Lisa, do you remember what med your son was on for asthma? Tayva recently started nebulizer treatments for asthma and she''s been a little "off" ever since and I didn''t know if there was a connection or if it''s coincidence with stomach bug, ear infection and the teething she''s going through.

Tacori
All moms feel that way sometimes.
You need to reboot.
I always found that a long, hot shower always made me feel better.
I have an art degree too, and I find that when I can''t be creative I really go crazy.
I have to do something creative just to feel like myself.
It is a release for me.
Maybe if you get a moment, pick up your paint brush.
Hang in there.

Qtiekiki--ahh, what great new pics! Looks pretty comfy in that stylish highchair--what a little pumpkin

Tacori--*hugs* i''ve had a day or two like that--i think if you like zumba it will be a great ''escape'' for you. I know that when DH gets in the door at 5:30 i cherish that hour i get to myself. It is one hour every day, and although it''s just spent at the gym (i''d rather shop or something) i think it is what keeps me sane. Music, stress release and choreography that forces your brain to focus on something other than your kid is good medicine!

Albuterol is the medicine. The gerneric name is ventolin. It''s mixed with ampules of saline solution for the nebulizer. He''s on Advair, Singulair and Zrytec.
My son had 12 ear infections by the time he was one. We did tubes, helped a lot. It''s the liquid steroid I had to give him on occassion that made him super hyper, but hubby and I can''t remember the name of it. I will ask my friend who is a nurse tomorrow. Nebs shouldn''t make them off. But not sure how long Miss Tayva has been getting them? Rob was put on nebs at 18 months, 4 to 5 times a day.... He''s off them now, he grew out ot it, thank goodness. I will get back to you tomorrow, Burk.

lili how is J doing? hope she isn''t sick anymore. i think by the time B is 2, when we pan on going on the cruise, he should be able to enjoy some of the stuff, but if we are planning on going every year, then he''ll love it as he gets older.

qt M is so cute in her boon! looks like she is loving rice cereal. i think the way that you are doing it is fine for rice cereal. there really isn''t a set time for it all it''s just whatever works for you. i am really looking forward to the disney activities annually! he had a great time on his play date today, thanks for asking. well, he fell on his head, but other than that, it was fun. the other kid accidentally tripped him and he stumbled onto his head. but he''s ok now.

burk it must be so exciting for you to be "not preventing." right now with the whole teething with molars thing, i am sooo glad i only have B!! it is so frustrating. i''m sure you''ll be there soon. hawaii in january...your next one will be just a newborn? are you ready for that? well, i guess it should be fine since all they really do then is eat and sleep.

tacori i hope you are doing better. you should take one day a week for yourself to just go out and do what you want/need to do without having a toddler right there with you driving you nuts. i don''t mean to say that T drives you nuts, but sometimes B sure makes me crazy when i am trying to get stuff done and i have to bring him with me. have fun at your classes!!

snlee how is D doing? hope he isn''t fussy at night anymore. and i am hoping that you and him are getting plenty of sleep at night.

Lisa~Tayva has been on them for 2 weeks now. She does albuterol and pulmacort (not sure of the spelling). Doctor told us the albuterol could make her hyper. TIA!

Puffy~The past couple weeks have been rough for us, too, with teething. I had to give DH a pep talk last night about being preggo for 9 months before the baby gets here!
9.gif
The Hawaii trip is with DH''s entire family so my MIL will be there to babysit. We may go in March instead...trying to coordinate with the IL''s is fun!
3.gif

Burk - sorry to hear about the canceled date night.
7.gif
I have a soft spot for Clint, and haven''t been able to catch Gran Torino yet either. But holy cats - how exciting about "not preventing"! And Hawaii sounds wonderful - have you ever been out there before?

QT Meena is a doll! - and the photo where she''s licking her lips so, so cute.
5.gif
We generally feed L dinner about an hour before bedtime and we haven''t noticed any problems from it.. As for fruits - when we started feeding L fruit he was kind of apprehensive about eating the fruit "straight" as I think he found the flavor too intense. However - he loved fruit when mixed with rice cereal, and now he''s accustomed enough to fruit to just eat fruit plain (and enjoy it!). Just a random thought, if the applesauce experience doesn''t immediately go over well with M!

