~Hijack Warning~

divergrrl, I don't know how far you scroll down in the FH&H section, so wanted to let you know there's a post for you, from me, titled "Attn: divergrrl."

K

P.S. We now return to our regularly scheduled program, with my apologies.

P.P.S. What darling babies you all have!

Doc just called back and he changed her meds and is trying some other med that I''ve never heard of as well. He also wants to get an upper GI
7.gif
I know they won''t be able to get me in for a couple weeks so I''m going to hope the new med combo will be enough to help so we don''t have to do the upper GI!
7.gif
Gabe had an upper GI, and trust me it''s not TOO horrible. It will hurt you to watch her cry, but the actual procedure isn''t painful for Tayva, I swear! She''ll just cry from being held down. And if they can find what''s causing her so much pain, then the few minutes of discomfort will all be worth it. Poor little sweetiegirl. And hopefully they can get her in sooner rather than later - they usually will try to see babies younger than six months ASAP.

Diver, you can always remember roughly how old Amelia, Jake, and Co are because Amelia is an April Fool''s baby, remember?

Oh my gosh, YES, and of course Jadelyn! I''m fried from the heat. My apologies to the girl with the best hair on PS!

Litchick--i don''t really mind getting up with cohen once or twice, esp if i am getting some sleep, but with my sleep issues i would *gladly* have him pull an "amelia" and sleep 8 hours straight (heck, 4 straight would be good this week!)

Tgal--Cohen hasn''t be weighed lately but i bet he is in the 13+ lbs range--physiologically he should be able to go 5-6 hours if BF (according to the BW that is considered thru the night) and that is what he has always done--so i am crossing my fingers that tonight is the night he goes back to his old ways

Yup, 5-6 hours counts as sleeping through the night.

I just put the kid down. It was one of those days that I was SOOO happy to be able to say goodnight! Nothing too crazy...just tired. Plus Amelia has discovered her lungs. She has been into this screaming kick. Argh.

OMG Tgal--Cohen can SCREAM now as well--unbelievable, i have to cover my ears sometimes--and a temper to boot. Isn''t it funny how all these things happen at the same time, it''s neat to share it with you guys. I bet Jadelyn and Jake are all lungs right now too.

i am off to bed

I have to get my passport renewed tomorrow and i bet i''ll look just gorgeous with bags under my eyes in that mug-shot. Ick, and i have to keep it for 5 years
5.gif

Jas, I''ve told Amelia I am not amused. She stares at me. I stare back. Then she screams again. This is the beginning of some serious attitude. I know it.

Goodnight...here''s hoping you get some good rest and wake up bagless!

yep, jake''s figured out how to get my attention with the blood curling scream too. he cracks me up b/c he gets the huge frown/sad face right before he turns red and screams...it''s like a 15 sec. warning that''s he''s about to blow. I''ll have to try and get a pic of the pre-scream frown b/c it really is cute.

I cannot believe he''s going to be 3 months old tomorrow

YAY! Thanks Andrey for making us a sticky!!!

Hey, if Jake is 3 months tomorrow, that means Jadelyn is 3 months today! Happy 3 months to you Jadelyn, and happy early 3 months to Jake and Co!

At least you get a warning MrsS. Amelia is a stealth screamer. She can scream from a SMILE.

Happy 3 month Jadelyn!!!

MrsS - yes, please get a pic of Jake''s sad face. I''m glad I''m not the only one who thinks pouty babies are adorable.
And happy early 3 month B-Day to your lil man!

Okay - I''m officially joining the PS mommies thread! Check out the preggo thread with pics of my little guy, James Emerson. He made a surprise appearance at only 36 weeks, 4 days gestation but mommy and baby are doing great.

Speaking of screamers - boy does he have a set of lungs on him! Whew! He can go from sweet to red and screaming in a matter of seconds.

I am giving breastfeeding my best shot. My milk came in overnight and ouchie ouchie ouchie! I had to get James to the breast to relive the pain but he''s figured out that the bottle nipple is much easier to tolerate so we''re struggling a bit. I contacted the lactation nurse and got some good advice that I''m putting to good use. The hospital sent me home with a manual pump so that helps too. I''m calling the hospital tomorrow to rent one of their electric pumps - I used one in the hospital and it was wonderful.

Jess

Welcome Diva & Congrats again on your little mans arrival. He is an absolute doll!

SB, yes it is against the rules to post it (I checked with the mods sometime back when I wanted to share some Amelia's video birth announcement).

(However, I took a peek since you posted it and she is so cute, I could just bite her!)

ETA to remove the quote, because it has the link it in. DOY!

I posted on the Preggo thread but I''ll say it again...he''s beautiful!

Welcome to the mommy thread! Hopefully BFing will go well for you. Keep at the breast (and forego the bottle for a few weeks if you can), and hopefully he''ll go back to it. I had no milk and supplemented with a SNS for weeks (a tube you tape to your breast to give the baby formula along with whatever breastmilk you have) and it really helped her learn to suckle. Even after all that, once we introduced her to the bottle, she developed a preference very quickly to the easy milk....but she still uses her jaw the way she did on the breast though.

