So I found an opal. Darn you @Autumn in New England ;-)

I’ve wanted one for a long time. But it was your post on opals and search and amazing find which ‘enabled’ me to find one now!

It’s not anywhere near the beauty of Autum’s (or the budget ;-)2 ) but I love it and cannot wait for it to arrive. It’s my perfect colours

Here’s a still

And here’s my setting inspiration

And I hope this is the video

Oh I'm so honored that my purchase inspired you!! And you bought it from Michael (I can tell by Yuka's nails)!! lol He's Australian and she's Japanese. :mrgreen2: Your opal has the entire spectrum... it's gorgeous! I'm finding that's really important to me. And the flash doesn't look directional, which is great (I'm finding I hate directional opals). I think you did really well. Did Michael tell you the body color and brightness grades? I found that really helpful when buying, as miners grade and sort the stones right at Lightning Ridge. BIG CONGRATS to you, my friend!!

P.S. I love that you're going to bring out the turq in the opal with paraibas. :kiss2:

Wow, that's stunning! :kiss2: Where did you find it? I love your inspiration pic. Do you think you'd use paraiba or something else?

Hello @elle_71125 thank you so much. That means a lot coming from you whose collection is out of this world!
It is from opal galaxy where @Autumn in New England brought her stunning opal. I happened to browse after seeing hers and this is the result!
I would like to use paraiba. Desert rose did have some 2mm or 2.5mm melee on instagram so I might see. Will be a while before I can set it though!

Yes from opal galaxy. This is why it is entirely down to you that I have this on the way!! ;)2

I asked Michael on brightness and body tone and he sent me this- ‘The brightness is B1 (1 being brightest from 1 to 5). Body tone is a little difficult and may be different if you ask different people on this one. Some may look at the front and think it’s a N1/N2. However if you go by the potch colour on the back it is an N2/N3’.

I am hoping it’s as pretty in real life as the video. I love the colour of the sea - it’s my absolute favourite colour. So this opal with paraiba should be Caribbean all the way!

Well this is just so exciting, @Christinak! Is the opal your holiday present to yourself?! :appl:

P.S. While all vendors definitely want to show their gems' best side in listing photos/vids, I found my opal to be every bit as beautiful in person. Just a lot smaller, lol, so you have to keep that in mind with regard to the size of the flash in proportion to the actual LxW. But yours has a nice watercolor pattern to it, so I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Oh that’s great to hear thank you!

Yes I think the size will be tiny - it’s only 9x7x2. But a double halo should sort that out :lol-2:

It's gorgeous! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

Love the pastel colors! Reminds me of impressionist paintings and my opal!

Icy, this opal deserves more admiration!!! I want to rip it right off your finger and abscond.

"Neon pastels" is a contradiction in terms, but I feel like it applies here, @Christinak! I can't wait to hear your review... just lovely.

It's positively gorgeous! And you know what they say, small but mighty! I find 9x7 to be a very pleasant size, and in any case, the colour play on this one is a killer. Better to sacrifice a bit of size for your budget's sake, but to get something which, although smaller, will steal the show with its colour.

Thank you so much @Avondale. I’m so excited to see it in real life!

That is going to be beautiful with the paraiba double halo. Might as well snatch up some of the melee from DR - if you buy enough (which I'm sure will be easy to do) you'll be able to get some free gems for other future fun projects.

Oh baby baby…

Talk about playing with your heart. All these opals are doing #Things to mine!!

I love icy’s Impressionism comparison! So totally accurate!! It will be spectacular in a paraiba halo!

Thank you @yssie - to have you say that it’s a nice opal is an honour :kiss2:

So ladies I have a CAD already from David.

I wanted the opal set east to west so that’s the first change.

The size of the stones looks a little off. I think either the diamonds are too big or the paraiba are too small?

The gallery needs some inspiration.

And as I am setting east to west I wonder if I should vary the halo size like @Niel did with her amazing ring.

Thoughts? I am not great at interpreting so any and all input and help would be hugely appreciated:mrgreen2:.

Thank you

@Christinak Are the paraibas definitely 2mm or are you able to go larger? I would bring the diamonds down to 1mm to start. And if it's possible to go larger with the paraibas, I might consider that. Great start!!

I can get 2.5mm paraiba. Do you think that size with a 1mm diamond halo will be more in line with the inspiration?
