So, who are the lucky owners of Gene's newly cut stones?
All stones have now been sold.

Who got seduced by the sky blue sapphire?

_30951.jpg

Who is the owner of the deeply mysterious red zircon?

_30952.jpg

Juicy as a mandarin... Who owns the spess garnet?

_30953.jpg

How special it must be to wear an emerald!!

_30955.jpg

Talking about yellow! Who has acquired the sunny Danburite?

_30956.jpg

Not me.

Of all the ones listed, I like the emerald the most.

DK :))

I passed. :))

Me too. Anxious to hear who got what tho!

I liked all, especially the emerald, green is my favourite gemstone colour.

Who else was on the Periscope "visit" to Gene's house? :wavey: :wavey:

It was cool to see where he worked, and we got to peek at some rough :naughty: I would have liked to see even more rough, because there are so many stones I haven't seen in RL. Danburite turned out to be nicer than I thought it would be.

I had to use DD's phone because mine is too old for Periscope. I enjoyed it, but I'm in the boonies so the connection kept dropping. DD helped me, so easy to get it right back.

He picked out a big piece of garnet rough and dopped it. We'll see it being cut next time. There were, I think, 8 of us, so plenty of time to ask questions. It was nice to have them answered in real time. His cutting room is very tidy, which is what you would expect from Gene. :)

Very cool, if you didn't make it last time, you should try to "attend" the next one. We've been promised a peek at his dog. :appl:

Gene's drops are typically in the middle of the night here so I always miss out! I would love to see the sapphire, emerald and spess. Hopefully a PSer snagged them!

During the Periscope visit, Gene addressed that specifically: he mentioned that the reason his drops are at different times is because he's trying to be fair to his overseas clients. For instance, this last one was at 12:35 Eastern time, so early afternoon here, rather than the usual Sunday night.

Hi iLander - I was on the Periscope broadcast. I was the one asking the technical questions like "Which one is the C axis" I agree that the Danburite rough he showed was beautiful. A pure yellow with no green or brown. I had some trouble in the beginning of the broadcase becuase it didn't seem like my questions were being seen but somehow I got it working.

It was a great experience. I was suprised at the quality of the broadcast. Felt short to me. I could have looked at that rough and asked questions for a lot longer

Speaking from experience with international conference calls, the best time that we found for all offices (China, Thailand, India, Middle East, Africa, Europe, US, Latin America) was 10am US Eastern time. It's 9am in Mexico city and 10pm in Beijing. For Europe, Africa, India and Middle East, it's some time during the day. (only difficulty would be if we had Aus or New Zealand on the call, as it's 5 hours ahead of Beijing so it would be the middle of the night, but it would be a reasonable time for everyone else.
.)

I prefer the timing of Barry's drops which are at 9am China time. :)

Haha please don't suggest your first alternative to Gene, otherwise I'll miss out on all the drops!

Barry's timing works for me too! 11am Melbourne time!

Sorry, first time posting a pic in a thread and didn't get all the info in.

I received an email from Gene saying that I got the emerald from the drop!!! The funny thing is that I had sworn off trying to get something from the drops a few weeks back. :wall: I have been looking for over a year and never thought I would have the timing to get anything. Anyhow, I am really excited as this is my first gemstone purchase!!! :appl:

Cute picture of the dog. But please don't feel guilty. You don't want anything detracting from the joy of a new gem. Just make sure to take pictures and share.

Congrats! That's great news!! You have acquired a beautiful and coveted stone. And for a first time purchase! Any ideas on how to set it?

I got the Danburite from Gene's drop. I am not familiar with Danburites but have long admired the elongated Danburite. I feel so lucky to have found a round.

Good advice! I will just try to focus on the excitement and joy of acquiring my first PS gemstone purchase. I have never photographed a gemstone, but will try my best. I understand green is a very difficult color to photograph. I will probably be checking the mail ten times a day!

Thank you! I am still in shock! I feel so appreciative of the opportunity to receive such a beautiful stone for a first time purchase. I really am excited to see how it looks in person. I just happened to look on Gene's page so I took a leap of faith and went for it. I didn't have time to think on how it could be set, but I am hoping that PSers will help me with that? Am I correct in thinking that a pendant would be more protective than a ring setting?

Congratulations on the Danburite! I am very excited for you! (Especially since I started catching up on your other yellow stone thread this morning) I love that you got the danburite in a round! Any ideas on how you will set it? You have such amazing taste in settings and stones so I can't wait to see what you will do with it! So happy for you! :appl:

Congrats Rockinruby! Please share photos when it arrives!

Thank you Rockingruby!

A pendant would be relatively safer compared to a ring if you make sure the chain is relatively short.
PSers can indeed suggest settings and vendors based on your inspiration settings and requirements.
Personally, I wish I could add an emerald like yours to my collection one day   A girl can dream!
Happy waiting Rockingruby!

Thank you for the info. A pendant does sound safer although I try to be very careful with what I wear. I like the recommendation of the shorter chain. I hadn't thought of that aspect. Good advice!

I would love to see what shape & size emerald you might ever add to your stunning collection! Your stones are just amazing! I spent last night catching up on your other threads. I must say that I don't like this "big ban" you have coming up! How am I supposed to keep drooling over your lovely gemstones and projects? You have such a wonderful eye for stones. I appreciate your kind words though about the emerald especially coming from you! :wavey:

I got the sapphire. It came in the mail today. blue_saph2.jpg

I was hoping it would be the sort of blue I would love to have a blue diamond in, and it is so I'm quite happy:) I think it's darker in person than the glamour shot, but lighter IRL than my snapshot.

It's a gorgeous mysterious blue, and with the precision cutting it should pretty sparkly. Congratulations. :appl:
