lovin...we have bumpy sidewalks here because of trees growing or whatever and a lot of the sidewalk ''tiles'' aren''t even so the SNG totally won''t go over a smallish uneven raised tile in a sidewalk, it just hits and sticks and totally jolts the kid! so i have to basically keep picking it up and moving it over rough sidewalks. it''s easier to walk in the street, but then the asphalt is bumpy too though at least it doesn''t wake him up from a nap! if your streets are better or sidewalks are all even you should be fine.

whereas my friend with the BOB would just go over the sidewalk bumps no prob. i think for our streets any non real tire will stick on the sidewalks which made me think to just get a basic BOB for cheap for walks...which is why i am like jeez $100...do i care if it swivels wheels?

oobie...yeah there are a lot of BOBS on CL but most are pricey! and my friend said most of the ones she sees people want crazy amts for them. if i am going to pay $250 i''ll just pay $300 or whatever and get it new at REI with coupons. so for $100 i thought well maybe i dont need the wheel. just trying to figure it out.

mustang...i''ll ask my friend again about the swivel wheel to see if it bothers her...she did have to lean on it to pick up front wheel when we went onto curbs but it seemed really easy compared to me having to actually LIFT the SNG manually...ugh!
Mara, 2005 BOB does not recline to the degree (70) that the 2007 and later BOBs do. You won''t be able to use it with J until quite a bit later since he won''t be able to hold his head up properly.

As to the swivel wheel, it''s a deal breaker for me, but that''s just me. You may not find the fixed wheel annoying at all, and for $100 it would do the job. But one of the key joys of my BOB is the manueverability, and that''s only possible because of the swivel wheel. It''s not only going up curb, but it''s anything less than a gradual changing of direction. So say you walk across the street and then have to go across again - with the revolution, you just turn the stroller with a flick of a wrist. With the non swivel, you have to pick up the front wheel and turn the stroller 90 degrees. It''s probably not a big deal in the scheme of things, and might be worth the $200 savings - hard to say. But I will say, knowing you a bit and how active you enjoy being, the BOB is something you will use for a fair bit and I honestly think it''s a worthwhile investment. I''ll be using it to trip to the Zoo, Disney (possibly, since it''s a pain to take it on the tram), and any day long excursion.

Get thee to a REI or a store that carries them and stick your baby in one. Even if you use it for 2 years, it''s worth the $300 investment.

Ditto all of this. The fixed wheel would be a deal breaker for me as well. Plus if you get the fixed wheel you will need to get the second stroller, whereas the swivel wheel would allow you to use it places other than on long walks and so you (depending on your lifestyle and preferences) you may be able to get by with just the BOB. We''re able to right now, although I think I''m the only one on here who hasn''t gotten an umbrella or something light to go with it.

Hospital gowns etc - I just wore sweat pants and yoga pants with tank tops immediately post-partum, and it was fine with me. But if you do that, plan on needing something that would fit you at approx 5 months pregnant - your belly will be that swollen for a little while.

Oobicoo - this is random and something that you won''t need-need for a while, but new books are kinda pricey whereas you can often buy them for like $1 each used if you look enough. So classic kids books that you wouldn''t mind reading again and again and again could be something to look for. I''d say clothing as well, but hold off until after the shower for that. People love to buy itsy bitsy clothes. We got a sleep sheep, exersaucer, and playmat second hand, and they were useful. But again, not sure how much of that you''ll get at the shower.

So how is the running quality with the Bob's that have the swivel/fixed option? These stroller things are starting to enter my periphery. I too have rough sidewalks and was actually thinking that a rinky-dink stoller like the snap and go might not be so useful for the neighborhood walks. And you can't run with the little ones when they are too little, but can you walk with them in your Bob or other jogging stroller? With the carseat adapter thingy or will a infant support thingy work OK?

cara, the BOB is one of the few "jogging" strollers that is actually safe to run with (think the baby has to be 6 months). You are suppose to have a fixed wheel when you run. The revolution''s front wheel can be fixed or swivel.

Mara, I think real tires are the key for bumpy/uneven sidewalks/roads. I had a thread awhile ago on finding a three wheeled (I think they ride smoother), real tire w/ a swivel front wheel awhile ago for $200. I ended up just paying more (TGal enabled me) to just get something I knew I would love and use. The nice thing is resale is good if you think about buying it for $300, using it for 3 years (give or take) and reselling it for $150+ that is not a bad investment.