Tacori - I''ve seen photos with you and T and as you are decidedly Not Fat, it is already impossible for you to have a fat summer.
5.gif
And you''re a great mom -- T is proof of it!
1.gif

Puffy - My husband, who is into flying/planes himself, is hoping that L becomes a "plane man" too! The Disney cruise sounds great and it''s so cute that your husband agreed to go on yearly cruises if it works out - he sounds like a sweetie.
5.gif
L''s sleep schedule has gone nuts as all he wants to do is pull up and cruise until he''s completely exhausted. Oof.

MrsS - Great deals!!

Gotta run!

Thanks ladies for all your support. Today will be better...hopefully. I know DH is coming home early. When I say early I mean 5:30
20.gif
Better than nothing. On more exciting news I think Tessa and I might of had our first conversation last night. She threw her empty snack trap at me. I said "Tessa do you want more goldfish?" She said "More!" I said "You want more?" She said "Yes!" Hey, it''s a start. Haha!

Burk, few times I have been jealous of working moms. I feel so bad for your T. Tough girl and tough mama. Don''t stress about a m/c b/c as you know there is nothing you can do to prevent it. We told our fams so early. Next time I WILL wait until after I go to the doc at least. We were so excited. Love going to Target alone! Pretty much only go alone now but I have to wait until DH gets home and then I am usually SO tired.

Lisa, lunch alone? What is that? Haha. My mom is coming next week and we are going to look at BM''s dresses w/o T and I am so excited! Not dress shopping part but just being without her (so horrible!) Sounds like you had a terrible time! So sorry. You are right that it is a blessing they can''t remember. Just like I can''t remember my mom stressed beyond belief!

puffy, no, she does get drives me nuts sometimes! My DH is not a lovey dovey guy so it did mean a lot to me that he was so sensitive. I felt horrible b/c he stayed for an hour, put her to bed and went back to work. Poor B and his molars. Wonder if that''s T''s problem.

iluv, my mom said I should take an art class. Not sure where to even look. She seems worried that I do NOTHING for myself (b/c I really don''t).

Jas12, oh I would be a happy mama if DH came home at 5:30 and was home on the weekend! Sunday is his only day off. The gym is not exactly what I call enjoyable but it is better than nothing!

Linden, you are sweet but I was probably using Tessa (or something else) to shield my blubber!
2.gif
Thanks. I guess we all need to be reminded that we are screwing up our kids.

Linden~I''ve heard Gran Torino is very good. I think pretty much everything Clint is in is good, though! It''s very exciting to think about a baby, but also a little stressful.
5.gif
I believe God will only give me what I can handle. We''ll see what happens. I''ve never been to Hawaii, but DH and my IL''s have all went the month before I started dating DH. I missed out!! They have a time share.

Tacori~So exciting about your conversation!! Tayva still just points at what she wants and whines!
20.gif
Working does have it''s advantages at times.
41.gif
I am not as much worried about the fact that I may mc because I know it''s common and I can''t prevent it, as I am about dealing with the hurt of it over and over because if we tell my IL''s my MIL will tell everyone she knows. It actually happened to my poor SIL. SIL was explaining to people she barely knew about the MC months after because MIL had blabbed about her being preggo! I will tell my mom and sister and a couple close friends because that is who I would want to help me if I did mc, but I just don''t want to have to relive it with strangers. You know? Maybe I''m just a bit of a nut job!
9.gif
I hate going to Target with Tayva. I mean, she''s sweet and all but she wants to walk and get into everything.

Hi Moms!! I don't really lurk here, as the reality of becoming a mom is only now just settling in. I'm 25 weeks tomorrow. I think I'm going to start lurking more, as I have so many questions (!). Like for example, I'd LOVE your opinions on baby bottles.

I'd like to have a couple on hand during during the first 3 months and would love your experiences - specifically - with Glass/Plastic, different nipples, and lastly, those 'colic-free' air tube-y things (Dr. Browns) vs traditional bottles.

ETA: I should add that I plan on breast-feeding, and pumping so that DH can do a feeding here and there.

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!
17.gif

Ps. That Boon high chair stole my heart in the 'baby gear' thread (thanks Tacori!!!) and I still swoon every time I see it. Meena looks SO cute in hers.
I registered for it - fingers crossed!!!

Here are my results

10cm ovarian cyst.
2 kidney stones in each kidney.
Need a colonoscopy
14.gif

I am sorry that I am so far behind.
Hope everyone is well.
Keep the pictures coming - they always make my day.

