Puffy, congratulations! How exciting! It''s so much fun to read about all the lovely PS babies.

Sorry to threadjack, ladies!

Tacori, I know you check this thread often, so I wanted to leave you a note. Mr. Zoe and I are in Charlotte for a few days because he''s hoping to meet with a few recruiters and possibly a company down here. We literally just checked into our hotel in Uptown, and we''re heading back home on Saturday. We haven''t had a chance to walk around yet but we hope to get to know the area somewhat throughout the week. We''re thinking of even contacting a realtor who can show us around and recommend a few good areas to focus on -- just in case. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that we finally made it (I''ve mentioned it a few times but we never made it down in the past). Do you have any places you''d recommend we check out? Actually, I''ll look up the other threads...

Pave, looks like Tyler is loving the cereal

snlee, yay on the first tooth!

LIA, hope Coby will find a solid he like soon. Have you try avocado? Little B is doing well, thanks for asking. Our living room is full with his toys, but the current favor is the diaper box and his bumbo chair box. He like to climb on top of them.

Give the straw cup a try, little B won''t take sippy cup in the beginning too and we had luck with the straw cup. That is the cutest poker face I ever seen.

Burk, yay on finding a new builder!!

DD, sorry to hear no more cute picture of Hunter but totally understandable.

Qtiekiki, give the box a try, little B love to climb in and out and on top of it. He is in a climbing phase. I need to get him a helmet soon

lili, sorry to hear about the fever, is it because of the shots? Hope the ear infection will go away soon. Thanks for the info. the helmet is really cute and I need to get one for him soon. He is in a climbing phase, want to climb everything.

Does J like toast? If she does you can put butter on it to add calorie, that is another tip from the nutritionist. Love the new avatar!

Puffy, congrats!!

snlee~Thanks! We''re pretty excited about our house.

Tacori~There are soooo many jewelry options. Who knows what will be on your wish list by then! I love chocolate! Hope you make it the whole week and see a change.

QT~Glad the walk went well. I think DH was happy to be able to cancel his trip...thank goodness he did, though, because doing this house stuff without him would have been too much I think. We''ll probably all be preggo together again!!

puffy~Congrats!! So you must have been not preventing without letting on, huh? I have to say I''m kind of jealous...I really was hoping we''d get preggo by "not preventing" because I don''t want to have to think about trying YKWIM? Oh, well. We''re going to try and time things next month so we''ll be officially trying I guess in May. So excited for you!

lili~Thanks!! Sorry poor J isn''t feeling well again. T has an ear infection too....they suck!

Be back in a minute....

Bobo~Thank you!

We met with the builder and architect today and things went GREAT! The architect is a genius! Should have the plan by the beginning of next week. Yay!

Just a quick drive by to say:

puffy, CONGRATULATIONS!! I''m excited to have you join the 2 under 2 club!!!!! Hope you''re feeling great and have an easy 9 months--trust me, this pregnancy will FLY by so try to enjoy it!!

I am so far behind!! I''ve been super busy at work and trying to make life easier for my MIL since she came home on Friday.

I do have some great news though - James has a tooth
36.gif
36.gif
I stuck my finger in there today just to feel around and there it was! I haven''t been able to get a good look at it yet because he does not like having anybody poke around in his mouth, but it''s def. a tooth. Too sharp to be anything else.

PUFFY - OMG!!! I am sooo excited for you! Have a happy and healthy nine months!

I''ll try to catch up with everybody else later this week!

Q, what is it with our moms standing up for our DHs?
20.gif
I totally get what you are saying about M. T has been walking for so long now they haven''t been surprised by her age in awhile. M is just doing things in her own way and at her own pace. No need to worry.

Puffy, glad you will still want to meet me
2.gif
She is the life of the party thought *sigh*. I cannot have (real) chocolate until Thursday
7.gif
I did just have a sugar free pudding which was AWESOME. CONGRATS ON BABY #2!!! B will be an awesome older brother! When do you go to the doctor?

