I''d love to see what PS''ers consider to be their favorite piece!

I wonder if they''ll match up with my favorites of PS''ers collections...

Mine is my Barry ruby, though I may have a new favorite soon.

Of our own, or of someone elses?

I''m guessing you mean of our own collections, right?

Mine changes over time depending on my mood and the newness of each piece, but right now it''s my JKT green gold and silver ring with my Peter Torraca Asscher-cut prasiolite. I''ve only uploaded one pic of it now, since I was planning on putting more up after PS2.0 comes online...

Mine would definitely be my star sapphire set by James Meyer. Not subtle at all!

Uppy, I do miss your star sapphire avatar!

<-------- Just for you, VL!

Oh, thank you! Your first few posts after you changed it I didn''t realize were yours at first. That is one special ring.

Very pretty rings!

I intended to start the thread to post pictures of our favorite rings from our own collections, but it might be fun to also name our favorites from another PS'ers collection. I'll start: Kismet's LM demantoid and BEG's JW cushion tourmaline ring. I love both.

I like everything new, so at this moment, my tsavorite ring is my favorite one.

Of other people, Pandora''s demantoid ring comes to mind (BTW, where is she?).

If we''re talking others'' pieces, mine is Art Nouveau''s mahenge set by Leon. Well, all of Art''s collection, honestly!

Its not a piece yet, but will be soon! I have saved up 1/2 of the costs. I rematched all of my higher quality paraiba tourmalines, and designed a necklace that is makeable. They will all be bezel set in white gold. HOPEFULLY will have it made by the end of the year. 50ish cts.

Oops!!!!

RH - That is going to be amazing - come to think of it, forget the ''going to be'', it already is amazing!

RockHugger - you rock! When I joined the PS, you just started buying stones and many of them, frankly, were not of good quality. I never said it at that time just to support you, but I am amazed at the speed of your growth. You are taking classes, you learned excellent gem photography, you collected wonderful stones...even made some money in the process since you are thinking of pricier setting. Congratulations, you are developing into a fine and knowledgeable collector!

Rockhugger,

I signed in just for you. How wonderful that necklace is going to be. The colors are so well put together. I can''t wait to see the piece finished. Good luck with it.

Thanks,

Annette

aw thank you for the kind words. I cant wait to have it finished. I think it will make an OUTSTANDING grocery store necklace! LOL

It''s not mine but it''s my favorite! Babyblue''s Umbalite Garnet - hope she doesn''t mind my posting it.

RH - I just adore the idea you have there!

I was in Cartier in Paris a few weeks ago, and they have an amazing prong set multi-gem necklace much like what you''re planning, but with much less precious and unique gems. I must say, I contemplated saving all of my stones and arranging them in such a way, but I don''t think it would nearly be as impactful as your piece will be. I will be watching your project with strong interest!

haha I only actually have 1, so right now I can only say my ering. But, I think when my 3 stone is done, that will be my favorite.

Of all PS, I have too many! I''d have to go back thru the whole eye candy thread and take notes! Babyblue''s ring that was already posted, Big Blue, Cell''s supernova pendant w/the chipped culet..just off the top of my head.

RH that made me gasp and say "Oh my"-I can''t wait to see it complete!! I can''t imagine seeing someone out and about wearing something like that-I''d be shoving people out of the way to see it..or I''d turn to stare and run into a pole.

Of our own, or of someone elses?

I was just going to say my favorite stone piece is a spinel necklace once owned by Shah Jihan.

I''ll try to find the link I read about it.

Unbelievably to me it sold on the private market for I think I remember a little over a million dollars. Imho it''s priceless and it should be in a museum.

My favorite color piece(s) at PS are Catmom''s saphhire suite (paruve?

). Fit for royalty!

And I agree with this. Wow!

The 62.02 carat Rockefeller sapphire, considered to be one of the finest Burmese sapphires ever. I love the simple Art Deco setting by jeweler Raymond Yard. This is one of my favorites, and a Burmese ruby ring owned by Elizabeth Taylor, but I can''t find an online photo of that. I remember the first time I saw this piece, I was just mesmerized.

Chrono's red spinel heirloom takes my breath away:

eta - In the photo I have of this necklace, the spinels more beautiful

I think this is the one you're referring to? 3 of the spinels on this necklace are inscribed with dates as far back as 1607 and the names of Jahangir & Shah Jahan although the diamond and pearl mount is 18th century. It's a magnificent piece.
