thank you all
a very Merry Christmas morning to you
if you remind me next year i would buy a bigger pandoro and maybe start on it Christmas week, if i brought a bigger one i would even buy some of that crème fraîche or mascarpone
edited to add Gary said it was 'nice bread' and its amazing they can get it here from Italy before it goes stale
he didnt quite finish his so i got an extra mouthful !
I used to go crazy about them and eat so many like a nutcase. Now they are horribly expensive even here in Europe and anyhow I do not eat gluten anymore. I tried the free versions and they are not good at all and even more expensive. Sooooo sad … my fave treat of all times.
so what to do with the last little panettone
the one with choc chips
i warmed it
i sliced it into 4 round slices
poured some left over Bailey's over each piece and creamed each slice
chucked in some frozen berries
divided it into two and used up the remaining Baileys and the whipped cream
Got this for half price the other day and made some French toast. Can't say I enjoyed it too much. Had it with maple syrup (because it doesn't taste right without it) and due to the fruits inside, it was excessively sweet. The panettone itself is of course great. Think I'll make tiramisu with it next.
i dont think my work mates liked it
no one said anything
i live in a very provincial backwater/ boon docks
it must have been too foreign for them
in his defence Gary at both as pudding dessert) with cream and berries ok -the late harvest and the Bailys helped
but my friend the bird lady loved it (she gets our old bread from work for the wild birds that visit her garden -yes she soaks it and she also feeds out actual bird food)
anyway she knew it, her long passed parents were ww2 refuges from one of the Baltic states -although i checked a map and there is quite a geographical distance between, maybe my friend just isnt scared to try 'foreign ' food
as i said i live in the boon docks
but Val was also a chef,
she had it as her xmas cake on xmas day
(also she really loved her Wen pearls )