Awww Iluv, I''m so sorry! You poor thing! Are you in pain?

mela lu~We use playtex drop-ins bottles. Love them! They''re super easy and the drop-ins are supposed to help with the air that gets into their bellies. Any other questions you have, feel free to post! That''s what''s so great about this thread...lots of advice and different perspectives and collectively we''ve probably tried most baby products on the market!
9.gif

Thanks Burk- not too much pain. As long as the cyst doesn''t rupture I should be ok.
I will probably need lap. surgery for it.
Kidney stones are still in my kidneys so they don''t hurt.
Really not looking forward to the colonoscopy though

How is T feeling, and how is she treating you these days?
Sorry your date was canceled.
7.gif
Any exciting Valentine''s Day plans?

iluv~So glad all this isn''t causing you pain (aside from mental pain I suppose). Argh...You poor thing! When you you have to have the colonoscopy? That sounds so far from fun!

T has been doing okay. Still a bit fussy and having some pretty restless sleep since the last tooth hasn''t broke through. Feisty as always. No Valentine''s plans besides my hair appointment!
41.gif
You? We''re probably going to reschedule date night to Saturday night. My mom offered to come babysit so we figured we should take her up on it!
21.gif

Burk,
Yes Albuterol makes them jumpy most definitely. The syrup that he was given when he was really haveing a hard time breathing is called Prelone. That stuff really made him wired. I couldn't think of the name last night. Prelone although has bad side effects, it really does a great job when they are really compromised.

iluv, oh not! I hope it doesn''t rupture. I have had about 10 burst and they are so painful! 10 cm is huge! Poor thing. I have heard kidney stones are so horrible too. My mom just had her first colonoscopy and she said it was no biggie. PLEASE take care of yourself! Please!

Mela, I used born free (kinda of a waste of money but BPA free options were few and far between a year ago) and the medela bottles. Loved medela b/c I just hooked it too the pump. Very easy. Now she uses the 11 oz nuby bottles. Love them. EASY for her to hold plus I think they are cute. I did switch out the nipples in the beginning but now they are perfect b/c she leaves her bottle on its side all the time and the nuby ones don''t drip. I have heard the Dr Browns are SUCH a PITA to clean! Plus I wonder if some of the anti-colic stuff is a gimick. Are you going to get the boon????

Burk, hope you guys can have date night on Saturday!

Mela - We use Dr. Brown''s polypropelene (sp?) bottles for James and we love them! He was/is a spitty-uppy baby and they help keep everything down. We use the standard bottles, not the wide neck ones. We tried the Playtex Drop-ins but they are wide neck and James hated them. We started him on the Level 1 nipples and when he switched to Enfamil AR we moved onto the Level 2 nipples, which are a faster flow. Also, we tried the "regular", traditional Gerber and Evenflow BPA free plastic bottles and they were too bubbly and made James'' spit-up issues worse so we donated them. Hope this helps!

This is a drawback of the Dr. Browns. They do provide a pipe cleaner type thing with the bottles to use, but we just use our Avent bottle brush with dishsoap and wash/rinse in the hottest water we can stand. We also throw everything into the dishwasher once a week for good measure.

Another quick drive by--sorry, super swamped at work but I''m trying to read as much as I can!

mela, we use the Born Free bottles because of the BPA thing. Yes, they are super expensive but I fortunately had them from Lily so we are able to just use them again. I wouldn''t buy anything in quantity yet as you don''t know what your little one will like and it would suck to have a billion bottles that you can''t use!

Yes, you are lucky now every company makes BPA free. Also, please realize sometimes the babies have issues with the nipples (which can EASILY we switched out) than the bottles themselves. Wide neck are easier if you end up using formula.

Thanks for all the Bottle advice. This is a good mixed bag of info.

I feel like I won''t truly know until Him''her makes his/her appearance. I like the idea of a bottle that you can change out the nipple...but I wonder if that is just a ''nice to have''?

33.gif

Dr. Browns has different nipples. Does Born Free?

