Shortblonde, it's been said here before and I have to agree- a food hamper, or vouchers for a good local restaurant that does take out would likely be very well received. That's been a favourite gift with the mommies here- we never seemed to have time to make meals in the early days, but we were HUNGRY!

Congrats to your friend

Jen

shortblonde~I second MrsM''s suggestion! I loved all the food-related gifts we got when my daughter was still young. I had no time or energy to cook and I was hungry!

Forgot to mention earlier-I went to moms4life to get a couple new clips for T (wanted the snowman for the holidays) and they had a special where you spend $30 you get free babylegs. So, I of course spent $30 so I could get T a pair!!

36.gif

Burk
Wow, that's a pretty good deal.
Those babylegs run about $12 normally.
It shouldn't be hard for you to spend $30 there -- that's just 4 giddy clips
41.gif

I'd buy some myself if J is as corporative as T when it comes to me putting clips on her.
I got the snowman for J a while back. It is super cute
5.gif

So did you order all giddy giddy to make up your $30? :)
Which designs did you get?

Jen- I have 5 kids..3 are mine and hubby's and hubby had 2 pre-me. His kids are older, 18 and 15. He is also 8 years older than me and was 36 to my 27 when we got married. We talked about kids and I always wanted at least 2 b/c I knew the age gap would mean that our kid would basically be raised like an only child. I was an only child b/t my parents and I hated it. I begged for a sibling. my parents divorced when I was 10 and both remarried people who had kids and I was soooo happy. My sister (who is really my step-sister) is my best friend. Anyway, I knew I would always want at least 2 of my own and my hubby was totally on board. I got pregnant with our second a month before my oldest turned one. it was a little sooner than we planned because I didn't think I'd get pregnant again so quickly but my girls are just best friends and play together all the time. we thought we were done and hubby who is getting older really was happy with 4. For some reason I just really wanted 3 and brought it up every now and then. 2 years ago we were on a date night and he suggested trying for one more. We did and now we've got Jake. I wouldn't have it any other way. I can however say I'm officially done making babies. 3/5 is enough for me
9.gif

Burk- good luck on the house. I hear ya on wanting/needing something bigger!! i really hope you get it..

Awww Gemma, she''s just precious!

Burk
That house sounds spacious.
Hope you get it.

Tacori
Tessa does look taller and slimmer in that last pix you posted of her walking.
That''s too funny about her running away during diaper change.
It''s a good thing you have hardwood floor eh?

I can see that I''ll have the same problem with J too.
She''s already crawling away whenever I change her these days.

mrss~Thanks! You have more kiddos than me (and with that comes way more stuff)so I'm sure space is at a premium for you! I just keep imagining trying to squish another kid into our current home and it just isn't very appealing!!

lili~Thanks! It's 3500 square feet which is quite a bit larger than our current home. I thought the free babylegs was a great deal!! I bought two clips and a headband for T.

MrsM
We are thinking about trying for another one since we don''t want J to be an only child.
Ideally we want them to be 2 years apart, so we are looking at TTC when J is at least 1.
Since time is against us (DH is 41 and I am 36), I don''t think we''ll have more than 2.

Ooo, which headband did you get?
Please post a pix when you get a chance.
I''m thinking about getting a headband for J since the daycare doesn''t let me use the giddy giddy clip.
They said that it is a choking hazard for the kids since the kiddies put just about everything in their mouth.
I had to trim her bangs already since it was getting too long and getting into her eyes.
Hate to have to trim it again since I want her hair to grow out so I can hopefully tie it up (if she''ll let me)

Tacori, I think you might just have given me the answer to the 'why do i have clogs again?' question! Engorgement. Amelia is nursing less as I've introduced solids. She loves eating solid food, has taken to it with real enthusiasm. Veggies and fruit mostly, with a few proteins like lentils, chickpeas and a little fish mixed in. She eats three quite big meals a day and is thriving on it, but she got to that stage quite quickly. I guess it's taking my body a little bit longer to adjust. Today, I feel like I am just one big clog. Great. I did pump again, and got a little milk, but by that I mean less than 1oz, using an electric pump. I wonder, should I let her nurse before I give her food each time or would that just screw things up more?

