burk i know that feeling of appliances!! when we did our remodel, we spent SO much on appliances, but thank goodness DH was ok with it. this isn''t going to be your final home? WOW to T''s brekkie!!! my goodness, your girl can EAT!!!

tacori 1 lb is good!!! but no sugar is way too tough for me! i need my sugar. haha. and i also LOVE our BOB. it really is a great stroller. if i can only get B to sit in it and stay in it, that would be great!

nyc that''s great that you have help from your family!! sorry to hear about the "baby blues," but i hope you are doing better.

janine heehee, everyone is the same way. they wait and wait for thier kids to start being mobile, then the kids are mobile, and all we do is ask, "WHY??" haha. but it is definitely fun!

blen hope you and george are doing better.

off to look for another laptop. i''m deciding between a sony vaio and another macbook. i love my macbook, but i have always wanted a PINK vaio.

Puffy,

Do you hope this baby is a girl, or would another boy be your preference? I always wonder about that with #2....

puffy~When we renovated our current kitchen we didn''t go "all out" so I kind of want to this time even though it is not our final house. We''ll probably be in this house for 5-10 years or so and great appliances will help with resale. Speaking of, I''m reading that stainless steal is "going out of style" what do you all think?

Jumping in to say congrats Puffy! How exciting and scary at the same time!

Burk, I hear it''s going out of style too - I still like the look but wouldn''t buy it as there are other looks I like better.

Puffy, I am not sure if I should recommend the macbook after all the trouble Tacori had, but I have had many issues with VAIOs. I''ve had three of them. 2 out of 3 were serious duds. In fact, you may recall I was out a computer for a full month a couple of weeks ago because I hard a hard drive crash. Yup, it was a VAIO.

That being said, I''ve dropped the hell out of them and they survived (mostly).

Off to A''s OT appointment today. Tomorrow I have a root canal so it will be awhile before I can really catch up I think.

Behind as usual
20.gif

Burk - We have dbl ovens and six burners and I love it!

Tacori - No sugar
23.gif
Good for you! I agree with Burk. A 30 day trip = more than a band
11.gif

NF - Hope DH gets the offer!

Hi everyone
35.gif
Will catch up later

Macbook problems=my fault. I used third party ram (Kingston) that was corrupting my computer. Apple was awesome at fixing/replacing my laptop every time so I would not shy away from them.

Burk, stainless is probably going out of style. I really think granite is. I still like stainless though. I would buy/use what you like b/c chances are you will always be behind the curve. I meant to mention you should consider NOT using lever style door handles. Babies open them SOOOO much easier which is a PITA! I am glad we have the round. She can only open a crawl space one (and locked the cat in there) b/c it is a small door with a lower handle.

Puffy, I love my sugar too. Been loading up on sugar free pudding. It is good! But I still miss all my snacks.

As for my bribe there is also some furniture I want that may take over the bling *gasp* But I know I want to get a pendant, bigger studs and two thin bands. The pendant will be last since babies love to pull on them.
20.gif

fisher honestly, i would be lying if i told you i had no preference. i would LOVE to have a girl of course. DH prefers another boy. but i know whatever we have, i will be just as happy as long as he/she is healthy.

burk i love stainless steel still. great appliances would totally help with resale and you get to use them in the mean time. and 5-10 years doesn''t seem to be THAT long, but it is, and you might as well have awesome appliances for that time.

tgal good luck with the root canal!! i have the last generation macbook and i absolutely love it. i''m not sure if i can use a PC anymore. haha. i also have the imac, so i guess i''m a mac gal. i''m leaning more towards the macbook though. i know tons of people who have the newer ones with no problems. how is amelia doing?

iluv how are you doing? and the kids? any more funny stories to tell? i love your kid stories.

Hi Puffy!
We are all fine, thanks for asking!
School started back up Mon.