Ooops, I''ve asked the mods to remove it. Hope I don''t get in trouble. :O(

If you''re ever in LA, I''ll let you have a nibble. LoL

SB, I live in LA.

hello ladies!!! just wanted to check and thank u all for ur wishes !! the past 2 nites have been great..Little K slept MUCH better at night and gave us some peace and quiet..phew!!! i honestly didnt know how i would last another week with almost no sleep...wat did i do?? nothing major to be honest..i changed his pj''s from footed pjs to pjs with no coverings on his feet (thought that might help air circulate) and i changed the position of the bed so that it gets more air from the air conditioner (it is HOT HOT HOT here)....

anyhoo, i gotta go to work now so wont have time to respond to all the posts but just wanted to say congrats Diva and welcome to mommy world =D

Msb--glad you got some sleep, i can certainly empathize with you and sleep deprivation

Diva--welcome to the mommy thread!

MrsS. i would love to see the screaming Jake face--i''ll try to get one of Co as well. Like Amelia, he gives me almost no warning. Yesterday when he threw one of his fits i knew it was b/c he was hungry. He went from a display of red-faced, gasping for air, absolute disgust with the world to cooing and smiling at the breast in ohhh, about 20 seconds
20.gif

(and i think the tantrums are cute, but i am trying not to let on
3.gif

Tgal--i always forget you live in LA--sounds so glamorous to me. I remember the first time i visisted Venice, it seemed unbelievable that ppl actually lived there and i kinda feel the same way about LA--regular folk aren''t supposed to be among the celebs
2.gif

So Cohen still woke up waaaay too early in night, but he did go down for another 4 hours, so only 2 wake-ups instead of 3--i''ll take it.

Thanks Tgal and Ella!

Diva~Glad to have you here! I just popped over to check out your little guy. He is darling. Sooo tiny. Breastfeeding is not easy. Hang in there and remember we're all here for support!

msb~Glad K is sleeping better! (and you too!

)

I cannot believe all the babies that are 3 months old (or there abouts) already! Seems like they were JUST born. Time goes so fast! I would love to see pics of the pre-scream faces.
2.gif
T does a little sad quivery lip thing before she cries. It's pretty darn cute.

On the T tummy problem front: our pharmacy is stupid and only had one of her meds ready when I got there yesterday. They said the other needed to be approved through the insurance co and could take up to 72 hours?
29.gif
. When I called the doc today to ask about dose on the prilosec the nurse said that the pharmacy screwed up and to call back and make sure they fill it TODAY
16.gif
T went down at 6:30 last night. Woke up this morning at 5:30 and fell back asleep drinking her morning bottle. I had to wake her at 8:15 to go to volleyball conditioning. I think she's finally starting to "catch up" on the lack of sleep she got the past week. Thank goodness.

msb, glad to hear things are better. It's scary when they don't sleep well...you wonder if it's the beginning of a LOOONG phase!

Burk, if I were you, I probably would have lost it by now. The poor pharmacist wouldn't have known what hit him.
41.gif
Glad that Tayva is catching up on her sleep.

LOL Jas...you're more patient than I am. I don't think Amelia's tantrums are cute. I just look at her and think "Good Lord! That's a lotta noise coming from a little body!"

Venice is trippy, isn't it? When I went there, I was floored...and this was after several weeks of travel (thus the wow factor was harder to come by). They actually call it the dead city because a lot of people don't actually live there except for the tourist trade. The population keeps dwindling, I think...but don't quote me on that.

L.A. is a vast area and I live in what feels more like a smaller city (at least to me). We have "hometown fairs" every year and there are local farmer's markets and I love it. I haven't seen very many celebs in my lifetime here. However my actual hometown is such a ritzy area now that I hear there are lots of celebs moving in (Brittany Spears was rumored to be looking for a home there and I think she's been seen at the local Ralph's supermarket that we shopped at when I was a kid...which has been totally redone to be much more fancy btw). I'll never be able to live there again, and that makes me sad.

Good to hear that Co only woke up twice...gotta count the blessings, right?

So I'm a crappy mom. Amelia was cooing in her crib at just before 6 this morning and I go to her closer to seven so I laid in bed for awhile....only to wake up at 8:40!!!!
38.gif
39.gif
Holy smokes did I feel like a horrible mom! She was just sitting there playing away while I made up her bottle as quickly as possible. She sucked that thing down like no tomorrow. Considering how much she screamed yesterday, she chose this morning to be patient? Sheesh!! I'm deaf in my left ear so I must not have heard anything, but from now on I am setting my alarm (which I always hear) at 7 am so she doesn't have to wait an hour and a half for her food. Ugh!

Burk I have been lurking and following poor Tayva''s tummy saga... I''m just curious: Do doctors know what causes reflux to begin with? Just wondering, if you have time to post and answer, great, if not, no worries!
9.gif

Burk--geez, what a battle u have been thru w/ the reflux! Glad she is at least getting some zzz''s. Are you a v-ball player or coach?

