Ragdoll "parents" -- this thread''s for you! Brag and post photos here!

Quick update on the kitten terrors: after the terrible Friday night of attacking the bedspread and biting our hands, little Coltrane had a PERFECT night last night. We went to bed around 11:00 to watch a movie, and he fell right asleep next to us. We picked him up and put him in his bed, where he slept WITHOUT A PEEP until 7:30!! He got up for a few minutes to go the bathroom and grab a bite to eat, then went right back to sleep until 10:00. It was the best night''s sleep we''ve gotten all week!

Coltrane is sooo adorable! Take more of those precious kitten pictures, they don''t stay kitten for long! And post them here of course!

As for scratching furniture, make sure you have a good quality sturdy scratching post. My raggie doesn''t scratch anywhere else. But for training stage, I highly recommend softpaws. Look at my avator, those orange things are life savers!

everyone''s ragdolls are so beautiful....

we have two: a seal mitted and a blue mitted, both 6 years old --- for anyone considering a ragdoll cat, they are like people!! I can''t say enough about this wonderful breed...

sorry for the blurry pic -- but here are both our boys... Speck and Zeke
Love your raggies! They are so royal looking. I hope my kittie grows up to be just like them.

Snoopers - Mittens and Tiskers look so grown up! They are turning into such beautiful kitties

Thank you so much for sharing the updated picture

Lynn - Mr. Ollie seems to be holding steady at about 15 lbs, but I swear he seems like he''s still growing to me. Also, last time we were at the vet for a checkup she said he would fill out more. His body frame (if that makes sense) seems to be bigger than either of our other two kitties, and our orange tabby is pretty large - she is about 14 lbs but fully filled in and grown. So we''ll see - as long as he stays gloriously soft and sweet, I don''t care

Remember when I said that I was going to barrage you with pictures of little kitty Coltrane? Well don''t say I didn''t warn you!

I told you ssshhh!!!

I don''t know what is funnier about this - the fact that he was playing with the "mouse" on the screen a few seconds earlier, or that he abandoned that to play with his own tail.

OMG, how did I miss Cotrane?? He is soooo adorable.

Omie wants to say hello to everyone...

Aww shucks. Thanks guys! We think he''s pretty cute too.

I was a little worried at the beginning that he was going to be runt, but he is growing like crazy now! He''s going to be a big boy all to soon.

Omie is so beautiful! Someday when Coltrane gets a buddy it will be a seal bicolor. I really like Omie''s mask - did it always looks like that? Like when she was a kitten, could you tell that the white parts weren''t going to touch her eyes?

Oh, and here is a quick new-ish picture of Coltrane.

I just had to share this picture I took the other day. These are several of the cats from my feral cat colony. Look at that hair! This is the same group that my Godiva came from. The two little ones were born in September and hopefully the last of the little ones. I only have one more female to go to get spayed and then released! Yay!!

Auugghhh!!!! I love them, I love them, I love them ALL!! FI and I are getting close to adopting a kitty, but unfortunately he saw the prices of raggies and nixed it right there. He''s set on getting a shelter cat and objectively, I know that it''s good to give a home to a needy cat...but I really REALLY want a raggie. I checked rescue sites and there aren''t any around us right now

I''m still holding out hope, but in the meantime you all need to keep posting photos of your beautiful, adorable babies for me to drool over!

Unfortunately, I adopted Omie when she just turned 1, so I am not sure whether her markings changed prior to that point. What I can say is that her markings have not changed since I adopted her. Please note that her markings are not "characteristic" to the breed, however, I have seen raggies with black noses, just not the chocolate chin like Omie's.

Octavia

Here are some resources you can look into for adopting a raggie:

Ragdoll Rescue has a great reputation, visit them here: http://www.freewebs.com/ragdollrescue/ (for US site, click here: http://www.freewebs.com/ragdollrescueusa/).

The Purebreed Cat Rescue organization specializes in raggies, persions, himmies, etc. http://purebredcatbreedrescue.org/ragdoll.htm

Ragdoll International is a ragdoll breed club, that also has a rescue service: http://www.ragdollinternational.org/ragrescues.shtml

http://www.ragdollscfa.org/rag_rescue.php

You can always check with reliable breeders to find out if they have any rescued ragdolls needing homes.

Thanks for the links! I love watching Coltrane grow up, but I don''t know if I could go through the kitten-ness again. Adopting is a serious option. I have also thought about adopting/buying a retired breeder. Does anyone have any experience with that? It seems like they could be more prone to hormonal issues.

I really like bicolors like Omie and Boo whose masks completely cover their eyes. I don''t know why, I just think it''s so cute.

Links were intended for Octavia, but I had not known you were interested in another raggie!!

Regarding adopting a retired breeder...hmm. Though I do not have direct experience with that one, I think the quality of the cat will depend on the quality of the breeder. There are a few people on Ragdoll Central who have done this, plus several breeders there who could give you information. I believe UncleVic adopted his 2 from a breeder. If I recall, they were a bit shy but now are wonderful.

Bicolors are very popular, I love them too! Boo and Omie would be considered seal bicolours, but bicolors also come in blue, lilac (extremely rare), tortie, lynx (a.k.a. tabby) cream and red.

I''m so glad I came across this thread! Such cute kitties. Makes me want another one

Miss Jewels is my adopted Ragdoll mix. She was all matted up when I got her, as you can see in the first pic. I had never had a cat before that was so affectionate, following me everywhere around the house. Even sits by the bathtub when I take a bath. Whenever she wants attention she isn''t afraid to show it..she is not shy of coming up to anyone and "heat-butting" them for attention.

When I first adopted her:

Omieluv, thank you for the links! I haven''t been to this thread in a couple days. I''ve been monitoring the Ragdoll Rescue site for awhile but I didn''t know about the others, so I went through all of them

Unfortunately (for me, though hopefully fortunately for the kitties) there are very few rescues available in my geographic area right now, and most have special needs (only pet, no kids, etc). We don''t have these things right now, but I don''t want to cause problems for ourselves in five years or so.

A lot will depend on whether FI''s kitty longing can be held at bay for a little while longer...if anything exciting happens, I''ll keep you all updated!

Missrocks, your kitty is so beautiful!

Octavia, have you checked out PetFinder? Try that because you might find a raggie needing a home through that site. Also, check out ragdoll central. This is a great resource for Raggie owners and enthusiasts. They have a forum for people looking for a raggie and you can sometimes find people who are looking to find their raggies a new home.

MissRocks, your raggie is adorable! I am so glad you were able to give her a nice home.

Guess what today is? Yes it is Valentines day, but it is also Omie''s birthday!! Happy 4th birthday little diva!!

I just could not resist another picture!

Oh! I am sure loving all the new photos!!!

Thank you all! I think we have the most beautiful furbabies on the planet right here on PS!!

And Kris, does Omie''s nose look like a perfect little heart IRL as much as it does in photos?!
