There are a lot of great forums out there.
The key too a great forum is strong yet fair moderation.
Within 10 minutes of visiting a forum I can tell if I want to join or not.
Read the forum rules then look over the posts and if you find 5 posts more than a few hours old on the front page that break the rules then it isn''t a site you want to join.

Okay, could not resist...I agree that some other forums lack a certain quality that sets PS apart from others (regardless of subject)...not sure what the quality is exactly (nor can I think of the perfect word to describe it).

I have to say that one thing with PS is everyone seems to put a good amount of time into their questions and responses...not sure where each of us finds this time (I for one am at work and reading and responding on PS

).

I have never frequented internet forums for exactly the reasons that everyone here is talking about...

I stumbled on PS 4 months ago researching diamonds-- OF COURSE-- and I continue to be amazed at how bright, thoughtful, fair, and cool all the people here are. My friends just don''t understand, but I think they are starting to get the picture that this is a really special place.

And I totally agree with Storm, great moderation... it''s nice of the mod''s to take time to keep all the non-diamond forums going... I love hanging out on PS for the non-diamond stuff, but really, PS''s bread and butter comes from the diamond forums and advertising there etc, and those forums are probably only indirectly benefitted by maintaining all these other forums (hangout, BWW etc etc). But I love PS, it is wonderful.

This forum is great because of the people here. Other than PS I visit a parenting board and it''s becoming something completely different from when I first joined.

I am also a member of a BMW owner''s forum... Its actually a great place to ask technical questions as there are a lot of BMW techs on there... If there is ever an issue with your car, you can usually figure out what it is before you take it to the shop...

Sna you seem to have a good sense of humor, so I''m gonna tell you this.

When I read that you are in a BMW owners forum my automatic thought was, "That''s hilarious, people get so obsessed with their silly cars!" And then I remembered PS is a silly diamond forum and I have reached almost 1000 posts in about 5 months...

Ugh! Try getting on any Sportbike forum. All they consist of is a bunch of drama and people hating eachother.