Iluvcarats, baby no 3? Yay! If you're up for it, go for it! DH and I are weighing up the pros and cons of baby number 2 right now. If we're going to do it, we're going to do it pretty soon for a few practical reasons. We are undecided. The dynamic of our little family is pretty good right now and I don't know if I want to mess with that. On the other hand, I loved being pregnant (other than the m/s and exhaustion and DH working away for some of it) and on an emotional level, I want to have another baby.

Anyone else thinking of having another? I'd be interested to know what made you go for more than one or stick with one. At the moment, I think our ages are against us having another (DH is quite a bit older than me and there comes a point where another child isn't a good idea). Plus, we're really happy as we are, so why mess with it. I'm struggling with this. If I'd started earlier, I think I'd have had a whole housefull of kids. I really, really didn't want any children at all until just before we decided to ttc, so this is a whole new emotional ball game for me. DH would have as many as we could find beds for.

9.gif

This is about where I am too. Everything is just great, life is easy, so like you said, why mess with it. And I am running out of time too.And my body is starting to feel like Humpty Dumpty with everything falling apart. ( One more baby using my bladder as a trampoline and I'm going to need diapers too!)

MrsM, you don''t USE it, you LOSE it. I would still nurse often. Ame needs it just as much if not MORE than table food. If you can only get 1 oz on an electric sounds like your milk supply is suffering. Since you want to nurse another 6 months you better get that back up. Hot compresses (I would alternate between hot and cold), massage, and empty that boob! The clog will go away. Nursing on all fours will help a great deal as well. I did that for my bad ones.

Burk, good luck with the house. Now is not the time to sell but you never know. My inlaws house is on the market. All you need is ONE qualified buyer. From watching DH''s work experience renting would be my LAST choice. What a PITA! Plus they ruin your house (kinda like when you rent a car and you don''t bother avoiding pot holes).

Lili, I always freak out when Tessa pulls out her clips b/c I can see how she could choke on it. Shame though, they are so cute! I think she is stretching out too but it is hard to tell since I see her everyday. She is off formula so I wonder if that will help. (Not that some baby fat bothers me at all! I think it is adorable!) Yes, hardwoods are helpful for when she pees. Still...not my favorite thing to do is cleaning up her puddles. Haha.

iluv, actually she wins usually. Haha. Now I have to bribe her with a gerber pinwheel cracker thing. She LOVES them more than anything. That usually can buy me 60 seconds. But I have changed her diaper backwards, her standing up, and the other day her SITTING down! That took some work.

TGal, I am letting DH know about that deal. Keep your fingers crossed! My cart cover is nice. It is really cushy too and has toys attached which is helpful. Still think yours is cuter though

Hi Mommies!!

Big Holiday hugs to you all!

We are great, well, I have a big old black eye...thanks to that bar brawl I was in. No...Jake headbutted me, but now everyone thinks DH beats me. LOL.

I remember when my boss came to work with a black eye, everyone was whispering behind her back. She ran into a cupboard. I have to admit, that is TOTALLY something I''d do (and have done, and have cracked my head on a countertop, fallen down stairs etc.) yet I still wondered. Well, now here I am with a big ol'' shiner & dang if folks don''t look at me weird.

But its been funny. those who are brave enough to ask get a smart a$$ comment from me. Like "how did that happen?" and I say..."rough sex...with YOUR husband". That shuts em up! LOL.

Tacori: How are you? Tessa is such a purty thing! I can''t believe she''s 1. I can''t believe Daners is such a little tyrant! She''s so curious & independent!

Gemma: Awwww.w......swwweeeet baby. Can I giver cyber kisses?

