Janine, I'll come back tonight to comment on the flat head thing. Amelia had torticolis so we had to combat that. Does she seem to favor one side all the time? Don't let the doctor let you blow it off. Amelia went to see a physical therapist when she was 5 weeks old and she was discharged at a little over 4 months. The later you go, the harder it gets because they flght the therapy. It is no fun to crank your kid's head this way and that!Date: 12/1/2008 6:32:04 PM

So we just came back from Chloe's 2 month appointment, she took the shots well, but I have a few concerns in other areas. Hope you don't mind me venting. I'm thinking maybe some of you can offer perspective/advice:
1) Growth Percentiles: Once again she is in 50th for weight, but 25% for height and 75% for head circumference. The dr. said it's fine, but I'm still a bit worried. Since birth, it seems her height percentile has dropped and head had doubled. She was born 7lbs 4oz, 19.75 inches and 13.1 head (full term). Now she is 10lbs 4 oz, 21.5 inches and 15 1/2 head circumference. Isn't that a big jump for head growth? See below for why I'm paying such close attention to that stat..
2) Flat head: I can't remember the technical term, but it was always a concern of mine, and sure enough she has a mild case. The part that most worries me is she has a protrusion on one side and slight flatness on the other. The dr. confirmed my suspicion and says the skull is growing that way and most likely it is due to her tendency to favor one side. However I've been really trying to get her to lean on her other side the past few weeks, and I don't know how this could happen just from me carrying her more on one side (and her sleeping on that side) slightly more. Wouldn't it be a very common diagnosis if this is all it took? I also remember her having that protrusion almost since birth. The pedi said it could be due to her leaning on one side in utero as well. Has anyone heard of this or have tips? He says to put her on the other side as much as possible and if there isn't much improvement by 3 months, she'll have to see a specialist. So I'm quite bummed and also trying to do some research...

D''s STTN was just a fluke and he''s back to waking up two or more times a night. The last few nights he''s been wide awake for a few hours and sometimes wants to play in the middle of the night. I think his day/night schedule is off and it''s probably due to us being bad parents. We stayed up late on Thanksgiving night and didn''t come home till past 1am. His cries are also getting louder and sometimes it is extremely loud like shrieks and it sounds like he''s in a lot of pain. I think this is normal since he''s older? A few days ago, at 9 weeks, we stopped swaddling D. He would loosen the miracle blanket to get his arms free so we knew it was time. I think we''re going to try transferring him to his crib. He''s too loud and moves around too much when he sleeps. He moves his arms and legs like crazy and hits our heads. DH and I aren''t getting very good sleep.
Anyone try BabyLegs? They seem useful and are so cute. I want a buy a few pairs.
Now I''m off to catch up with you all.