Lili, I am not big on jet skiing but he likes it. I will do SMALL trips (like an hour or two). I think he does know I am a cool wife. People tell him. My dining room table is a pool table so it is easy to see who is boss in our relationship. J is perfect, skinny and all. Wish I was skinny.

Zoe, you are HERE!?!? If you have warned me we could have tried to arrange a GTG! Meeting with an agent would be a good idea. Do you like the suburbs, city, country? Obviously budget is important. You can get awesome deals right now. We life in the burbs but I can still walk to Target, shopping, restaurants, etc..I love it. I don''t know that much about uptown. I know DH loves eating at Rock Bottom. Mint Art and Craft museum is nice. For high end shopping try SouthPark mall. Dilworth area and NoDa is fun.

Burk, I hope I start seeing some changes too. This is tough. I am thinking of getting two thin diamond bands to wear with my Tessa band.

Diva, yay for J''s tooth!

PUFFY---Congratulations!!! Eek!! So exciting!!

DD/Snlee,

I totally understand about not posting your babies. I love and adore coming here to read up on the lives of mommyhood, and to see precious little drooling babies, but I really do understand choosing not to do so. Paul has already told me that he doesn''t even want me to post belly pictures because he feels like that''s "exposing" his child on the internet. Eh.

thanks ladies. it has definitely "hit" me now. i still can''t get over DH''s reaction...."huh, how did THAT happen???" and the funny thing was that he looked so innocent like he was really curious as to how it happened. so i told him.."it must have been that one time!!!"

diva YAY for James'' tooth!!

tacori she sure sounds like the life of the party, but i''m sure she must get some of that from you. just be sure to reward yourself with a BIG piece of chocolate on thursday!! i go to the doc on may 5th, but i''m pretty sure i''m farther along than i thought i was. when i took the test, the line appeared super quick and dark. we''ll see.

burk i hope you get preggo soon so you can join me in this little adventure. we were seriously not trying or not-not preventing. who knew i was such a fertile myrtle. with your house stuff going on, i''m sure you getting preggo will happen when it''s meant to happen for you guys, but i sure hope it''s soon.

qt the kiddos will be about 13 months or so apart, i think.

curly i''m hoping to handle it just as well as you, and hope my kiddos will be just as great together as yours are.

hi everyone else....thanks again for all the congrats!!!

puffy- congrats! that is awesome...

Hahaha...yes, we''re here! We JUST decided late Saturday night to fly down, and it took a while to get our flights straightened out. We took the scenic route from Boston this morning -- we flew from Boston to Chicago, then to St. Louis, and then finally, we landed in Charlotte. It wasn''t exactly the most direct way to get here, but it was the cheapest. Anyway, we''re absolutely exhausted, but I wanted to check in to see if you had read my post. I''m on spring break this week, so it worked out for me to fly down with Mr. Zoe. I would have tried to see if you wanted to get together earlier, but like I said, it was kind of a last minute decision for me to come. Let me know if you would like to meet up, and I''m sure there will be time. My husband is still working on the details of scheduling interviews, but we''re here for the whole week, so I''m assuming there will be plenty of down time.

I think both my husband and I would like the burbs as opposed to living right in the city. We''re used to living in an area where you pretty much have to drive if you want to go shopping, etc. That''s not a big deal for us. If we could walk to a few things though, even better.

I wish there was a way for us to communicate another way, so I don''t have to take up space in this thread (sorry mommies!). I''m off to bed now -- it''s been a long day. I think my husband and I are going to get up early and he''s going to try to start the ball rolling, as far as getting appointments with recruiters he''s spoken with. I''m going to begin looking for a realtor to show us around. Thanks for the tips!

I''d love to meet you, but I know it''s VERY last minute notice. Let me know if you''d like to try though, and I''m sure we can figure something out. We leave Saturday, late morning.

Tacori~Good job staying strong with the sugar! I like the idea of the bands to stack with your Tessa band! I''m thinking a 30 day trip is worth more than that though!
11.gif

puffy~yea, it will happen when it''s supposed to. I''m not really in any hurry, but it was way easier last time when it was an "accident" and I didn''t have to think about it. Am I wrong in that you would be due in January? I got preggo in April with T and had her January 18th. How will this effect your planned trips you didn''t want to miss?