More kids: Man, one of the mom''s at my son''s school has a newborn & DAMN if it doesn''t make my heart ache. Oh I love me some babies. Its the kids that wear me out. Its a good thing my tubes are tied is all I have to say. If I were younger when I started (I was 34 & 37 when my kids were born) I''d probably have more too. Damn babies. They are like CRACK to me. Gotta hold ''em, sniff ''em, rock ''em, sing to ''em. My daughter will not let me hold her for more than 2 seconds. Good thing my boy is all of a sudden a total momma''s boy & wants my cuddles. Must be a turning 4 thing.

Oh --JAKE IS FINALLY POTTY TRAINED! he''s such a rockstar. I am so proud of him, he is really a good little pottier!

Burk: T is so cute in your avi! I love Babylegs, I have a pair for D and they are so nice for chubby little thighs.

Here is a pic of D from the other week...

adanegirl.jpg

lili, my DH hates tight clothing too. I bought a pair of pants that were fitted and he refused to put it on D because it's too tight and would be uncomfortable for him. BabyLegs has some macho ones like the sport ones but I bought some gender neutral ones so we could reuse if we have a girl. Are clogs at the nipple the same as milk blisters (white dot on nipple)? I have issues with this too.
14.gif

gemma, Pippa is adorable!

QT, you are so lucky to have never experiences clogged milk ducts. They hurt so much and unfortunately I keep getting them! It feels like sharp stabbing pains that radiates inward. Maybe one time you come to sf, we (you, me, and puffy) can have a PS mommy GTG. That is if you guys want to. I was looking at Sophie the Giraffe but wasn't sure if it's worth $20. It seems to have great reviews so I may get it for D. Jas12, if you got this, does Co love it?

TGal, those Itzy Ritzy's are expensive but so cute! Now I want one. Damn, they sure know how to get normally frugal mommies! I hope you feel better soon!

Tacori, glad you're feeling better. Looking forward to see if you get a new camera. I want a new camera too.

Burk, good luck with the house. I can relate to wanting more room!

Diver, sorry about your black eye. Oww! You crack me up! D is so adorable! Yay for Jake being potty trained!

D has some gas issues. Our pedi said to give him Mylicon so hopefully that helps. He frequently wakes up crying/screaming followed by lots of loud farts. I don't know of he can fart so much! I feel bad for my poor baby. I can't remember if I said this already but a few nights ago we started to transition D into his crib. I think he's getting used to it. I see progress and he'd probably do better minus the gas pains.

Diver, D is so adorable! Her eyes are beautiful (the shape and color) she looks like SUCH a big girl! I must be the only one that doesn''t get jealous of the newborns. It''s the 5-8 year olds I get jealous of! Haha. iluv and I need to trade kids for an afternoon. Tessa will only let me hold her if she is crying/pain/scared. She has such a strong personality. Seriously. My mom said I am in TROUBLE.

Snlee, yup that is a clog. I went to the doc for that one b/c I was freaked out. Luckily that one goes away pretty fast and wasn''t painful for me. It was the armpit ones that brought me to tears every time! My heart goes out to you!

But its been funny. those who are brave enough to ask get a smart a$$ comment from me. Like ''how did that happen?'' and I say...''rough sex...with YOUR husband''. That shuts em up! LOL.
Total lurker here, but I *HAD* to post. Seriously, this made me SCREAM out loud. I even read it to *my* husband. I''m going to use this phrase at every opportunity, LOL!

MrsM-- Hope the clogs are gone --i could never get much milk when i pumped, usually only an ounce or two at a time, but Cohen is still primarily BF at 8 months and so i know he gets plenty of milk. As Tacori said, keep it up or the supply will dry quickly. I couldn''t believe how quick i went from being engorged to just ''normal supply'' once Co started STTN. Your body really adjusts quickly. I nurse before solids b/c i feel it is more nutritionally valuable. It''s great that Ame is such a good eater, i would still give solids, but solids will always be there, nursing not.

