It could be, I cannot know for sure. I sure looks similar, but the shape is ever so slightly different. He did not send me that picture when we discussed the spinel
You can reach out to him, he is very friendly and easy to deal with
Is this a "jedi spinel"?
Wow, a fireball indeed!!You certainly live up to your name, my friend. What is the tone like in person? I searched long and hard to try and tick all of the boxes... not too pink, medium tone, vivid saturation. I was really conscious of not buying too deep a tone and veering towards a noble red. But I almost sort of wish now that I'd gone with a medium-dark tone for a little extra richness. Your stone looks just right in all respects. I do see that touch of orange too, and it's glorious.
It looks exactly like the picture in daylight. A great purchase, never blacks out and always looks vivid and fiery.
It does have a little bit or orange, yes, mostly in incandescent light. Not in natural daylight though, it looks almost perfect red.
I like it a lot, but it is no ruby, and I am sucker for that sweet pleochroism that adds depth and richness to the stone. One needs to see both to really understand, I am sure you do.
Your welcome, I love reading your comments
Sure, when I get something I'll post it.
My two latest replies have not been pased the moderator approval... Have I unintentionally broken any rules?
Most likely not, you’ll just need to give it time. The mod team is small and very busy, there’s practically just one person moderating the entire forum.
I suspect the mod approval has been implemented as a measure against the increasing number of spam accounts, some of which posting straight up disturbing content.
Indeed. I feel like the color and brilliance of red spinel and ruby are so disparate. I often think of them as a pinot noir vs. cabernet sauvignon. Both red, both delicious, but with rubies being the more full-bodied of the two.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, OP. I hope you'll show us what you find!
