OK, OK!!!! PICTURES!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Fancy colored diamond + antique setting = LOVE

And at $1500? Swoon.

Beautiful piece.

Like Chrono, it's too chunky for me but considering the price you paid, the fact that it's platinum with diamonds, it is most definitely a fabulous buy. As TL said, even if the setting is modern (and I would lean that way) the weight in platinum alone means you've paid waaayyyyyy less than you would expect! Enjoy wearing it.

Meant to ask ....... if it's going to replace your e-ring, what will you do with your wedding ring? How will you wear it, or will you switch it to become a RH ring?

I love the design and size of it, but I love Edwardian and Deco period jewelry. This definitely does not look Victoriana period to me, so if I had to absolutely guess one thing, it would be that it's designed after the Edwardian period or actually from it. I love those big chunky ornate designs with tons of millgrain.

I don't think there was millgrain in the Victorian period, or not so much of it (I could be wrong) and the pieces were less ornate, and very little platinum. Everything was mostly gold and silver, unless you were an extremely wealthy person. Diamonds were often set in silver as well as gold. RH, if you go on google, and type "Edwardian jewelry" most everything is similar in design to your piece. A lot of platinum was used during that period as well.

Honestly, if it is Edwardian, I think it would more valuable than if it was Victorian. There is a huge demand for Edwardian antique jewelry and it costs a premium.

Even if the setting turns not to be a replica, the stones, platinum setting and labour for all that is probably worth more than what you paid. It is too chunky for my taste but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate looking at it. Lovely ring and the OEC is very well cut.

Urgh! I hate it when I spot a grammatical error past the edit stage so now I’ll have to fess up. I meant to say “Even if the setting turns out to BE a replica, the stones, platinum setting and labour for all that is probably worth more than what you paid. I actually sold it. My husband and I seperated for a few months, and I wanted a new one to 'symbolize' a new begining. I would have never worn my other one. It was waaayyy too big for a RHR.

TL- I looked up edwardian last night, and I agree that it looks like that time period. Like I said, I am going to have it appraised by a master appraiser who specializes in antique jewelry.

This is about the color of the stone in person in natural light. WOW are yellow/orange stones expensive. I feel super good about it now!!!! And this one is only .6ish CTS!

I'm sorry to hear your news RH but it sounds like you have a plan for your ring!

Wear it in good health and happiness.

Thank you :-). We got back together though, and things are MUCH better. So its all good :-)

Your ring is very pretty and you got a super deal. I agree with TL that the style is more Edwardian than Victorian. I would say 1910 to 1920. I am not an expert in antique jewelry, but IMHO, the setting looks like a vintage reproduction. It looks too perfect to be 100 years old, especially the millgrain. But no matter, the diamonds alone are worth much more than what you paid. Enjoy your ring.

I think it is a beautiful ring. I am the last one to check all these posts - my NEW computer crashed! So sorry to be latest voice in the chorus, it is a beautiful ring, never mind the period, I'd wear it, too!

I love it and its just my style. Thanks for sharing.