So, we''re all of what 1 day into the design process and DH and I are already arguing about appliances!
20.gif
I think I need double ovens. That''s reasonable, right?

Hi Guys(Ladies)- hope y''all are doing good. I wanted to thank you for all the good wishes for Tyler''s Echo! He got a great report from the cardiologist so we are good for a bit- We will get another echo and a lung scan at 1 yr of age. Otherwise we are clear for a while from that standpoint. We went to the developmental clinic today too. All the babies that had surgery are seen there(I think) or that spent time in the nicu too I think. Anyway, we got evaluated and Tyler was good in some points and some areas he was a bit behind. So they said he is behind 1 month in gross motor and fine motor. He has tightness in his leg muscles- like they don''t straighten all the way right now, and his shoulders are tight. They gave me some exercises and also we have to encourage more tummy time etc. We are also going to get early intervention at home too if they approve it(you have to be behind in a couple of areas a certain amount of percent and we are kind of mild so they aren''t sure I will qualify. I am happy to have the help to get him on track so hopefully they will approve it. I was sort of dissapointed but Ialso expected hime to be a little behind since he was in the hospital a few weeks. Ok well that''s all the report from today. sorry this is sooo long and thanks for reading.

Tacori- when are you coming to Ca? Who else is coming? Lili? Or is it Q? I''m getting confused. Do you guys have an official gtg date etc? Regarding husbands, I always crack up because my friend says I have to get "hand" from seinfeld (I think) in the relationship. I''m still working on it. I am not in charge in a lot of ways but my dh would not see it that way. He probably wishes I would stop being in charge. Does that make any sense? I hope if your husband goes on the trip he gives you something worthwhile-haha. My mom always gives me a hard time about dh and tells me to be nicer, not fight etc. sheesh I hate that. I think she thinks I am lucky to have a great guy and doesn''t ever see my side. ah well.

Diva yay for a new tooth. how exciting! HOw is your mil?

LIA 10 hours I am sooooo jealous. Oh I got T to sleep in his crib all night last night!!! and when he woke at 5:30 am my dh put him back to sleep without me feeding him. It''s a start I guess. he woke up at 930, 1130 and 3 30. I picked up a cleft palate nurser at the hospital today. I''ll let you know how it goes.

Burk- I think you said T is feeling a little better? that is good. also hooray for the plans with the architect.

Bobo hi! HOw is B?

Puffy congratulations!!!! How are you feeling? HOw far along are you? Oh this is so exciting!!! i am already starting to forget the pain of childbirth hahah. It''s so funny how fast that happens!!!

DD i understand of the pics too. It is a little scary. HOw is hunter though? Is the sleep still going well. I know I should not be a jealous person but I am if he is still sleeping 7 hours!!! Waaahhhhhh!!!!

Lili I love the new avi. It is funny you commented on the outfit. It is actually pants that match a fleece sweatshirt with a lion on it my mom got(zutan or something is the brand- really cute). but anywy the clothes- my dh just pulls out the first thing he can find and shoves it on T and it NEVER matches and never makes sense. I just shake my head and move on. He took him out all over on Saturday like that. haha.

Ok that''s it for tonight. Sorry if I missed anyone. have a great night!!!

pave~YAY for a good appt!

Thanks for asking! Welllll, I hate to make someone jealous
27.gif
but Hunter is on a very predictable shedule: He sleeps 6.5 hours in his first sleep shift, feeds, then sleeps another 3.5 hours or so until morning. So only one feed each night woot woot! Bedtime seems to vary from 8:30 until about 9:30 and wakeups are between 6:30 and 7:30.

So he is doing great! I did discover that when I drink caffein he spits up a LOT... like constantly after he feeds. I''m not 100% sure about it yet but I am doing some experimenting. So no more diet cokes mor mommy!
39.gif

pave that''s such great news about Tyler!! i''m sure he will do great with the exercises. i''m feeling pretty good, thanks for asking. i mean, once i get over the initial shock. good for tyler for sleeping in his crib!!!

