PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Tee Hee Mela! I got that with Daisy... nowt, not even a roll and then BAM, roll, crawl, pull-up, stand in around 48 hours... and as you mention the tantrums and sleep regression!

LOVE the photo!

Awe, Romy''s so cute! Kyle did that to me also. When he was 7 months we left him for the night with my mom for our anniversary. I told her he wasn''t crawling yet (at the time he was getting onto hands and knees, but just rocking). I called her after dinner to check in, and got the "you told me he wasn''t crawling, he''s going all over the place and pulling up on the couch
23.gif
!" Romy should slow down a bit now and get the crawling and pulling up things down.

I don''t have any new pictures for BPF, but I hope we see some more today. Romy is such a cutie!

I just wanted to let everyone know they are having a trade-in event at BRU. If you trade in certain old baby items, you can receive 25% off new ones. All of the info is here.
BRU trade in details

I am thinking we may trade in our infant seat for a convertible car seat. It would be a little early for him to be out of the infant seat (4-5 months), but I am planning on getting a Britax, and 25% of would be a nice discount. Plus, his infant seat was a hand me down from a neighbor, so it will most likely expire by the time we have the next kid anyway. So after we are done with it, it would most likely go in the trash. At least this way we''d get some good money for it.

Mela- Well if you'd been reading every page you'd know that we all agreed no one need apologize for not keeping up.
3.gif
Don't you dare stay away or not post b/c you feel like you have to keep up! I'll think of you as the cool older kid who we just are glad deigns to honor us with her presence.
2.gif
Anyways, that is the cutest pic of Romy!!!! And I love the girl's PJ's! Hang in there, he'll be back to his sweet lover boy self in no time.

Fiery- If in a month or two we all of a sudden see lot's of newly preggos on the newborn thread, I'm going to blame that ridiculously cute picture of Sophia! Fortunately for me, O is so little he still looks like that so I am not feeling any urges. I feel like the fog just cleared, no hurry to go back to newborn stage.

BPF- Argh, work is INSANE this week plus my mom and grandma were visiting so no time to upload any pics today. If my nanny sends me any pics today I'll upload one.

O updates: He's starting to notice people. He used to smile and go to anyone and all of a sudden he's a bit more cautious. Last night we were at my cousin's and it was the first time that he burst into tears when I handed him off to someone he didn't know. I'm a bad mom cause his little lip pout and cry face was so freaking cute! He's also starting to notice our dog.

Did your LO's go through a manic touching phase? O has to feel everything, and when he's sleeping or eating or still, he still feels the fabric of everything. It's really cute but weird.

Question: When did you all leave your little one's overnight for the first time? DH and I are planning a much needed mini-break soon and O will go stay with my parents.

Happy Friday!

ETA: Any bad mommy confessions??? Mandarine, we've been waiting for yours!

LOL China. You and I will be alone in the newborn thread then

I was thinking the same thing! But I decided to save our infant seat for my cousin who can''t really afford too much.

But I did see that BRU sent a book of coupons with a 20% off coupon. I didn''t read whether I could use it on the Britax but if I can then we are going to purchase hopefully this weekend.

China - We actually already left little E overnight. It was my husband''s 35th birthday, and I got us a suite at the hotel where we got married. He stayed with my parents, who live about two blocks away from the hotel, so we were close by if anything happened. Little E did great, and mommy and daddy got some much needed alone time. We were gone for about 18 hours (6pm until noon the next day). He was 3 and a half months old.

Fiery - I was planning on using the 20% of coupon for the carseat when I got it, but then I saw the thing about the trade in. The 20% off coupon appears to work on Britax. I would happily give our carseat to someone else, but it seems like all of my friends just had their babies. And our car seat has a manufacture date of 2006, so it''s only good for another couple of years.

Thanks So Cal. Now that you mention it, we''ve actually already done that as well! I totally forgot. I was in a wedding when O was 3 months old and we stayed at the hotel overnight but my parents were 10 mins away. We are thinking of going to Mexico for 3 nights, so will be farther away.

hiya Mommies!

I love that Sophia pic, and OMG, she is so cute sleeping on her side!

Viz: Sorry for the horrible boob leakage. You really do have the definition of high-needs baby, I''m so sorry.

I love all the pics- including the ones on FB! You who are my "friends" will recognize this Piper pic, but she FINALLY went down for her nap so I''m not going to wake her by taking another picture! She''s wearing her Dwell baby hedgehog shirt, and apparently angry I put her in it, people kept thinking she was a boy. She gave me a nice blowout to make sure that onesie was not going to confuse any others- I had to change her.

So Pipes is moving into size 2 diapers. At her pedi appointment last week (2 mos/shots) she was 12lb9oz and 22 inches long. She''s 50% for height, 90% for weight.
23.gif
I hope she''s going to grow taller, I''m a midget, but when I was a baby I was also really light, too.