Diver--Daners has the most beautiful eyes! Probably look a lot like yours minus the bruises--ouch.

Lili--i think we will be trying for #2 in the spring as well--maybe we''ll be pregnant at the same time again!

Burk--good luck with the house!! Sounds great. We just go approval on our plans but there is too much snow now to get started so we have to postpone till the spring-darn. I refuse to get excited about it until we actually break ground!

Off to T.O tomorrow--got Charlie surprise Tickets to see Neil Young in concert and to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs practice saturday morning (family day and we are bringing Cohen) fun fun

Deejay: heheheheh...I am *so* bad. Glad you liked it.

Tacori: I''ll make you a deal, I''ll take care of your babies & you can take care of my older kids. Actually, my bff & I always say we need to trade. I have a hard time with 12 to 24 months & she can''t take 0 -12 months. We joke we''d have more kids if we could pawn them off on each other for a year here and there.

Snlee: I used to give Jake mylicon (I actually had to buy the safeway generic brand it go so expensive) after every feed & before bed. You can give it up to 12 times a day. if you are nursing, your food you are eating could be causing it. I think you can google gas causing foods in nursing.

Jas: Actually, I think D has dh''s eyes. They are the same color as his (except his turn brown & hers don''t) but I think the shape is mine. THANKS though! She is the spitting image of her daddy. Both my kids childhood pictures are eerily like Steve''s. Its kinda creepy, but at least he knows their his...what with my having rough sex with other people''s hubbies & getting black and eyes and all! LOL!!!

11.gif

OK, I''m off to peruse nerdy knitting stuff! I''m searching for yarn to do a hoodie! woowooo!

snlee poor D! that''s good that he is getting used to his crib. i''ve already said it before, but i would love to have a GTG with you guys!

tacori i hope you get the camera. how is T?

burk the house sounds great! good luck with it!! T''s going to be 1 in another month and a half or so?

diver D is soooo pretty!! and she looks really tall, which i am sure she is.

DH''s party went well. he claimed he didn''t know, but i am almost sure he did. we had a good time. 1 party down, and 2 more to go on sunday.
B got few gifts from my parents and a few friends today. he got a ball pit, well 3 of them. who knew 3 different people would get ball pits? one is HUGE, the other are decent size for him to play by himself. so tonight after he went to bed, DH and i basically moved everything in the house around to turn our entire downstairs into his play room. and it is filling up! it was pretty tiring. his new favorites are the fisher price sing along stage and the bounce and spin pony thing.
still trying to pack for hawaii....

I ordered my camera! I ordered my camera!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
Now I have to get a case and a flash. Any suggestions? DH was SO funny. He was like "is there anyway this can be your x-mas present?"
33.gif
Yeaaaaaaaah! I would never expect it as a "just because" he is so silly. So I think B&H said it would come the 11th.
9.gif

Diver, when I say older I mean one that can have a conversation with you! Haha. T is looking like me again. Creepy how it changes. And confusing! Good luck on your hoodie! BTW does D stay in her stroller? Miss independent HATES her''s now. She loves to roam free
20.gif

Puffy, glad the party went well! I am sure the other two will also.

Yay for Tacori's new camera!
36.gif
I can't wait for the pics! I wish I could take Tessa off your hands for a while - you could have the whole day off!
My dad was a doc growing up too. He was never home. DH is a doc. Residency and fellowship were hard, but it is not too bad anymore. Just sometimes. No more in house call.
When my DD went through the no stroller phase I kept a toy stroller with me so that she could push it. It helped to be able to keep up with her. She liked to put her stuffed animals in there.

iluv, a whole day off...what would I do with myself? Haha. I understand why she is taking it personality since it is her chosen profession but let''s not fool ourselves. It is a choice. A package. Besides there are LOTS of celebs NOT in the spotlight or that we never hear about. Some of it is self-inflicted in IMHO. My dad is a worker. Doubt he will ever retire. He loves it. He has slowed down a little but not much. At 60 he just e-mailed me to tell me he just finished his 30 hour shift. Crazy man. I think he might have some regrets but he is a good dad and was a good provider. He is pretty specialized and is good at what he does. But I remember he was out of town for a conference and I didn''t realize he was gone until a few days. That''s just sad...

