I never spend any money on myself (although I did just get a new camera, but I''m talking more ''fashion'' stuff). Part of me thinks I should. *sigh*

I wouldn''t say that....didn''t you get the DSLR for Amelia?
41.gif

Yup, FOR Amelia. Hee hee. But as I said, I meant more for fashion stuff. Haven''t bought anything nice for my appearance in a long loooooong time. It has to do with my current size...even shoes are uncomfy.
20.gif

ETA, I did splurge on myself bigtime, btw. I''ll post more about it when I receive the item.

Sounds sparkley.....Don''t leave us hanging!

Blah! I broke down. I am no longer making her costume. I found the cutest at the mall today (cheap too) so I had to have it. Pictures to come tomorrow! Lili yelled at me b/c I forgot to let you ladies know there are additional pumpkin patch pics in my "who''s who." *runs and hides* Sorry mommies!

Janine, happy baby means you are doing something right. I do think babies (as well as adults) have general fussiness/crankiness. Good luck with the move! We use(d) enfamil. Better rebate checks.
2.gif
T always had a pin head. I will be curious what her stats are at her one year appointment next week.

Curly, I know I am not looking forward to the public displays. Poor Lily. She is just adjusting to not being your entire world anymore. I think I will do generic formula next time too. Hope Lucy has a good appointment!

snlee, glad your doctor clarified some stuff. I was nursing too often as well. He MUST learn to soothe himself but as I said before bad habits don''t form at D''s age. I enjoyed the mall w/o T but the mom guilt did kick in.

iluv, I know I am in *trouble*
32.gif

TGal, can''t wait to see your new indulgence!

2.gif

Nah, your not in trouble. Just means you have a normal kid!

Wait until you do something *horrible* like make her sit in the shopping cart or say "No, we can''t Build a Bear right now.." We used to have the "un-cooperative chair".....
Ignoring is the best thing. They''d finish, and I''d say "All done? Good, let''s go" It''s a stage, just not always a fun one. Nothing you can''t handle Tacori!
35.gif

snlee glad to hear that D''s appt went well. i am still nursing B and plan to for at least another few months or until i dry up. i am hoping that i will be able to nurse until he''s at least 1, so just about another month or so. when you pump, you won''t get very much the first few times just because the pump isn''t as efficient as D''s suckle. but keep at it and it will increase more each time. the first time i pumped, i got barely an ounce, but i kept t it and was soon pumping out 4 ounce at a time.

tacori how cute that she threw a fit! i absolutely think it is the cutest thing. B does it ALL the time, but when he does do it, i have to kinds ignore him but look at him at the same time. sometimes i act like i''m ignoring him and he will catch me looking at him and it''ll actually make it worse. haha!! i can''t wait to see T''s costume!!

tgal i can''t wait to see what you got!!!

we might not be able to take B out for trick or treating...it''s supposed to rain, but i am hoping not too bad. or worse comes to worse, we can go to mall and trick or treat. i''m pretty disappointed. but i am sure i''ll figure something out. can''t wait to see pictures of all the cute kiddies!!

puffy, that''s awesome that you''re still BFing B. My goal is a year as well. At one point I was pumping daily so that DH could do a bottle-feeding at night and I was able to get 3-4 ounces. I think I''ll use formula for a month, pump daily, and see how much milk I can save up. Then maybe I won''t need to give him any formula.

snlee, you can mix BM with formula. Every little bit counts. I BFed until she was 6.5 months. She weened herself
20.gif
but I started supplementing around 4 months regularly b/c of her low weight (not a problem now! Ha!) There is nothing wrong with doing WHATEVER you need to for the health of your child
2.gif

iluv, you are right. She will grow out of it.

Puffy, it IS cute. That sucks it is suppose to rain! Maybe it will hold off.

snlee
D is doing great. I was surprised when M gained more than 3lbs too.

I read this (http://www.workandpump.com/freezerstash.htm) regarding freezer stash. The article got me thinking about freezer stash and its effect on supply. I am still freezing extra breastmilk, but I don't know when/if I will use it.

