HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a busy week. Work was brutal and I was SO tired yesterday after two days of nonstop running. But I got up early for the painters and plumbers--glad they did their work but I dragged most of the day. We went out for lunch and I found an adorable sweater at our fun shop nearby, 20% off! I wore it out with my Mom's pearls last night to our staff party. I was pretty beat but glad I went. Had loads of laughs and talked and talked about dumb stuff.

Our weather went for -21 to +1 overnight. Crazy swings here. The nights are coldish so there is no snow melting , hence what snow we have will be here for the rest of the long winter. Came early this is year as predicted--and we are in it for the long haul. I hope the predictions for single digit temps (-2) stick, so much better than -22.

@Austina will be folks be watching the soccer ? Hope your trip is going well.
@springerspaniel hope your travels are fun and rewarding also!
@missy stay warm. Your forecast looks nice.
@marcy have you done any holiday baking? I must make my pastry!! Won't do much this year other than butter tarts and Tortiere.

Stay safe and well folks!

cheers--Sharon

Just a quick fly by, we get off the ship tomorrow and are staying at the Langham for a few days so hopefully better internet! Will check in properly from there.

GM girls! Just a very quick hello as I am running late. Hope everyone is doing well! Happy Sunday!

We had a great day yesterday. We checked out the Seward sculptures in spring lake. Last time we did that was years ago but not sure they had the sculptures the past few years anyway. They are amazing.

Hello lovelies

Back on land, and in Sydney, where the dark clouds are gathering and it looks like it going to pour down! Not what we expected of an Australian summer.

Hope you’re all keeping well, will check back in later.

Leaving you with a few photos from the trip.

Look at this gorgeous baby Tasmanian devil!

And did you know that under the chin is the only place Kangas can’t scratch on their own?

And of course, the Iconic Sydney opera house where we were docked. 26832F73-7CBC-4E0F-87C1-A661AB0DDB7C.jpeg

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually thought we could go for a bike ride today--but misread the forecast--it was -15 so NO way! Well see later this week when + temps are predicted. I did go out for a walk--in my long parks--and got my picture taken with Santa! LOL. We had a lovely lunch out at our fav spot and many leftovers--so YAY! I might never cook again...or that is the plan. Well I did make homemade chicken soup today so I guess my plan has already failed.

@missy I enjoyed those sculptures. The cable knit sweater on the one piece--was so detailed!!!! Talented artists!

@Austina lovely photos!

Stay safe and well folks!

cheers--Sharon

Here is a collage of my new peachy-pink sapphire ring.

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy love the mini Batmobile and sweet pups. Thank you for all the great pictures from your outings and that PB cake. Pretty nice to get out this time of year. I was happy when Marty got the Snoopy’s up outside. Work is going well. I did take some hours off both Thursday and Friday. I need to get busy on Christmas chores. Friday night I decided to make a double batch of cheesecake - what a mess! I made four dozen mini cheesecakes and swear every inch of our countertops had something on it. I’m done with cheesecakes for the holiday though. The sculptures are amazing.

@canuk-gal sorry you had such a hectic week. Nice to go to the staff party and had a lovely and fun time. I love that you wore you mom’s pearls too. Yep, snow and cold is here to stay. I totally get how -2 is so much better than -22. I know when that happens here it’s almost like flip flop weather. I’m cutting back on holiday baking this year too. I don’t need the temptation either. I baked mini Christmas M&M already (put them in place of chocolate chips), the mini cupcakes with mini chocolate chips and plan on making peanut butter blossoms and candy cane cookies. This year we’ll probably have 14-15 people here on Christmas Eve. I ordered two boneless honey baked whole hams. How fun to get your picture taken with Santa.

@Austina it’s sometimes nice to not have internet access. Love your pictures; it looks like you are having a great time.

I seem to be busier now than when I was on call all the time. Thursday afternoon I decided to run much delayed errands and finished the afternoon by wandering around Hobby Lobby.

Friday I started my day at the periodontist getting a cleaning. I came home and waited for my box’o’rings to show up. A few of them - including the new sapphire - are a bit too small but I can get them on and off.

Friday night I made those four dozen mini cheesecakes and while I was pouring the batter in the muffin tins, I kept getting text from my SIL (the one married to Marty’s brother) and I hated to ignore her text so I was washing my hands almost every other minute to answer here. I did find another benefit to having muscles though, the giant 6 quart glass bowl with pour spout used to be too heavy for me to use and pour out of, but it’s no problem now. However, I’m sure you all know the problems of drips from pouring batter. Hence, the mess. Oh well, the kitchen cleaned up fine.

