Hi I read a lot of the posts about pink diamonds and reviewed a few websites.

Does anyone have a good source or way to go about finding a pink cushion cut (smaller side) ring?

I am partial to the pinks w/o orange or brown.

How does the grading work it seems very confusing???

Pinks that are pure pink are outrageously expensive! Diamonds By Lauren carries pink and yellow diamond rings, but the pinks are very very light if they are affordable.

Thanks, Deco! Those were great examples!

Lisa, you might want to take a look at pink sapphires. A lot of people go in that direction for a pink stone. Pink tourmaline is nice, too!

Thank you all for the responses. I''ve been cruising the net (Diamonds by Lauren, Garry''s site, & about five others). I read in an old post that Stephen Hoefer is the man to ask about appraisal.

Outrageously priced is right! I saw some loose stones on Ebay but they looked so washed out. Guess there''s no getting around the price tag or is there?

Maybe I should fly to argyle(sp) mine in W. Australia

and check the operation out.

What do you think of spinels? Definitely pretty but still not a diamond

The Pink Fever...yes. Ive had it, too. I love

them. I like pinkish browns, too - which are less expensive.

Here are a few of the sites I''ve looked at, trying every which way to even imagine owning one (not a chance, for me!):

How about going with a normal colorless diamond cushion, and having the jeweler source a fabulous pink surprise diamond? If it''s small enough, you could probably swing one with the fantastic color you are looking for.

It was those $100,000 per carat price tags that softened me into appreciating pink-browns and brownish pinks... the center stone in here is 1.12 ct and the whole ring is $25K. It''s pink enough for me - at least in the photo!:

This is the ring!!!! How did you know?

Someone has to know someone who can do something for neurotics like us.

By the way, I saw a pink (w/ orange/brown) RB in the maul at the kiosk place for 13K!!!!! I''m pretty sure it was Gia.

Not interested in a RB though.

OK let''s strategize.............Flygirl - this time it has to be pink!

Um... YES!

www.cherrypicked.com is a site I go to look for good colored stones, but I''m afraid they come with a slight premium. If you don''t mind that, there could be something you like!

Ooh, Ninama, can you tell me where this ring is from? It''s beautiful! Reminds me of happy cotton candy days at carnivals...

They have more, too

. I would LOVE to see them face to face up. This ring has is a 0.90 ct light pink oval and is priced at $14,950. If it''s really this pink in person, I think it''s nice.

Or.... a 1.70 FIP for $280,000.00!

It really makes me nutsy-kookoo that looking at these ultra-expensive things can get me thinking that 15K, 20K, 25K is like nothing. It's a lot of damned money (to me)! I know it's all relative... but yikes.

Hmmmmm, about how big is your budget, Lisa?

How about a pink spinel from Jeff White?

Yes those are definitely carbon spots that I think detract from the overall look of the stone. It''s too bad though cause the color is yummy!

Fancy Intense Pink Cushion, 0.72 ct, SI2 from www.fancydiamonds.net, $14,200

ETA: The link: http://www.fancydiamonds.net/Pink_Diamonds/1805.htm

IMHO, when I first saw the photo (and I'm sure it varies from screen to screen), but Deep Pink came to mind. It's a good price for the size of the stone. And in looking at it multiple times, sometimes I see deep pink and sometimes also a tad of brownish that I think gives it a darker tone.

Ninama - that''s what I call true bubblegum pink!

If price is no obstacl, I would go to Graff for a fabulous selection of pink diamonds.

I keep thinking it has a bit of brown too, but the GIA cert says "pink".

I suspect there may be some interesting flourescence or some surface inclusions driving down the price. That was the case for an SI2 greenish yellow chameleon I purchased from them last year. But, with the lower price, and the fact that the color masks the inclusions pretty well, I''m not complaining.

Hmmmmm, about how big is your budget, Lisa?

Thought I''d build the budget around the stone (I know this sounds so gratuitous) - I mean I''d like to research the hell out of pinks and ultimately get the best deal. I think .35 - .5 cttw or around there would work.

Ninama you''re killing me w/ photos - right up my alley!

Independent Gal - I''ll look into graff - thanks!

this is pure shameless fun........

Well, this one is a bit smaller at 0.23 ct, and it''s a pear, but I keep coming back to the color. I

this shade of pink. A steal at $8,100. Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink. Link

I omitted one of my pink diamond sites from that list...

I see some crossover in diamonds from other sites - like you do with colorless, sometimes. Here''s good example of how photos of the same diamond can look very different.

This is a .59 EC fancy intense "o." (orange, I assume) pink at Ishay Ben-David, stock # 5438, call for price, etc.
