Tacori~Miss Tessa is so cute!! I can't wait for warmer swimsuit weather here! Would you want to offer an opinion about a few house things? We picked out our appliances at Sears last night and the salesman is going to call us when they run their 20% off thing and then we'll go in and buy them. The one thing I'm not positive on is my oven. Instead of doing a wall oven I just got a range that has double ovens. This one. What do you think? If you have time, take a look and let me know. Also, if you really want something to do I could post the place where we're getting the cabinets....I'd love to get your opinion on them!
12.gif

Be back to catch up with everyone else in a few....

tacori, well i might have hit 50lbs..not sure, I stopped checking at the end (I continued to gain after 36 wks when it supposed to slow down). I also gained steadily in 1st tri when most people lose. My dr. also never said anything--I was worried when I was approaching 45lbs and the dr. said it's probably water retention.

Whoever posted is misinformed about gaining weight being related to unhealthy babies (if I'm intepreting correctly). Ridiculous. I think small boned people gain more for some reason. I did eat quite a bit, but after the baby didn't have the appetite anymore, so obviously it was related to being preggo (and not just an 'excuse'). In fact I eat more sweets now! And 5lbs more to go is great..to me, that's basically losing it all. And despite what I gained, baby came out 7lbs 4oz (about as average as can be!), and now is skinny minny!

ETA love the photos--I like the last one w/cute belly and chubby legs! I hope baby chubby legs last a long time, I love them!

Burk, thanks! She loves being outside. I have heard REALLY bad things about Sears lately. Just so you know. If you don''t have room for double wall ovens I LOVE stoves like that. I mean who REALLY uses that little drawer anyways? Are you sure you don''t want gas? I would love to see the cabs!

Have some time between my two appts, so I am responding on my phone again. Excuse my typos.

Thanks I thought you would appreciate the funny avi pic. She does it on occasions, and SIL happened to catch it.

M has the fever again. I wonder if she is teething. She isn''t fussy/cranky, no runny nose or cough or rash or diarrhea. So I don''t she has a cold or flu. She is still active and eating. Any idea?

Thanks for the finger food advice. I''ve been cutting the food into tiny pieces (like the size of a puff). I am going to try bigger pieces like you suggested.

Janine, I don''t know...I think by 18 months I should have lost it all. But I have not "tortured" myself as my DH likes to remind me. I do work out and I am trying to think more about my diet now. T was 7lbs 2 oz. I LOVE her chubby legs and elbow dimples. So cute. Oh, and her big cheeks.
30.gif

DD
LOL chicken sacrifice. Whatever it takes, right?
You can have diet coke zero. =D

Pave
snlee and I are meeting up next Fri. Tacori will be in the Bay Area in June, I think, and she is GTG with a few PSers including snlee.

Puffy
yay on the new Macbook.
Love the pic of Brady.
When is your 1st prenatal appt? Hope this pregnancy is as easy as the 1st one.

NYC
Sorry about he baby blues. It''ll get better.
so great that your family is helping with the twins.

Janine
I think M got "making faces" from me. I actually have pics of me making faces at our wedding.
M had done the 180 degrees thing in her sleep too. So funny.

Burk
sounds like the house planning is moving along.

Tacori~What did you hear about Sears? We have all Kennmore Elite appliances now and love them?
33.gif
With the 20% off the prices can''t be beat....now you have me worried!

As for cabinets...keep in mind our house will be craftsman style. The woodwork will be white. Thick baseboards, and in a style that goes with the craftsman thing. I''m kind of liking these cabinets but wondering if they''re too rustic? This is where we will order the cabs from (builder works only with them and gets a good discount) so if you don''t like the ones I''m considering and have time, feel free to point me in another direction!
2.gif
21.gif
I want dark, either cherry or I''m kinda digging the alder!

Thanks puffy, little B is doing good. I love the big version of your AV, look at his smile. Hope B''s appt goes well today.

Tacori, I saw that thread and didn''t want to go in. I figure it''s probably a controversial thread. But I agree with you, why must people judge.