I guess I should have been a little more clear - I presume that the fixed-only jogging strollers are better for running, this is why they exist? So if you are going to get say a Bob with the fixed/swivel option, how does that do for running relative to the specialist running stroller with the permanently fixed wheel? Do any of you Bob owners use the Bob for running?

While running w/ Bebe seems a looong way off at this point, I''m trying to think ahead a bit. If the swivel wheel Bob, when fixed, is a perfectly good jogging stroller than it seems a good purchase for us as it would presumably be useful for walks and other things as well. But if it makes a poor jogging stroller that you can kind of get by with if you have to, then maybe we would consider a more versatile everyday stroller and get a proper jogger when the time comes.

thanks ladies... i appreciate all the comments. i just got another response and it's been sold so oh well!! good point though if you use it for 2+ years or similar that it's worth it. i just don't want to be having 500 strollers!!

and blen we can't use it as our 'main' stroller because it won't fit in the trunk of our main car with the carseat, plus most people who have them tell me they wouldn't want to use them as a main stroller anyway as they are too big for good maneuverability. then again we have the SNG as a lend as the main for now, so we can give that back in a few months. IDEALLY i'd like to just get ONE stroller that is useful for ALL. which i had hoped the city jogger mini would be since it fits all the bills but the real tires, but after that walk i thought well not having real tires then the ride prob would be similar to the SNG for the walk...so not a fan of that for J...it's just too bumpy for him. i felt SO bad every time he got jolted and his eyes look like WTF MOM.
3.gif

maybe BOB for walks, the SNG til he can use an umbrella would be enough for us. i'd hate to spend the $220 on the Mini or another similar stroller and find it is still lacking... so funny because i can spend $100 or $150 on shoes or way more on a purse no problem but for strollers i am like $220 REALLY ARE YOU SERIOUS??

good point on the BOB resale value too... i will def want to sell it when done since we won't want to store it. thanks ladies!

cara what i read about the fixed vs swivel was if you are a runner then people preferred fixed vs swivel. we wouldn't run with it, just walk.

Ok, to jump on the Boon talk- HELP.

I know all of the raves for the Boon- I''ve had my eye on it forever now, and have read all of your recs for it (thanks Tacori!).

BUT a friend also recommended the Stokke Classic Tripp Trapp. The Tripp Trapp turns into a regular chair for babies/toddlers/kids.

http://www.csnbaby.com/Stokke-144406-SKK1454.html

Just can''t figure out what we NEED and what the pros/cons of the two above would be. Right now we have a small kitchen that we will never eat in, and a relatively nice dining room. So I anticipate that the highchair would stay in the kitchen for now (so Boon). BUT the Tripp Trapp can be pulled up to a table and turns into a regular chair so would be useful later on.

I guess for those that have BTDT, any reviews for the Tripp Trapp? Anyone see any negatives about the TT that I am not seeing?

Oh and you can buy a plastic tray for the TT (expensive, but practical).

Oh, and let''s leave price out of it for discussion purposes.

I was all set to buy the Boon today (thanks Natalina for the sale tip!) and now I''m confused.
China - I love the Tripp Trapp (was my 1st choice, but DH loved the Bloom so we got that). I have the Stokke stroller and cot and can say that the quality of their products is superb.

DH''s cousins have the TT for their kids and even the adults sit on them. I''ve also use it for Daisy in a couple of restaurants and she''s been really comfortable. You can get extra bits for smaller babies and cushions etc for each stage.

Over here it''s pretty easy to pick them up on eBay, but don''t know if that''s the case in the USA.

Anyway, just wanted to give the TT a big thumbs up!

heya! For those who asked about the BOB stroller and running -

I have the Bob revolution with the fixed / swivel wheel option and I am a serious runner. I run with it swiveling. For some reason, many serious runners like a jogger with the wheels locked in place, but I don''t. I have run literally hundreds of miles with my son this year, and we use the swivel wheel and we are both quite happy with it. I also like the swivel wheel feature for out and about. It would drive me nuts not to have the swivel wheel.

Yes, it''s a rather big stroller for taking to the mall or a restaurant, but I rarely use it for that. We walk or jog nearly ever day and I could not do either very well without the BOB. For me, totally worth it.

Of all the baby products I have, I''d say BOB is one of the few that was worth every penny and MORE. Love it.

Ok Mara. I think I misread what you were saying and that makes much more sense. Is there any way that you could borrow your friends just to see how you do with a fixed wheel? One of the things that I love about the BOB is that it is so easy to steer one-handed, which also comes in handy when I''m walking dog(s) with George in tow.