36.gif
and DH should be back on Thursday

new Sam Story

I was getting him ready for bed, but couldn't find a pajama top, so I found an old Tshirt.
He said "Mom, that's from when I was 5"
I said "That's what you do with old t-shirts, you wear them to bed. I wear my old t-shirts to bed"

He thought a minute and then asked "So you wear your old shirts from when you were 37?"
9.gif

How are you feeling?

QT, your new avi cracks me up! M is hilarious!

DIVA, yay for James'' first tooth!

PAVE, yay for a great appointment! So glad Tyler is doing well!

BURK, even if stainless steal is going out of style, I still like it.

PUFFY, so did you take another test? Another dark line? Sorry to hear about your laptop! I vote for another macbook! I love mine. and since I making the switch over to mac at work too, I don''t think I''ll EVER go back to a PC!

NYC, hang in there! The beginning is very tough.

JANINE, D''s teeth haven''t made an appearance yet. It''s sharp and about it come through any day now. So exciting that Chloe is a mover now! I''m sure it''s bittersweet. Hope your new house is baby proofed.

DREAMER, you are lucky! Be thankful you have a great sleeper!

TGAL, good luck with the root canal!

tacori hmmmm, i don''t like anything that is sugar free. i can''t get used to the taste of it. are you serious....furniture over bling?? i think upgraded studs would be wonderful and the thin bands. when B was younger and loved to pull on my necklaces, he actually broke one and my diamond pendant came out and i had no idea. thank god we were at home and HE actually found it later on and gave it to me.

iluv haha!!! your kids crack me up!! that story is hilarious. glad that you guys are all doing well.

snlee yeah, that''s what i was thinking. i really don''t think i even know how to use a PC anymore. DH has a PC, and i am so clueless. haha. i love my macs. so i will most likely get another one. as soon as B wakes up, we''re heading to the apple store.

have a great day everyone!!!

Ekk! Good thing B found your diamond pendant! D has started pulling on my necklaces so a few weeks ago, I took off my diamond pendant. I''m sad I don''t get to wear it anymore but I don''t want him to break it! I''m wearing a Tiffany silver necklace now. Tacori, I''d get some thin bands over a pendant or earring upgrade. I love rings cause you can see them!

QT
LOL....great avi. Love her cheeky grin!
Sooo cute! And I love how fuzzy her hair is coming in.

Dreamer - THANK YOU THANK YOU! All of that is EXACTLY what I wanted to know. Eating and Sleeping are tied, I believe, so it makes sense that you cannot talk about one without the other. Um, what is cluster feeding? Why have I not read about that?

also, do you swaddle in a regular receiving blanket or do you have anything fancy shmancy that you recommend?

Bobo
Yea, she did get a fever from the 1 yr checkup shot.
She''s feeling much better now, but still has a whole lot of mucous.

Any luck on your "fatten B up" mission?
J does like toast. I do put some butter on it -- not too much though since it can get too greasy when she hold it.
I think she''s getting plenty of calories a day from the quarter of an avocado, half a yo baby yogurt and a string cheese that she eats.
She is growing in height (if I believe the number they measured her) and her weight did go up, so I''m not too concern about it.

You''ll have to post picture of the helmet when you get it
5.gif

Burk
How''s T? Infection and asthma gone? Is she still doing the nube (sp?) treatment?
Yay for starting work on your house....boo for conflict w/ DH over appliances already.
Hehe, tell hubby to step out of *your* kitchen
41.gif

DD
I''m so jealous of your good sleeper!

Diva
Yay for tooth.
The second one should follow shortly.

Tacori
I thought T is the boss now?
9.gif

I hear you on doing short trips.
So, what does your hubby intend to do on his 30-day trip?
Just jet ski the entire time?

puffy
Congrats again and I'm so excited for you.
Your hubby is too funny. It hasn't been that long since you guys made little B
41.gif

How exciting that they are going to be around 2 yrs apart.

Bummer about your laptop.
Hey, now you can get a brand spanking new one.