I agree. It seems ridiculous to think you can have a job that pays millions of dollars and splashes your face across movie screens and magazines wearing fabulous designer clothes while wining and dining with other fabulous people and say "but I want my privacy..." Like you say, it''s a package deal. Like me wanting another baby - I want the toothless smiles, babyhugs, warm tummies, endless giggles and cute clothes, but I know that attached to all that yummy stuff are the sleepless nights, poopy diapers, unprovoked tantrums and all the chaos that goes along with it. You gotta take the good with the bad.
What is your Dad''s specialty?

iluv, EXACTLY! Oh well. He is in Pediatric Anesthesia. He was in school for a long time (two residencies). But he loves working on kids. He also gives epis so he is a popular man. Haha.

Yay for the epis!
36.gif

My DH had a long road too. 6 year residency followed by a 2 year fellowship. But he loves what he does. He is a urologist specializing in robotic surgery. The kids love the gross out factor i.e.:"That's not gross. You should see what my dad does. That's REALLY gross." haha

MrsMitchell
Time flies when they are babies. It''s like they grow up in a blink of your eyes.
We had decided before we TTC for our first that we''ll have at least 2 kids. Having M had not change our mind. We just need to decide when to TTC for #2. At first I was thinking of trying when M turns 1, but now I am aching to start sooner.

Tacori
Yeah you should try the babylegs. That''s one of their selling points - convenience diaper change. Although it won''t help with keeping her still. M is already moving around when I change her, so I can imagine how hard it is with a toddler.
I am going to follow the rule and wait til 6 months to start solids too. My pedi said we can try giving her water if we want, so I might go get some sippy cups for that.
Glad you are feeling better.
Yay for the new camera. Now I want a camera b/c I want nicer, clearer pics of M. It''s hard to capture the moment with point and shoot camera. Your DH is so funny. I actually never expect a gift for holidays b/c DH likes to do "just because" gifts instead. He says he wants to surprise me. It''s ok though because I hadn''t buy him a holiday gift either since we got married. We are so bad.

iluvcarats
Is it a harder decision for baby #3 because baby #1&2 are older and great kids? I can see that having baby #3 will take time away from the two kids, but they might also enjoy having a new baby and a bond. Whatever you decide, I am sure you will be fine.

Tgal
Oh now you got me wanting a cart cover. Thanks for talking it up. hehe.
31.gif

Burk
Good luck with your house. The space will definitely be nice if you have 3 kids. I think 3 is a good number. That''s what I want, but DH is thinking more along the line of just 2. But we''ll see.
So which babylegs color/pattern did you get?

Diver
D is adorable, and her eyes are gorgeous.
Are you knitting the hoodie for D? How fun.

snlee
I would love to do a GTG with you and puffy when I am in town. I''ll have to drag DH along, but he''ll probably be on the laptop the whole time he is there.
I am thinking the same thing about Sophie the Giraffe. I don''t know if it''s worth it.
Yay for D getting used to the crib. M used to wake up grunting with a lot of farts too, but it worked itself out. My pedi said it''s normal when I asked him, so we never did anything about it.

Jas12
That would be funny if you and lili ended up getting pregnant around the same time again.
Have a fun weekend.

Puffy
Glad DH''s party went well. You are just a busy party planner these days.
9.gif

That''s awesome you guys fixed up B''s playroom. He is a lucky boy.

So this weekend will be the first weekend with just me and M because DH is heading to Vegas today. I''ve been guilt-tripping about it. But I should be fine.

