Hi everyone,

Recently bought two incredible 6 mm stones ! I have never bought any gems this small so I would love to get your 6 mm ring ideas ! Please post pics of yours if you can, that would be super helpful!

Here are are my small but very bright gems- mint garnet and mehenge spinel :Up_to_something2:

Halo!

This pad is only 5.68 X 5.4 and looks amazing with a halo!

Another option would be to have them as stacking rings. I really like the above two options. Your garnet and spinel are gorgeous by the way!

If you like vintage inspired settings I would suggest Ivy and Rose on Etsy. They have a lot of settings for this size of stones.

That is gorgeous !! I would love a halo but can't afford the diamonds right now :(

Too many other bigger projects to fund. But these gems are almost equally lovely and need some unique finger coverage ideas.

I will check them out for sure! Thanks for the tip :)

I love the idea of stackers! And you don't always have to add diamonds for a halo. ;-) Here's my Montana sapphire with an unplated white gold halo setting.

Hey this is fantastic !! Exactly the kind of inspiration I need ☺️

NICE bright stones, congrats! How many stand alone RHRs do you have and do you want these to be a part of that collection? I like the suggestions posted. I like the Toi et Moi ring, truly vintage. Stackers are always a good choice. I have a Stuller setting bookmarked that's a halo without diamonds. It's prong set. Sorry the image is large.

Hi stone hunter ! I have way too many stones and each of them is unique and special and deserves their own RHR. I currently have 13 I think.... Not the luckiest number. Lol. But I love these two a lot.

I like your setting a lot. I may do prongs with a halo in some geometric design as well. I wouldn't mix the two stones. They don't perfectly match , one has a fuller crown. Also I think they deserve their own place in the sun!

Having made that decision you are at least half way to finding a nice setting! Next question: What size mm do you want the ring to face up on your hand? We all have different ideas of how much finger space a setting should take up, and we all have different finger sizes.

Where did you get this setting? It's quite a cool look.

The trick is to use smaller diamonds like 0.01 melees. If the stone is small, about 10-12 melees is good so the TCW of the melees would be .10-.12. It won't be bank breaking. :) You can also use white sapphire melees. :)

That's fair. I think ring should be 8 mm face up or can have side stones- 3.5mm type.

Hi seaglow , thanks that's very helpful. With diamonds I never know what size or number to ask! So that sounds good to me. I'll an my jeweler for the cost

My stone is under 6mm and I had it set in a daisy stacking setting by Julia B. That is an idea for your stones.

Remember, the melees need not be packed together. There are designs with a bit of space in between and some have thicker gold in between.

This design used only 6 melees. :)

These were set with spaces between diamonds..

I've been saving up little stones (even smaller than 6mm) to do a bezeled stacking rings project. Each one would ideally look something like this.

Oh wow I love that idea. I have a bunch of 5 mm type stones I think would be great for this. I may just do this too!

What a great idea to save on cost. I like the last one the money. Taking from that I was thinking what about just doing four diamonds Spaced out equally and keep the rest like a bezel.

I don't think they're that small. 6mm is the size of a 1 ct round cut diamond, so you can browse diamond settings as well. A bypass ring would really set off the colors though.

6 mm isn’t small, but you might look at European or overseas designers, because the proportions tend to be less ginormous. I commissioned a pretty lotus ring from Dinar on Etsy for my pink-purple sapphire and had it set by a local jeweler. It came out very pretty. (They show an emerald in that setting.)

Your new stones are beautiful. I think they would look great each set in a halo setting or together in a two stone bypass ring. I have a few 6mm stones that are set. The icy blue zircon and purple garnet in the halo settings in this picture are both 6mm rounds. The blue sapphire that is not in a halo is a smidge larger at 6.3mm. This might help give you an idea of the visual impact a setting can create with a 6mm stone. I threw the 5mm mahenge spinel pendant in the picture just so you could see that smaller stones are a great size for everyday pendants. I don’t know why the photo is attaching so dark, but hopefully it still helps.