How can you tell a baby is outgrowing her bassinet? She is totally good sleeping spread out on the bed- arms up, but when I transfer her to the bassinet her arms hit the side. And, since she''s not swaddled she moves around a lot so she ends up slightly pressed against the side, not face smashed in, but definitely close. Is that a clue to move her? I''m kind of sad about that!

I think my boobs have finally regulated. My righty is still the boob captain, all full and stuff, but my left doesn''t get engorged anymore, even when having fed from Captain Righty a few times in a row. I panicked when I tried to feed Pipes from that side and had to work at it- of course, that was just using my manual hand skills, but is that normal? It''s not like I don''t feed her from that side every day, it won''t dry up, will it?

I had my follow up OB appointment yesterday (yes, about two weeks later than the 6 week) and not only have I lost 40 pounds, but I''m now weighing 26 pounds less than my pre-preg, but it wasn''t like I was skinny then. I just had gained unexplainable weight then, despite all sorts of testing as to why. I got a prescription for the mini-pill (have yet to fill it), and all is good with me. I''m sad my time with them as a preggo is over for awhile. When my OB (gyno

) said that she''s done with me until next year, I almost cried! SAP.

Wooohooo! I LOVE Fridays!!

Where are those pictures??? and where are those confessions!!!?

Here is my mommy confession of the week:

I hired a nanny twice a week for a couple of hours so that I can go to the gym. A couple of times I have decided Starbucks and quiet time was more important than a workout. Just so I don''t feel too guilty, I put on my workout clothes and take off with my water bottle and towel. Then I sit at Starbucks for an hour and catch up on calling some friends!....it''s the most expensive cup of Starbucks I have!! ($12 for the nanny and $4 for the coffee!). Then I tell my husband I had a great workout

..

Weight loss

I got the best piece of news today....my scale is WRONG!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
I actually weigh 5 lbs less than what I thought! So I''m only 14 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight!!!!

Here's the 4-weeks pic I took on Tuesday... I can't believe he's 1-month-old today! and he STTN all week.

Mommy confession: I want Piper to wake up so I can get lunch, but I also want her to get her naps-worth in!

must eat my brother!!!!!!

(how cute are they holding hands???)

foto_will eat you.jpg

Anchor, he's precious!!!!!!!!!!!! What do you consider STTN??? That's awesome! Mine still don't, but I expect 12 hours! hehehe

ETA: Amber, look at her! such an angel!!! what a cutie! I vote for let her nap!!

ETA2 (and another confession): Wednesday I actually woke them up from a nap so that I could go meet with the mommy group. They were quietly sleeping and I heard a tiny noise and said "that's it! They're up! let's go fellas!". Poor guys, they weren't done napping!

Love the pics ladies!!

Keep ''em coming!!

hey ladies!! Love the pics! All the babies are so cute
30.gif

The latest pics I have are the meatball eating pictures from last Sunday...I guess I could post one, but most of you have seen them on FB.

Nothing new here, except that Lex cried for the 1st time today when I dropped him off at daycare. Broke my heart
39.gif
39.gif
I did get him to calm down before I left, but I had to stay for a bit and hold him and give him lots of kisses...today is one of those days I would give ANYTHING to be a SAHM.

On that sad note, I''ll go ahead and post a pic
9.gif

I just think his facial expression is hilarious here, especially because he LOVED his meatball, but you wouldn''t know it by this face!

I consider 6+ hours straight to be STTN, especially at his age! He slept from 12AM to 6AM Monday night, 12:30 AM to 6:30AM on Tuesday night, 12AM to 7AM on Wednesday night (and I actually woke him up!) and 10:330PM to 6AM last night.

Anchor, your pedi didn't want you to wake him up to feed? Ours was having us do that until she was 6 weeks, then it was okay to let her sleep. Of course, when she does, my boobs absolutely KILL.

ETA: And when she sleeps in, *I* can't sleep because I worry about her sleeping too long that something is wrong! I'm so paranoid.

ETA2: CDT, HOW GREAT IS THAT PICTURE???

amber - at his 2 weeks appointment she told me I could feed him every 3 hours during the day and on demand at night.

Once they reach their birth weight, you don''t have to wake them up at night to nurse anymore. I would let Sophia go 5 hours before feeding over night (she never made it that far, she was up within 3 to 4).

China - LO spent a night with my parents when he was around 3-4 weeks old (I know - young) I was having a very difficult time adjusting and suffering from MAJOR sleep deprivation. DH was traveling for work and I just needed some time to regroup. Luckily, things have drastically improved. DH and I are thinking of going to the Bahamas for 4 days in April (LO will be around 6 months) and we will leave him with my parents again. But I do feel a little twinge of guilt!

*********

Look at all of these loveys! Cuteness overload!!
30.gif
I'm going to try and post a new pic of LO tonight. DH and I are going to the Capital Grille for dinner and I plan on ordering a few glasses of wine. Maybe even a bottle if we're feeling really CRAZY.

loving the pictures!!!

mine is of my boys spending quality time together...

my confession: I''m kinda happy he''s in daycare now-----it means I have to change less diapers.