Saturday we went out for breakfast and shopping. We had friends coming over for dinner so got ready for that.

Today, both of us slept in for a change. Marty’s Sunday clients weren’t coming in today so he stayed home. I lifted, ran out and got my car washed - even thought a storm is moving in tomorrow - and did laundry, took pictures and caught up on some TV shows.

Marty got the house all decorated outside. Looks nice.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy marvelous Monday!

@Austina awwwww :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: what an amazing experience and I am so glad you are enjoying yourselves! Big hugs to you and all the furry sweet babies

@canuk-gal it's freezing here now. I wonder if we are done cycling for December...we shall see. It rained yesterday so we went to Brooklyn where I got more bling to bring back to the beach house. LOL I took so many things. Considering I wear minimal jewelry but when I looked at it all I couldn't bear to leave them behind. Darn the masks with dangle earrings. And I brought back my gorgeous bangle antique diamond bracelet. I forgot how beautiful it is. Looking forward to wearing it. I wore it all day yesterday haha...yes the sculptures were so realistic right down to the sweaters, socks and everything. Just amazing. I am glad you enjoyed thank you!

@marcy I find it important for me to get out each day if possible even in the freezing and inclement weather. I need it for my mental health this time of year especially. Glad you got your periodontal cleaning. I had an appointment today for that but canceled it two weeks ago and am seeing my dental hygienist next week instead. I will alternate every 3 months one cleaning with her and the other with the periodontal hygienist. I was seeing the periodontal hygienist every 3 months but decided alternating is best now since my fave periodontal hygienist retired last year. OMG 4 dozen mini cheesecakes...drooling over here. So yummy. Yay for your muscles and yay for cleaning up the kitchen no problem. The mess from baking is worth it IMO. Delish. Thanks for enjoying the sculptures. I took photos (despite being freezing and having to remove my gloves each time lol) for you girls. It doesn't surprise me you are busier than ever. You always accomplish so much. Impressive! Speaking of impressive sweet peachy sapphire ring...wear in good health and bling joy

@bling_dream19 @Slickk @MamaBee @mrs-b @springerspaniel and everyone else happy Monday and hope you all enjoyed a beautiful weekend.

Leaving you with photos of decorations in our building lobby in NYC. Decorated for the holidays. Always bittersweet for me being back there. I am sad to be away for so many years but prefer being here for now truth be told. And I feel badly about that too. Crazy I know. Sigh

Traveling there yesterday...hazy rainy cold

Oops almost forgot...on the ride home I snapped a photo of one of my bling pieces I took back with me from NY. I absolutely forgot how yummy and chunkalicious this ring is! I will be wearing and enjoying her again. @bling_dream19 I was wearing my snowflake leggings yesterday in anticipation of the colder weather

HI:

LOVE the ring!!! I'd love to see the bracelet as well. Sorry you feel you cannot stay "home". That must be a big decision.

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy that's great you brought back some bling from Manhattan. I figure it's a good thing to enjoy our pretty bling. That is an awesome ring! And as @canuk-gal said - I'd love to see that bracelet too. Love the decorations in your building. It must seem strange being there after being at the beach so long. You always can visit whenever you want. I hope you get more decent weather for cycling. Temps are plummeting here right now. Blizzard warnings from 5 pm today to 10 pm Wednesday. I had to pick up some dry cleaning so I went out early to pick it up and decided to top off my gas tank, figuring that 30 degrees was probably the warmest it will be for weeks. Late December and all of January seem to be our most frigid months with temps usually below zero.

I was up before 6 today so worked about 7 hours. I almost have all of December's stuff done (that I do) so will do busy work or not work so often. Of course, every time I think I'm running out of things to do, something else comes along.

Take care NIRDI's!

Marcy

What? No NIRDI's post yet today? I'm #1.

Our blizzard was a bust - snow wise - but the wind is living up to expectations. We only had 2 inches of snow but it is bitter cold and crazy windy out there. At least the wind blew the sidewalk and driveway off. The front porch is a different matter. My sister who lives on a farm 35 miles NE of us is out of power and down to 22% propane. They had 8" of snow, total whiteout conditions and roads are closed. I offered them our guest room but they can't get here. They've been trying to get propane delivered but the propane company is down to only 3 delivery trucks because they can't get necessary parts to fix their other seven trucks. They hopefully get power back before long and the propane company can get there soon.

