relieved. Thank you for your support and thinking of me.

@missy I should look in to a heated vest. Yesterday I had on a very heave sweater I ordered from L.L. Bean. It kept me so warm, I think I need to wear it every day. Glad you are still getting out even in the cold. Glad you had a decent night sleep earlier this week and hope you get more of them. I slept great last night for a change. Sorry you are dealing with uncertainty on the medical front. It sucks and big hugs to you. I love all of your pretty pictures.

@canuk-gal I have been eyeing those Peanuts tumblers. Pottery Barn has quite a few Peanuts things as well. I love them all. I think we are both under the same weather system - it looked pretty big before it came on land. Seems a bit chilly for mid-November here too. We got about 5-6 inches. How much did you get? Those Grinch mugs at WS are awesome. Glad you are getting them.

@Austina hot and muggy is 180 degrees opposite our Wyoming weather. Oh no on the UTI, glad you got something for it and hope you are doing better. Sounds like the trip went smoothly and hope you have a great time.

@mrs-b I love to hear you have your Christmas lights up already. Maybe Marty will get ours up next weekend. Our inside tree is in the den (aka my office now) so I can enjoy the tree more that way. That is great you’ve got your Christmas almost done, I am usually done by now but haven’t done much of anything yet. Yep, been to self-focused on me but hopefully now I can work on Christmas. Yes, the holdup was on my thyroid test results - turned out to be paperwork the doctor had to fill out and I had to sign which the doctor’s office completely missed or ignored. Glad to get results finally. Thanks for thinking of me. I get your on not wanting to cook and do all the work anymore. We are going to buffet with friends and not cooking. Yay. How are you doing and feeling?

Wednesday night was lacking sleep but we both got up at 4 am to get Marty off to the local airport. It was sideways snowing and blowing with several inches on the road already. Marty drove to the airport, but I drove home. With my “evil” bad eye and being old it was not fun driving home without being able to see the road, but luckily no “Curby” incident occurred.

As luck would have it, our first astronomy club meeting in over two years was last night but it’s only one block from our house, so no problems getting there and back. About eight people showed, I was surprised. If I wasn’t giving the program, I would have stayed home.
I didn’t venture to Colorado today to turn in rings to be sized but the friend that was riding down with me came over here and we played cards and ordered in lunch.

I did some work this afternoon and as mentioned above was relieved to get the call from my doctor. I bet my BP has improved already. Not that I don’t have other health issues, but glad to hear the mass is benign.

I teach 7th grade special education students. Math and Science these past several years. Congratulations to your sister who is retiring. I imagine she’ll miss it, but she’s given of herself and now it’s her time!! I’m getting closer to that and keenly look forward to it. It’s demanding work and I’m getting tired. Enjoy your visit with Eleanor and Nathaniel and Thanksgiving dinner out! We are eating out too! Yay!!

It’s wet! Not ventured outside, but I imagine it’s still warm. We’re waiting for it to subside before heading out for the day.

Wonderful news @marcy, we can all heave a collective sigh of relief, but I’m annoyed on your behalf that it’s taken so long for them to let you know. Oh no, your weather sounds absolutely treacherous, so glad you got back safely from the airport. Stay safe and warm until the white stuff goes away.

We left the pool just waiting for them to plaster @mrs-b, but I think we’ve had a fair bit of rain at home, so assume they’re waiting for a few good days before doing that. Then they’ll fill it and the last thing will be the koolcrete on the deck and back patio. The last thing I need is more clothes, so whilst it would be tempting, I just don’t have the need or the capacity for any more. Being a demon packer, I’ve managed to get 5 weeks worth of clothes in to 2 suitcases, and what with all the goodies we’ve picked up on the plane, they’re just about going to close to get home again! Singapore is very clean and I wouldn’t say particularly squishy, so yes, not typically Asian in that regard.

Sorry to hear you’re having AI issues @Slickk, it can’t be any fun dealing with that. Give the little Bear a big kiss from me, how I miss having a doggie.

Glad you managed to get out and ride @missy, but oh no to the cold. I can well understand why you don’t want to ride in that.

We went to the Gardens by the bay yesterday, and spent most of the day there. It’s absolutely beautiful and so well laid out. Unfortunately my UTI was giving me a few issues, mainly due to dehydration I think, but things feel a lot better today. We’re not sleeping much, we’re 14 hours out of whack, so waking at 3.30am and that’s it.



Planning on visiting Little India and Chinatown, then stopping off at a museum and then the hotel where you get a panoramic view of Singapore (can’t remember the name, total brain fog due to lack of sleep!)

