That looks really NICE. I too love the profile shots. Can't wait to hear what you think of the color in the bezel and how you think the ring looks on YOUR hand.

TFS!!

ETA: By "color in the bezel" I mean the color of the stone and how the bezel has changed it.

Love it!! The profile is so graceful...hope it arrives soon!

Packy, the ring is just heavenly!!! There is not one tiny thing I would change on it! I love the combo of sleek, smoothness with the beautifully curved, carved side view! The color of the metal really compliments the color of your lovely stone. It is amazingly beautiful!!

It''s gorgeous Packrat!!

Stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! Thanks guys!

K, so I''ve been thinking of a band to wear w/it. My bff says I don''t need a band, but I want one I guess cuz I feel..married w/one on, rather than just engaged. Does that make sense??

It will be a couple months I''m sure, before we can swing a band, and when we can, I want it to be not expensive. Not cheap looking like I got it from the gumball machine, just I don''t want to spend more than $100. If I can get away with it. For now I have my original wg band I can wear and a couple gold ones. Maybe when the tax return comes in JD will agree to sneaking a bit out of it for a band.

So, I was thinking a flat band like this would not block any of the filigree in the gallery. And, I was thinking to have something meaningful to us engraved on the outside of it. What do you think? Yay, nay? Would it be possible for $100? Would stainless be ok if gold is too expensive? I did look at some on Etsy, and they were about $200-$500, but I didn''t spend a whole lot of time looking.

Any other ideas?

Have you looked at E-weddingbands.com? not sure of what the price is, but they seem to beat everyone''s prices when I was looking just for plain..

It turned out gorgeous! Love the details in the profile! What a lovely mix of modern and feminine!

Thanks! I did check out that site just now D&T-I sent them an email to see if the rings can be engraved on the outside or just the inside. If not...I guess I''d check the jeweler in town here to see if he can do it, or think of something else.

I''d like the band to be plain w/a little oomph, rather than just plain. Maybe a plain band w/some etching if the outside engraving doesn''t work out?

I can always talk to Sally and see what she could do!

I love the filigree on the side profile! In fact I LOVE filigree, its classy and interesting. Not a huge fan of bezel though:) But its looking good! Looking forward to see it on your finger!

Chic, that''s not filigree work in the ring it''s either cast or pierced, something like that. Here''s how actual filigree looks like:

or this:

So it''s basically forming and twisting very thin (thread-like) wires, so that a very light, airy feel is achieved with the piece. Due to costs of labour involved in this technique (it''s very time consuming), similar but more simple methods, like casting, are used to achieve a similar look, but the difference is obvious in the thickness of the wires, and in the fact that "fakes" are usually made up of a single piece of metal, not many small, individual wires. Such pieces are also much more durable (if done properly) than traditional filigree, so much more wearable.

Goh! I heard back from eweddingbands today. They can''t engrave on the outside and don''t recommend it on the outside anyway, for anything less than 6mm. Even on the inside she said would be misiscule and is just for sentimental reasons. Hmph. I might need to rethink this!

Cross your fingers it comes tomorrow! It should be either then or Tuesday-I can''t get the tracking site to work, so all I know is, it''s in the US..someplace!

You know, I have been looking at her designs - she is quite creative and has excellent taste, it seems. A project worth looking into, but some people have mentioned that it is not extremely safe to mail packages to her? What do you think about it? I am considering using her services but I want to be sure that my stones will reach her safe and sound.

God, I was looking for a specialist in filigree work! People who I know and who know this technique were charging arm, leg, foot and at least one tooth for a very small replacement work!

I was scared to send my stone but I took the advice on how to mail it and it took 1 week with no troubles. Other than the dumb site not working so I''ve no idea how close the ring is, there''s been no trouble sending it to me. I''d have no problems doing it again!

Your ring is gorgeous, Packrat. The color is yummy and that profile is so graceful. I can''t wait to see your hand shots.

Thanks Kay! No ring today, so hopefully tomorrow. I finally got the tracking site to work and it said the same thing that it did last Thursday morning. So, it''s in the US..somewhere.

Dude, Pack, you keep updating this thread and I keep getting excited that its here! Not fair. Not fair

I called my friend whose mom works at the post office to see if maybe the mail trucks come in the afternoon so maybe it might already be there and I could just go get it. Nope, they come in the morning. I should''ve told myself not to even expect it until tomorrow or Wednesday-then maybe I wouldn''t be all wound up and antsy about it. That''ll learn me. Remind me next time to allow sufficient time for delivery haha!