Before DH heads out, we are meeting our friends and her baby for lunch. M is probably just going to stare at the other baby. I am excited to have M meet her playmate.

lili~I got one of the adjustable headbands. We'll see how it works. Poor T has hair in her eyes too and I am scared to do the clips at daycare so I do ponytails some times and other days she just has to live with not being able to see!
3.gif
I'll post pics of the headband when it gets here. Oh, and I can't get her to sit still for anything but for some reason I can get her to sit still for a second while I put the stuff in her hair. I find it's easiest if I put her in front of the mirror so she can watch me do it. It's almost amusing for her.

Tacori~Thanks! We already have one rental (as an investment) and I find it to be a PITA but for some reason DH kind of likes it?!?!
40.gif
It scares both of us to think about what might happen to our beautiful home if there are renters in it. Our real estate agent is doing some research and we'll probably get it on the market soon to see what happens. Congrats on the new camera!! What an awesome gift. I fully expect you start using it and posting pics of darling Tessa for us to ooh and ahh over!
41.gif

Diver~Good to *see* you around!! Miss D is so pretty!! Those eyes. Love those eyes. T has the same top/dress/who knows since T's so tall-I pair it with leggins. Cute!

snlee~Thanks!! Who knew a baby could take up so much space!!?!??!?!

jas~Thanks!! So exciting that your plans were approved. When does it typically get nice enough out where you live for them to be able to break ground? Hopefully you'll be in your new house in no time!! Have fun this weekend!!

puffy~Thanks! T will be 1 January 18th. Glad to hear your Dh's party went well. Are you ready for B's?

QT~Thanks! My DH was thinking 2 also...I think I'm going to win that battle, though!
3.gif
I got the black ones with silver stars. I figured they'd go with a lot and then if I like them I can always order more. The ease for diaper changing sounds so nice because tights are a PITA!!

Yesterday when I got to daycare to pick T up she was still sleeping. I didn't want to wake her and we had nothing pressing to do so I let her sleep and I played with the babies! I was in heaven!! I love babies. I actually used to work in a daycare. I had the best time. Then, I got home and told DH I am ready for another one.
23.gif

iluv, too funny about the gross factor. Haha. Look at the thread now. Maybe I am off point. *shrug*

Q, it is horrible! I hate changing her diaper. I think it will get better in a few months when she can *understand* what I am saying better. For now she just runs around half the day naked. My camera shipped! Can''t wait!!! I hope I can figure it out. Have fun with your playdate. I think it is so funny to watch them interact. I am all about the guilt trips too. Maybe YOU can get a D60 too
2.gif

Burk, I am sure you have a higher quality of renters than we do. Hopefully it won''t get trashed. We rented our first house and it was hard to go back and see the carpet stained and it dirty. Oh well. Money is money. So you going to TTC?

Lili - I do have a ton of pics of James - but they''re on my home computer, which isn''t online yet. We''re waiting on some sort of wireless router
33.gif
. As soon as it''s up and running I promise a whole page of James pics!

Mrs. Mitchell - DH and I will probably start trying for #2 when James is about a year old (he''s 5 months now). We only plan on having 2 children and don''t want them to be too far apart in age.

James tried bananas for the first time today and it was a success. He only made a few funny faces with the first few bites and then ate them like a champ. He also rolled over two times today! Once when he was mad when I was putting him down for his a.m. nap and then in the afternoon during tummy time. It was soo cute! I''m so proud of him
16.gif

Tacori~We are lucky that the renter we have in our current rental treats the house like it''s her own and will very likely purchase it from us when she saves enough money. Not going to hold my breath that we should be so lucky if we have to rent our house!
21.gif
As for TTC-I''m off BC but we''re not really going to start "trying" until March. It really wouldn''t be good for me to get preggo before then because it would put my due date during volleyball season and I really don''t need that kind of stress!!
