oh burk, i''m so sorry about Tayva. i really hope she outgrows it too!!!

NF, sorry I can't help you. I'm still trying to get D to sleep earlier! Last night at 11pm he was up WIDE awake cooing and smiling! Cute but not when it's time for bed!

puffy, i'm thinking lunch and maybe park afterwards? Want to meet somewhere near you since it's nicer weather there? Any favorite restaurant you want to go to?

Burk, I'm sorry about T! I had asthma my whole life. Poor T. I really hope she grows out of it!

janine, yes it's fun since our little ones are just days apart and they seem to be on the same page. I had to laugh at your description of Chloe because D does the same thing! The gargling/cooing/yelling/laughing thing too. Cracks us up! D is still co-sleeping. I hope to get him into his crib somewhere between 4-6 months. We'll see. Good luck and let me know how it goes! Sounds like Chloe is a good sleeper. Glad her head is better too! A few weeks ago D was doing well. Going 7-9 hours between feedings at night but it hasn't stayed that way. Last night was rough. Fussy and only went 4.5 and 4.5 hours.
7.gif
Growth spurt? Who knows!

Question about tummy time. I know tummy time is made up and there's no real need to do it (according to my pedi) but when I do try tummy time, D doesn't use his arms at all! His arms are on his side and he just kicks and kicks his legs! He gets frustrated so we don't do it much. Normal or something I should be concerned about? He loves standing with support so we do that often. Our pedi said that's perfectly fine to do instead of tummy time but just wondering. At this rate, it doesn't seem like he'll roll over anytime soon.

Oh Burk, I''m so sorry Tayva has to have those treatments! I used to babysit for a child who had nebulizer treatments and I had to give them to him often. My trick was always distract, distract, distract! For example, I would bring out a new toy just for the treatments, which made him a little less freaked out about them and excited about the toy.

Hi all! Just wanted to say that all these baby pictures are adorable! Burk, Jake, Snlee, QT, and Curly-I just cannot believe how big all these babies are getting so quickly. And just how adorable they all are!

Sorry that my posts are so self-centered, I promise they will become less so once I have advice to offer and a bit more time on my hands! The babies and I are doing pretty well, Max has a bit of a diaper rash that we are having trouble getting rid of. He just poops so much that we just cannot keep him dry. We''ve been washing his little tush very often in addition to ointment and it''s getting better at least, but I feel so badly.

And I have a question for TGal and any other sleep crazies.
2.gif
My goal is to get the boys on an early to bed schedule once they feasibly can. What is the best way to handle the transition from sleeping all the time to taking naps at specific times and going to *bed* at a specific time?

Thanks all! Stay warm out there for those of you up north...it is -16 here right now!!!
Neatfreak, I''ll try and give my 2 cents this weekend. But keep in mind, I have a singleton. I have no idea what to do with twins!

To everyone else...wanted to say hello. I have a lot of catching up to do. My mind has be preoccupied this week with something so I was spending time doing a lot of researching and figuring something out. It''s done, so I''m happy!

Burk, can you have her watch "Yo Gabba Gabba" while you give it to her?

burk poor girl! i feel so bad for T. it seems like it''s one thing after another with her. it must be so heartbreaking for you and your DH. hopefully things wil start to clear up for her.
i''m sure i''ll be back before sunday, but just wanted to say... HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY WEEKEND TO MISS TAYVA!!!

tacori hmmm, that''s a good idea. i should tell DH that it is a hobby. maybe he''ll even buy it. haha!! how''s T been doing? still being little miss independent?

snlee with tummy time, if he hates it, there''s no need to force it. but i THINK if you start to be consistent with it, he might start to show some sort of interest in it. and he will get the hang of it and use his arms. have you tried to get down to eye level with him and talk to him and play with him? that might keep his interest for a bit. and 1 thing that i used to do with B is hang his favorite toy at his eye level and he would try to reach for it. or you could just do tummy time of you and i''m sure he would like that. have you had any luck getting D to bed earlier? i hope he''s back to his old sleeping self so you can catch some zzz''s too.

janine we''re in CA. i can''t believe Chloe is going to be 4 months soon! time flies by!!

jas12 HAYY EARLY 30TH!! have a great time in your little black dress!!!

have a great weekend to all the mommies and babies!!

Neat- This book is awesome for learning about sleep schedules for babies. He shows you the best time/method to put babies on a sleep schedule and you can also use it for a feeding schedule. It's very informative as he takes you through what the baby should be doing at every age. He even starts with the first weeks! Although he says you really can't sleep train them for a while (I think 3-4 months is the earliest) there are things you can be doing in the beginning to help the transitions. I can't even tell you how helpful this book has been to me!

http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Sleep-Habits-Happy-Child/dp/0449004023

P.S. I think Tacori has read it too because I've read things that she has said that seem like they are from this book.

Am I right Tacori?

mrss~Thanks! We''re trying to be optimistic...hoping she does outgrow it!

snlee~Thanks! I also have asthma. It is manageable and I know as she gets older it would get easier. Just hoping we don''t have to find out!

neat~Spot on!!We''ve found (in our short 2 days) that distraction is key! Thanks!

Tgal~Hello, friend! Good to *see* you!

Tacori~Funny you should mention "Yo Gabba Gabba" as it was our distraction method tonight and it went pretty well! She screamed and wiggled for probably the first minute, then gave in and watched for the remaining 4 minutes ! Hopefully tomorrow morning she''ll just watch the entire time so I don''t have to feel like I''m abusing my child!

puffy~Thanks so much! And Miss Tayva thanks you for the fabulous birthday wishes!! I''m a bad mommy and already let her have (hadn''t wrapped yet) a few presents. Whoops.....
16.gif

Tayva had her one year today. Height was 31.5 inches (95 percentile) and weight was 21.6 lbs (45 percentile). Tall skinny thing. Big surprise there. Talked to her pedi about her picky eating habits and the fact that she HATES whole milk. He said not to push it. Baby food is just fine and she''ll ease into whole milk. Okay. Off to bed. T has pics tomorrow morning and then I have a ton of cooking to do for her party on Sunday!!

Diva
Yay for James rolling over and sitting up. M is opposite of James; she only rolls from back to front so far.

snlee
I guess neither of us had a lot of hair when we are babies. I just looked at DH''s baby pictures, and our hair were basically the same as M now.

I didn''t get stretch marks on the girls. The ones on my belly had faded quite bit, but I can still see them and the linea nigra. I hope they disappear by summer, so I don''t have to invest in an one piece suit.

In the beginning, she always had her arms on her sides and kicks during tummy side. Eventually she started pushing onto her elbows, so D will get to it.

Burk
It''s funny that we are taking about TTC in here. Good luck in February.

Sorry about Tayva''s asthma. I hope she grows out of it.

Happy Birthday to Tayva. Hope the party is awesome on Sunday.

puffy
Wow the play set must be huge. How fun for B.

janine
Don''t worry Chloe won''t forget her mommy. I actually have the same worry when I went back to work, but now I can tell that M is happy to see me when I get home and she wants her mommy. I am sure it''s the same for Chloe. Of course she''ll get used to your mom since she is taking care of her, but your mom doesn''t replace you. =)

M has a bald spot from moving her head back and forth. It''s normal. I heard the hair slowly grows back once the babies start sitting up.

Tacori
Thanks for the head up on Target. Our Target sucks; they have none of the stuffs you mentioned. I would like to get the ball pit. Oh well. I did get a couple things: Fisher-Price Little Superstar Sing-Along Stage and Smart Bounce & Spin Pony. I hope M will like them.

Curly
Glad Lily and Lucy are doing well in daycare. It must be awesome to have the rockstar kids.

I know what you mean about looking forward to the next thing. That’s how I am now, but I am also sad that she is growing up so fast.

The girls are so adorable.

lili
Yeah we are definitely not going to keep having kids for the elusive boy.

“Doggy” sitting. hehe that’s a cute way to put it.

Talking about doing birthdays at the same time – we are wondering if my SIL will ask us to have a joint bday party for M and her DS. They have the same birthday (different year). We don’t want to only b/c we don’t get along with her DH, so we don’t want to deal with him. She actually asked my other SIL if she wants to do joint bday party for their DS for the last couple years, but my other SIL said no. It’s kind of odd b/c our two nephews are born one month apart.

We started CIO this past Monday. It’s heartbreaking to hear M cry and not going in to pick her up. The first night, she cried for 30 min before falling asleep. I went in to comfort her three times. The second night, it took about 20 min and two comforting visits. The third night was 10 min and no comforting. Yesterday we fell asleep when I was holding her. Tonight she fell asleep nursing. So I don’t know if she can actually fall asleep on her own yet, but it seems to be progressing in the right direction.

Puffy, yes! Last night she ran into our bedroom and closed the door
20.gif
Luckily she can''t reach the lock yet. Haha. She''s a funny girl.

mia, I did read that book and it really helped. I will warn any mom that it is kinda confusing (or I am just an idiot). I would read it BEFORE the baby is here if you can before your brain is mush from no sleep. We started at 4 months and I was so upset reading it and realizing I was doing everything wrong! It took another 2 months for her to sleep during the night but b/c she was low weight at the time she only woke up for feedings.

Burk, glad it worked! baby crack. Happy b-day to sweet T! Enjoy her party.

Q, seems like some Targets were better than others. Sounds like you got a few deals though. Good luck with the sleep training. It is hard (I know!) But once your baby is sleeping well they really are happier. One of the BIGGEST mistakes I made with T was waiting for her to crash and putting her to bed too late when she was overly tired. It is harder to fall asleep when you get to that point. I would pick a bedtime. The book suggests 7 pm and put her down. She might surprise you. For the younger babes (under 1) the author said the ideal sleep times would be 7pm-7am, first nap at 9-11, second nap at 2-4 (I *think* it was 2 pm). She was on this for many, many months. Now it seems like she is trying to take one nap but can''t QUITE do it. Usually I lay her down for an hour around 5 pm.

Thanks Mia! Ordering it now.

And TGal whenever you get a chance would be great. But no hurry obviously, the boys are a month (can you believe that???) so we have a few more before I am going to start attempting a schedule. Hope everything is ok with you!

TGal, forgot to say that I miss you! Hope everything is okay!

burk-T is a tall skinny little thing. You know my 6 year old hates milk. she won''t drink it at all. she has never liked it either. She did drink choc. milk for a while when she was 2-3 and the dr. said that was okay b/c she was getting the calcium. Then one day she stopped liking choc. milk too
33.gif
anyway, she just mostly drinks water, even takes it to school in her thermos. I just try to get her calcium in other ways like yogurt, cheese, broccoli etc. I honestly don''t really like milk either so I probably didn''t push it enough.

q- I did the CIO with my oldest and I know it''s so heartbreaking to here them cry. it does sound like it''s working in the right direction for you. I hope she''s sleeping like a champ in no time.

Burk, happy 1st birthday to T! Hope you have a wonderful birthday party!

I agree, I'm impressed with Diapers.com too! My order came the next day and with the $10 off your first order, you can get some diapers for a good price!

We went to two Targets close to us and struck out! We looked in the baby and toy aisles and didn't see any good deals. Bummer! Although, I wasn't in the best shape to shop for some deals so I MAY have misses it. I had a headache and was a little nauseous. I thought it was just tiredness from some crappy nights of sleep and it would pass and I really wanted to get out of the house. Went out shopping for a bit (big mistake!) then came home and puked!
14.gif
Felt much better after that but still feeling a little out of it. I had a stomach ache a few days ago too so not sure if it's related. Whatever it is, I hope it passes soon.

Off to take a nap and rest. Will catch up later!

MrsS I hated milk growing up too! Never touched it except on cereal and I wouldn''t drink it straight ever... and I seem to be okay! I bet the cheese and yogurt is more than enough. I make myself drink it now that I am preggo, but it is not something I enjoy at all.

QT~Thanks for the b-day wishes!! Sounds like you are making pretty good progress with CIO! Every once and a while T has a night where she'll fuss for a bit before she falls asleep and it's STILL hard!
2.gif

Tacori~DH thought your baby crack comment was hilarious because it's SOOOOO true! She did great with both treatments today. Watched "Yo Gabba Gabba" the entire time! Thanks for the b-day wishes! Oh, and T does a very close version of the sleep the author of that book suggests. I may get that book to read before the next one! She sleeps 7pm-7:45am with naps at 10 and 2:30. If Tessa takes only one nap does it end up being longer? T tried the one nap thing a couple times and failed miserably. Only took a 1.5 hr nap, though.

mrss~So good to hear that your daughter wouldn't do milk. When she was 1 did you stick with formula for a while or just do mainly water? I am not a milk drinker (couldn't even make myself when I was preggo) so I have wondered if she will be too. She drank a little milk today. Progress.

snlee~Thanks for b-day wishes! We're excited to celebrate! Sorry you're not feeling well. Get some rest!

Tayva had her one year pics this morning and our photographer called me at noon to tell me the proofs were up online!!

Here's the link for anyone interested. Just click on her name and password is GOphoto3. I'll post my favorite pic here.

Off to clean...

burk-I just kept trying the milk but once she was one she mostly drank water. I didn''t keep doing the formula, way to $$. The pro pics are just beautiful!!! Happy 1st b-day to little T...

Burk Tayva is gorgeous! Happy birthday to her!

Question on pro pictures for you all, when are good ages to have pro pictures done? We obviously missed the newborn wagon (which is fine because DH took some pretty nice pictures of them as newborns with his fancy camera) and I''d like to get them at optimal ages if that makes sense. So what ages did you all get them done at?

snlee--
i still have my belly line, although it is alot lighter now than 3 months ago.
but the belly line is probably the least of my vanity worries.
the skin over my belly looks leathery and flabby --- very unsightly
41.gif

re: tummy time. there is a baby in J's daycare that does the arms and legs kick when he's on his belly too.
it's funny, but so cute -- it's like he's trying to doggy paddle across the room.
the point of tummy time is for the baby to strengthen his neck muscle.
if D is already lifting his head, that's great. standing with support is even better....he's working his leg muscles.

Tacori--
haha, sometimes it's the nicest one that meet the crappiest people
2.gif

anyway, didn't make out as well as you did at target.
we did manage to swoop up one of those playhouse for 50% off.
don't know if J will like it....for all we know, she might have preferred the builder's tool set
20.gif

Janine--
wow, can't believe your commute is that long, and i thought my 50 minute each way is bad.
anyway, hope you will be able to work out something with your boss to telecommute from home.
a little late to your question about the bald spot on baby's head -- but it's perfectly normal.
like snlee, i'd find J's hair all over the spot where she was sleeping.

puffy--
wow, nice play set.
i may have to come crash your place if i ever head up north
41.gif

and you must have alot of stuff to use one of the room as your closet!
i'm the opposite....hardly have anything to fill my dingy little closet space
9.gif

curly--
who wouldn't love seeing those pretty girls
2.gif

i know what you mean about cracking up while trying to "discpline" them, especially when you've got a character one like Lily
41.gif

hehe, I agree with you about being most excited about living through Tacori's next pregnancy.
she deserves a great pregnancy and L&D.
are you sure you are done with 2? look at those pretty little girls....not having more is such a waste of those good genes :P

tacori--
you can count on us to offset any of the emotional discomforts you get from people IRL.
i think you were such a cute preggo -- your belly is so nice and round -- too cute.

brb

Happy One Year Tayva! Hooray!

Snlee, sorry you aren''t feeling well! Hopefully you are better now.

Burk, ideally she would take a 3 hour nap, once a day. Doesn''t work like that. All her naps are usually 2 hours even if she only takes one. It is like she has a build in alarm clock and wakes up EXACTLY after 2 hours. Adorable picture of the two of you! Happy birthday to sweet T!

Lili, I know! Thank you. My belly WAS very round. Looked like I had a beach ball under my shirt. I am going to try to not gain as much weight as last time.

Well I just got home with T. We went to watch football at a neighbor''s house. I am exhausted! It is so hard to go to people''s homes who don''t have little kids (b/c nothing is baby proofed). DH and I spent the whole time running after her. My back started hurting again to top it off (not sure if I complained about it before). Puts me in a bad mood! Haha. Oh, earlier I got to sleep in (yay!) AND go to the mall alone (yay!). I finally used my gymbucks and got quite a lot for $50! I got a really cute raincoat for this spring, 2 dresses, pair of jeans and 3 tops. I was so excited b/c my subtotal was RIGHT at $100. That usually NEVER happens.

I hear you Tacori! When you go to an unbabyproofed home with a toddler you spend the whole time trying to keep them alive.
Looking forward to seeing Tessa in her new Gymboree wardrobe. They have such cute stuff!

tacori- I totally hear ya on going to places that aren't babyproofed. it's just not relaxing or fun at all. I love visiting my dad but his house is big with multiple sets of stairs and not babyproofed and I just dread taking Jake b/c I'll have to follow him and watch him like a hawk.

neat, I did pro picture's with my first at 3 months, 6 months, nine months and then 12 months, 18 months, 2 years and then yearly after that. Of course it was so much $$ that when I had my second we couldn't justify the expense so pretty much just have yearly pro pictures of Lily. jake hasn't had a pro take his picture yet. I probably need to schedule something for my crew in the spring.

Neat - We have the hospital issue photos of James that were taken right after he was born and we are getting some done within the next 2 weeks for his 6 month shoot. We will also have a family shot taken at that time. Then we''ll probably wait until he''s a year old before we get any more taken. We have a ton of pics of him on the computer that we easily could take somewhere to have blown up and framed if we wanted to.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAYVA!! That pic of the two of you is sooo cute, Burk. It''s hard to believe that she (and Tessa) are one-year-olds already!

We got James a jumper yesterday at BRU - I had a 15% off coupon that I wanted to use before it expired. We ended up getting the Baby Einstein Jumper because it was $10 cheaper than the Rainforest Jumperoo and has 6 height settings. He doesn''t quite get it yet, but he will soon enough. Will post some pics when I get the chance.

Diva
So how much did you end up paying for the jumper? I am debating on which one to get. Are there any reasons you get the Baby Einstein''s beside the price difference?

Burk
Tayva''s pro pics are gorgeous.

Well, party is over and everything went well! Tayva did great. All the kids played so nice and she just loved it. She got a bunch of great stuff (including 3 HUGE toys from my IL's even though DH specifically asked MIL not to do large toys because we are running out of places to put them) and everyone seemed to have a nice time. I cannot believe I just put my one-year old to bed!! WOW!

mrss~Thank you! I think we'll keep trying milk, too. I have one can of formula I haven't opened so I may use that until it's gone and then just keep trying milk.

neat~Thanks! We have a great photographer that comes to our house and her prices are great so we have gotten a lot of pro-pics taken: 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year so far. We also did family pics at the 4 weeks, and 6 and 9 month pics.

jas~Thank you!! Good to *see* you! How are things with the boys?

Tacori~Tayva does the same thing if she does one nap. It's not long enough to get the sleep she needs so by evening she's tired and I have to lay her down around 5. Don't think she's ready for one nap yet. I totally agree that it's so hard going to someone's house that isn't baby-proofed. I feel tired when I leave. You did great at Gymboree!! We'll need some pics of T modeling all this cute stuff!!

Diva~Thanks! I can't believe she's one, either! I want to bottle her up and keep her at this age. They grow too fast! Tayva loved her jumperoo! We'll need pics of James enjoying his!

QT~Thanks!