I got some bad news healthwise but like we always say...one day at a time and when that is overwhelming one hour at a time. I made an appointment with a new specialist at HSS February 27th so a few months away. It was the soonest appointment I could get so I took it. And my dear friend with whom I do zoom calls called her specialist and he hopefully will agree to see me and give me his thoughts. All my doctors are stumped and I am a bit scared but taking it all one day at a time. All this to say dear friend I understand and I am here for you off-line or on. Don’t forget to visit the Raffles Hotel- home of the original Singapore Sling. Pricey but the Hotel is beautiful. The Hawkers food courts are really interesting too. There are a lot of custom tailors on Orchard Street. Prices and quality vary but we had good luck as visiting Hong Kong for custom tailors is now a bit difficult.

I have been successful in avoiding cooking--getting take out, eating out....but I'll make Sunday supper tomorrow. I'm getting lazier and lazier...... My dear friend ordered some gorgeous tea for me, when I enjoyed it out IRL with her. Very sweet gesture--DH and I are enjoying every drop! Enjoying the bright blue sky and white Rockies. At least 4c and no wind. Yay!

My Crohn's started flaring about 10/11 days ago. Have tried increasing my steroids (an approach I HATE but which is unavoidable), and it just didn't take. After a day yesterday of throwing up and stuck in the bathroom and unable to keep even fluids down, this morning I'm heading off to the ER, hoping for some help. I'm guessing it's an infection at this point, as well as a big inflammation. I'm white as a sheet and shaky like a sheet of paper in high wind. Sooo light headed.

Hoping we can get this under control by Thanksgiving. Prayers and all warm thoughts appreciated.

No bleeding nothing but I had started bleeding which is why I started the forced shed. Does nothing about me make sense. SMH. Hi everyone else. Yesterday was great once I got going and it was filled with lots of animals and fun. Today is very very cold so it's another hiking day but it's the coldest day yet since last March. Have a marvelous Monday all and stay warm. Lots of love and hugs. I am leaving you with lots of pics. And no day is complete without kitties. This is Esther. One of the farm kitties. She is so sweet. She ran to me from the middle of this field and we had a big purr petting session. She's a love



The horses are so sweet too. OMG. I love horses



And this is one of the other barn kitties. I do not know her name. She is one year old and has siblings who live here with her. She was enjoying the warmth of the sun on this cooooool day



And the pigs are the best. OMG so smart and beautiful.



And our other friend, who works here, (dream job) feeding the cows

Glorious weather day--9c not a breath of wind and bright blue sky!! Had a busy day but fit in a walk by the water. I think we could have ridden our bikes! Roads are icy but the paths, clear.

@missy which new CG coat did you get? I adore my long parka--and it keep me so cozy. Don't regret that $$$ at all. My DS coat is many years old and looks brand new!!! Those animals are adorable and that barn cat looks so cute (and well fed)!!!

@mrs-b and @Slickk hope you sweeties are on the mend! Healing vibes across the miles and hope you will enjoy Thanksgiving.

@marcy do you still send out Christmas cards? I have a few, but the list gets smaller and smaller each year. I checked my stash to see if I had any left over from last year!

I'm good...I was in South Carolina for several weeks. My niece and her husband visited and it was great to see them. Weather was warm so we were able to hit the beach and pool. Also spent time with my sister - we did a fair amount of shopping lol! Back in NJ now and getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Thanks @lambskin we have been to Raffles before for afternoon tea so didn’t do it this trip. I honestly can’t squeeze another thing in my case, so no shopping for me.

We passed by all the expensive jewellery stores @Slickk but didn’t go in

@Slickk sorry to hear about your AI flare up, sometimes dealing with things one hour at a time is the best way; little pieces are easier to handle. Hope you are doing better. We’ve have snow three times now - each time about 5-6 inches. There have been a few dustings as well. More wind than anything, but that’s not unusual. Buffalo sure got dumped on. Thank you for the kind words on my pictures.

@junebug17 thank you for sharing in my relief. It was ridiculous how long I waited to get results. Nice you’ll be having a low key Thanksgiving. We are too. Shopping and a warm beach sound great. That’s the good life.

@Austina glad your trip is going well. Our white stuff is mostly melted by today. It took a while though. Beautiful pictures of the gardens. Such vibrant colors. That showed some strength passing by the jewelry stores. I wonder if things are cheaper or more expensive there. Marty got me quite a few pearls when he was in Hong Kong. He also got me some loose opals which I have never put in anything. The weather has improved a bit but forecast indicates it won’t last.