Pave
Yay for the good appt.
Too funny about your hubby and dressing T.
DH is the same way too. As long as J is clothe, she''s presentable to the public.
It wasn''t too bad when she was younger and in our arms. Now that she''s mobile, she looks so sloppy w/ her mismatched clothes
41.gif

I think both our hubbies need a lesson from Mr Bobo''s since he''s the styling one for little B
5.gif

TGal
Ouch...that''s no fun.
Hope the procedure is fast and painless.

NYC
Sorry to hear that you got the "babies blues".
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for reassuring me on the double ovens. DH says it''s a wasted $3500 on a house that isn''t our final house.
20.gif
Our appliances are looking to be pretty expensive, though, and we''re thinking about just paying for them out of our pocket instead of having them in the mortgage.

Just have to share the huge breakie my little girl ate this morning: 5 french toast sticks, 5 mini muffins, a bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit and a nutrigrain bar!!
23.gif
Hopefully that means she''s putting on some weight!

You will be leaving the appliances w/ the house when you guys sell it no?
Woudn''t that be a good selling point?

Wow, T has a really good appetite.
She eats more than J does in a whole week combined.

Finger foods question
Our pedi says we can give M yogurt, cheese and eggs among other finger foods. How big do you cut the cheese? M can feed herself puffs and other harder food very well, but has a hard time with softer food (well she just kind of mashes them). Do they learn to use a softer grasp?

Will catch up later tonight.

QT
Depends on what type of cheese you give her.
I gave string cheese to J. Cut them in half lengthwise first and peel off a quarter of it for her.
W/ sliced cheese, I just break it into smaller pieces. W/ thicker cheese, I cut them into cubes. She seems to like the string cheese best.

Regarding other softer food, you can offer her frozen first (like frozen peas, frozen blueberries, etc).
J didn't like the fresh or frozen fruits as much, she prefers the freeze-dried ones (they are brittle like a biscuit).

I think they already have a softer grasp.
They just like to squished their soft food -- feeling the textures of different thing.
I say this cuz I've seen J picks up fresh blueberries just fine initially.
She'll pick it up very delicately and looked at it. Then she used all her might and squished it.
Same thing with the fresh banana -- likes to see or feel the banana oozed out between her fingers.
I guess it's just one of those things that you'll have to close your eyes and let them make a mess for a while
9.gif

Oh, w/ fresh banana, you can cut them into halves or thirds and poke your finger down the center of the banana.
It will separate into 3 sections lengthwise.

Hehe, that avi gets me everytime.
Tooo cute and funny.
9.gif

I, Dreamer, do faithfully swear that I know I am a lucky ducky and henceforth I shall thank the baby gods each night for my son''s good sleep habits
9.gif

In all seriousness, I do know I am lucky. My best friends have kids who are terrible sleepers and it is so hard for them! I know that we are in for it with number two, just to balance the equation in our family.
41.gif

Mela I swaddle in two layers--first the swaddle-me and then a receiving blanket. Keeps him really tight so he can''t break free

Blen That first one.

Tgal~Yuck to the root canal!

iluv~Just told DH you guys have convinced me there is no other way but double ovens!
12.gif
He finally just said "whatever you want." I hope every decision doesn''t take this long for me to win!
3.gif
Love the Sam story! Soo cute!

Tacori~I think you''re absolutely right. I prefer the look of stainless so that''s what I''m going with (with the exception of the satin finish Sears has for the fridge because it looks like stainless but you can use magnets and it doesn''t get as dirty). I was just trying to think long term since this isn''t our final house but I need to do what I''ll enjoy since it''ll be MY house. I''d prefer quartz counter tops, but we''ll see when we go to look tomorrow. Good call about the door handles...I''ve already vetoed them!
21.gif
Maybe you should get your bands and the furniture. Best of both worlds!
11.gif

puffy~I like the stainless, too. I read this article about these bronze finished appliances and I''m just not digging them for our house. We''re going to look for appliances tomorrow. Oh, and I''m a total mac girl and will never go back!

