God, I was looking for a specialist in filigree work! People who I know and who know this technique were charging arm, leg, foot and at least one tooth for a very small replacement work!Date: 1/20/2010 1:21:22 PM

Chic, that''s not filigree work in the ring it''s either cast or pierced, something like that. Here''s how actual filigree looks like:

or this:

So it''s basically forming and twisting very thin (thread-like) wires, so that a very light, airy feel is achieved with the piece. Due to costs of labour involved in this technique (it''s very time consuming), similar but more simple methods, like casting, are used to achieve a similar look, but the difference is obvious in the thickness of the wires, and in the fact that ''fakes'' are usually made up of a single piece of metal, not many small, individual wires. Such pieces are also much more durable (if done properly) than traditional filigree, so much more wearable.

You know, I have been looking at her designs - she is quite creative and has excellent taste, it seems. A project worth looking into, but some people have mentioned that it is not extremely safe to mail packages to her? What do you think about it? I am considering using her services but I want to be sure that my stones will reach her safe and sound.