Mandarine- HaHAHAHAHAHHA, love your confession!!! And obviously, it''s working since you are actually 5 lbs less!
11.gif
Personally I think that is SMART, take time for yourself. And love the pics of your boys holding hands! When do you find out if they are frat/identical?

CDT- That picture is genius. I can already see it in his wedding slide show montage.
3.gif

Lizzard- What part of the world are you in???? Understand if you don''t want to say, but there is a Capital Grille here and in the city I grew up in, wondering if we are close by? We are going to leave O for the weekend at 6 months too. I''ll let you know how it goes.

Tao- Sometimes I wait for the nanny to change his diaper.
11.gif

I WOULD have had a bad mommy confession if I had thought of it earlier. We are crazy at work, but having a lull right about now. And if I had thought of it sooner, I so would have snuck out of here and gone to the movies alone but would have let DH think I worked late and would have let work think I needed to go relieve the nanny. Darn, SO wish I had done that! And you know what, I wouldn''t have felt bad AT ALL b/c this morning I realized that my DH has NEVER had O for an entire day or night alone. He''s only done "shifts".

Confession: I dress my son in girls clothes. With pics to prove it.

Eeeee! BPF is my favorite day at PS. Beautiful babies, as usual.

A quick question (or poll, I guess) for moms whose babies are eating solids.

What are your babies eating? How many times a day?

We've been sort of slow to introduce solids since the six month mark, and so far have only given (in order): banana, avocado, sweet potato, peas, prunes, and green beans. He LOVED the sweet potato and avocado, liked the banana and prunes, and was *not* a fan of the peas and green beans (surprise, surprise). I'm curious about others' experiences, baby likes and dislikes.

Also, this last week, he didn't poop for almost three days, and we read that it's common in BF babies. It's why one of his first foods was prunes. Anyone else's LO experience constipation soon into solids? I read to avoid BRAT (bananas, rice, apples and toast) but he wasn't eating any of that when he became constipated.

Thanks!

(And I'll try to find a pic for today.)

Confessions: I gave Jacks some broken up cheerios today, but I''m going to tell dh he''s giving him his first cheerios when he''s at home on Monday morning. Dh is a cheerio freak (that is all he eats for breakfast, ever, unless we go out to eat) but Jacks looked so sad when I was eating them this morning that I had to share.

Mandy, love yours!

Anchor, is it sad that even though I have a baby who sleeps from 6:30 PM to 6 AM, usually without waking, I''m still jealous that your little guy sleeps so well so early! I hope you have a continued good sleeper on your hands!

Jacks is officially sitting unassisted! He just started sitting up to play with his activity table this week, but was still really using it to support himself, but now he can sit without it! Of course, he''s still very wobbly (and already fell and hit his head on a rattle), so today when my phone beeped, I didn''t want to leave him sitting to go get it, so I put him on his stomach. I get up to get the phone, and BANG, he dive bombs with his head and bangs it sooo hard on the table! Poor guy, he immediately started wailing and got a big red mark, but he calmed down pretty quickly and seems fine. I''m sure it''s the first of many...

Love all the pics! Mela, I especially love the girl''s sleeper! Jacks is still wearing his Christmas sleepers because we don''t have very many.

Oh, and one more annoyance. I love the Carters fleece sleepers, but Jacks is outgrowing his 6 month ones. I saw some on clearance right after christmas and bought the only 2 9 month ones they had, thinking they were getting new styles in, but apparently not, and now I can''t find any more ANYWHERE! Boo.

100_2001s.jpg

Ebree - Lex was the opposite, loved green beans and peas, didn''t care for banana (and apples). We never tried prunes because Lex poops like 4 times a day
23.gif
. Well it''s 4 now since we started introducing more and more solids. But yeah, I would definitely avoid BRAT until he starts going and probably feed him prunes more for now.

Lex will be 8 months in a few days and currently eats 3 solid meals a day.

I just added dinner a week ago (and dropped a bottle), prior to that he would have only breakfast and lunch solid meals.

This is what we are currently doing (since he''s in daycare now I use more store bought stuff because I was tired of getting comments about his food being *too chunky*
20.gif
)

breakfast - baby oatmeal w/ fruit (usually baby food or purees I make).
lunch - baby food from store, like the Gerber turkey w/ vegetables
dinner - I do BLW here, in the sense that I just put our dinner in front of him and let him go at it. Tonight he ate pieces of avocado w/ small pieces of pork and macaroni and cheese. Loved it all!!

I''m not sure if you''re comfortable w/ the BLW, but Lex has done REALLY well w/ *grown up* food. But I waited until he was really using his jaw/gums when eating, he would make the motion of chewing randomly throughout the day, so I figured he was ready. He LOVES chunks of pineapple, he just sucks on them until they pretty much fall apart. This week alone he''s had meatballs, pork, chicken, sugar snap peas, mac & cheese, avocado and hummus. It''s so fun watching him feeding himself too
9.gif
Most of it ends up on him, but it''s still fun to watch!

Awwww such cute pics from everyone!
