Hi PS''ers,

I need your help again
1.gif
I''ve been searching for an rd dress for a little while now. I''d like something in a light color (white, cream, champagne, etc) and I really want it to match my shoes. These are the same shoes I''m going to be wearing to my wedding. I figured for the amount I spent on them, I should wear them both days
31.gif
- they are manolo''s btw
30.gif

So I picked up the dress a week ago and I had an idea of pairing the outfit w/ a DBTY style necklace and I found this one at Neiman Marcus last call and I couldn''t resist. I think it''s around 36 or 40" long.

My main concern is my slight tummy pooch, yeah I know I''m crazy. I''m trying to do more crunches but I''m just a tad worried about it. Please tell me honestly if it looks good. We are still 6 months away from the wedding so a). I have time to get rock hard abs, haha, yeah right or b) find something else.

Thanks so much!!! (please don''t hate me about the tummy comment

Oh and what does everyone think of the necklace? And shoes? Or I guess the whole outfit? Thanks

LOL asscher...I have the SAME complaint about my body and all of my friends are like..."SHUT UP!" So, I feel your pain, but I really don''t think you have a stomach pooch, and I think that dress is fantastic. And those SHOES...omg...they are flipping amazing, and I don''t blame you one bit for wanting to wear them as much as possible! I''m so jealous!

I also like the necklace, but have you considered a choker-like one to draw people''s attention up towards your face rather than down towards your perfectly flat tummy where that other necklace ends?
9.gif
Just a thought...

Also, what about some sort of belt or sash on the dress? I personally don''t think it needs it, but you really need to do whatever you have to to feel comfortable.

Hope that helps...you are gorgeous!

Honestly, I think it looks beautiful. I think that you have curves. Stunning, beautiful, womanly curves. You look incredibly beautiful and sexy, so relax, okay???

I think the dress looks really good on you... and you''re going to be moving around in it anyway so its not like you''ll be standing still for 10 minutes to let people examine you lol. And I do like the necklace with it. I agree a belt or something might look nice if you are really concerned about your tummy but its not neccessary.

Hi AG!

You know I think you are a very beautiful girl with a fabulous figure... but if you want my honest opinion... I don't know how you found a dress in a negative number, cause that's what it would have to be to be tight on you... but it is, and just isn't perfect, and with your figure, I think you can achieve perfect. I think it's the lining: the dress doesn't look lined, or if it is, the lining isn't preventing the clinging. I feel bad saying that cause the style is lovely, and I can see how, if properly lined and fitted, it would be a knock out dress style for your figure... but the execution just isn't flattering on this particular dress. I love the necklace and ADORE the shoes though. Did you get a haircut too? I love the length!

ETA: It's not your non-existent belly that's making me say that, BTW, it's the bunching right under your chest at the waistline. If it's part of the design of the gown, nevermind, but from the pics it looks like the fabric is pulling and stretching weird there.

Gypsy, I agree. I think it's a fabulous dress, but when you can see your bellybutton it's not lined enough, and when it crinkles across the waist, it's too tight. That means there isn't enough fabric and it's pulling away. Trade it in for a size larger and wear a supported slip underneath.

Otherwise, it's a great dress! :) Good find for a rehearsal dinner!

Hi Harleigh! Tell me about it! haha. Good point about the necklace hitting my mid section. I didn''t think of that. I do like the dress a lot but I''m also wondering if it will really work for Hawaii. I originally had an idea about something a little more flowy. Thanks for your imput!

Thanks Princess! You''re too kind

Oobiecoo - I agree about the standing around, probably won''t be happening

Gypsy and Misy - you are right about the lining or lack of. I have no idea what kind of thongs I can even wear with that dress. It is tight, but I think it''s meant to fit that way. But I''m really not sure, that''s why I posted here. It does however gather a bit under my boobs. Gypsy - you''re too funny, its not a negative, haha. Oh and I did get some layers put in and I went darker in color overall w/ some caramel lowlights. I''m going to Mara''s girl and I love her
1.gif
I still haven''t met Mara though

That reminds me, I should start a thread about a south bay GTG.

Thanks again for all of the comments, I think I may keep looking.

One more question, should I keep the fun necklace?

Any other ideas would be awesome! I am a size 4 btw so if you happen to see anything and it screams Asscher girl, please let me know

You''re very welcome!

As for the lack of lining issue, what about the renowned "spanx" everyone keeps talking about? Not sure that would fly in HI, but it will be cooler while you''re there, so it might just work!

LOVE the necklace...just not with that dress! If it was cheap enough, I say keep it and enjoy!

And, btw, I agree...your hair does look just fabulous! Looks rich and healthy!

Also, if I''m willing to make the drive from Sacramento, do I get to come to the South Bay GTG???
31.gif
Maybe I can talk April into driving down with me!
36.gif

Of Course you can come down!!! I''d love to meet you Harleigh!

