Help!!! So yesterday the BF let the cat out of the bag that while we are in Nantucket he booked us this gorgeous old sailboat to go for a sunset booze cruise. As soon as he told me he did this I was floored, bc I knew exactly which boat it was and he really went above and beyond! I''m so excited, but I am trying not to get too excited in case this isn''t when he plans on popping the big question.

That being said, what if it is!!!???!!! I want to have the perfect dress, so I nedd some help!

We both love all things nautical so anything along those lines would be fantastic. It also needs to be something nice enough to wear out to a great dinner later. I like short dresses and strapy or strapless dresses. I don''t like the whole oversized dress craze that is all the rage now, not so good on me! So preferably something more fitted, and I love blue, all shades of it! I also love pattern but the bf doesn''t as much, so if it is a pattern it should be somewhat tame... Oh and I should add that I''m a 0-2 and over 5''7", just so you have a size reference!

I''d love some help here bc I really want to feel ready and gorgeous in case the moment occurs! Thanks in advance for any ideas you gals may have!

crooked, do you have a BCBG near by? I love some of their stuff. Anthropology is another one of my favorite places for sundresses...Diane von Furstenberg makes some fab dresses too.

I do have a BCBG close... I was just there the other day and didn''t see anything that would fit. I have a problem with dresses that zip from them bc the fit perfect everywhere but the chest...

I have never bought anything from Anthropologie but I am going to give them a shot bc there is one about 5 mins away from me. And I love DVF, so I will look into that too!
Thanks for the suggestion Mrs.S!!!

How fun! J Crew has summer seer-sucker stuff, cute little jackets, dresses, things like that.

Good luck, I hope you're right!

ETA: Shoot, they don't have them this season! They used to do This dress in seersucker, usually in blue, yellow and pink. Boo. They do have capris/jackets though.

I second Anthropology. I saw some really cute dresses there last week.

How do you look in red? I like this red halter from ABS at Saks for $145. You could add a shawl.

I also vote for Anthropologie. I just bought two summery dresses with my July trip to Hawaii in mind - it''s a little overpriced, but not to the point that it dissuades me from shopping there. (And I''m 5''9" and usually size 4).

Ann Taylor Loft has some great outfits...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Perfectpear~ That''s a pretty dress! Probably a lil conservative for me so the bf would know something was up! LOL But good fin, good price!

Alexis~ Thanks for the suggestion! I haven''t been in an AT for a long time... Are they still pretty conservative?

Sarah~ Thanx for all the links! I love the Calvin Klein pleated dress and the orange Jrew one. I think it would look great in yellow with the blue rope as the belt. I will def go try that one on! I don''t really have a budget but if could keep under 200-250 I would be happy. But at the same time I don''t care if it''s from Old Navy so long as it looks cute!

Ok, here are my picks.

David Meister I've been seriously in love with his stuff recently. A little over your price range but gorgeous!
DVF
Milly This is SUPER cute. But not sure how you feel about green!
Hale I love this...I may have to go get this myself!

Let me know if I'm going in the right direction...if not I'll try again!

ETA: one more. Could be GORGEOUS...Anthropologie

you think he''s going to pop the question on a booze cruise?!!!

And, anyone recommending BCBG or Antropoligie has obviously never been to Nantucket. ;) Lilly Pulitzer and / or Vineyard Vines is the only approproitate attire for the island. There is an In The Pink store on Nantucket, or pick up a cute Lilly dress before hand...

ETA:
Love this Lilly dress (FI from last summer)... Sexy and perfect for Nantucket.

Nope, never been to Nantucket.

I''m not that cultured I suppose.

Hehe. I do like the Lily dress though.

I''ve always been more of an OBX or SoCal kind of girl.

Haha... Nantucket / Martha''s Vineyard are SUPER New England preppy. Having lived in Newport Beach for a year and having grown up in Mass / Cape Cod, I can tell you things are very different... haha

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would go with anthropologie. I have 2 near me, and both of them only carry about half the stuff on the website, so I would seriously recommend you check it as well as any B&M stores. I saw quite a few things you might like there.

have you been to Nantucket? I think the Anthropologie is way out of place for there...

I''m just trying to help... Everyone seems to be recomending great dresses, without putting much thought into the environment... There''s a reason the world''s top designers are all males... haha, I''m kidding. ;)

I read about Nantucket, but she is being proposed to, not Nantucket. If it were me, I would want a dress that was my style and looked good on me and it doesn''t sound like she is preppy. I agree about dressing for the locale, but there is a reason we have all suggested anthropologie. It is cut very well, their clothes last, even on sail boats, they are very classic and I had fit in fine in their clothes when I was in Paris, Rome, Barcelona, etc.

All males? Huh. I could list quite a few top designers who are female. It''s nice that you are considering the environment in which the OP may be receiving a marriage proposal, but when you reply back to almost every post with a "NO, it CANNOT be Anthropologie, it MUST be Lily P., etc." it''s a little off-putting to say the least.
2.gif

sna, you are being kind of sassy!
3.gif
I am FAR from hippie but found many dresses at Anthropology that I would love for special occasions. I still stand by my suggestion.

I was TOTALLY kidding. Sorry it didn''t come across better... Have you seen how most men dress? They are hopeless... I thought this was obvious, so hence the joke... Oh well...

And I actually like Anthropologie too--just a bit too casual IMHO for Nantucket... And I never said it had to be Lilly...

Actually, I wish the OP would write back... I think she''s off on the proposal... What guy would propose on a booze cruise??! Actually, I know some that might... scary...

What''s wrong with a booze cruise? It''s a boat and there''s alcohol and crookedrock''s excited. Why are you spinning this negatively?

I am not trying to be negative! Nothing is wrong with a booze cruise! Who doesnt love a booze cruise??! Do you want to get proposed to in a spring break atmosphere? Maybe its just me, but I thought women loved romance for proposals--walks on the beach, sunsets, romantic moments etc... The OP was guessing when her FI might propose... I think the booze cruise was not it... thats all...

Does this look romantic??
