Replace sapphire in ring?

@eapj, that’s the problem! I don’t think I could resist a single thing while I was there and DH is an enabler. I’d leave and be thinking...”oh my gosh, what did I do???????

I get it!!! And my husband is an enabler, too. But it would be so fun! ;)2

Where did you get the new stone unset and set?
I'm thinking of getting a different colored stone, that may be larger or smaller than what i have now.

I had if set at a jeweler across from Gemfix, where I purchased the stone. It was cheap but it wasn’t the best job, to be honest.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Is it to the point where you'd consider having someone else reset it?

I might since prongs are wonky. I’m not too picky but it needs some help, I think. I do notice the wonkiness, especially on one prong. I’ll live with it for now because in a few years I’d like to have a similar setting made but more low profile so I may just wait for that I love the proportions but would love a little less height off the finger. It only cost $40 to set so the job was good enough for that, I guess!

I seriously think that sometimes (or oftentimes) the gems in a ring are set in a higher profile is so that light from the sides can get under the gemstone and come out through the table, making it look less dark. It is my opinion that if you have less height off the finger your stones will look a little darker. This might not be a deal breaker, since you already switched out your darker sapphire for a lovely lighter blue, and letting less light through might turn it closer to medium or trade ideal, but I just don't want you to not be forewarned and then be surprised when your lovely sapphire looks darker again!

This is great advice @voce - thank you! Definitely something to consider. I do not want it to ever black out.