Running with BOB - did it today. I''m no longer a serious runner due to injuries, but I love going out for a quick run now and then and it does the job really well. I usually leave the wheel as a swivel, although I know you''re not supposed to. Fixed wheel is a little bit more stable, which is good when you''re taking rough ground at quick speeds. I think that part of the reason why fixed wheel only running strollers are still on the market is because the design is a bit simpler and so they can charge less. I have no regrets about spending the money on the BOB Revolution though.

just a psa: the svan highchair is on sale at mamabargains for $152

normal retail os $260. i''ve never seen it this low. it has pretty good reviews and my friend who has it loves it. unfort its not available for this price in expresso, which would have been my choice, but for this price i can suck it up and not be matchy matchy

DH and I are on the hunt for a reasonably priced stroller. I went to BBB a few days ago and loved the City Micro and City Mini. The Mini is about as high as I''d like to go for this type of stroller. Does anyone own one of these or have any other suggestions that I may not have seen there? I''m 5''11" and DH is 6''2" so height is a big concern for comfort. I''d like to get rid of both strollers we have (huge older full size and a old Chicco umbrella that is way too short) and be able to just have the one. We are in the burbs and will be using the stroller mostly for walks and going to the zoo, mall etc. P is 14 months and we plan to have one more so I do like the fact that we can attach the baby seat when #2 does arrive. DH is clueless that strollers can cost as much as they do so he''s having a tough time biting the bullet but I''m the one that''ll be using it the majority of the time and I want something better then what we''ve got. Thanks for any input!

Loves2Laugh - my husband and i are torn between the city mini and the bugaboo bee for our stroller. husband''s choice is the city mini. he''s 6'' and it fits him. one draw back for me on the city mini is that the handlebar isn''t adjustable. it''s not a problem for him, but i''m 5'' so the bar is a little high. the folding mechanism for the city mini rocks, though. and the price is pretty nice too considering how expensive some of the strollers out there are.

i gotta say having seen the city mini''s folding action in person, it made me want to buy it on the spot.

it''s my top pick for a small lightweight full size having seen a ton in person. BUTTTTT as i posted a few days ago in this thread, on bumpy streets and stuff i dont think it will be great for us, so we''ll prob get a walking stroller like the BOB and then an umbrella for later when he is bigger (right now we have a lent SNG).

but if it wasn''t for our lumpy bumpy sidewalks i would totally still be loving the city mini. it''s 17lbs too...you seriously cannot beat that if you have tried lifting 25-30 lb strollers then this 17 lb''er. sold. hmm writing this now i''m torn again.

Mara, go with REAL tires. You won''t regret it

I looooooooooooooove my BOB!!!

I can maneuver it with one hand (with two babies in it!). It''s SO smooth! I go over bumps and it''s seriously like nothing!. It''s just an amazing stroller!. It was very expensive (like $650 I think)...but my dad gave it to us and it''s really the best gift we received!!!...so it was worth it :)

I''ve only go running with them twice, and I also liked the wheel in the swivel (not fixed) position. I think the fixed position makes it hard to steer. I don''t even know how you steer it???. And yeah, I''m not running 6 mi/hour on rough paths so I think the swivel is just fine!.

Mara, I also didn''t want to end up with a ton of strollers, but I love to walk at night with our dog...and I love to run. Even though they were other strollers that I thought were cuter/easier to fold, etc...I just went with what I knew would matter at the end!. I never really take the BOB to run errands, but I walk with it everywhere though!. I only take it with us in the car if we''re going for a "day" out (like the zoo, a park, etc)

Right now I have the BOB and the double snap and go. I just ordered a Maclaren for our lightweight option ($199 on sale on diapers.com...which is a great deal for a double Maclaren!)...and will be retiring the snap and go! It''s just so hard to steer, I''m done with it!

thanks ladies, i just signed up for REI's newsletter for the 15% but not sure if it is on BOBs? i thought it was 20% but i guess not.

tacori i think you are right re: the tires... even if we don't take the BOB too many places, it makes sense to have something rugged. and then we can give back the SNG and get a lightweight umbrella in a few months.

Mara, I don''t think the single BOB is that unruly. I take it to the zoo, mall, farmers market...I have taken it for air travel. The front wheel does pop off so maybe it would fit in your trunk then? I am SO glad that I finally bought one and only wish I had given in soon. The 20% is for their "member sale." Not sure how many times a year they do it but they let me use it. Now all you have to decide is the color

Attention pampers lovers!

Swaddlers now come in sizes...wait for it....3 and 4!