I am making homemade beef noodle soup for supper. It smells great!

Take care.

Hello lovelies

I forgot to say @bling_dream19 that your new OEC is TDF! Absolutely stunning, and I love the setting. Is this to replace your original ER set or an addition?

@marcy, your new sapphire is gorgeous, and I love the lower halo of diamonds. It’s just such a pretty colour, I can well understand why you fell in love with it.

OMG @canuk-gal those temperatures are just unimaginable to me. Stay safe and warm.

Sending good vibes your way from your home country @mrs-b !

Isn’t is a lovely surprise when you re-look at jewellery you haven’t worn for a while @missy. I always get that feeling when I look at my pink sapphire and tanzanites and remember why I fell in love with them in the first place.

Are you all set for Christmas now @MamaBee ? How are the plans for selling the house coming on?

We went on a tour of the opera house yesterday, and then had lunch out side, after which we walked around the lovely park that’s adjacent to it. We even got to see rehearsals for a choir and ballet that were going to be on yesterday evening, quite the bonus.

Today we’re going on a tour this afternoon, I’ve done enough walking that my knee has been aching, so this’ll be purely sitting and enjoying the view.

Last day here tomorrow, then we’ll start the mammoth trek home. I can’t believe we’ve been gone almost 5 weeks.

:wavey:

@Austina glad you are out and about enjoying the sights. I hope your knee feels better after resting. Thanks for the kind words about my new ring.

@Austina - Do you know where, exactly, you saw the kangaroo/wallaby? Was it at The Koala Park Sanctuary in West Pennant Hills?

No it was in Tasmania @mrs-b, at a family run wildlife/rescue centre.

Good morning girls! Happy wonderful Wednesday!

@marcy glad your snowstorm was a bust. May they all be that way lol. Your poor sister. I hope they can get propane soon and that their power comes back on even sooner. Homemade soup is perfect in this weather. Stay warm and enjoy

@Austina I am so glad the trip overall was amazing and you enjoyed yourselves. Truly a wondrous experience, especially the wildlife. Thank you for sharing with us! Safe journey home!

@bling_dream19 hope the week is going smoothly and you are staying warm..winter is here

@Slickk hope all is well and going according to plan. The holidays are almost upon us. Mid December already. I almost can't believe how fast it came

@canuk-gal we might be getting our first snow tomorrow into Friday. The temps support it...it's 22F out there with 25 mph wnds. My mind goes to the feral cats outdoors and I worry but hope for the best. Hope work isn't too hectic or stressful and your week is going smoothly. I will take pics of the bracelet for you today

@MamaBee is your home all decorated? Anything new with the search? Hope everyone is well

@mrs-b Australia is an amazing place. I don't think I would have ever left to come here lol but you are fortunate you can go back when you are ready...best of both worlds. Hope your holiday plans are going smoothly and you are feeling well. Thanks for the bling love. I do love all my jewelery and I just forget how much I enjoy it when it is out of sight, out of mind. Now I have about 50% here and 50% in NY. So hard to choose what to bring here and what to leave

Hi to everyone else. Hope all is well. We hiked the last two days since the weather was too cold for cycling. And today the winds are howling. And it is much colder. LOL Hello winter. But you aren't supposed to be here for another week plus.

Stay warm and cozy everyone and be well. Sending you warm hugs and lots of love across the miles. Leaving you with some new friends we made the past two days while hiking

Happy Wednesday all. (((((Hugs)))))

@Austina looks like you're having a fabulous trip!!! How wonderful for you and your hubby to see the world! Thank you soo much for your sweet compliments. I really love this ring! It will not replace my original wedding set...just means I'm not a ORTRTA girl lol, at least for now. Variety is the spice of life! And as the saying goes....buy allll the diamonds!
I will always love and cherish and wear my original set. The OEC ring is just super glamorous and feels a bit more fancy.
Nirdi shoutout and love and Christmas cheer to all!

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy I hope your snow is not worse than what we got. And that this crazy bitter cold and wind doesn't find you. It is still nuts out there. Great pictures from your hike, cute little baby deers too.

@bling_dream19 I agree = buy all the diamonds and have fun switching up your rings.

I worked about 6 hours and had a bowl of leftover soup for lunch. I will lift once Marty leaves for the gym. My thrill-o-meter isn't showing much activity today. Just trying to stay warm.