I know you say you were pumping at night while D is bottle-fed. Since you are trying to build up a freezer stash, maybe you can squeeze in another pumping in the morning either before D wakes up or an hour after D feeds. Usually there is more milk in the morning and you can pump a lot more. I used to have DH bottle-feed M at night, and I would pump when she is feeding. But I started having MIL bottle-feed M during the day last week, so that she can get used to bottle-feeding during the day when I start work in three weeks. So I pumped during the day, and I noticed the amounts I pumped decreased as the day went on. I got 8oz in the morning, then 7oz in the afternoon. I usually get 5oz when I used to pump at night.

In the mean time, just formula feed and see how it goes. =)

Sorry I talked so much about pumping, but I looked into it a lot because I was worried about going back to work, breastfeeding and pumping.

Curly
I used to change M every time she woke up the first 3 weeks, but then she still ended up with a diaper rash. When she started sleeping through the night, I would change her a few times a night while she was sleeping in an attempt to get rid of the rash. After the rash was gone, I don't even change her at night.

Yay for being well rested. It's so cute that Lily is calling Lucy LuLu.

puffy
Yeah my parents had 3 girls, and I am the middle child. One sis is 2 yrs older and the other one is 1 yrs younger. So I do like having siblings close in age.

So funny about Millbrae. All the years I lived in the Bay Area, I didn't know that about Millbrae. But then again I don't go to Millbrae too often.

I hope it doesn't rain, so you can take B trick or treating.

Janine
So glad the last few nights had been better for you. Don't worry about one time percentile. I think percentiles are more for trends, so you need a few to know what they mean.

Tacori
Can't wait to see T in her costume. Hey it's not breaking down; you just found an awesome price that can't be passed up.

M is 3 months old today. I attempted a bear (Hello Kitty) pic, but she kept looking at it and touching the arm and foot. Oh well.

I've been waiting for Halloween because I can't wait to dress M up. I want to take M trick or treating with her 4 yrs old cousin, but DH doesn't seem too into it. I just want to go along with them, so M can be in her costume longer. hehe.

M_3months.jpg

I''m in trouble...as I have mentioned before T HATES sippy cups. She basically refuses to drink out of them. I even broke down and just juice in one (what kid doesn''t like juice? She took a few sips and threw it down. Well, this morning I thought I would be clever. She always gets a huge 8 oz bottle first thing. She I put half formula/half milk in a sippy (that looks most like her bottle) and she REFUSED! We had a stare down. She was crying/whining. I just sat on the floor next to the sippy. She walked over THREW the sippy away from me.
20.gif
I really don''t know what to do. I have tried but I cannot make her. I lost and poured it into a bottle. She drank it right away.
38.gif
Any advice?

Q, M looks so little next to her Hello Kitty! Haha. She will be adorable dressed up! I can''t wait to see all the pics of the cute PS babies.

q- adorable pic with hello kitty!!

tacori- I would honestly just put the sippy cups away for a few weeks and then bring them back and try again. It's a power struggle and at this point and she's winning. It's not worth it to set up situations where you end up having to give in and obviously you have to give in so she'll drink. Anyway, that's just my .02 and what I would do. also, does Tessa like yogurt? I used to give Lily the Danimal's drinkable yogurts with a straw poked through the top. She loved it. so you might try getting her to drink something yummy that way. As she gets used to the straw you could try the straw sippey cups first and then go from there. I'm sorta in the same boat with Jake other than it's with a bottle. I didn't stick with giving them to him and no he won't take one at all.