DD that''s so great that you have hunter on a schedule and that he is sleeping in a long stretch!!

burk i believe i would be due in january. the only vacation that would change is our disney cruise, but i would just have to change the date to one of the first sailings of the season in november i believe, and disney is pretty good with stuff like that. we''re still planning on going to the other places, but it could all change i guess, but for now, we are definitely still on for everything. it is definitely reasonable to want double ovens!!! that is so funny that you guys are arguing over appliances already. when we remodeled our home, DH didn''t even want to bother with me. he knew that i just don''t compromise well. haha.

i''m kinda upset. no i''m really upset. DH was "watching" B and the next thing i know, i hear DH yelling at B for breaking my laptop!!! i asked DH what happened...he said that B picked up my laptop and chucked it across the room. so i asked what REALLY happened. he said B picked up my laptop and dropped it and now the screen is totally cracked. and i have to get a new laptop now.

Puffy- congrats congrats! And soooo sorry about the laptop...omg my mouth dropped when I read that
7.gif

Pave- glad to hear about the doc''s appt went well!

DD- im already jealous of the sleeping and my babies are only a week old lol!...so what age do they start sleeping more??

Sorry I haven''t posted much...I''ve had a case of the "baby blues"...its been an emotional time for me and pretty hard physically as well...but its slowly getting better.
Babies are growing every minute and doing great...lots of help from fam is key! Auntie takes jackie for the night so we only deal with jonathan for now...weird but its key for stayin sane at this early stage.

?...anyone have a good baby monitor (video and sound)?

pave: it sounds like overall the appt went well and I'm sure the exercises will do alot of good!

puffy: oh my goodness, you might kick off a #2 wave here (not me though!). We should start guessing who's next :) Sorry about thte laptop!

snlee: why did you tell me about mamabargains, i'm addicted!! Hooray for first tooth---are you brushing it? I need to and bought the gerber finger thing with toothpaste (non fluoride) as pedi recommended, but i'm stalling---don't know if I should give her anything that isn't natural.

qtiekiki: love the avi, she's always got the best expressions!

burk: can't wait to hear updates/see pics on the house--I can relate!! I am so bad at design or envisioning things before seeing it. That's when I go to Pennquaker! ;)

DD: sorry we'll see less photos of Hunter, but I do understand. I'm very private and hate the idea of photos floating around the big wide web which is why I post them rarely. Can we create a locked thread for baby photos somehow?

nyc: I'm sorry you were feeling down, but glad you're back! Those early days are tough--we all relate. As for monitors, I don't have a video one, just a Sony and I love it. Use it contantly and it recharges.

Thanks to all for the support on the ultrasound...of course I googled and worse case of what they could find sounds awful. I just really have to believe this dr. is being overly cautious b/c I mentioned the click. It's never been caught at any other appt, although they did notice something when she was first born, but then ruled it out. sigh..

meanwhile chloe has transformed into a mover and shaker. Why did I want her to roll so bad?? Now she rolls non stop, both ways, in circular direction, bouncing on stomach and arching on back. Tries to roll of diaper table, out of my arms. In her crib she wakes up i180 degree different spot. I put her down in the middle and today she ended up horizontal way up top with head up by bumper! (hope it's ok to be that close to the bumper, but she does need the padding). I wonder if she was trying to get away from the blankets since it was another hot night!

oh and I'm jealous of all the GTG's--anyone in NJ?