Reviews have not been populated as of yet. One mom on another board was able to find it in her local stores and she says they feel exactly like the newborn swaddlers. They're the sensitive brand so I don't know if that is any different.

Here are the links:

Size 3

Size 4

I know I have a coupon for BRU that says if you buy 2 boxes of the dry max, you get a $20 gift card. However, I don't know if this coupon applies only to cruisers or if it can be used on the swaddlers. I'm hoping it can because if so, I'm going to get two size 4 boxes and use the GC towards her car seat

. Anyway, if you are signed up for BRU coupons then you should have received the same promotion.

I'm excited to try it out. I love swaddlers and the size 4 go up to 37lbs so she'll be in them for a while

.

ETA: Just saw that if you purchase 2 boxes online, you get a free $10 e-card

Any ladies that are in the Massachusetts area...HH said she picked up an UppaBaby Vista at the Hingham, factory store. I called today and they have the 2009 Vista''s for $350 which is one heck of a deal since they usually go for that used on CL.

Thank you so much for your replies! I just wanted to make sure for the money that I wasn''t overlooking something else out there that might be better. If our budget was bigger, I totally would be looking at some of the other strollers, as I''ve heard how much they rock. Jcrow, I can see where being 5'' would be an issue with the mini. I''m surprised more strollers don''t come with adjustable handlebars.

LovestoLaugh - I bought this stroller for my SIL. I gave it a test drive before handing it over
2.gif
, and I really liked it. Folded up really small, but had a large presence when opened. And you can stick a Graco Snugride on it, so you wouldn''t really need a SnG. It had suspension too, so I think it would have been fine for neighborhood walks.

i thought i posted this earlier but it must be mommy brain.

can the mommies recommend a good overnight diaper? we use sensitive swaddlers which historically have been great but since they changed them (we just got a new box this week), i noticed the new ones seem thinner and we had a night time leak for the first time in 7 weeks with them. and the elastic seems more loose around the legs.

i have heard some moms think huggies work, any specifics on what type of huggies, or any other recommends?

Just to expand on this - I know you (Mara) said that it doesn''t fit in the trunk of your car, but it fits in the passenger seat of mine as well as the back seat (with carseat in back of course). It would obviously be a PITA to put it in like that for just going out on a day to day basis, but you may still be able to take it with you if you want to spend the day at the zoo or hiking etc.

I''m now wondering if I have exceptionally short arms or something. I want to like the City Mini, but that''s yet another where I keep kicking the wheels and just can''t deal with the non-adjustable handlebars. I''ve been blaming it on the fact that I''m 5''10.5", but if 6ft tall people can deal with it, then maybe something else is going on.

What size is he in now?

Have you tried the regular swaddlers? Yes, the sensitive swaddlers are now with baby dry and they removed the mesh. Still better than cruisers but not better than the original (non-sensitive) swaddlers.

Fiery we used the Swaddlers Baby when we came home from hospital as that is what they used...they were fine actually. We just liked Sensitive since they were hypoallergenic. But yeah I don''t know if we''ll keep using them--we''ll have to see how things go the next few weeks. Are the regular Swaddlers still the same?

He''s in size 1 right now, 8-14 lbs but I could see him moving to 2 within about a month if not a little less.

Mara maybe you should try size 1/2. I have used Huggies overnights b/c pampers didn''t have them when I was looking for them. The overnight diapers are thicker.

Mara, I would either size up on the Pampers or use Huggies Overnights although I''m not sure what their smallest size is. We love the Huggies Overnights but they aren''t available in all stores which is kind of annoying. We can only get them at BRU, Target or Rite Aid near us.

thanks Ladies... ! Tacori what is size 1/2?

i'll check out the Huggies Overnights and maybe get a small pack at BRU to try out. we love the Swaddlers in general (though also it seems like they changed the 'scent' and now it's really acidic and kind of smells like barf to me haha)... but just not sure they'll work for us overnight anymore.

ETA...HO comes in smallest size 3, for 16+lbs...so guess we'll wait til J is a few more lbs before trying, maybe we'll do the Swaddlers in a size larger for now.

Mara, pampers swaddlers come in in-between sizes (size 1-2, and size 2-3). So if J is not quite a size 2 but growing out of size 1, then you can try size 1-2. I think that''s what Tacori means.

I''d try the bigger sizes too (but that''s because I''m a Pampers lover
3.gif
). Huggies makes pure & natural which I loved as well. They were soft like swaddlers. You can try those maybe?