snlee~Thanks! At least I know you guys will like my kitchen if I post pics!!

lili~T is doing better, thanks for asking. Down to 2 nebulizer treatments a day and only a couple days left of antibiotics. How about J? I explained to hubby that he can talk about *my* kitchen when I have say about the 3 car garage with additional "work space"
5.gif
I think that the double ovens will be a selling point and it''s worth the money for how much we''ll use them entertaining and such. As for the breakfast-not typical but not really surprising because breakfast is her favorite meal and she''s been eating like crazy lately. Thinking probably a growth spurt because she''s been sleeping a lot too (went to bed at 5:30 the other night!
6.gif
and slept until 7:30)

DD- the swaddling thing is driving me nuts bc they are too small for the swaddle mes and the receiving blankets that I have (from BRU) seem to small to really have a tight fit ...I think they are 20x20 but I hear 40x40 are better so u can tie it up properly....
So does anyone know where to find the thin receiving blankets that are a bit bigger?

tgal-good luck with the root canal...eek...it just sounds painful...

puffy-i''ve only owned macs so no advice but i just got a new macbook after having an ibook for 6 years. love the macbook! how are your feeling? are you going to the dr. to confirm the pregnancy?

qt: we did it pretty much the same thing as lili...

burk-I say pick what you like for your house. even if you''re not planning on it being your forever house, you just don''t know what life may bring and may end up staying for longer than you plan. so, you might as well love everything you can about it since you get to build it from scratch. glad t is doing better too.

tacori-you have got some serious discipline to do no sugar. way to go!!

lili heehee, thanks. that''s what i told DH....it hasn''t been THAT long! haha. how is J doing? hope she is doing better. don''t know if i commented, but that AV pic makes me smile. she''s such a beautiful little girl.

burk YAY for the double oven!! there IS no other way! i don''t think that i can like bronze finish appliances..just not me. i''ve used a mac for years and the only reason i would consider a PC is for the PINK vaio...i like pink! haha. how is T doing? glad to hear that her treatments are down to 2 a day. that poor girl.

mrsS i was reading about the new macbooks, and i think i like them. there are a lot of things that it has that mine didn''t. i''m doing pretty well. i thought i would be a lot more tired and exhausted, but not too bad for now. thanks for asking. i go to the doc next week, and i''m sure it''ll be a lot more real then.

snlee yeah, i was so lucky that B found the pendant. you are so smart for taking off the diamond pendant now. how is D doing? hope he is still sleeping well!!

we''re going to apple tomorrow to check out the macbook, and i am 99.99% sure that i will walk out with a new one.

Thanks ladies for the good luck. The whole thing has been extremely stressful, even for a relatively laid back person like me. Not just the root canal, but everything that has been going on with my front two teeth. I won''t go into it because it''s just a downer story.

Had to stop by in to say that every time I see puffy and QT''s new av, I die laughing.

Well I obviously angered the baby sleep gods with my hubris and last night Hunter woke at 2am, 3:30am, 6am, and then 7am to feed! Little stinker must be growing. I am finding my milk supply isn''t cutting it for him right now! Before bed there was hardly any milk for him. I think I am going to take some belssed thistle to try and increase it, even though it makes my armpit smell like curry.

TGal, I''m so sorry!! Pain in the mouth is just the worst, I hope it is resolved quickly.

And ditto about the two avatars! Smiling babies are hilarious!

Just a quick drive by and I'll try to come back later to catch up but wanted to help a mama in need!

nyc, try the Aden + Anais muslin swaddling blankets. They are big, lightweight and useful. I don't think BRU has them but Buy Buy Baby definitely does if you can send someone into the city for you. I'm not sure where in BK you are but I'll bet a lot of the kids' boutiques there sell them too. Good luck, it will get better...

Thanks Dreamer!

That''s the irony DD - I have no pain at all. Haven''t for years. But after this work, I am sure the pain is going to return. Thanks for your thoughts though!
