FrekeChild:

I''ve been following this thread from the start.

Hang in there. Now that the Postal Inspectors are involved things should work out.

As frustrating as this has been (and I''ve been there on other things) - sometimes it helps to sit back and just Smile.... and take a break and enjoy the day.

Here is a question to consider: Is this mixup - however it comes out - really going to affect your life in 5 years - or will it just be a memory. That doesn''t mean you can''t be upset - concerned - mad - etc. But please remember that there are a lot of other aspects of your life to enjoy as well.

Persoanlly, I''ve walked away from some lawsuits - and a fair amount of money (at the time) - just because I felt that to persue it would be more distructive to my life than what it was worth.

I suspect that the Postal Inspectors will come up with an answer - especially since it is known that the package was delivered to the wrong adress.

Have a great day,

Perry

Well said Perry............but it is hard to get past these situations when you are still in the midst of them. I was so hoping to come back to this thread and hear some great news! I am so frustrated on your behalf Freke! In the event you may have to file a claim, prepare yourself for a long, bumpy road! It could take months.... That said, I hope you don't have to go that route and the Postal Inspectors get the package and in perfect order!!

Thanks guys. Lets hope for some good news from SOMEONE tomorrow. If I don''t hear anything, I''m probably going to talk to my dad about it and see what he has to say. He''s already told me to gather what I have and make sure I have that in order.

And Perry, thanks for the advice. I''ve never been the type to pursue legal action unless I felt there was no other way to accomplish (eh) something. I''ve been exposed to lawsuits my entire life, and many of them have not been pretty. My dad (somewhat surprisingly) does not tend to pursue personal lawsuits either. So trust me, that is a very last resort for both of us.

I''m just crossing everything I''ve got that SOMETHING GOOD happens tomorrow.

Anyway, I''ll keep you guys updated!

Another dust request please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hope this gets resolved this week! this is just unbelievable!

Good luck Liz, I really hope they get this all worked out for you. The postal inspectors are bad ass. I told my aunt (who''s a retired postmistress) about your situation and she''s LIVID. She said the inspector will go after this like he''s got a hornet up his a$$!

Hey Liz

Just checking in to let you know I`m thinking about you honey. I`m going to be sending you positive vibes until I hear of a good outcome. And if I don`t hear of a good outcome, I`m going to replace what you lost (I`m assuming it`s not the Hope Diamond). I know it won`t be the same, but nevertheless, I won`t see you go without.

Ditto Gailey, I know many of us would be willing to contribute.

hell - i''d even be willing to call each and every company on that list!!

Awww...you guys are so sweet.

I haven''t heard anything yet, and I''m about to go to school (ugh), so I''m hoping for goods news after I get back.

Any word yet???

Lori

Nothing at all today.

Praying for good news tomorrow. Sheesh this is crazy. I know you have been through the ringer on this. So am wishing for some good news tomorrow... Will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for ya.......

Thanks Lisa. I''m just so tired of it all...

*sends dust from Australia*

That''s ridiculous! I hope it gets sorted out!

*gives the USPS a good kick, both for Freke''s situation, and hers*

Ah, that feels better!

Go down there and raise hell. Seriously.

This just makes me feel

I really feel as though your local office should be able to do something. Go to bat for you. Because they have better resources for approaching this than you do.

I was talking about if I were to start calling them. Because they can lie or I could get a person on the phone who has no idea what I''m talking about. My dude at USPS would call me if he knew something was going on...I know that.

(BTW, there is such a difference between the people at my local post office and at the Chicago one. Lets just say customer service is not their strong suit up in the midwest.)

totally up to you. hopefully they wouldn''t lie, but i would just say simple
"hi, my name is ___. I think a package might have been accidentally shipped to you, rather than your neighbor at suite # ____. Do you happen to know, or who i could talk to who would, if you have seen that package?"

i just can''t imagine an office that would knowingly take a package and not return it to its rightful recipient.

Grrrr.....this makes me so mad, I want to go yell at them for you, but sadly, I have found that usually backfires.

I am still hope you get your stone back....this bites!

I expect things will move a bit -- possibly a lot -- more slowly with the postal inspector involved. He or she is going to be collecting evidence that will be used to prosecute and/or fire somebody, so there will be a lot of paperwork, i''s, and t''s involved. The wheels of justice and all. Have you tried contacting the postal inspector''s office directly? They should be able to tell you what to expect in terms of process and outcomes, and when you can file a claim.

I have just ordered a package of sparkly goodies which were sent to me today from US. I''ve just checked USPS online tracking and I see they have them recorded at least. But having read some of these posts with those tales of 3-30 days delivery between states, well.....

It will be interesting to see how long it takes to this part of the world.
Freke - good luck with your package

any news, Freke??

any news, Freke??

I was just going to ask the same thing. I do hope you have heard something.

The only news I have:

The Postal Inspectors are investigating, so it is likely that I won''t know anything for a couple of weeks. The recipient is going to call them every day and she''ll update me if anything happens. So I''ll update you guys if anything happens.

Freke, did the place that accepted the package say WHY they won''t give it back?

Geez, Liz I don''t understand why they just can''t hand over your stone. It just doesn''t make sense at all.

Gosh what a debacle; I am sorry.