As for the spanx, yeah too hot and not sexy
31.gif
Of course it''s the rd so there shouldn''t be any
31.gif
31.gif
anyway, lol

Honey...you would look spectacular wearing a tablecloth! Of course in a light shade to go with those incredible Malonos! Your posture, your shoulders are so pretty and that beautiful hair. I love the style and look you have achieved with that style. Necklace I love...but maybe shorter? You are going to make a stunning bride...RD and wedding day alike!

On to the dress...Agree with the bunching of the fabric or the seams or something. It isn't you or your perfect body that is the issue. If you want honesty...I think it looks like a dress liner. Sorry!!!
15.gif
The stitching even looks like under serge stitch. I like the idea of the lines but it is just not Blackwell approved level. You've got time...get back out there and make us proud!!! Toss this one back.

Oh by the way...you already have rock hard abs. What are you talking about?

DKS

Diet tip: If you are ever self conscious of your lower ab area...get started consuming lots of fiber and acidophilus...You will find adding these to your routine may abolish the need for crunch time!! A little swell if present...Adding those two suggestions will help move along what causes the dreaded swell. Look ma! No hands...err... I meant NO CRUNCHES!!!

DKS,

I get the fiber part, but am curious about the acidophilus...I already take it and am wondering what it should be doing for me! Details, details...I hate crunches!

I get the fiber part, but am curious about the acidophilus

Every one has bacteria ...the acidophilus replaces the bad bloat causing bacteria with good friendly stuff. It takes about 2 weeks...but if a swell is due to the bacteria bloat...it will be history. Oh, you need the acidophilus stuff always...so you continue to take it. This is my experience...It works for me. When I fail to take it I get a little pooch (in my case it is more like a Saint Bernard...than a yorkie.
2.gif
) There is alot of other rotor rooter stuff you can take. And if you do you will see results...right in that target area.

DKS

roter rooter-LOL too funny DKS

I whole heartedly agree with the other ladies. You are a KNOCK OUT, but that dress looks poorly made.

And a slight tummy pooch like that isn''t unsightly, it''s womanly and feminine. We weren''t made to have washboard abs. I think part of the problem though is the cut of the dress and the fabric is really unforgiving. If it were slightly looser or a different color, you wouldn''t even notice your tummy.

Hey DKS! Thanks for the honesty, I really appreciate it. And that''s a great tip for the abs, I''ll have to try that

Hi Harleigh - I''ve been checking out white house black market for a while now to see if they get in anything I''ll like. I''m not in love w/ what they have right now, but I''ll keep checking their website.

thanks HH!

Thanks for the info, DKS! Maybe I need to up my dosage???

(I swear things settle after a certain age...right in the pooch!)

As for those dresses, asscher, those were for you from Gypsy...she posted them in the engraved bracelet thread on accident.

And, for the record, those shoes you have will make anything look fabulous!!!

Well, I will let you in on the inner workings, since I work for them.. We are just now getting our holiday attire in - nothing much except for black, black and more black. We did just get a sexy satin black dress that is similar to what you have already. Rarely will we see a cream during this time. During Jan. - March, we will get the creams and whites. However, they are more of the sundress variety. Right after Christmas, for like two weeks, get this "retreat" wear that is more spring-like for the people that go on vacations and such during winter and I have seen some gorgeous dresses come in at this time. But, here's the catch. Not everything that we get in the store is listed on the website (like the dress I mentioned above) and not every store gets the same shipments. So check around in different locations. Also, right now, most of our product is not being replenished. So if you see something, I would get it immediately because we don't know if it is coming back. If you are looking for somthing similiar to what you already have, check the website - whiteandblack.com - and look under the dresses section. The entire bridal line is listed on the website and while there isn't a dress exactly like yours, there is a white a-line, sweet heart neck, satin, lined dress. It does run small - about a size or two. But you can return stuff to the store to avoid paying shipping charges again.

That was a little longer than planned.. Since it's six months away, I would keep looking for something perfect. I agree that spanx are too hot!

ETA: Duh! I just saw DKS's links to the site. The Priscilla dress is the one I was mentioning.

I agree with those that said the dress looks too much like a slip or a dress liner. Too tight, shows things through it, and that stitching does look like under stitching. The shape is nice, just maybe a touch more fabric?
9.gif
I too, think you can find something much prettier! Do you have a Nicole Miller boutique near you?

Maybe I''m in the minority here - but I think that dress is flippin'' fantastic! I''m having a really low-key wedding on New Year''s, and I wish I could find something that slinky, sexy, and fun to wear.

With regard to it being kind of...er...see-through, I didn''t really notice. But, you could kill two birds with one stone (i.e., hide the transparency of the fabric and ease your concern about your stomach, which you shouldn''t be worried about anyway you silly beautiful girl) and get a body shaper or something...(not that you need it). But it might make the dress a little less see-through while making you feel more confident. Just a suggestion.

With regard to the DBTY necklace - sheer perfection; I love the layered look and think it''s just perfect with the dress. I would keep it. Even if you decide not to wear it with your rehearsal dinner dress - you should STILL keep it
9.gif

I do think the fabric of the dress is unforgiving. You need to get something that you feel comfortable and beautiful in. It doesn''t seem like this is it.
