The stone looks like it''s on fire - wow! It would be tempting to never set it but just to bring it out to play with every day. But, hey, I guess that''s why they make mountings so we can have our pretties with us all the time.

It is very beautiful - hats off to Karl and DiaGem and congrats to you for acquiring it!!

Exactly!!!

We rarely rotate our wrist so the diamond is perfectly face up to get the full light show ideal-cut diamonds are so good at.
With the Octavia you don't have to.
Very clever cut.

Might you be able to take a shot of the Octavia beside another regular run-of-the-mill asscher?



It looks so very different, what do you think of it now that you have it in hand?



If someone is looking for an asscher, would you recommend the Octavia as a better-performing alternative, or is it a completely different animal?

Yssie, good question.
I will give it careful consideration and answer after I've had more time with them.

My previous asscher is almost a carat larger and is purported to be an exceptionally fine example of asscher cut, rather than run of the mill.
These two factors will inevitably play into a comparison but I will be as transparent as I can be when reporting my opinion.

The composition, framing and light is better.
It is like moonlight.

An LED near the lens gave this cool light, the brown rice is illuminated with underexposed natural sunlight.

I''m manipulating macro equipment, bellows, aperture release cords, dirty diamond, flower pollen, centering the diamond while squinting in the sun, balance of direct and reflected light and colors, movement in the wind during 3 second exposures, desire to balance warm and cool colors, etc.

Hey, it took only a few hours for my Octavia to bring me a wife, a daughter, a diamond cleaning woman, a woman who'll seek out locations for good Octavia lighting, a grandmama, and even a gal who threw herself at me offering to, "work something out

." wink wink, nudge nudge.

There were over 1000 views on RT before this got moved to HO and now there are an additional 2000 views here.
I hope all those people are fully clothed and behaving themselves.
People are clearly feeling Octavia Love.
I even have this funny feeling that a woman is about to offer me a Mini-Cooper stuffed full of live chickens for it.

At this point nothing a woman would do for, or to

, an Octavia would surprise me.

I think with this design Karl has tapped into something universal, even subliminal.
