Ooopppps I did a thing. I blame you @autumn in New England

Have you ever seen my spider gallery? Works with a bezel and I think it’s very fun. You I might say it’s a but quirky but this will be a quirky ring

And yes I’d make the diamonds as small as possible and the outer halo as large as possible.

P.S. While all vendors definitely want to show their gems' best side in listing photos/vids, I found my opal to be every bit as beautiful in person. Just a lot smaller, lol, so you have to keep that in mind with regard to the size of the flash in proportion to the actual LxW. But yours has a nice watercolor pattern to it, so I don't think you'll be disappointed!

@Autumn in New England and @Christinak -
I now declare you "sparkling opal" sisters.
It won't be easy to find these now! You're two lucky ladies.

So ladies I have a CAD already from David.

I wanted the opal set east to west so that’s the first change.

The size of the stones looks a little off. I think either the diamonds are too big or the paraiba are too small?

The gallery needs some inspiration.

And as I am setting east to west I wonder if I should vary the halo size like @Niel did with her amazing ring.

Thoughts? I am not great at interpreting so any and all input and help would be hugely appreciated:mrgreen2:.

Thank you

Yes I like the idea to vary and alternate the stone size. I suggested the same to @Autumn in New England but she's on a secret mission NRN until I'm sure she shocks us all with her creation.

For paraiba -

kinda like these east west

Mmmm my eyes do not enjoy the gradient going n/s on that last e/w ring.

I shooped this with the smallest outer halo stones are the same as the original but they get marginally bigger toward e/w

I actually really like how the CAD looks. Personally I'd keep it N/S, but it's your ring and if E/W is what you'd like by all means go for it!

This is the gallery of my ring with diamonds, just an example 20220512_095602.jpg

I do! but I didn't appreciate such a setting until worn in person, but I also prefer NSEW better than NS alone on an EW.

Right but this is graduated n/s and the stone is set n/s
I also have a ring like that.
The example above has the largest stones in the middle of the oval and I think that’s a detriment to the shape.

I personally don't see it as extreme as a detriment. Just as an EW setting helps with the spread for a smaller stone, larger accent stones NS also help with the spread and I don't see it as a detraction. I personally like that example posted, different and unique in my eyes!

That is one way to look at it.
Your next cads will be fun to see. Hopefully the modifications go together well :)

The orientation may end up having to be NS anyhow depending on the best face of the opal, as opals are unique in this regard. The OP will need to wait until she receives the stone first before deciding on the design.

I love this @Niel ! I definitely want something different for the gallery. As you say the whole ring is different and quirky

Ok thank you

Oh my goodness @Niel thank you for doing this. I love it easy to west and the slight variation in the halo.

Thank you @cocotate for your ideas and yes I agree i need the stone first but I much prefer east to west so hoping it works with the stone!

From the video it looks like east west will work with the opal patterns but often noticeable ref flashes will look different in person for a better orientation in person. I hope east west works for you!

So I found an opal. Darn you @Autumn in New England ;-)

I’ve wanted one for a long time. But it was your post on opals and search and amazing find which ‘enabled’ me to find one now!

It’s not anywhere near the beauty of Autum’s (or the budget ;)2 ) but I love it and cannot wait for it to arrive. It’s my perfect colours

Here’s a still

And here’s my setting inspiration

And I hope this is the video

That's beautiful!
