#JOTW Post your Cartier jewels/rings/watches!

I'm on vacation in Albania now and had a stopover at Frankfurt airport. I tried on some pieces at the Cartier in duty free and fell in love with the rose gold Clash ring and double bracelet. My style is very soft, so I would not have thought to try these pieces, but they are elegant and breathtaking in person. Not so spiky as I would have thought! I cannot commit to such a big purchase as the bracelet right now, but I'm tempted to buy the ring on my way home.

My exact thoughts!!!
From the pictures on the net I was sure Clash wasn't my style and I couldn't get it's success...on January I went to Cartier and I fell in love with the ring!!!

Hi DorotheaBrooke!
First of all how wonderful you are on vacation in Albania! We were there once as a port on a cruise and I thought it was a fascinating and beautiful country.
Also.. the Clash looks AMAZING on you! Love the ring and especially the bracelet. It drapes so softly on your wrist. Thanks for posting all that finery.. we all enjoyed the eye candy.:kiss2:

Yes, seeing the pieces in person makes all the difference. The way the tiny pieces move on their own and the light bounces off is really special!

I agree, Albania is fascinating and beautiful! This is my first time here, and I would definitely return in the future.

The soft bracelet is my absolute favorite. I tried on the bangle but far prefer the draping effect of the soft one, which is also so much more comfortable. I would love to own it one day.

I stopped into Cartier to look at the Clash rings- and walked out with their newly released JUC small WG diamond bracelet!
It always makes me wonder why so many pieces from VCA/Cartier/Tiffany are made YG/RG but not WG.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the diamond embellishment and the way it stacks with your VCA bracelet. Congrats and enjoy!!

Added a rose gold Ecrou this Christmas, as well as the small Trinity chain bracelet. Love them both! The Ecrou doesn’t get much publicity, but it is an amazing bracelet. The small Trinity is super light and comfortable and I have not removed it since Christmas.

Hi @Tonks
Do you still find yourself wearing the Trinity chain bracelet?
Do you wear it as part of a stack or on its own?
Thanks!

Hey, @Paisley2628 !
I’ve actually got it on now and have had it on for the past week or so. I absolutely still wear it. It is fiddly to take on and off (though I can do it by myself so not terrible) so when I have it on I treat it like a permanent bracelet and wear it 24/7.

I usually stack it. It peeks out and around bangles and I really like that!

I got really attached to this combo this week and wore it a lot.

Love it!

Thanks to the brilliant suggestion of @mustangchi , I added an extra link to my watch. I didn’t even entertain asking Cartier for help with a second hand piece, and figured they wouldn’t have an extra link for an older watch that wasn’t a popular model. Plus, after having negative experiences purchasing new pieces from VCA, I figured that Cartier would be more of the same. But they couldn’t have been nicer. They ordered me a link, serviced the watch and sent it back. Plus I got to see the 5th floor of the NYC flagship store, which is unbelievably gorgeous. So thank you, @mustangchi! You saved the day.

Glad to be of help! I am a watch nut so just tend to read about stories of watches and people having them repaired and serviced.

You've got a gorgeous vintage find there! Enjoy it so much!!

Beautiful watch! Cartier is extremely nice about ordering links for vintage watches. It takes them some time to get them sometimes (few months) but they will do it even if the watch is out of production etc. but it’s important to go to a biggish Cartier store - like how you went to the flagship - as some smaller stores may not be aware that it’s possible to order links for watches not currently in production.

FINALLY! I knew this was the bracelet for me when I tried it on at a boutique about 3 years ago, and after waiting forever it is now mine thanks to my husband & a milestone birthday :DIMG_9653.jpg

Ahhhhhh it is so perfect on you! Congrats and happy birthday!

Is it yellow gold or rose gold? You are going to absolutely love this piece.

Thank you!! Happy to join you in the JUC club :D This one is rose gold - I have been pretty much wearing it all the time, except for the rare occasions when I work out (you are both bling and lifting goals) and the more frequent occasions when I shower, lol

The color positively glows against your skin! Glad you are wearing it so much. The JUC is a wonderful piece for many reasons, but my favorite part of it is that it is comfortable, sturdy, and you can wear it anywhere. That makes for a piece you never want to remove (though you can, which is nice!).

Out of interest @Tonks (Queen of bangles!), which bracelets/bangles do you never take off?

I’ve been looking for a WG / platinum bangle and want it to be as hassle-free as the JUC. I’ve tried on nearly all the different WG bangles from various jewellery maisons but, for some reason, I don’t want to buy a second JUC in WG for “variety/diversification” purposes…

So….I actually remove all of mine to sleep. Not a 24 hour jewelry person.

The one I wear every single day, though, is the Briony Raymond Etoile bangle. Every.Single.Day. With everything. It goes with literally every other bracelet I own. It’s like the perfect neutral.

The others I rotate. Including my beloved JUC!!!

@Tonks I do love your stacks. Which of Briony Raymond diamond Etoile bracelets do you own? (The large or the classic model?)

Oh thank you so much! It’s so funny to me how my collection has gone because I used to think I didn’t like bracelets. Didn’t wear them at all, really. Turns out I just needed the right ones!

As far as the BR Etoile, mine is the large model. Here’s a thread:

Thank you @Tonks! I was wondering what to wear with my VCA white gold 5 motif pave Alhambra and I am looking for a white gold bangle. I have the yellow gold VCA Signature bangle that I wear with my VCA yellow gold Alhambra 5 motif bracelets, and I love that it is an oval as opposed to a round bangle. I don't like the white gold Signature bracelet though as it looks cheap in that white metal. Is the BR Etiole an oval shape as well? Thank you! Also I wear the medium size (17cm) in the VCA Signature bangle, my wrist is 6.5 inches, so I'm wondering if the standard size BR Etoile would fit comfortably like the VCA does in 17cm. Thanks again!

I want to know why Cartier doesn't make more platinum pieces outside of the SUPER expensive ones. I can only wear platinum and I would love a bracelet like you lovelies have.

Congratulations @SandyK, it is a beautiful bangle and RG looks amazing on you. It’s a great bangle, with heft and substance, but with some edge and uniqueness.

Oh, you have some pretty pieces, @finerthings !

Ok, yes, the BR Etoile is oval. As to sizing, my wrist is the same size as yours, but my forearm rapidly gets muscular. I also swell insanely due to autoimmune issues, and i stack. So I wear larges (18 in VCA signature bangles, 18 in a Cartier JUC. My BR bangle is a 19. I probably could have gotten away with an 18 but I will choose looser over tighter every single time. BR will send you sizers to try. My bangle is a smidge looser than the sizer.

As to wearing a bangle with a pave 5 motif….mixing bangles and chain bracelets is a really different feeling. I would just make sure you are ok with it. I’m assuming your pave is shortened so the motifs don’t flip (my onyx/pave is). That means it will go under your bangles. This really bothers some people and is totally fine with others.

Btw, I do have a signature bangle in white gold, and I love it. If you want a plain bangle with your pave 5 motif it would be beautiful.

It's because platinum and (alloyed) white gold have very different material properties! With something like the JUC - to open and close it you've got to pry it apart, you're using a fair amount of force to torque each end in different directions - platinum would deform immediately. In this use case white gold's predisposition for elastic deformation is really a necessity.

The notion that "platinum is stronger" is very common on PS, but it's a huge oversimplification, unfortunately. It's better in some usages but definitely not for everything!