I gained 40 lbs thru out the pregnancy, well...I stop checking my weight after I discovered I gained 40 lbs. So what, it was for my baby. He came out only 6 lb 5 oz and he is skinny now. I should have eat more

I love love the new pictures of Tessa. Look at her thunder thighs, I love it!

I''m a little on the edge today, a co-worker is back from vacationing in Mexico. He is being scold by everyone for coming into work.

Tacori, those Tessa pics are to die for!!! Her thighs are absolutely delicious! LOVE THEM!!!!
30.gif
30.gif
Sadly they do thin out by they time they''re 2 so enjoy them for now! And I have to tell you, my pulse went up quite a bit on the airline thread as well but I didn''t have the time or energy to get into it.
38.gif

Burk, I have heard this from several different sources but of course cannot remember where. Are they the only ones that sell that brand? I personally like the one that has the stainless top vs. black. Picky...but then again I AM picky
3.gif
I like the Alder for your craftsman. That is a CLASSIC style so you can''t go wrong. This style SCREAMS craftsman to me. I like how the drawer has detail too vs. the flat. like these. I like the Salem style here I totally like contrast so if you go with a darker cab I would go with a lighter countertop (or other way around). I hate when EVERYTHING is the same tone. It is boring to me.

Q, yes all the mommies are invited when I come to SF in June.

Bobo and Curly, I just couldn't let that comment go! Thanks for the compliments. I do love her thunder thighs and am sad she is already thinning out a bit.
15.gif
They are solid muscle though. All that squatting.

Bobo, try not to worry. Was your hands a lot. It will be okay.

Just want to thank Curly and Diva for sharing their daycare experiences. It''s really helpful to read and almost makes me want to put her in daycare. I''m still nervous, but at least I can start looking into them without as much fear seeing how great things turned out for you ladies. I guess we could manage if I was a SAHM but it would significantly change our lifestyle, so it''s tough, but on the other hand if we can do it at all, we have to consider it for the baby. But then I also realize that every day I work is money in the bank for the baby so, I keep sticking it out. One thing I''m surprised at is how few of my friends (who are moms) actually work full time (and they are all career women). It just shows how tough it really is to pull off. I give alot of credit to ladies who do this now that I realize what it entails. I wish my DH could understand it too--he thinks we are on the same wavelength in terms of sacrifice and challenges. Anyway, thanks for sharing ladies!

Diva: how do you find home daycares? Is it advertised like the traditional ones?
I found our sitter through an ad that she had in a newspaper for a nearby city. At the time we lived in the particular city and she was only a few miles from our house. We''ve moved since then, but she''s on my way to work so it''s all good.

I also contacted several other sitters that I heard about from family members, but two of them didn''t watch kids on Fridays and one lived too far away.

I contacted all of the references that our sitter provided to us and even called the parents of the kids that are currently there. Nobody had anything bad to say about her so we met and really hit it off. She''s a mom herself - her son is now in junior high.

Our sitter does educational activities with the kids - even James - and also has play-time. No tv, except on Friday afternoons and outside play when weather permits. She fills out a "progress report" for each day that James is there that says what he did during the day, diaper changes, feedings, his mood, etc. I provide his food/formula/milk and she prepares it and feeds him (breakfast and lunch).

We are really happy with the daycare situation and James lights up when I drop him off. He loves his "friends" so much. I know this will probably change we he starts to understand that he''s staying there when I''m not.

OMG Tacori, I love her chubby little legs.
30.gif

Janine - we haven''t decided what we''re doing about daycare yet (DH is out of work for the time being), but we''ve had people offer to give us the names of in-home daycares - word of mouth would probably be your best bet if you want to go that route. The state here has a list of people who are licensed to do in home daycare, but evidently it''s pretty overwhelmingly long and you don''t know how good people are from it.

DD - Yay for a bunch of uninterrupted sleep! George slept for 5 hours straight last night, and it was just so nice. He usually wakes up every 2 hours or so. But he did spend 6 hours cluster feeding before bed last night, so maybe that helped fuel him up for a long night. He''s been doing a lot better for the past two days, now that we''re concentrating on trying to get him to go to sleep when he gets fussy and there''s nothing else obvious going on. Thanks again for your help.

Slowly trying to catch up....

Bobo~so you are having to update pretty much everything at your new place? That''s a lot of work but it''ll be worth it when it''s all stuff you like! We got all our appliances last night which was surprisingly easy and fun!

lili~I do like to entertain and our new house should be much more ''entertaining friendly''
2.gif
Poor J with her sleep. I find that T will wake in her sleep and cry when she has ear infections, but she''ll typically go back to sleep in a few minutes. I can''t imagine up for 2.5 hours in the middle of the night. You poor thing! T does this weird thing when she has ear infections that she is scared of baths. So bizarre because she usually loves her baths. Hope J slept better last night!

puffy~Yay for new computer!! Like I said earlier we picked all the appliances and we also picked the stone for the exterior. We have to do tile and countertops Sat. because we ran out of time last night. Love the big avi pic! Happy boy!

mrss~Hope Jake''s feeling better!

DD~Glad Hunter slept well again last night. Hope the workout was good!

janine~Another place you can check is Craigslist for in-homes. I really like our center, too, so don't rule centers out!

Tacori~Add me to the "gained more than I should have according to that poster" camp!
20.gif
Whatever. Tayva is healthy and I had no health problems. My doc wasn't even close to concerned about my weight gain. Some people.

ooh...I liked the ones from kemper that you said screamed Crafstman too! I think we''ll go dark with the cabinets and lighter with the countertops. What do you think about hardware?

I love this pic! I LOVE THOSE THIGHS!!

Love those thunder thighs and that Buddha belly

Cute swimsuit too (and it match her hat!)
And are those water shoes she's got on?

She look so mature in that first picture.

But I am very sure that the majority was water since by 2 weeks pp I had dropped 30lbs. I don''t know that my eating habits were all that different, but I know my apetite is almost GONE now and I have trouble remembering to eat. GOOD! I have 15lbs to go still!

People who judge pregnant women for the weight they gain are a-holes. No ifs ands or butts
3.gif
Every woman''s body responds differently to being pregnant!

TanDogMom
Hi and sorry you have to made this hard decision.

Curly''s post is pretty much what I had wanted to say.
I would like to also add that some things that we look for when we were touring the different daycare is
1. how the room is setup (in terms of giving the babies space to explore)
2. how the caretakers interact w/ the babies (whether they talk and play w/ them)
Another thing that I particularly liked about the J''s daycare is that they have a huge playground for the babies.

Good luck w/ your choice.

tacori heehee, T''s such a cutie. and look at those thighs and belly. that girl can eat! wow, that''s thinning out, i would have loved to see her before!! i love it when babies/toddlers are super chubby.

burk have fun saturday looking for the rest of the stuff for your house. i''m sure it''ll be great. did you and your DH agree for the most part?

lili haha. i laugh when ever i see that pic of B or any pic of B lately. where''s the pic of J?

qt i don''t know if i mentioned it, but M is adorable in your AV! i have an appt on tuesday, which was just supposed to be for my annual, but they''re going to make that a prenatal appt as well. are you and your DH thinking about TTC soon?

haha, those ARE adorable.
it is sad when those goes away -- same w/ the dimples in the back of the hands where the knuckles will come out

MrsS--
Hope he is feeling better.
I know what you mean about regressing in the weaning process.
Everytime I tried to wean J, she''d be sick and refuses to eat anything during the day.
It is sad when they are weaned, especially for my girl who doesn''t like to be cuddled.
That is the only time I get to hold her
8.gif

Sounds like Jake will be walking before summer hits
5.gif

Burk--
There are a couple of instances when J would climb out of her tub crying when she''s bathing.....
but then she climbed back in.
I do see her tugging at her ears alot and would wake up in the middle of the night doing so as well.
Then she''d toss and turned.
Dr looked at it during her 1 yr check-up and said that it is a slight infection.
She didn''t want to overload her w/ antibiotics and say to see if it will clear up on its own.
Fingers crossed that it will.

Wow, that''s a pretty successful shopping trip then.
I don''t remember how many trips we had to make to appliance and furniture stores to furnish our place.
What made it hard for us is that neither one of us have a particular taste or preference.

When will your new house be done?
I''m always curious as to how long a house get build -- from conception to move-in.

Jane Powell writes great books about craftsman bungalows.
They give great ideas and have a chapter where you can find all sorts of stuff.

Tessa is so cute! Love the new pics.
I am jealous - I wish I lived in SF

ETA I wish I thought my thighs looked cute that chubby...

(When did chubby stop being cute?

)

Thanks Tacori.

Burk, the kitchen area need the most renovation and I want all the cabinets, counter top and appliances in before we move in. I don''t like to have construction going on in the house after we move in. Can you recommend any counter top? DH and I don''t really have any preference so the shopping part isn''t easy.

lili, hope the ear infection goes away soon.

For any mommies that visited my little oec thread and is interested in seeing the pendant it''s in SMTR folder.

Blen, thanks! Hard to believe we were once worried b/c she was only 5% for weight.

Burk, I just hate people who judge when they have never even BEEN preggo. Of course there are freaks like my MIL who gained 12 lbs (DH weighed 10 lbs) and is slim to start with but most people gain what their body needs them to. I really like the one with the vertical line too. More interesting, less generic for a craftsman. For hardware I usually learn towards brushed nickel/stainless but maybe something more rustic would be better for you. Are you doing antique bronze for lights? If so that is what I would do. I took a countertop quiz one of those websites that asked me questions like my style, if I want something easy to take care of, etc...and it came back corian which is what we have. Funny.

TGal, thanks. How are you these days?

Linda, oh, you are so sweet!

Lili, they are speedo water shoes. Another sale item I got last fall. She is looking older huh? Where is my baby?

DD, I didn't really weigh myself for a long time so I am not even sure when or how I lost the majority of the weight. I am guessing I had some water weight too since my hands and feet were puffy. Remember to eat for that milk.
2.gif

Puffy, well, she is taller so it makes her look less compact than she used to be. I love every roll and dimple.

iluv, no doubt. Wouldn't it be great if chubby was always cute?

Bobo, off to go see your new pendant!!!

puffy~Thanks! Hopefully it''ll go as smooth as last night did. After we chose the fridge (which was a debacle in which I thought I was going to kill my husband) everything was so easy and we agreed on everything and were in and out. We had talked at length about what we envision for this house so we''re pretty much on the same page style wise...it''s price points that get in the way!
11.gif

lili~Poor J! Have you been giving her tylenol or motrin? Has she ran a fever? T always runs a fever with her ear infections. She will be on the last day of her antibiotic tomorrow. Hers wasn''t minor enough to try and let it clear on its own.
7.gif
Hope J gets to feeling better! We should be digging our hole the end of this month and move in November. Six months is usually the norm around here. This is a great time to build so as long as the weather cooperates we should be looking at 5-5.5 months. Seems like a long time but I''m sure it''ll be here before I know it.

iluv~That''s awesome!! Thanks!!

Bobo~Kitchen rennos are the worst to live in!! We did it and I think you''re so smart getting it done before you move in. We''ll be looking at Quartz and Granite countertops. I like some of the granite better visually but quartz maintenance is easier from what I understand. I would just go to a local seller and ask a lot of questions and see a lot of samples.

Tacori~Amen. It''s not like I sat around and ate all day long while preggo. I ate healthy (for the most part) and continued to work out. It''s people like that poster that get women all stressed out about pregnancy. That''s NOT what being pregnant is supposed to be about. Ok. Off soap box. Dh likes the vertical line, too. Hopefully we''ll have enough time Sat to go see them in person. I''m doing the antique bronze for all the doors hardware and light fixtures so I was leaning towards that for the hardware on the cabinets. But then I get all weird about the appliances being stainless....will it look odd? Then what color faucet on the sink. I tend to over-analyze these things. Like I know what I want, but I don''t want to screw it up?
20.gif
We''re going to look at Corian. Do you like it?