QT M is so cute!!! that''s a really good picture, even though we can''t see her face too well, but i think it''s cute!! you should being M along trick or treating, it''ll be fun for her to see all the costumes and jack-o-lanterns. and you can still have her trick or treat, you just gotta say it for her
2.gif

tacori i''m sorry that T isn''t taking the sippy. but in time i''m sure she will. if she''s happy with her bottle, then i would say let it be for now. i really don''t know what else to say about the sippy. maybe try just a regular cup and a straw? she''s doing ok on whole milk?

happy halloween to all the mommies and kiddies!!!

hi gang
we are back in barcelona and are heading home in a couple of days. Once we àll got over the jet lag (2 sleepless nights) everything was, and is, terrific. We were lucky to have amazing weather for all but our one day in Casablanca Morocco. Apparently it has been snowing at home so i was glad to get in a few beach days. Co has adapted to everything amazingly well and since there was only one other baby on the entire cruise ship he was pampered and smoothered with attention every minute.
Now the flight home is the last big thing we have to conqure. I will not be using that creepy bassinet (read: cage) I can´t wait to show you some pics of that contraption!

looking forward to catching up on this thread.
36.gif
i ve missed so much
39.gif

I almost forgot: HAPPY HALLOWEEN !

Can''t wait to see all the costumes. Co has a Gap halloween onesie on but the europeans don´t really seem to be into it so it´s not as fun as it would be at home. hope everyone enjoys trick or treating!!!!!

Hiya Jas! Can''t wait to have you back...glad it is all going so well. Let''s hope Co is a dream on the way home!

Tacori, awww...I love Tessa''s Diva moments but I''m sure this isn''t fun for you. I have no real solid advice, as obviously Amelia is younger. My friend with the boy a couple of weeks older that T is having the same issue. They just changed him to whole milk and he will not take it out of the sippy. They gave him the sippy from about 7 months I think but didn''t make him drink out of it, so he just chewed on it a lot. Poor thing.

Intererstingly when my friend was telling me this, babycenter sent out those update emails to me and one of the topics was sippy cup do''s and don''ts. I guess it''s good to start then early so that is what we are doing. Amelia just bites on hers too because she hasn''t quite figured it out, but one of the tips the email gave me was to make sucking noises...so it is helping with Amelia learning (I know that doesn''t help you because Tessa already knows how to drink out of it).

I think Ella posted something about sippies not being the best for speech development so maybe she will try and straw and cup like MrsS said? Maybe it''s different enough from the bottle where she won''t think she''s being conned.
3.gif
Amelia doesn''t love her sippy but she loves drinking out of a "regular" cup right now (I just use a Born Free Bottle lid). Too bad she''s not all the coordinated about it.
20.gif

snlee, D''s growin!! Sounds like good advice the ped is giving you. I honestly don''t remember ever rocking Amelia myself...but I DID use the swing a lot. Maybe it was easier to wean her off that than me rocking her. I really should write it all down because those first few weeks are getting blurrier and blurrier by the minute!

QT, is M already three months? Wow!!! So cute!!

Happy Halloween all! (Even though I am not a halloween person, hehe.)

Mommies--
Do you guys buy special bottled baby water for your little ones (when they are under 1)?
Or do you just use the regular bottled water?

QT
LA pumpkin patch are pretty lame
8.gif

So did you take M to her first pumpkin patch?
Cute 3-month pic
5.gif

I think you''ve got an active one on your hands
41.gif

Hehe, I love being preggo too...except for those bouts of rib pains of course.

Bobo
LOL about little B''s weight gain going to his cheeks.

Curly
Glad you check in.
Sounds like Lucy is just an angel with her sleeping schedule.
Yup, post soon.
I think all the new mommies need to keep up with the tradition here of posting monthly pictures of their LOs.
9.gif

Tacori
Great find on the costume!
Can''t wait to see what she''ll be.

TGal
Ooo...can''t wait to see what your big splurge is.
I''m w/ iluvcarats. I''m thinking something blingy -- necklace or an eternity ring perhaps?

puffy
Hope the weather holds up for Brady tonight.

jas!!!
We missed you too.
Can''t wait to see all the wonderful pictures you took

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
Can''t wait to see loads of pictures tomorrow!

Qtiekiki, M is so cute and I''m loving the rolls on her. Chubby baby are the cutest. Happy 3 months to her!