Take care.
Marcy

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Decent work days. I didn't sleep well last night, so am dragging a bit today and we are invited to the neighbors for dessert and wine. Luckily it is close.

@marcy @missy no one needs any snow!! Seriously!! I could live in the desert or Tahiti.. LOL Keep warm folks. It was decent today--sunny and -2C. But I see the temps and going to drop dramatically next week. @Austina we say that also--how do we manage this cold and moreover WHY????? Travel safe.

@MamaBee I bought a super small butterball today--so unlike you I will be cooking turkey soon. Are you having ham for Christmas? Do you host again?

cheers--Sharon

Hello lovelies

Arrived in Dubai, just waiting for our flight to London in a couple of hours. Emirates First are the bees knees, I even had a shower on board

8 more flying hours to go (I think), until we reach London. Please keep everything crossed our Saturday flight home is ok, after 5 weeks, we’re ready to get back.

take care all :wavey:

@canuk-gal Yes..Everyone comes here for Christmas..Ham will be part of our New Years Day dinner..We eat a strange Christmas Day dinner. We’re Italian….although you wouldn’t know it to look at me..haha..Most of our families usually have fish for the Eve..and a roast or Turkey for the day along with a pasta. I don’t like fish or shellfish..I don’t like turkey…especially after just having it the month before at Thanksgiving. My mom started the tradition of homemade Sicilian pizza and thin Italian cheese sausage for the Eve. I did away with the sausage..but continued making homemade pizza. It’s very casual..This year I won’t be making pizza as my five year old grandson doesn’t like stringy cheese lately..I’ll make an assortment of things everyone can eat…buffet style..on the Eve..Christmas Day I usually make Baked Ziti with meatballs and salad. They love my meatballs.. :) Since my grandson doesn’t like stringy cheese..I’m making raviolis instead. It’s very non traditional..
Are you glad you asked? I’m sure you didn’t expect War and Peace..Hahaha

GM girls from the very stormy, windy and wet Jersey Shore! Happy FriYAY!!!
We lost power for 45 minutes last night (thanks to the generator we got it right back) but I know others keep losing power around the area due to the high winds. So I fully expect we will lose power again and just hope the generator keeps kicking in for us. The poor feral kitties outside. Praying they will be OK

@Austina safe travels! Big hugs and yes my fingers are crossed for a successful and easy return home

@canuk-gal we are only getting rain...plenty of time however for snow sigh...like you I would be pleased if it never snowed again lol
Even though I am prepared with my Olang spiky boots and my warm warm winter coats
Tahiti sounds pretty good..let me know when we are leaving :)
Stay warm! To that end I am sending you big warm hugs

@MamaBee they are unreal but I know you get it. Wow you are having the whole family over for Christmas...please give thought to what we discussed yesterday...sending you well wishes and big hugs

@Slickk are you getting snow by you? This is a fierce storm. The winds are over 45 mph. I do not like that nope. Stay safe and warm and hope your power stays on the entire time

@bling_dream19 girl, how are you doing? Big hugs and lots of love

@mrs-b hope your warm and loving family all enjoy a wonderful holiday with you and Tim..I can think of no better way to celebrate this December...warm hugs

@marcy hope your weather is calm and you are keeping warm...warm hugs going your way. And hope you are enjoying your pretty bling too

Hi everyone else. We are making progress on organizing and cleaning the house. Feels good. I was hoping to venture out to TJs today but not sure as it is super stormy out there and dangerous driving conditions exist so we shall see how it is later. I hope everyone is having a good week and a happy FriYAY!

Hello lovelies

Arrived safely to the U.K, it’s -2 here :???: flight was a breeze, we were off the plane and at passport control like greyhounds, and whoever Emirates use for baggage handling, WOW, our cases were already on the car out as we got there. They arrange a car to take you home - hotel for us. Just going to relax this afternoon, reorganise the cases - we’re overweight, as we’ve got an early start tomorrow. Will catch up when we get home:wavey:

Emirates sounds like the luxe way to go! I've heard many good things about their first class travel. It would be weird to shower up in the air!! Travel safe--I know you are already travelling well!

I LOL about the -2. Downright balmy! That was our high yesterday!!! Did you buy a lot of gifts?

What is your secret to great meatballs! My sister's neighbor (Italian) showed her his tricks--then she to me and man did it ever make a difference!! He added a lot of fresh parmesan and fresh sauce to the meat then mixed and mixed it. They are so tender and tasty!!