Puffy - I just want to chime in on the "CONGRATULATIONS" party!
36.gif
That is great news!!
(the laptop...not so much)
40.gif

Dreamer - can I ask you...Aside from Hunter naturally being a great eater and sleeper, have you found that anything in particular is helping him take full feedings (which then allow him to go between meals so well)? You seem to have gotten the hang of a schedule well. I''m curious if you have any hints.
17.gif

DD~That's awesome that Hunter is sleeping so well! Could you try cafeine free diet coke? That's what I drank while BFing.

puffy~That's great that you'll be able to still go on your planned trips!! I liked having T in January. If it's another boy you'll be able to reuse your clothes, too, since B was also a winter baby.
2.gif
Thanks for reassuring me on the double ovens. DH says it's a wasted $3500 on a house that isn't our final house.
20.gif
Our appliances are looking to be pretty expensive, though, and we're thinking about just paying for them out of our pocket instead of having them in the mortgage. Sorry about your laptop!

nyc~Sorry you're having the baby blues. Totally normal and sounds like you're already doing better!

janine~House is your house coming together? I'm sure I'll ask for some advice around here. I love this kind of stuff. We get an interior designer as part of the package with our builder which is awesome. We're meeting with her this week to start to choose granite and cabinets for the kitchen.

Just have to share the huge breakie my little girl ate this morning: 5 french toast sticks, 5 mini muffins, a bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit and a nutrigrain bar!!
23.gif
Hopefully that means she's putting on some weight!

17.gif
LOL! And guess what is crazy? He slept 8 hours last night! 8:30 to 4:30. As a psychologist who is familiar with the research of the relative influence of nature and nurture on baby's early development, I am not sure I can take any credit at all for *doing* anything to help Hunter be a good eater and sleeper. I really believe that temperament has so much to do with it and we got lucky and ended up with what the Baby Whisperer would probably call an "angel baby" (although that term is so fatuous
14.gif
). He has his dad's personality, that's for sure!

That said, reading the advice on this thread about the importance of scheduling really hit home and we have basically used the EASY method from the start, and starting at about 4 weeks we used the baby whispers methods for helping baby learn to fall asleep without any props (like BFing or rocking etc). It took a grand total of 3-4 days to train him to go to sleep on his own (with a few weeks of occassional missteps after), and now every time, we put him in his crib eyes wide open and he falls asleep without us having to check on him again. I have some friends who say they tried this method to no avail, but there is one key component that I think is very hard for some parents: You cannot go running in to pick up your baby whenever he makes a peep! It is really important to take a step back and wait and listen because sometimes--many times--baby will fall asleep after making some noises. Maybe there will be some whines, or grunts, or even a little bit of half-hearted crying. You need to ignore those noises because very very often, baby will fall asleep like 2 seconds after a little cryout! You learn really fast what is the difference between those "I am falling asleep" noises and little cries versus the true distress cries! The latter is louder and longer. But then, every baby is different, yours may have a different patterns of noises and falling asleep than mine. But the general point is a good one, because that process of learning to fall asleep can be noisy and if you go in to pick up baby too quickly then he won't learn how to transition his mind from alert to sleep. That's a hard thing to learn!

The other thing that I think is important -- and this is the opposite of everything that I thought before having a baby
2.gif
-- is that when you really want to start helping your baby learn to sleep he needs to be in his own room. For us this started at 4 weeks. Babies are so noisy that if they are too close to you it is hard to differentiate between noises indicating being awake and maybe hungry and noises that are just noises! LOL!

I also think it is important to have a routine in the day beyond the more general pattern of EASY. For us, Hunter wakes and eats then I dress him and he plays on his playmat or in his crib while I check e-mail (and PS!
3.gif
) and have a shower. This takes about an hour and a half and then he goes down for his first nap which is shorter, maybe 45 minutes. The next activity period we usually go for a walk, where he sleeps for another 45 minutes, and in the afternoon we usually go out and he has a long sleep period, 2-3 hours. The evening he has another 45 minute nap and then I try to keep him awake for *at least* 2 hours before bed... I find that he sleeps the best when he has been awake for a nice long time!

I also cluster feed him a little in the evening. So he will eat at, say, 5:00, 7:00 and again at 8pm right before bed! I think this helps him be full. The routing before bedtime is always the same and starts around 1.5 hours before putting him down: feeding, playing, bath, feed, diaper change and swaddle, feed until eyes star closing, then into the crib. That seems to work for us and helps him stay down I think! I do the same thing at the night feedings: feed, diaper change and swaddle, then feed some more until he is sleepy.