Tacori, sorry to hear about the sippy. Little B don''t take sippy either...it''s straw or right out of cup for him. Beside of worrying him not eating solid, now I have to worry him not taking sippy.

Welcome back
Jas! Glad to hear the trip went well. can''t wait to see the pics.

lili, we have a filter at home and little B just drink that and if we''re out I buy Evian for him.

Can''t wait to see everyone''s costume!

Hi mommies! I''ve been so busy I haven''t had time to post! I have been reading on my blackberry, though! :) Hopefully after the weekend is over I''ll have time to catch up with everyone, but really quickly just wanted to say happy halloween from T and I!!!!

Happy Halloween everyone!

TGal, I'm not a Halloween person either. I hate dressing up! Always have. But now that I have a baby to dress up, I love Halloween. Are you dressing Amelia up? I wasn't going to dress D up but I found a cute "costume" that can be used as a sleeper and it was 60% off at Carters so I bought it. He looks so darn cute!!!

puffy, the rain should stop by late afternoon so hopefully you can take B out trick-or-treating!

QT, thanks for sharing your thoughts on pumping and that link. I spent a lot of time thinking about pumping and if I would have enough of a freezer stash yesterday. It's true that your supply of milk is greater in the mornings because you produce more while sleeping/when your body is resting. Wow, 8 ounces! How long does it take for you to get that much? I pump for about 10 minutes and get 4 ounces so maybe if I pump longer I can get more. I doubt 8 ounces though. It starts to slow down after 10 minutes.

I figure if I pump 4 ounces every time we formula feed/bottle feed I'll have about 168 ounces of milk saved up when I return to work in a few months. Then I'll pump daily at work and that can be used the next day. I'm thinking I'll have enough of a freezer stash saved up but now that that article is making me rethink it. It's hard because I don't know how much milk a 4-5 month old needs. I think he's drinking about 32 ounces a day right now and that stays pretty constant till 6 months from what I have read. They will feed less often but more milk each time? What do you think? Also what quantities do you freeze your milk? 2 ounces?

How long did M have diaper rash? D has some, which is getting better but not completely gone.

Cute pictures of M with Hello Kitty! If/when I have a girl, I want to take picture of her next to a big Hello Kitty plush too!

Tacori, sorry to hear T is having many diva moments. They must not be fun for you but do sound cute. I hope things get better soon.

jas, welcome back! I'm glad to hear you had a great trip and can't wait to see pictures!

lili, I didn't even know there is such thing as special bottled baby water. Interested to see if anyone buys this special water for their little one.

Burk, what a cute shirt T has on. I love her blue/grey eyes!

There''s baby bottled water? Are you kidding me??
23.gif

Girlfriend, I use TAP.
1.gif
We do have bottled water in her room for formula (for convenience sake) but I try to use tap every chance I get. Even the bottled water is plain ole storebrand drinking water...which is tap water filtered out. First of all, there are lots of studies that show bottled water has all kinds of ick in it too. Tap water usually has fluoride in it that is good for you. Also, my ped, BFing nurse said that tap is totally fine for babies. The taste is probably gross so we''re looking at filtering it.

What I don''t do is use hot tap water...that stuff sits in the water heater and is probably disgusting. I run cold water for awhile and use that. My mom hates giving her tap water so I have to do it behind her back.
41.gif

She''s never been sick from it btw!

Ha, then you have to worry about BPA.

(I''m kind of teasing you...just saying there is always something to worry about. You don''t heat the water in the Brita pitcher, so you probably have nothing to worry about.)

Burk
Tayva is so cute in her Halloween outfit.

Puffy
How cute that you are Pooh bear and B is your hunny pot. You need to post a pic of both of you.

I took M to the mall because I figure I bought her the costume and she might as well be wearing it outside of the house. We didn''t trick or treat, just walked around.

Here''s a pic of M in the stroller heading to the mall.

Here''s M with our 4 yrs old nephew as optimus prime. When I put her next to him, she kept staring at him. It''s so funny. I snapped this pic of her looking at him.
