I am pretty sure that if i were to get the O (it is only a matter of time, really), i am certain to have it set like yours. Do you mind if i copy that? i just want to make sure that you are Ok with it...O'wise i will have it set in a similar tension setting that i have currently.

The next favour is 2 fold and the explanation to follow i) - can you pls take a profile photo of the entire ring itself, ie not on your hand? i want to get an understanding of the entire size/ shape of the ring so i can do the next bit
ii)- do you think you can draw/ adobe paint a 2mm ring around it to mimic my eternity height? if not i will print your profile shot of your ring not on your hand and draw out that 2mm ring.

I took your side-view pic, but have no idea how to draw a 2mm ring around it.
I put a scale under it for reference.
The pic does not show it but the bottom of the ring is exactly lined up with the beginning of the scale.

Greg, here is a super close up of how high my ring sits above my finger.

Looks like the metal is 6 mm and the stone is about 6.5 mm.

IMO, Bruce could have lowered the culet one fill mm.
Perhaps you can request this and email him this pic.

Thanx V. But I am probably about 12-24 months from making the change. Being in AUS, it is $ to ship (+taxes) the diamond for me to view, assess it. It is quite prohibitive -another 20%. And I don't thing GOG will hold a diamond for 12-24months.

To clarify: the Octavia i have abbreviated to O, and the asscher =A, to simplify typing, just incase u thought I was meaning the O colour. I do like the O,a lot and if having the o colour on its own- I would say yes for sure. but i am pairing it with my FG colour eternity and there will be a distinct colour difference that will bug me.

The process for me at the moment and it is mainly that I live in AUS:

I would save $ to get the diamond n setting outright. We are planning a trip to USA in the next 1-2 yrs. go to GOG to see it n make final decision. I will be buying n setting diamond in USA. As for my A- I could and should sell my A before this occurs and more than likely commission it to GOG. This may take time to sell. But sending the A to USA scares me a bit, esp with the insurance issue. It was discussed in another thread that the max fedex will insure on paper is $5000, but realistically only $1000. They should be changing their website details but that is another story. I may ask GOG if they can help me with the insurance side of things if I were to commission the ring to them.

I am also waiting for the Octavia cz to be available so that I can see it in person, and I have to take the limitations of cz v actual diamond in performance. But this is more to visualize the height/ depth of the O next to my eternity. And Kenny has been very helpful in my quest to understand this with his pics.

Well, that is my thought processes on this change, at this moment.

Just to let you know, I consigned my original 1ct RB with GOG. It was an excellent experience. They sent me a label to ship it over to them via fedex, meaning it was fully insured for its value. My diamond took almost a year to sell as it wasn't ideal cut but I got a fantastic price for it. Plus, because I was using the funds to buy my 1.7RB the percentage consignment fee was very low.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this route. I look forward to seeing what you end up with!!

If there had been octavias when I purchased my asscher... I definitely would have bought one. They are amazing.

Thanx susimoo. I live in AUS so it may make a difference on shipping internationally, but will be asking the question to the vendor doing a consignment. This was also suggested in a differnt thread i am following. Definitely up for another PS GTG when I am back in the USA!

It is now a matter of addressing how it is going to work with the current eternity. I am working on the photos that Kenny posted earlier..
I am thinking that the diamond has to be set lower, therefore the profile between the solitaire and the eternity would not be that great.
If it is set too high, it will interfere with wearing gloves!

I have printed kennys profile ring picture and with the dimensions and scale that he gave me, i translated it to what i am currently wearing... it is possible with a few adjustments....

If i can get Boone to set the ring lower such that there is only 0.2mm clearance between the culet and the finger/ inside fitting edge of the ring, i would have about 2.8mm height of the O above the eternity. That is do-able. If however, they can only set it like how Kenny's is - a clearance of approx 1.5mm, then it is going to be too high for my comfort level, and secondly for working with gloves.

Bruce has for back to me and he feels that 1.00mm is about the gap that is reasonable for a medium size diamond, otherwise I may feel the culet. I was requesting a 0.25mm gap as I am referencing it to my semi- tension setting. Mine has a bar under it and therefore protects the skin from filling in that space up to the culet. And at 0.25mm, he is saying that I would feel the culet, and therefore uncomfortable. Weight fluctuates and therefore more skin may get into that space.

Question for u: how low is this profile compared to the other tension set rings u have?
I am trying to understand this so that I can understand the overall height of the ring in relation to my tolerance to the aesthetic height difference between my eternity and this Boone solitaire tension setting; along with daily wearing of gloves.

A follow up question: how low had the other tension settings been and does/did your finger feel the culet. Perhaps a side profile shot of the other tension setting with a ruler as a scale as you have done above can be helpful.

OP, I have a ring that has the stone's culet touching my skin. It doesn't bother me, but I don't wear the ing all day, every day.

Actually, sunglasses may not offer enough eye protection, but those face shields for welders might.

Greg, I can photograph two rings, my SO's Octavia with the same setting as mine though in titanium not cobalt-chrome, and my ACA in a platinum Gelin Abaci setting.
The old large asscher is gone and Solasfera round is loose.

It's not a done deal yet, GOG and I got to get together on a setting. We faled last time I had to let a really nice one go back.

That setting requires an angled view of the Octavia, which is not on GOG and I don't have one loose.

Maybe someone better at photoshop has some ideas.

I could try the side view but the diamond would be on top of all of the prongs.

Of course there IS a way to get the prongs back on top of the diamond, but I don't know how to do that yet.

I'd grade myself a B+ on Photography but only a D on Photoshop.