Tgal--yes, venice is ''trippy'' i have been 3 times and it never gets old. Not sure what the population is,i am sure it is dwindling but ppl do still live there--real estate is crazy (i always like to check out the boards when i am visiting a new city)
i would luv to see LA sometime--if you saw where i live right now you would understand why i think *any* part of LA is glamorous. I am more in ''cottage country'' and joke that i have to drive at least 4 hours to hit civilization
3.gif

--Amelia is one patient baby, if that were Cohen he would have had the neighbours up. I wouldn''t feel too guilty, she would have been screaming if she were really that unhappy

Tgal~oh, believe me, I''ve had my moments!
6.gif
Last Friday (4th of July) when T would not nap and DH was at a golf outing/pool outing for the bar/restaurant we own and decided to stay there ALL day while I dealt with sad baby....let''s just say DH was scared of me when he finally rolled in! I''m usually a pretty patient person (I DO teach middle school
2.gif
) but I was a little snappy at the pharmacy last night. And you are NOT a crappy mom. If she was unhappy or hungry she would have let you know!

Dreamer~Hi! Here is a pretty good website that explains reflux WAY better than I could: http://home.vicnet.net.au/~disa/GOR%20Baby.html She is going through a swallow test where they watch her throat through an X-ray type thing while she drinks a bottle. This will let them know if there is something actually wrong that needs correction or if she will just need to grow out of it. They also think that because she is intollerant to milk, soy and corn that attributes to the fact that she has tummy pain. Many babies have reflux, not so many have it as bad as my T. Hope that helps.

Jas~Yep, been through it all with this poor kid. Hubby and I keep saying that baby number two is going to be a breeze in comparison! She really is a sweet girl....I think that''s what makes me SO sad. She has so much personality and smiles pretty much non stop when she feels good, but when her tummy hurts-watch out! I am a varsity volleyball coach at a highschool in town. I still play here and there in sand tourneys and in some adult leagues and with my high school players. I run conditioning for my players 2 days a week. I typically do a lot of it with them (especially all the core work) so I don''t have to go to the gym on those days!
2.gif

Thanks Burk, I read that link and it answered my questions. I was really curious about the role played by food intolerance. That must make it very challenging to find foods that she can manage! I hope you find the solution soon!

Jas, where you live sounds lovely to me...a place where you don''t have to worry you''re going to get shot on the freeway. I worry about Amelia growing up in LA...but I guess we ended up OK, so there is hope for her. LA truly is NOT a great tourist town (most people hate it when they visit, but they go to all the wrong places). It''s a cool place to live, IF you live in the right area and don''t have to commute far to work. California is a gorgeous state and I have to travel and see it from time to time to remind myself how fantastic it is. La Jolla, Big Sur, Yosemite, Carmel, and the list goes on and on. The landscape is so varied and vast...we have mountains, beaches and desert...it''s awesome. Oh, and kick a** climate!

Ha, Burk...sometimes men just don''t get it sometimes...they love to play and totally forget about homelife while they are doing it. Whereas us, even when we are "free", we always think about the baby and that we should get back soon. As far as moods go, first thing that TGuy says when he walks in through the door is "How was she?" If I say "one of those days," he is a lot more careful with me. In fact, he normally gives me a beer before he says too many more words!!

Thanks for the "you''re not a horrible mom" votes of confidence. I guess all moms have mommy guilt from time to time. I just wonder how many more "oops" I can do in her life. I did something today by accident that was just awful (I''m not talking about the missed morning feeding). I''m too embarrassed to share.

Hello to all the mummies - I''m enjoying reading about your experiences with sleep. I remember being shocked when my son was born how important sleep suddenly became to me as I have always been someone who could function on relatively little sleep. My son is 3.5 now and I am still obsessed with his sleep. Of course it doesn''t help that when he turned 3 he decided it was fun to start calling out to his parents in the middle of the night for various things such as a drink of water or wanting his ''blankies'' pulled up. We are still waiting for him to stop it. Thank God his younger sister has yet to discover this ''power''.

TGal - another LA gal, surprise surprise! I''m a member of another baby board and there are NO mommas in my area so I guess I assume it''s the same everywhere.
Maybe we need to have a PS mommies/mommies-to-be GTG so we can show off babies and bling!
As for Amelia waiting for food, I''m with Burk, she wouldn''t have stayed happy and calm if she really wanted her bottle. The fact that she stayed content so long just goes to show what a great mommy you are.

msb & Burk - Glad to hear your babies are sleeping better. It seems Sabrina has transitioned from 3 to 2 naps and that''s been the reason for her attitude of late. I think she''s finally adjusted to her new schedule because we''ve gotten some decent sleep the last couple nights and we''re both in much better moods for it.

Hi Softly! That''s funny about the "power".

SB, yup...I think I remember you were from LA because didn''t you attend an LA GTG once? It was one of the first ones I remember reading about on PS. I believe Qtiekiki, MsF and lili are all from the LA/OC area, so there are a few of us on the preggo/mom thread that are SoCalers. I think you met qtiekiki and maybe MsF? Diver is coming out to LA in October and was asking about a GTG then. To be honest, I am not a GTG person, but I''d probably consider this one (although it looks already like timing is going to be bad as 2 out of my 4 weekends that month are already booked).

Glad to hear you got more sleep. Seems like sleep is something that consumes us all!!