Tacori: saw your earlier post--hope you are doing better today. I can relate. DH is not around during the week (he is at the house "prepping", or I hope that''s what he''s doing!) and I''m at my parents so my mother can take care of the baby. So I only see DH on wkends. This has been going on for a couple months and likely to continue a couple more. I''ve wanted to vent here so many times, but hate to do it. I just try to think ahead. I worry that the baby is not bonding with him...since the wkends are filled with errands and furniture searching. I guess I''m just saying I can relate and you are SO lucky to have such a sweet DH say those things. Mine tends to be on autopilot and when I tell him I''ve had a tough night (if she wakes up a lot for example) and exhausted from the commute, I''m not sure he understands. Hang in there, you''re a great mommy which is why we all go to you for advice!:)

Qtiekiki: I love those photos and the boon is looking stylish!

Snlee: how''s D doing?

Mela Lu: I also purchased Dr. Browns, Born Free and had Medela bottles (since I thought I''d bf) and playtex drop ins. Ironically I''m not bf''ing but still using mostly medela bottles. They say they are BPA free, but I don''t hear people using them as much? I find them more practical because of size, lightweight, etc. Dr. Browns is a pain to clean and Born Free is heavy & expensive! Playtex are great, but for me--don''t work consistently because I need storage at night (smaller bottles work better for freezer pack I have). Can''t believe you''re 25 weeks!!

Dr. Browns has different nipples. Does Born Free?

They ALL have different nipples and they all come out (to clean). I have used gerber and Dr. Brown''s in my nuby bottles before. Start out with slow flow for sure.

mela~most brands have different levels of nipples. Playtex has slow, medium and fast. I think most brands have something similar. T only liked wide necks. You''ll have to buy a few and see what your LO likes.

Lisa~Thanks for coming back with the name of that. I wrote it down for future reference.

Tacori~I hope we get our date night, too. I wish I lived close to you so I could babysit sweet Tessa so you and your DH could have a night out! Her and Miss Tayva would have a blast!!

Thanks so much ladies!!

Tacori - I''m gettin'' that BOON high chair come hell or high water
11.gif
lol. I swoon for la boon! haha

iluv sorry to hear about the news. good to hear though that you are not in pain.

tacori it is not that bad that you get excited to go out without T sometimes. i am the exact same way, especially if i know that B is having a really bad day and i have to get some errands done. generally the front 8 teeth come in then it''s the molars then canines, i believe. i know B was fussy for a few days leading up to them breaking through. good to hear that your DH will be home early. if it makes you feel any better, my DH doesn''t come home until B is in bed.

burk oohhhh....that is the best, hawaii and baby sitting?!?! i hope you guys are able to coordinate something cause it would be so much fun for you too since the ILS would be there. how is T doing? i''m waiting for the one day, soon hopefully, that you will tell us that T is just doing wonderful.

linden heehee, must be tiring for you too when L doesn''t want to go to sleep cause he''s too busy exploring his new found skills. it does get better.

mela i''m a bit late, but we also used born free bottles, but B never really took to them. by them, i mean bottles, not just born free bottles. what type of pump are you using? if you are using medela, you might want to give medela bottles a try, since it''ll be easier that way. and some bottles are so expensive that you do not want to but 10 bottles then have your baby not even like the bottle. for starters, i would use whatever goes with your pump for now.

puffy~Yea, I think Hawaii with built-in child care will be nice! We''re also doing a trip to Minnesota this summer where we''ll all stay in cabins on a lake. IL''s will be going so I''ll have babysitting then too! Tayva is doing wonderful for the most part
3.gif
she just has one tooth that is right at the surface that makes her a fuss pants here and there. Mostly, though, she is her usually spunky, crazy self!
21.gif
Thanks for asking!

Tacori--
You are not a bad mom.
Like others have said, you need time to yourself to recharge.
How exciting about your first real conversation with Tessa!
I have to laugh though at her "throwing" her empty snack trap at you
9.gif

burk minnesota sounds like it''ll be lots of fun! so glad to hear that T is wonderful! now if that tooth just breaks through, i''m sure it''ll make you and her a lot happier. if we do go the disney cruise, we''re thinking about asking the ILS and my parents to join us. i know my parents would join us and they would have a great time and they could help with B also. but the ILS would complain the entire time. and when they would help out with B, they would be doing something that they know i wouldn''t want them doing, like trying to give him some coke again. but if we ask my parents and not the ILS, well, you could imagine what would happen.

iluvcarats--
i'm so sorry to hear about your cyst and stones.
good to know that you are not in pain.
take it easy and rest.