@missy thanks for being excited for me. I was first relieved, then excited and then almost started crying tears of joy. Sorry you got some bad health news, mega dust for the new specialist and getting things resolved / improved. Facing things one day or hour at a time is the best we can do. Big hugs to you. Love your pictures as always. Sorry you are having such cold weather, I didn’t send it your way. I swear.

@canuk-gal darn WS didn’t have a variety of the Grinch mug, I like variety on mugs too. Nice to be avoiding cooking and dishes. Marty has been gone for five days and I sure took advantage of less cooking and dishes. Your beautiful blue skies sound lovely. Yes, I do still send out Christmas cards. I write a poem every year as my Christmas form letter. I haven’t even thought about starting that yet either. We don’t get many cards anymore either. I think it is becoming a rarity.

@mrs-b I am so sorry to hear your Crohn’s disease flared up and you got so sick. Hoping the ER was able to help you and you are doing better today. Big hugs to you.

@MamaBee hope you are doing well.

@Calliecake thanks - my good news brightened my week too. I am with you on getting cracking on Christmas shopping. I’ve done pretty much NOTHING so far.

Marty gets home late tonight. At least it will only be cold on my trip to the airport rather than blowing snow. He did buy a travel trailer today and will go back and get it this coming weekend.

Marty did well in the power lifting competition. He got three gold medals but two were winning his division with no other competition. He did get best master lifted overall in deadlifts. He said he earned that one. He was pleased with how it turned out for him. The competitions keep him motivated to keep his lifting up and it probably helps motivate his clients.

I worked most of the day. Had a mammogram and bone density test today. The radiologist was a bit grumpy and when I asked her to switch the pillows below my knees it really ticked her off. My right knee is easily agitated and I just wanted the lower pillow that was under the left know under the right. If the machine hadn’t been blocking me in, I could have done it myself. Oh well, I’m over it. If they call me back, I’ll pass. I think I’ve had enough tests for the year.

While I was out I picked up some groceries. The store was insane. You’d think there was a big holiday this week that involved food or something.

Yay for a gorgeous walk by the water. Maybe cycling is in your near future. With this crazy weather you can never tell. I want to go hiking today but Greg just informed me he feels we can go cycling. Hi everyone else and hope all is well. We had a good hiking day yesterday and I enjoyed a long zoom call with my girlfriends too. All in all an enjoyable day. I also did more lab work in the AM and the day went very fast. Today is a questionable day in terms of do we hike or cycle? It's up to me so I have to evaluate the weather and decide. @canuk-gal hope your weather is moderating to more mild temps like we are. We actually got to cycle yesterday and while it is true I was wearing my electric vest (OMG I love it) it was not a bad temp for this time of year...it reached 52F. I was bundled up though lol and I was comfortable. And as a holiday bonus I got my CG parka early yesterday! It was supposed to come next Monday (I opted for free shipping lol because I was paying so much for the coat I refused to pay for overnight shipping) and somehow it came overnight! It was signature only but thankfully we put up a note for the UIPS guy to please leave it and he did! Fed Ex would never do that but our UPS guy is so nice. So when we got home from cycling there it was. I had to try it on immediately of course haha





It's a lovely shade of blue and now I am satiated as I have this coat in red, white and now blue. Haha very patriotic I guess.

@marcy I forgot to tell you I got an iPad air last week and I LOVE it. My iPad was many years old and it was slowing down so I decided I wanted to get the iPad air. And it does not disappoint. Have a wonderful thanksgiving and hope all is well. Big hugs

Hi everyone else. I am so glad I let Greg convince me to go cycling yesterday...turned out to be a mild day relatively speaking that is. And it was a splendid ride. Today we are hoping for another good ride.

We did have another delivery yesterday..Our microwave has been acting up so Greg ordered a new one Monday and it came yesterday. Wow I thought microwaves were inexpensive but I was wrong. We have a drawer microwave so got the same one which probably explains the cost. It died after 5-6 (?) years which is ridiculous but for the sake of convenience we just replaced it with the same one so it would fit perfectly into the space for which it was originally designed when we renovated our kitchen. But it irks me to have had to get another in such a short time span. But it wasn't worth the hassle to research what else could fit into that space. Too much other stuff on our plates so we just went ahead and replaced it with the same model. Which apparently doesn't last long


And near the end of our ride we saw J and N. They are both such loves. I feel very fortunate to live near such sweet people. N and J will be gone much of the winter and I will miss them.