TGal has written some great posts about the importance of a routine and a schedule, and how sometimes that means making some sacrifices in your own life to allow your baby to sleep well. So Hunter goes to bed around 8pm, which works well for us, and so we try our best to be home always at 8pm! I don't think it is fair to him to interrupt that too much and I think he wouldn't sleep as well if I did.

Well, he just woke up from his nap, so off to start it all over again!
9.gif
Sorry this is so long, I just started writing my thoughts and it turned into a novel.
20.gif

ETA: I realzed after I wrote this that you only asked about feedings! LOL! Oh well, I think that is all goes together anways. I also thought of something else: During the day Hunter feeds fairly often, every 2.5 hours usually, which I think allows him to get his calories in during the day and sleep longer at night.

George finally just stopped screaming - he''s been screaming all morning and we can''t figure out what he wants.
40.gif

I''m not going to be able to get caught up with everyone, but here goes.

NF, Pave, I know I''m forgetting others - I love the new pictures! They all look adorable.

Puffy - congrats!!!

Pave - that''s great about Tyler!

DD - all that was helpful, thanks! I guess we need to run out and pick up a copy of the Baby Whisperer.

Blenheim, Hunter went through a week like this around the 2-3 week mark... we discovered it was because he was over tired and couldn''t put himself to sleep! Poor little guy. It will get better. Have you tried swaddling?

NYC Wellll.... some babies sleep more each week and for some it takes months and months and months. Have you tried swaddling your babies? It can really help them to sleep and for preemies it is supposedly especially helpful.

Well, he's now asleep, so that would completely make sense! For some reason we didn't think to try swaddling today - I'll try it next time he keeps screaming. Thanks!

ETA - Baby whisper = Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: how to calm, connect, and communicate with your baby? Or The Baby Whisperer solves all of your problems? I just put a hold on the first one at our library, just in case.

DD- thanks for all the advice! Goodness I wish I had it figured out but I guess my lo''s aren''t too bad..they generally have a 3hr schedule...we swaddle them all the time (even tho im probable the worst swaddler ever!)...can''t use the swaddle me''s bc they are too small for them still..but bought them for future use! Swaddling really is a huge savior!

Puffy, my BFP was SUPER light so I bet you are pretty far along. How exciting for you guys! Sorry about your laptop.

Zoe, I started a thread for you in hangout. See if we have any takers
2.gif

Burk, you are probably right but not sure I will be comfortable with a larger center stone. Maybe a coati special
18.gif
Guess I''ll have to know the budget first. I started a thread about mini diamond bands but didn''t get much interest. No sugar is tough! Hopefully I will lose at least a pound. That''s the goal anyways. We have double ovens...worth it!

Pave, sounds like T is doing great!!! Yay! I am sure the exercises will help. I am coming the weekend of June 21st. There is nothing official yet but I would love to meet my mommy friends. It''s been 7 years since I have been so who KNOWS when I will make it back there. Isn''t it funny our moms are always on Dhs side? He was actually REALLY sweet this morning. He tried to get up before me (with T) but didn''t quite make it. Then tried to get her read for me but I already did. He really seemed disappointed. Then I mentioned how we are out of bananas and he offered to get some. I like nice, helpful hubby!

Q, cute new AV

DD, you are REALLY lucky. Remember that.
2.gif
What about caffeine free diet coke.

nyc, you have a lot to adjust to. Take your time. I didn''t feel myself until 6 months post baby. My friends have Summer''s video monitor and likes it. Glad the babies are doing well and you are getting lots of help!

Janine, we have a mesh bumper. T is STILL quite the mover in her crib. I seriously cannot imagine moving her into a toddler bed yet. She would roll out.

BTW our babysitter LOVES the BOB. She said it was the best stroller she has ever used (which is saying a lot since she has grandchildren).

Blen~Sorry G had a rough morning!

Tacori~You could get the bands AND something else?!?! Maybe upgrade your studs? I like the coati special idea too....so many options! I''ll go look for your thread. One pound would be awesome and make it feel worth it! I was researching appliances today. I''m getting my double ovens one way or another. I kind of want a convection oven, too....
