Of our own, or of someone elses?

I was just going to say my favorite stone piece is a spinel necklace once owned by Shah Jihan.

I''ll try to find the link I read about it.

Unbelievably to me it sold on the private market for I think I remember a little over a million dollars. Imho it''s priceless and it should be in a museum.

My favorite color piece(s) at PS are Catmom''s saphhire suite (paruve?

). Fit for royalty!
eta - In the photo I have of this necklace, the spinels more beautiful

I think this is the one you''re referring to? 3 of the spinels on this necklace are inscribed with dates as far back as 1607 and the names of Jahangir & Shah Jahan although the diamond and pearl mount is 18th century. It''s a magnificent piece.
I''m sure they thought those were rubies back then. Nice piece.

Here we go, pretty nice ruby for a spinel, encrusted with centuries of inscriptions, a patina of ego, silent witness to many crimes of history.

My favorite piece is FacetFire''s purple spinel ring. I tried uploading the picture here but it didn''t work

That''s the beautiful Garrard necklace for Queen Victoria and it had another spinel at the clasp. If the British hadn''t colonized India what on earth would they have done for crown jewels?

Here you go...

For me, that ranks very high up there as far as Pricescoper owned pieces are concerned. I don''t think we ever found out where she got that ravishing spinel, but it''s one of my favorites here.

Oh that IS nice. I'd not seen that before.

Thank you sooo much, klewis! I was hoping someone would help.

That stone really is beautiful. Such a pretty color and a good size. I read through her thread on it hoping to discover where she got it but all she mentions is that her mother bought her the stone. Oh well...

for reasons of personal and emotional investment the ring I am currently making is my favorite, as irrational and non quality based as it is. I have begun refining the overall shape and started to make the seat for the stone. In the picture the metal had been freshly annealed and I dropped the stone into the seat for a look. Still, there is sooo much more to do. It will never rank with the other pieces in this thread, but for me personally it will be as special.
Oh yeah, it''s a tsavorite. remember I had said it would be a minty grossular? Um.... I changed my mind

Yes! Thank you.

LIB''s grape jelly spinel, and someone posted a JM 3 stone like Uppy''s but w/a green sapph center in the bezel thread in SMTB a while back but I can''t remember who it was.

Wow, VL, that ring is already looking beautiful. You really must be proud of it. I love the hammered look of the metal and the shape and color of the stone. I can''t wait to see the finished product.

This is my favorite, vintage emerald and diamond ring. Was hallmarked Graff.

Bumping this thread because I love it. I hope more will share their favorite beauties. I have nothing to add yet because all my gemstones were purchased in ignorance many moons ago.

I love both of Tsavvy''s rings, but her recent one from James Meyer has my heart!

Another jewelery piece I''m absolutely smitten by is Ellen''s grandmother''s aqua. Sadly, I don''t know how to post the picture here... any chance someone could help me out?

Thank you, Lauren!

I really love Kroshka''s colored diamonds, she has some very rare and valuable colors there. See page 3 of that thread for a fancy yellow-green.
