The conservatory looks gorgeous!

Just to point out: it''s actually a lot more complicated for out of town guests to get to a suburb than a city. They then have to go to the expense of renting a car and navigate highways, whereas in the city they can just hop in a taxi. As a guest, I would MUCH MUCH MUCH rather go to a wedding in the city than in a suburb.

That said, the conservatory is crazy gorgeous. If that''s where you want to get married, then get a full quote with all the costs written in (so you can see if it really is cheaper) and then go for it!

I think you answered your own question with the pro/con lists. If everyone loves it and its cheaper and closer to the church I think it is a no brainer! The garden venue looks beautiful!

Hihi! Good idea, I will get the quote within the next week. Unfortunately, I don't think there are a lot of taxis in Richmond..some..but not a lot.

Haven't really seen them much. But, who knows I could be wrong! I think most of the out of town guest will ride together with FI's parents/family that live in NOVA.

ETA: Thanks for bringing this up, I will check with FI's family to see if they do plan on driving them around.

Update: We met with Lewis Ginter this weekend and asked all of our questions. Everything looks great, the only thing I am a bit disappointed about is it looks like we can't actually go walking around the gardens and take photos before the reception.. It's a new rule they are kind of trying to enforce to keep track of people. So, I understand why, but I am a bit disappointed because I wanted photos in front of the conservatory at sunset. My photographer said we would try because he's done it many times before.

If we had our ceremony there, then we could take photos during the set up time. Otherwise, we're not supposed to be there before about 5:30.

As beautiful as it would be, I didn't want to get married outside, so oh well. For an extra fee we can have bridal portraits or engagement photos done there. Maybe we can work something out, I will try. Maybe we can have the ceremony early and get their early or something. That would be inconvenient for the guests though. Oh well, sorry for being confusing.

ETA: Love how I called the photographer my photographer..disclaimer is we haven't hired him yet. We also met him this weekend, but so far he is definitely my favorite. And his prices rock!!
