TL, I sent her a pic of the stone head on, and the dimensions. My local guy set it. It was easier/safer than shipping across the border. She might set outside stones?

kgizo, I'll check on the prongs. Or flush your question out of my mind, so my OCD won't kick in every time I look at it, if one is less pointy.

Well if it was going to be an oval for you, it had to be a stunner...it looks superb. The hue of it is awesome, and the cut accentuates the open vibrant color. The setting really does showcase the stone very well. You set the bar rather high NKOTB! Well done!

I didn't realize that Juliab did that without the stone in hand. She made the setting and sent it to you and you in turn took it to your to a local jewelers and had them set it? Wow, I didn't realize the risk involved. That makes me even more impressed with its outcome.

I came back because I love this ring. NKOTB, would you be okay with my using this setting for my red spinel (in my avatar)? My stone is smaller, so it will not look as nice, but this is definitely one of the best settings I have seen for an oval. It reminds me of the McTeigue & McClelland setting in the best way, but I cannot afford a M&M setting.
